News“Our prayer is that Ghana must succeed, Mahama must not fail” – Rev Ntim Fordjour

Rev John Ntim Fordjour, the Ranking Member on the Defence and Interior Committee of Parliament, has urged Ghanaians to pray that President John Mahama does not fail.

According to Ntim Fordjour,  a president must not fail before another person takes power from him.

He stressed that Ghana’s prayer is that the country must succeed, whichever political party one belongs to.

Rev John Ntim Fordjour, during a church service, leading a prayer session, stated, “Our prayer is that Ghana must succeed. Our prayer is that President Mahama must not fail. Whatever political party you belong to, let this be your prayer, because the President must not fail before another takes over from him”.

Some Ghanaians reacting to Rev Ntim Fordjour’s remarks stated, “He was talking like Napo and others till he realised that there is no way Mahama will fail….NPP di3 45 years opposition paa. If this is your new year resolution to be truthful and patrotic then may God answer you”.

A netizen added, “This is what a typical Ghanaian should have in mind: one nation, one people, one  Ghana. Let’s pray for the government to progress so that we can have a convenient environment for all of us. Ghana doesn’t belong to NPP nor NDC”

“Na only today you Dey talk sense. Definitely not from his heart. We know this people. He is saying that because he knows President Mahama will succeed with his prayer or without his prayer”, a Ghanaian added.

Additionally, an X user added, “If this is your new year resolution to be truthful and patrotic then may God answer you. Ghanaian will not fail him. You fail Ghanaian without mercy, allow the man to reset your trousers well”

Meanwhile, President John Dramani Mahama, in his New Year’s Message to the Nation on January 1, 2026, has called on Ghanaians to rise above partisan divisions and embrace collective nation-building.

He highlighted that whether some Ghanaians voted for him or not, they are all Ghanaians, adding that the reset agenda is for all Ghanaians.

He further detailed that Ghana’s development agenda must transcend political affiliation, regardless of how citizens voted in past elections.

President Mahama added that Ghana faces pressing challenges that need collective unity, adding that political conflict risks diverting attention and resources.

Mahama added, “We are one people with a shared destiny, whether you voted for me or not, whether you supported the NDC or not. We are all Ghanaians, and this reset is for all of us”.

“Let’s reject the politics of division and embrace the patriotism of nation-building. Let us disagree without being disagreeable. Let’s compete in the marketplace of ideas without treating our opponents as our enemies”.

“The challenges that we face are too urgent, and the opportunities before us are too precious for us to waste our time and energy in needless conflict”, he added.

President Mahama further made a rallying call to every Ghanaian to support the government in its efforts to build the nation.
