The Uncle of the baby who was stolen and later recovered at the Mamprobi Polyclinic has called for a DNA test to confirm the child’s identity.
According to the Uncle identified as Frank Banks, they are demanding that a DNA test be conducted to ascertain the bloodlines of his nephew.
Speaking to the media, Frank Banks stated, “As of this moment, the baby is ours, but I want a DNA test done to confirm that the child being given to us is truly ours”.
“You can’t just bring any child and tell us you found the baby and we should take the child home,” he stated.
He added, “What if, in the next 10 years, we want to travel with the child, and things do not match? We need a DNA test to prove the child is ours.”
Meanwhile, the Ghana Police Service has arrested a woman for allegedly stealing a newborn baby at the Mamprobi Polyclinic.
Reports suggest the baby was later rescued and reunited with the mother at the Dansoman Police Station today.
In a viral video shared by EDHUB, the woman was seen in custody at the Police station, and some irate residents were also seen at the Police station.
In a separate video, a resident at the Dansoman Police Station has revealed that the suspect was tracked down through her own sister.
Sources alleged that the suspect called her sister, claiming she had given birth and invited her over.
However, the sister, aware of reports about a missing baby, recognised the infant as the one allegedly stolen from the Mamprobi Polyclinic and alerted authorities, leading to the suspect’s arrest.
The arrest follows news of irate residents storming the Mamprobi Polyclinic over an alleged baby theft.
The information gathered suggests there was an uneasy tension yesterday afternoon, February 17, 2026, at the Mamprobi Polyclinic in the Greater Accra Region, following reports of an alleged baby theft.
Reports suggest a newborn was taken from the facility by a woman dressed as a nurse.
According to reports, the baby was stolen after the mother delivered the child through a cesarean section.
In a viral video circulating on social media Concerned relatives and community members demanded swift action as authorities intensified investigations.
The Concerned relatives and community members further accused the workers of being accomplices in the incident while recording the confrontation.
In the video, one angry woman was heard shouting, saying, “Someone gave birth through an operation, and you have stolen the child to go and sell it. All of you will suffer. Someone’s child, and this hot afternoon, you have stolen the child,”
Another voice stated, “All of them are aware and accomplices. Do you know how she has suffered?”
