Ibrahim Mahama, the CEO of Engineers & Planners Ltd & Dzata Cement Ltd, has said one can not be the richest man forever, as one will die one day and leave their riches.

According to Ibrahim Mahama, if a rich person lives in a country where help is needed, and does not help that person is a stupid man.

Speaking to some creatives in the Ashanti Region, Ibrahim Mahama stated, “If you live in a country where help is needed and you don’t help, you are a stupid man. You can’t be the richest man in this country forever.

You’ll die and leave it one day. Let’s try and work together and put all our differences aside. It doesn’t matter. We will always have one president, one MP. We can’t have two MPs in one constituency”.

He added, “You can’t hold this country like that…People have come and gone, people will come and go so the small time we have in this country, let’s help one another. There is no big man; we are all the same”.

Some Ghanaians have reacted to his comments, saying, “Ibrahim Mahama dropping timeless wisdom, wealth fades, legacy lasts. You can stack money, but you can’t take it with you; impact is the real currency”.

“Any man who factors death into his communication and advice is really wise”, one more stated.

“Words of wisdom…… “Show me, O LORD, my end and the measure of my days. Let me know how fleeting my life is. Psalm 39:4”, another netizen wrote.

His comments come following the Minister for Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, revealed that more than 80 former government officials under the erstwhile Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo-led government have been brought in for questioning over various corruption cases by the office of the Attorney.

Speaking on Accra-based Metro TV’s Good Morning Ghana TV program, the minister asserted that about 280 cases of corruption involving more than 80 past government officials are being investigated.

Felix Kwakye stated, “So you may not know. But I can tell you, over 80 different people have been interviewed. Some of them have been given bail quietly. Some of them have people standing surety for them. 80? 80. And more. And this is something that continues to happen. And let me tell you, all the 280 cases that Oram presented have been looked into.

All of them, bar none. So that has been done. There are some done naturally because of the actors involved and their own attempts to seek support from their base. It gets to the front burner. Because when they are invited or arrested, they mobilise people to come and make noise, to demand their release. So that one naturally is covered by the media. And then sometimes even the media gets wind of it, and so you blow it up,” he said

He added, “That is standard practice. It is not everything that comes before the Attorney General or prosecutorial bodies that they take to court. In fact, there may yet be instances where there is evidence of wrongdoing. But perhaps the weight of the evidence may be insufficient. Because in criminal cases, you have to meet a certain height ratio that it must be beyond a reasonable doubt.

So there are instances where you see that yes, there are questions to be answered. The questions have not been satisfactorily answered. But if you take it to court, you may not get the evidence that is required to secure a conviction. So you leave it at that until a time when you get additional evidence,” he added.
