The moment the Education Minister, Haruna Iddrisu, and the Deputy Communications Minister, Adams Sukparu, were airlifted to Accra following near fatal road accident has surfaced on social media.
Reports suggest that Haruna Iddrisu, Adams Sukparu and other victims were airlifted from Tumu for medical attention in Accra.
In a viral video shared on X, a huge number of residents of Tumu were spotted watching as an ambulance moved victims of the accident on board a helicopter to Accra.
The video has emerged following news yesterday, February 12, 2026, of the Minister of Education and the Deputy Minister of Communications and Digital Technology involved in a road accident.
Reports suggest the two Ministers are in stable condition following a road accident on the Bolgatanga-Tumu Road on Thursday, February 12, 2026.
According to reports, the accident happened in the early hours of Thursday, February 12.
The two ministers in their convoys were travelling to the Upper West Region to attend the 40th anniversary celebrations of Tumu College of Education and Jahan College of Education.
In a statement issued the same day, Hashmin Mohammed, Press Secretary to the Education Minister, stated, “The Office of the Honourable Minister for Education. Hon. Haruna Iddrisu wishes to inform the public that the Minister and the Deputy Minister for Communications and Digital Technology, Hon. Mohammed Adams Sukparu, are in stable condition following a road traffic accident involving their convoy on the Bolgatanga- Tumu Road today.
The Ministers and their respective teams were en route to official engagements to commemorate the 40th Anniversary celebrations of Tumu College of Education and Jahan College of Education in the Upper West Region when the incident occurred.
All members of the convoy are currently in stable condition and receiving the necessary medical attention.
The Office expresses its appreciation to emergency responders, health professionals, and members of the public for their swift assistance and concern. Further updates will be communicated, as necessary”.
Meanwhile, some Ghanaians reacting to the video stated, “We just need some confirmation from them that they are okay”.
Another netizen added, “Know your size in the country And drive accordingly. If you wouldn’t be airlifted within thirty mins apply your sense. Don’t speed like you’re in a Movie. The hospital in Bolga wasn’t good enough for him.
Is not good enough for you either. Be safe out there”.
“Does the airlift work for normal Ghanaians in distress in areas cars can’t get to in record time? Ghana will happen to you”, a netizen added.
One more Ghanaian wrote, “These same MPs and ministers were forcing doctors to go and work in the hospitals in the north, but these same MPs and ministers don’t want to receive treatment there. Hypocrites. These men are from the north as well”.
