Yakubu Tony Aidoo, a member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has launched a missile at the party’s General Secretary, Fifi Fiavi Kwetey.
Speaking in a viral video circulating on social media on January 3, 2026, Yakubu Tony Aidoo accused the NDC General Secretary of disrespecting party supporters.
It will be recalled that during the NDC’s 31st December Revolution at Ada Fifi Fiavi Kwetey, fired NDC members calling for a third term for President John Dramani Mahama.
According to Fifi Kwetey, those calling for a third term for President Mahama are sycophants and boot lickers who are only singing his praises to gain favour from him.
He stressed that those people are only singing the praises of Mahama as the only way they can survive.
Speaking at NDC’s 31st December Revolution at Ada, the General Secretary fumed, “These days, it saddens me when I see so much sycophancy creeping into our party.
“I see a group of people who, obviously, from every indication, believe that singing the praises of a leader is the only way they can survive”.
And that’s why you hear some of those people even urging statements like there should be a 3rd term. It says nothing but sycophancy, pure sycophancy and boot licking of the highest order”.
Fifi Kwetey noted that even Jerry Rawlings, who was the founder of the NDC, was never urged by anybody to go for any 3rd term
“Jerry Rawlings, who was the founder of this party, never, at any point, was urged by anybody to go for any 3rd term. You have a bunch of sycophants who today think that all they need to do is sing praises and hope that somehow those praises will get them some opportunities that they are looking for”.
“You don’t love our country, you don’t love our party. If you do, you will not be such sycophants. It’s important for us to appreciate that this party was grounded in the need to work for our people. We say cadres may go; cadres may come, but the revolution has come to stay. That simply means it is not about individuals. It’s about us as a collective,” he said.
Reacting to the NDC’s General Secretary’s remarks, Yakubu Tony Aidoo fired him for talking rubbish.
He stated, “Talking rubbish, talking rubbish, rubbish. I sold my Land Cruiser to support the party. Who are you? Fiifi Kwetey, who are you?”
“Today or tomorrow, I will read the constitution so Ghanaians will know that we, the scrap dealers in the region, can read and understand the constitution,” he said.
“Who are you? How dare you to insult us? Fifi Kwetey. Fifi Kwetey, I’m talking to you. How dare you to insult us? Sycophant. You are the leader of Sycophants, you are a greedy Fifi Kwetey,” he indicated.
He declared, “Go and write a letter to drive me out of the party. I will make sure Fifi Kwetey loses his national election”.
“I will support President Mahama for his third term tomorrow. I will support President Mahama’s third term today. If you like, when you come, cut my head. I don’t fear you,” he said.
Meanwhile, Fifi Fiavi Kwetey had already reiterated the party’s position, dismissing claims of a third-term agenda for President John Dramani Mahama.
Speaking on Channel One TV’s Face to Face on Tuesday, December 16, Fifi Fiavi Kwetey highlighted that the NDC is committed to Ghana’s constitutional order and democratic principles.
