Nana Aba Anamoah and Kwasi Kwarteng

Nana Aba Anamoah, a renowned Ghanaian media personality, has clapped back at Kwasi Kwarteng, a spokesperson for Ken Agyapong’s campaign, after he labelled her a political opportunist.

According to Nana Aba Anamoah, Kwasi Kwarteng has never exactly been the brightest bulb in the room.

Nana Aba further labelled Kwasi Kwarteng as a square peg, regardless of how many round holes you’re placed in, adding that the NPP man, after occupying key positions in this country, should show better judgment.

In a social media post on X, Nana Aba Anamoah wrote, “Kwasi Kwarteng, you’ve never exactly been the brightest bulb in the room.

I’m a proud Woman of Valour. I don’t kowtow to any political party. I’m not intimidated by anyone in the NDC or NPP because, unlike some journalists and civil society voices, I have a mind of my own. I speak freely. How you choose to interpret my posts is entirely your business.

One would expect a man who has occupied key positions in this country to show better judgment. Yet here we are. Still a square peg, regardless of how many round holes you’re placed in.

The aircraft has already been procured for the presidency. Delivery has been delayed. So let’s keep it simple. If my own sibling has a perfectly safe Rolls-Royce available, does it make sense for me to go and rent another?

By all means, respond with another long epistle filled with twisted logic, nonfa, and the usual effort to impress the camp of your party’s flag bearer.

They already know you’re full of noise”.

Her comments follow Kwasi Kwarteng in a post, who was responding to a GHOne News flyer which quoted Nana Aba Anamoah to have said, “If my blood sibling owns a Rolls Royce, would it make sense to rent another when his is readily available?”

Reacting to the post, Kwasi Kwarteng described Nana Aba Anamoah as a political opportunist whose principles only align with the mood of the moment and the benefits that accrue to them.

According to Kwasi Kwarteng from Nana Aba’s logic, President Mahama should vacate the Jubilee House and operate from his brother’s Engineers and Planners office.

In a post on X, Kwesi Kwarteng wrote, “Perhaps the President should vacate the Jubilee House and operate from his brother’s Engineers and Planners office. After all, why maintain state infrastructure when family property exists?

Better still, consider disbanding the presidential security detail and replacing it with whatever private guards Ibrahim Mahama has.  That will save the state some money. Isn’t it?

And while we’re at it, maybe the President should forgo his salary and simply draw allowances from his rich brother, efficiency, right?

An extension of this logic would mean, any future president whose sibling owns a taxi instead of a Rolls-Royce or private jet should prepare for diplomatic missions via commercial taxi. After all, consistency is key.

But we understand, the Nana Aba’s logic; when power shifts, principles tend to follow. A familiar hallmark of a political opportunist, whose principles only align with the mood of the moment and the benefits that accrue to them.

Woman of Valour indeed!”

Meanwhile, the Executive Secretary to the President, John Dramani Mahama, Dr Callistus Mahama, has announced that Ghana will receive additional aircraft for the presidential fleet by November 2026.

According to Dr Callistus Mahama, one of the aircraft will be dedicated to the President’s travel.

He revealed that once Ghana’s aircraft are delivered, President Mahama will no longer use the private jet belonging to his brother, Ibrahim Mahama, for official travel.

In an opinion piece, Dr Callistus Mahama stated, “Many of the state institutions the President inherited—including key operational capacities within the security services—require rebuilding, re-equipping, and careful reform. The Ghana Armed Forces, which play an important role in state aviation, are part of that ongoing process of renewal.

Plans are already underway to strengthen Ghana’s presidential air transport capability as part of the broader retooling of the Armed Forces. By November this year, the country is expected to have additional aircraft within the presidential fleet, including one dedicated to the President’s travel.

When that happens, Ghana will once again have the capacity to rely fully on its own state assets for the safe and efficient transportation of the Head of State. It will also remove the need for the kind of temporary arrangements that have generated the current discussion”.
