Over 50 mobile phone shops have been destroyed in a fire that erupted behind the VVIP Station at Kwame Nkrumah Circle.

The Circle fire started on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, around 10 a.m.

Personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service responded swiftly to bring the situation under control.

Officials from the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) and the Klotey Korle Municipal Assembly are also at the scene.

However, details about the exact cause of the blaze and whether any injuries or casualties were recorded are yet to be known.

A netizen who posted the news wrote, “A fire has broken out at Circle in Accra, just behind the Royal VVIP Station, sweeping through several structures.

Two fire tenders have been deployed to the scene as efforts to contain the blaze continue”.

Meanwhile, in related fire news, a domestic fire has consumed 14 rooms at Kukurizua in the Bawku West District of the Upper East Region.

A report from the Ghana Fire Service detailed that the domestic fire outbreak destroyed 14 rooms in a multiple-room residential building.

The Fire Service revealed they received a distress call after which firefighters were deployed just two minutes later at 1010 hours, with the team arriving at 1015 hours with the fire already raging.

The Firefighters worked swiftly to contain the blaze by 1055 hours and fully extinguished it at 1120 hours.

According to the Fire Service, 14 rooms were extensively damaged by the fire, with four other rooms salvaged by the actions of the firefighters.

The GNFS detailed that the fire destroyed portions of the building’s roofing, along with electronic appliances, furniture, and other household.

Also, no injuries or fatalities were reported.

Meanwhile, the Ghana National Fire Service are currently investigating the situation that led to the outbreak.
