“Top Military Generals know about OSP assassination attempt” – Samson Lardy

News“Top Military Generals know about OSP assassination attempt” - Samson Lardy

Samson Lardy Anyenini, a renowned broadcaster and lawyer, has shared details of the alleged assassination attempt on the Special Prosecutor, Kissi Agyebeng.

According to Samson Lardy Anyenini, top military generals in Ghana know about the OSP assassination attempt.

He further revealed that he was a witness to the Director of Research, Communications and Strategy at the OSP, Sammy Darko, being arrested at Tesano by dozens of police men.

The renowned broadcaster highlighted that the OSP assassination attempt happened at the time they were investigating recruitment scams.

Speaking on NewsFile, Samson Lardy Anyenini narrated, “In October 2022, when Sammy Darko was arrested, I was a witness at Tesano. Police were called in two different vehicles to come after him because he was refusing arrest, sitting in an OSP vehicle. He was in the middle somewhere in the road, and rolled up his windows so that they could not arrest him.

“Eventually, they arrested him. He was beaten up. He was detained. I am a witness. In fact, a report was made”.

He added, “The OSP assassination attempt, look at how quickly we are to dismiss it. But top military generals in this country know about it. Top security people knew about it at the time, at the time when his security details were being withdrawn from him.

“People have seen evidence of his vehicle, the SP vehicle, being shot at, and he was taken for dead.

“When he was not in this country, people were complaining that he was operating from abroad. Do you know how he got there? There are facts, and there are many people who know about it. Let’s not be too quick to dismiss. Let’s look for the evidence, and once we have the evidence, let’s deal with the evidence. If you are too quick to believe everybody else, except people who are affected, that is a big problem,” he said.

Samson Lardy Anyenini reiterated, “I confirm to you that, yes, Sammy Darko was arrested by dozens of police officers. I have a video of it – it’s embargoed, I cannot show it. Reports of the OSP assassination, many people in this country who are at the top of the security organisations, they know that was the period when they were investigating recruitment scams, recruitment scams at the police and other places. You think it was for nothing that they were not getting support from the police and other places; there was a reason.”

Meanwhile, the  Ministry of Interior has revealed that the assassination attempts on Special Prosecutor Kissi Agyebeng happened before 2025.

According to a statement issued by the Ministry, contacts with Mr Kissi Agyebeng revealed that the assassination attempts on him, as claimed, happened before 2025.

The Ministry further revealed that there is no record or report of such threats against Kissi Agyebeng’s life at any police station or at any of the state security agencies in the country.

The Interior Ministry statement read, “The attention of the Ministry of the Interior has been drawn to information that the Special Prosecutor (OSP), Mr Kissi Agyebeng, has survived two assassination attempts while discharging his duties to the Republic.

The Director of Strategy, Research, and Communications at the Office of the Special Prosecutor, Mr Samuel Appiah Darko, mentioned the assassination attempt on Newsfile, a television station in Accra, on December 6, 2025. He also claimed on the same programme that he had been handcuffed and beaten by 17 police personnel.

Beyond the security implications of these claims, such dangers to personnel of accountability institutions, if true, can undermine the government’s efforts to combat corruption, which have intensified since it took office. The Ministry has therefore taken up the matter with the seriousness it deserves. Here are some preliminary findings on the alleged assassination attempt”.

They further added, “Since crime does not expire, the Ministry has ordered a full-scale investigation into the claim of assassination attempts.

The Ministry has also ordered an investigation into the claim by Mr Samuel Appiah Darko that he was handcuffed and beaten by 17 police personnel”.

The Interior Ministry further added, “The Ministry will update the public on the outcome of these investigations and the actions to be taken.

The Ministry of Interior reiterates its commitment to protecting all lives and properties to ensure that all Ghanaians can conduct all their lawful affairs without any fear for their safety”.
