Victor Kofi Owusu, commonly known as Abusuapanyin Tupac, the family head of late Ghanaian Highlife legend Daddy Lumba, has said people claiming they do not know where the late musician was buried are telling lies.
According to Abusuapanyin Tupac, people are claiming ignorance about the burial site when they choose not to attend the singer’s funeral.
Abusuapanyin Tupac further confirmed earlier claims by Afia Schwarzenegger, who stated Daddy Lumba was buried at his residence in East Legon, Accra.
He detailed that Daddy Lumba was buried at his residence in East Legon in accordance with his dying wish.
Speaking in an interview with Ezra TV on February 26, 2026, Abusuapanyin Tupac questioned, “If you chose not to attend the funeral because you were upset about the court’s verdict, how can you now claim you don’t know where Daddy Lumba was buried? You can’t skip the funeral and expect to know the burial site.
They are lucky that Afia Schwarzenegger made the location of Lumba’s burial known publicly, so saying you don’t know where he was buried is a lie,” he said.
Also, Abusuapanyin Tupac declared that no one can remove him from his position as a family head except the Asantehene.
He added, “No one can overthrow me as a family head except Otumfuo. People don’t show respect and are just talking without understanding. Who is Mama China anyway? If a family head organises a funeral, I answer only to my family.
A post-funeral review is for us, not for bloggers or outsiders. Mama China and her group need to understand that they are not part of the Ekuona clan. Even if two Ekuona members join them, that does not make them our family,” he said.
His remarks follow Mama China, spokesperson for the elderly women advocating for his removal, slamming him for allegedly organising Lumba’s funeral without involving the singer’s first wife or elder sister.
According to Mama China, the family has issued a two-week ultimatum for Abusuapanyin Kofi Owusu to appear before the Chiefs of Parkoso.
“We have given him a two-week period to appear before the Chiefs on March 11, 2026, to answer our questions or face the consequences,” she added.
Meanwhile, following the burial of late highlife legend Daddy Lumba, there are still ongoing controversies surrounding the post-burial ceremony and where he was buried.
Also, an aunt of the late highlife legend Daddy Lumba has said the family is distressed over their inability to access his body.
The aunt expressed dissatisfaction with the family head for preventing them from seeing Lumba’s body or knowing where he was buried.
According to her, they are being tormented by Daddy Lumba’s ‘ghost’.
Addressing the media on February 17, 2026, she stated, “Abusuapanyin disappointed us, and it’s a big disgrace to us, the family. I’ve never seen or heard before that someone will die and we can’t see his body till date”.
“We are really suffering. When you’re sleeping, he would just be on you. His ghost keeps tormenting us. We are pleading to everyone to put us into prayers,” she stated.
The aunt of Lumba added, “There’s a lot going on, and everyone has something to say. For us, we are behind the truth. Since the family is divided, some are happy, and others too are sad,” she shared.
“I’m a busy person, but I’m here because of the love I have for the family. Some of you are not family members, but we’ve seen the love you’ve been showing us, and we appreciate you all,” she said
“We will try as much as we can, no matter what, to find Daddy Lumba’s body,” she added.
