Police Inspector Ahmed Twumasi , the police officer who fatally shot his girlfriend, has been sentenced to life imprisonment by the Kumasi High Court.

Inspector Twumasi fatally shot his girlfriend, Victoria Dapaah, also known as Maa Adwoa, multiple times to death two years ago at Adum in Kumasi.

On Friday, October 24, 2025, the court delivered its ruling, bringing an emotional close to a case that shocked the nation.

Inspector Twumasi used his service rifle to end the life of the woman he professed to love.

According to the court’s findings, Inspector Twumasi shot Victoria Dapaah, the deceased, multiple times.

In the abdomen and chest at close range on April 20, 2023, at Adum in Kumasi.

The prosecutors described the act by Inspector Twumasi as cold-blooded and premeditated, which was carried out with a state-issued firearm.

On Friday, October 24, 2025, the jury returned a 5-2 guilty verdict.

Their decision was met with visible relief from the victim’s family members, who had gathered in court.

Inspector Twumasi, in court, appeared emotionless as the sentence was handed down.

It will be recalled that he was arrested three days after the incident on April 23, 2023, at Sekyere near Effiduase in the Ashanti Region, following a targeted police operation.

The late Victoria’s friends described her as vibrant, ambitious, and full of life.

Her death, they said, has left a unique void in their lives.

Meanwhile, the defence team of Inspector Ahmed Twumasi were given one month to file an appeal.

In a viral video sighted, Twumasi, captured in handcuffs, was whisked away under heavy security moments after the Kumasi High Court sentenced him to life imprisonment.

He avoided eye contact as onlookers gathered outside the court premises to witness his departure.

Spokesperson of the deceased Nana Addo Barima family and Uncle of the stated, “We have been on this case for quite some time, and now the verdict is out. But we have concerns about the slow pace of justice.”

“We are appealing to the State for compensation. Our daughter left behind a child. What does the law say about that? The child needs help, and we appeal to the authorities to help us take care of her.”
