Family of late Capt Frank Donkor dissolves marriage with widow

On Monday, March 16, 2026, following the solemn state burial for two of the victims of the tragic Tema microlight aircraft crash, the Family of late Captain Frank Donkor has dissolved the marriage with the widow.

According to the family, although the marriage has been formally dissolved, it does not mean the widow will not be rejected by the family, as she is still their child.

The video shared on X by SIKAOFFICIAL stated, “The family of the late Captain Frank Donkor, who recently lost his life in the tragic Tema microlight aircraft crash, has formally dissolved his marriage to his young widow, bringing the union to an end”.

In the viral video shared on X, an elder stated, “In the name of God the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, we hereby dissolve the marriage between you and Frank… As of today, the marriage between you and Frank has been dissolved. This does not mean you are no longer a member of the family.

“You are still our child. So, even though you have removed the ring, you will continue to stay with us in this house, and we will take care of you. No one should think we will reject her,” the elder added.

Some netizens reacting to the news stated, “That’s very kind and thoughtful of the family, but one would have thought at least they would allow her to finish mourning the husband.

This man is a true man of God”.

A netizen added, “No need for this. Even a so-called pastor doesn’t know you don’t need a ceremony for that!! Death automatically dissolves marriage, so no need whatsoever for this charade”.

“In the Akan tradition, this part of the widowhood rite is done after the celebration of the 40 days of the passing of the deceased. This is too early”, one X user added.

“This is one of the hardest but I understand. They are ensuring that she is tied to the family for any rites. So when she meets someone soonest, she can move on in life”, a netizen added.

One more Ghanaian added, “Such a tough and sensitive moment 😔sending strength to the family and everyone affected by the tragedy. Life really throws the hardest lessons sometimes”.
