Renowned businessman Sir Sam Jonah has praised Vice President Prof Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang for her unblemished record throughout her decades of public service.

According to Sam Jonah, Professor Opoku-Agyemang has maintained an unblemished record with not a single scandal nor a whisper of controversy to her name.

Speaking at the Distinguished Fellow Award Ceremony at the University of Cape Coast, Sir Sam Jonah stated, “Throughout her entire public life, from the lecture halls of this University to the highest offices of national governance, Professor Opoku-Agyemang has maintained an unblemished record,” he said. “Not a single scandal. Not a whisper of controversy.”

“In a world where power so often corrodes, and where public trust so often frays, she has navigated the full complexity of leadership with her honour completely intact,” Sir Sam Jonah stated. “That, Ladies and Gentlemen, is no small thing. That is, in fact, everything.”

“A person of achievement inspires admiration. A person of integrity inspires trust. Professor Opoku-Agyemang is both, and that rare combination is precisely why this honour is not only fitting, but necessary,” he explained.

“In these times when trust in public institutions is tested, when cynicism threatens to become the default posture of citizens toward their leaders, her example shines as a beacon,” Sir Sam Jonah observed.

“She reminds us, by the simple act of living as she has lived, that principled leadership is not a relic of a nobler age. It is possible. It is practised. It is present among us today. And it is utterly vital  for Ghana’s progress, unity, and future.”

In related news, Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang has announced that the government’s flagship Women’s Development Bank will be rolled out soon.

According to Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang,  a two-day workshop has been assembled to finalise key implementation strategies for the initiative.

Speaking at the 65th End-of-Year Gathering and General Meeting of the Greater Accra Markets Association (GAMA), the vice president stated, “Our aim is not speed for its own sake, but sustainability and impact. We are determined to build progressively and deliver on a mandate that genuinely benefits those who have long been left in the gaps of our economic system. The women in our markets deserve nothing less”.

Women are not lazy; it is help that we need. Every major policy needs appropriate preparation and consultation, so it thrives,” she said.

The vice president, in a subsequent post on social media, further detailed government is taking deliberate steps to ensure the Women’s Development Bank is structured to serve its intended purpose.

She wrote, “Later today, I attended the Greater Accra Markets Association (GAMA) End of Year Gathering and General Meeting 2026. It was an honour to be with hardworking market women whose daily efforts keep our local economies thriving. Our markets depend on the strength of the women who work in them. Peace, stability, and community resilience often start with women, and their role in sustaining families and the nation cannot be overstated.

I acknowledged the difficult conditions under which many market women operate. Our market women deserve to work with dignity, safety, and peace. Addressing these concerns has led to accelerated infrastructure development, including market revitalization projects.

I also commended the Association for adopting a theme that promotes healthy living, reflecting an understanding that economic empowerment must go hand in hand with well-being.

I reaffirmed Government’s commitment to establishing the Women’s Development Bank. Extensive stakeholder engagement is ongoing, and we are taking deliberate steps to ensure the Bank is structured to serve its intended purpose. Our aim is not speed for its own sake, but sustainability and impact. We are determined to build progressively and deliver on a mandate that genuinely benefits those who have long been left in the gaps of our economic system. The women in our markets deserve nothing less”, her post concluded.
