Photos of Ghanaian tomato traders killed in the Burkina Faso Terrorist attack have emerged on social media.
On Saturday, February 14, 2026, a truck carrying Ghanaian tomato traders was caught in a terrorist attack in Burkina Faso.
Reports alleged that several trucks transporting tomatoes were set ablaze, with male drivers and traders reportedly killed while female traders were spared.
However muliple sources suggest the circumstances surrounding the incident, including possible casualties and injuries, are yet to be officially confirmed.
The Ghana Chronicles, who shared the news on X with the images, stated, “SAD NEWS: Exclusive images have emerged of Ghanaian tomato truck drivers and traders who were k!ll£d in a brutal âttâck by extremist group Jama’at Nasr al-Islam wal Muslimin (JNIM) in Titao, northern Burkina Faso”.
Furthermore, reports suggest seven (7) Ghanaians have reportedly lost their lives in a terrorist attack on tomato traders in Titao, Burkina Faso, on Saturday, February 14, 2026.
Reports suggest all seven victims were Ghanaian male tomato buyers and the drivers of the trucks.
Alhaji Gbangbanku, a journalist who reported the attack on Saturday, revealed that the terrorists spared the Ghanaian traders who were women.
The journalist shared the news before the Ministry of the Interior in a statement confirmed the attack on Sunday, February 15, 2026.
According to Alhaji Gbangbanku, the Islamist military group, JNIM, was responsible for the attack.
He further shared pictures of some of the traders who were killed and visuals from the scene of the incident showing vehicles set ablaze.
Similarly, Eric Tuffour, the President of the Tomato and Onion Truck Drivers Association sepaking in an interview with JoyNews, corroborated the report but failed to provide an exact number of people killed in the attack.
According to Eric Tuffour, the terrorists attacked the Ghanaian trucks because they perceived them as their enemies, shooting all the men and leaving the women unharmed.
“What actually happened was that the terrorists suspected that some of their enemies had entered the country, and our vehicle was in the town at the time.
“They shot the male passengers, leaving the female passengers unharmed. All the men who were seated on top of the vehicle were shot dead,” Tuffour is quoted to have.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of the Interior confirmed the news of the attack.
According to the Ministry of the Interior, the Ghanaian tomato traders were caught in a Terrorist attack in Titao, Burkina Faso.
The Ministry of the Interior, in a statement released on February 15, signed by the Interior Minister Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, labelled the attack as ‘disturbing’.
The ministry confirmed that it received communication from Ghana’s Embassy in Burkina Faso about the deaths of some Ghanaian tomato merchants and truck drivers following an attack by the Islamist militant group JNIM in Titao, Burkina Faso.
Their statement added that the Government of Ghana is currently collaborating with the Burkinabè authorities to identify the deceased victims and facilitate the rescue and support of the surviving individuals.
Interior Ministry’s Statement published stated, “The Government of Ghana has received disturbing information from Burkina Faso of a truck carrying Tomato Traders from Ghana which was caught in a Terrorist attack in Titao, Burkina Faso on Saturday, 14 February 2026.
The Ghana Embassy in Burkina Faso is liaising with the officials of Burkina Faso to visit the attack site for details and identification of Ghanaians caught in the attack.
