News“Prof Opoku-Agyemang only focused on her job as Vice President” - Spokesperson

Ama Pratt, the Spokesperson, to Professor Opoku-Agyemang has said her boss is only focused on her job as Vice President.

According to Ama Pratt, Professor Opoku-Agyemang is not thinking about succeeding President John Mahama but only his job as a vice president.

Ama Pratt is quoted by GHOne to have stated, “Prof. Opoku-Agyemang is only focused on her job as Vice President, not the position of president”.

Her comment comes following the Education Minister  Haruna Iddrisu telling the Vice President, Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, that it is his prayer that God gives her a long life and health to one day become Ghana’s first female President.

According to Haruna Iddrisu, Prof Jane Naana’s elevation to the second-highest office of the land is a milestone for women in leadership.

Haruna Iddrisu stated, “It is my pride and honour to welcome you back to the Ministry of Education, this time in an elevated capacity as the first female Vice President of our Republic.

It is my prayer that God will give you long life and good health…that probably you will be elevated to become the first female President. May Allah grant you the strength”, he added.

Also, President John Dramani Mahama, speaking at the Global Leaders’ Meeting on Women in Beijing, China, on Monday, October 13, John Mahama stated confidently stated, Ghana will soon have its first female President.

According to John Mahama, he is confident that women will break the glass ceiling for Ghana to have its first female president.

John Mahama stated, “In my capacity as the African Union champion for gender and women’s empowerment, the government of Ghana has continued to take decisive steps to mainstream gender across our national development policies.

We’ve achieved historic milestones, including the election of Ghana’s first female vice president and the unprecedented appointment of women to leadership positions in government, the judiciary, the security services, and key national institutions.

“These are not just symbolic gestures. They are affirmations that women deserve a seat at the table of the highest levels of decision-making. And I am confident that in the very near future, our women will break the glass ceiling and [there] will be a woman president of the Republic of Ghana,” he said.
