Christian Tetteh Yohuno, the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), has announced the promotion of 17 police officers for their exceptional performance.
According to the Police social media post, the 17 officers were promoted for their key role in the seizure of 10 wrapped slabs of cocaine valued at GHC 1,032.650.00.
In a Facebook post on Wednesday, January 28, the Police statement read, “The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Mr Christian Tetteh Yohuno, on 27th January 2026, promoted seventeen police officers in recognition of their outstanding professionalism and dedication in the discharge of their duties”.
The promotions were awarded to officers who played key roles in separate operations that led to the interception of ten(10) wrapped slaps of substances suspected to be cocaine, a narcotic with an estimated value of GHC 1,032.650.00 and sacks of substances suspected to be narcotic drugs at Ho in the Volta Region, as well as the recovery of AK 47 rifle, a pump action gun and eight live AAA ammunition during a routine patrol operation in Jacobu.
The IGP, together with members of the Police Management Board (POMAB), congratulated the officers on their elevation and commended them for upholding the core values of the Service through discipline, courage, and professionalism.
IGP Yohuno urged the promoted officers to view their promotion as a call to higher responsibility and encouraged all personnel to continue working diligently, assuring them that excellence and integrity remain the basis for recognition and promotion within the Ghana Police Service”, the post concluded.
In recent weeks, the IGP has been promoting Police Officers who demonstrated exceptional professionalism and dedication.
The IGP earlier promoted seventeen Police Officers in recognition of their exemplary conduct, professionalism, and dedication to duty.
IGP Yohuno promoted the officers to their next ranks today, 14th January 2026.
On Wednesday, January 14, 2025, the Police service in a post on social media stated, “The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mr Christian Tetteh Yohuno, on 14th January 2026, promoted seventeen Police Officers, including two(2) Senior Officers, to their next ranks in recognition of their exemplary conduct, professionalism, and dedication to duty.
The promotions were granted in appreciation of the officers’ distinguished performance in the discharge of their responsibilities, particularly their commitment to operational excellence, discipline, and service to the nation.
The gesture forms part of the Service’s broader effort to motivate personnel who demonstrate outstanding commitment and integrity in the line of duty.
They encouraged all personnel of the Service to continue upholding the highest standards of professionalism, loyalty, and service to the public”.
Meanwhile, Christian Tetteh Yohunu has said officers of the Ghana Police Service can no longer be bribed.
According to IGP Yohunu, anyone who attempts to bribe a Police Officer in the line of duty will be disgraced.
He stressed that Police Officer now prefer to be promoted for good behaviour rather than accept bribes.
Speaking at an event, the Inspector General of Police stated, “Today, I assure you, you cannot bribe a policeman anymore. If you attempt to bribe a police man, he will disgrace you. They all want to be promoted for good behaviour”.
“We want to be one of the best police in the world, and we are carving that image, which generation upon generation will follow, so that we get our glory back and make everybody in Ghana proud,” he said.
