Nana Yaa Jantuah, a Presidential Staffer, has told Ghanaians to stop buying electricity tot-tot.
She stressed that when one buys electricity in bits, it carries you into the next bracket.
According to Nana Yaa Jantuah, Ghanaians must buy prepaid credit based on their consumption.
Speaking on Adom TV, Dwaso Nsem panel discussion, the Presidential Staffer stated, “If you buy electricity in tot-tot, it carries you into the next bracket; you must buy it in huge amounts at once if you know your consumption is 100 or 200 units; everyone has their price”.
Her remarks follow Ghanaians who have taken to social media to lament about the current pace at which prepaid electricity credits are running.
An irate Ghanaian woman has called out the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) over how quickly prepaid electricity credits are running.
According to the irate woman, a proper investigation needs to be conducted into the ECG system.
She is alleging possible foul play after several complaints about prepaid electricity credits running out too quickly.
The irate woman stressed that she purchased GH¢60 worth of credit at around 5:00 am, but by 7:00 pm the entire amount had been exhausted.
She further asserted that her concern about the prepaid electricity credits is not baseless as it has happened multiple times.
Speaking in a viral video shared on X, “This thing is becoming too much. Let’s put politics aside, let’s put NPP and NDC aside. I don’t know who is controlling the ECG. The light issues are becoming too much in Ghana; even if I place a horse in the fridge, it will not read this way.
Now, when you buy 100 cedis, it is 24 hours, then it will be exhausted. Just this dawn, my prepaid got exhausted, and around 5: 00 am I bought 60 cedis, but by 7:00 pm the entire amount had been exhausted”.
She added, “The AC here, I don’t even turn it on. I have two fridge but I use only one of them even that I don’t turn it on.
What is happening, what about us, those who don’t have work, I buy prepaid credit 100 cedis 24/7. If I should print the amount I spend on electricty you will open your mouth wide. Those who are not complaining, I am sure most of them are doing illegal”.
Also, another disgruntled Ghanaian woman has expressed deep frustration over the recent hike in electricity tariffs in Ghana.
According to the woman, she reportedly exhausted a GH¢1000 credit between 29th January and 5th February.
She explained that between the six days, five of those days she was out of town in Kumasi with all his appliances and other stuff switched off.
The woman further wondered how Ghanaians are surviving.
Speaking in a self-recorded video, she stated, “Family, I have experienced some myself, the electricity bill, and the way it is being increased. On 29th January, we bought 1000 cedis, and on that between 29 and 5 January, we spent six days in Kumasi.
Upon returning, we did not turn on any machine or appliance, but the prepaid meter had dropped from 1000 to 245 cedis. We did the electricity disappeared, and everything was switched off. I don’t know how Ghanaians are surviving, I salute you guys”.
