Ralf Rangnick, head coach of Austria, has told Ghanaians not to be too emotional following the Black Stars’ humiliating 5-1 defeat to his side.

According to Ralf Rangnick, Ghanaians should not be too emotional about Otto Addo, as he does not think that with a different coach, the result would have been any different.

Speaking at a post-match interview following his Austrian side’s thrashing of the Black Stars, Ralf Rangnick stated, “Ghana qualified for the World Cup with Otto Addo as manager. So the most important thing is that they qualified.

At least we don’t overrate this game and this result. I remember that we played Turkey two years ago before the Euros. We beat them 6-1 here, but then we played against Turkey again in the round of 16 at the Euros, and we lost 2-1, unfortunately. But luckily for Turkey”.

“So, I wouldn’t rate that too much. Let’s wait and see how they play against Germany on Tuesday, and then it might be a completely different story again. Don’t be so emotional about your coach. Otto is a good one, and I don’t think that with another manager it would have been a different result,” Rangnick added.

Some Ghanaians reacting to his remarks stated, “He’s right. Ghana’s problem is not coaching only, it’s the system. What foundation have we laid down as a country to develop players? Just look at our local league very poor”.

“This is actually pure disrespect, to be honest. What exactly does he mean by that? We can’t beat him as the head coach of Austria, or what? We’ve beaten better countries, what’s Austria’s achievement on the world stage?? Such disrespect”, a netizen added.

One X user added,“Seriously, I don’t blame him, ebi the GFA and the Blackstars management Committee wey ago blame. How can an association set out a criterion to select a new coach, but end up throwing away the criteria and appoint a trainer scout as a coach? Someone who abounded the team when they exited their last World Cup, which was disastrous by the way. Get that fraud out of the team simple”.

Also, Nana Aba Anamoah, a renowned media personality, has vented out her displeasure following the Ghana Black Stars suffered a crushing 5-1 defeat at the hands of Austria in an international friendly on Friday.

According to Nana Aba Anamoah, the government led by the Sports Ministry is raising funds for a listless, uninspiring, poorly led and badly managed Black Stars while Ghanaians are dying in our hospitals because there’s no access to basic equipment.

In a post shared on X after the Black Stars’ thrashing defeat, Nana Aba wrote, “People are dying in our hospitals because there’s no access to basic equipment.

Yet you’re out here raising funds for a listless, uninspiring, poorly led and badly managed Black Stars”.
