Why will ‘richman’ McDan take money meant for ‘poor’ Ghanaians? – MASLOC boss wonders

NewsWhy will 'richman' McDan take money meant for 'poor' Ghanaians? - MASLOC boss wonders

Daniel McKorley, popularly known as McDan, Chief Executive Officer of the McDan Group of Companies, a Ghanaian conglomerate, has been fingered in the list of people who defaulted on loans taken from the Microfinance and Small Loans Centre (MASLOC).

It is unclear what amount of loan McDan took and defaulted, but Acting Chief Executive Officer of MASLOC, Abigail Akwambea Elorm Mensah, lamented why prominent individuals with strong footing will still dip their hands in funds established to support poor Ghanaians.

Abigail Akwambea Elorm Mensah has noted issues of non-repayment of loans by some politically exposed persons.

Speaking on Radio Gold, Abigail Akwambea Elorm Mensah, the MASLOC CEO, stated, “Some of the names on our list of defaulters are very shocking. Someone like McDan, why will McDan’s name be in the books of MASLOC, a fund set up to support poor Ghanaians and the youth, the likes of Reverend John Ntim Fordjour, MP for Assin South Constituency, all defaulted but he (Ntim Fordjour) cleared his debt after his name was mentioned on air, also Bice Osei Kuffour, popularly known as Obour, Bill Asamoah, Somani Bawumia a relative of Dr Bawumia, Hawa Koomson, Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin.”

According to the MASLOC CEO, Alexander Afenyo-Markin took GHS500,000 via the Effutu Constituency MP to benefit some persons in his constituency under the previous administration and has since failed to fulfill his repayment obligations.

Meanwhile, according to Ghana Chronicles, Alexander Afenyo-Markin has settled the loan he took for his constituents.
