Joyce Bawah Mogtari, the Presidential Advisor and Special Aide to President John Dramani Mahama, has rebuked the Minority Leader in Parliament, Alexander Kwamena Afenyo-Markin, following his outburst during the 2026 SONA.

According to Joyce Bawah, the Minority Leader should have acted responsibly with his statements and claims, given his awareness of the proper channels and procedures for handling such allegations.

Joyce Bawah stressed the need of importance of evidence, stating that serious allegations require proper documentation.

Speaking on Woezor TV on March 1, 2026, Bawah Mogtari stated, “I have not seen, and of course I’m not the president’s legal counsel. I have not heard that a petition of any kind regarding a matter of this nature has actually been brought to the attention of His Excellency the President or his office, for that matter.”

“I’m sure there are other offices well placed to respond specifically whether indeed there’s been such a petition, but I also do know that because lawyers are mostly very big on evidence that if you were to have such information in your bosom, you will do well to actually even show by hand that this is the document that actually went to the presidency.

“This is a petition that was submitted on the matter, or that this is the report that you know was actually referred to the Office of the Attorney General, etc. So, I have no way of supporting this particular report,” she indicated.

Joyce Bawah Mogtari further added, “I consider that totally needless, short of just courting unnecessary public attention, I don’t see whatever value that anybody will place on that effusion by the Minority Leader”.

“If this is a rumour, if even if it is largely born out of maybe a whistleblower’s information, was that really the appropriate platform for a Minority Leader from a pseudo supposedly or one that we all expect in many ways to actually be a responsible opposition to be speaking to conjecture at such a public forum.

“If you ask me for a very professional perspective in the fact that Honourable Afenyo is a lawyer, I’m surprised that he will present it in the way that he did when there are appropriate quarters to receive this,” she added.

Joyce Bawah Mogtari’s remarks follow Alexander Afenyo-Markin, who duirng the SONA, alleged that there is a scandal looming in security services recruitment.

Alexander Afenyo-Markin alleged that Trybe Net, which has been tasked by the Interior Ministry with the online security services recruitment, is duping innocent Ghanaians and unemployed youths.

According to Afenyo-Markin, the minority will pursue the person and make sure there is full disclosure.

The minority leader further alleged that Trybe Net, in connivance with an appointee of the government and she will be exposed.

Speaking in response to the 2026 State of the Nation Address, Afenyo-Markin stated, “We are happy they are showing a picture trying to embarrass the former finance minister, Ken Ofori-Atta. Very soon, a senior appointee who is in charge of Trybenet will go to jail.

So the one behind Trybe Net, the one who introduced Trybe Net to the Ministry, who is chopping money. We are happy you are showing pictures. Very soon we will bring her picture. The one in charge of Trybe Net duping innocent Ghanaians, duping the unemployed youths, there are many youths who are looking for jobs, and this Trybe Net with connivance with an appointee of the government she will be exposed, so you continue with Ken Ofori-Atta. So and very soon it will be your turn”.

“As we speak, there is a scandal looming in security services recruitment, Trybe Net. We know who brought that company to the Ministry. Karma has a way, and the Minority will pursue the person and make sure there is full disclosure”, he added.
