Ghanaian dancehall artiste Charles Nii Armah Mensah, known professionally as Shatta Wale, has filed a defamation lawsuit against outspoken media personality Blakk Rasta.
The suit seeks GH¢100 million in damages over comments Blakk Rasta allegedly made linking Shatta Wale to individuals involved in fraudulent activities, following the arrest of Abu Trica and others.
Shatta Wale’s suit follows a viral video by Black Rasta titled “Shatta Wale, Self-Confessed King of Fraud,” on December 15, 2025.
In the writ of summons, Shatta Wale documented that the video drew significant public attention within 24 hours of its publication, attracting over 150,000 views on Facebook and more than 27,000 views on YouTube, along with thousands of comments and reactions.
He maintained that the statements portrayed him as a fraudster, thief, and morally corrupt figure, allegations he strongly denies”.
The Ghanaian dancehall artiste argued that the claim by Blakk Rasta is false, malicious, and damaging to his reputation.
Shatta Wale is asking the court to declare the statements defamatory, order the video’s permanent removal, restrain further publications, and compel a full public retraction and apology on Black Rasta’s platforms and in major newspapers.
He is also demanding GH₵100 million in damages, citing the video’s wide reach and its alleged portrayal of him as dishonest, fraudulent, and untrustworthy.
Some netizen reacting to Shatta Wale’s suit stated, “Kwasea! If we count the number of people wey you defame; you go fit pay if dem sue you? Sia”.
“SHATTA doesn’t need any money from him, but he wants to teach him a lesson the legal way cos it’s been long due someone serves as a scape goat for defaming SHATTA MOVEMENT! More to come 4DiE”, a netizen added.
One more X user added, “Lol how can he sue when there are literally so many videos of him alluding to fraud, all blakk rasta did was to replay those videos and drew a conclusion from it, what wale needs to do is watch what he says when he gets excited on stage and on livestreams”.
A netizen added, “Shatta wale thinks the court will just rule in his favor for $100 million. Everything and he wants money. Last time we wanted to book him in Uganda and he wanted to take $50 million. This man paa”.
