Paul Adom-Otchere, a Ghanaian media personality and host of Good Evening Ghana, has slammed the National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketia.

Adom-Otchere’s criticism follows Asiedu Nketia, citing the late Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings, wife of the late founder of the NDC, Jerry John Rawlings, in his criticism of a former party stalwart, Mohammed Umar Sanda, who is contesting the Ayawaso-East by-election as an independent candidate.

According to Paul Adom-Otchere, Nana Konadu left the NDC on her principles following issues such as vote buying, manipulation and intimidation in internal party contests.

He stressed that Ghanaians continue to respect Nana Konadu for her values and contributions, and therefore, her memory should not be ridiculed by Asiedu Nketia or anyone.

Paul Adom Otchere further called on Asiedu Nketiah to retract the statement.

Speaking on his Good Evening Ghana show on February 27, 2026, Paul Adom Otchere stated,  “What worried me was the reference to Mrs Rawlings. It was so unnecessary and even derogatory. This is a woman who spent the best part of her adult life establishing a party that you, Johnson, benefit from. And now that she has passed, this is what you say about her”.

“This is what you can say about Mrs Rawlings. I am not a member of the NDC, but I admire Mrs Rawlings for the work she did. Everyone misses Mrs Rawlings for the work she did. And everyone admires Mrs Rawlings for the principles on which he left the NDC, vote buying, vote manipulation, intimidation in internal party contests, and vote buying, vote manipulation, intimidation in internal party contests.

“These are the matters that drove Mrs Rawlings away from the NDC. These are principles that she firmly stood by, because she’s coming from the unadulterated NDC of property accountability, “he added.

Paul Adom-Otchere’s remarks follow Asiedu Nketiah, who was speaking at a campaign rally in Nima ahead of the Ayawaso East by-election, slamming former NDC member Mohammed Umar Sanda for contesting the election as an independent candidate.

Asiedu Nketia urged him to withdraw his decision or face consequences and further cited Nana Konadu’s departure from the NDC to form her own party while she was alive.

According to Asiedu Nketia, Nana Konadu left the NDC, but the party did not collapse how much more Mohammed Umar Sanda, who is in Nima.

Asiedu Nketia stated, “Our late father Rawlings, who brought the party, his wife decided to form her own party. She herself left, so the one who brought the party even left, and the party didn’t collapse. So, you in Nima, what makes you think that leaving the party will collapse it?”

Meanwhile, Fifi Fiavi Kwetey, the General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has disclosed that the late former First Lady, Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings, was ready to rejoin the party before her death.

Speaking after leading an NDC delegation to her residence, Fifi Kwetey stated, “I wouldn’t say the talks were unsuccessful. I would rather say that the timing was the challenge, because even on her part, you could clearly see that she was ready”.

“We have constantly said that with the role she played in forming this party and making it great and strong—despite the difficulties that came along the way—we needed to put those behind us. I am happy that during her time, these efforts started and she embraced them,” he explained.

“The party will miss her dearly,” he added.
