In related scam news, the Cybercrime Unit of the Criminal Investigations Department of the Ghana Police Service has busted ten suspects for allegedly creating fake online food delivery platforms.

On 1st October 2025, the police operation led to the arrest of three male and three female suspects.

Six suspects named Wonder Sakpiti, Sedinam Amaglo, Godsway Dunyo, Angela Agblemekpe, Mathew Aheto, and Fafali Amoah were arrested.

The police’s preliminary investigations showed the suspect created fake social media accounts and a website to impersonate Papaye, Pizzaman, KFC, and Mawarko.

Victims on the fake platforms are directed to make payment via mobile money, after which they never receive their food.

The police further revealed that the suspects sometimes gain unauthorised access to victims’ mobile money wallets and bank accounts, claiming to help them and dupe them of their funds.

On October 12, 2025, a subsequent investigation led to the arrest of the main leader and three others in Haatso in Accra.

The suspect has been identified as Elijah Sotama Etse, alias Pop Smoke (the syndicate leader), Elliot Sotama Atsu, Jethro Atsu, and Obed Selasi Agboli.

According to the police, twelve mobile phones were retrieved, and other Digital devices used in the fraudulent activities were retrieved and are undergoing forensic examination.

Meanwhile, all ten suspects are in police custody and will be processed in court on Monday, 13th October 2025.
