A mugshot photo of the 2024 New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary candidate for the Klottey Korle Constituency, Valentino Nortey, being processed for detention by US security authorities has surfaced following his arrest.
According to reports, the photo was taken when the accused, Valentino Nortey, was being processed for detention by US security authorities.
The photo, shared by wgal.com, a US-based news portal, captured the NPP parliamentary candidate in a prison uniform.
Valentino Nii Noi Nortey was arrested in the United States for allegedly stabbing his wife.
According to reports, Valentino Nii Noi Nortey has been remanded into custody in Pennsylvania, USA.
Reports from Lower Paxton Township Police reveal the incident occurred around 10 a.m. on Saturday, January 17, 2026, along Mayfair Drive in Pennsylvania.
On Monday, a statement released by the police provided an update, saying, “The woman was taken to the hospital by first responders and is currently in stable condition,” police confirmed, further clarifying that the event was an isolated domestic incident and that “there was never any threat to the public.”
According to abc27.com, the stabbing was part of a domestic incident.
Valentino Nii Noi Nortey is facing charges such as Criminal Attempt – Homicide, Possessing an Instrument of Crime with Intent to Use and Tampering with or Fabricating Physical Evidence.
Records show that the former NPP MP was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge David Judy and was denied bail due to the homicide charge and the circumstances of the arrest.
The former NPP MP is currently being held at the Dauphin County Prison as his legal team is preparing for a preliminary hearing scheduled for January 26, 2026.
Valentino Nii Noi Nortey was well known in the 2016 and 2020 election cycles when he rose to national prominence.
Meanwhile, the family of the wife of former New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary candidate for Klottey Korle, Valentino Nii Noi Nortey, has revealed why the former MP stabbed his wife, Gilda Norty, in the US.
Speaking on Citi News, the family of Gilda Norty revealed that the former MP stabbed his wife three times.
According to David Gyapanin, uncle to Gilda Norty, the former MP and his wife were having challenges in their marriage.
The uncle of Gilda Norty added that his niece had wanted to file for divorce if things remained the same.
He stressed that his niece told him the former NPP MP threatened to either kill himself or kill her.
David Gyapanin, uncle to Gilda Norty, in the interview stated, “They had a little argument, and my niece said she may file for divorce if things continue that way. My niece said Valentino threatened to either kill himself or kill her. He stabbed her three times. She pleaded with him to take her to the hospital. He agreed on condition that she would not mention his name,” he said.
“Fortunately, she had the car key and managed to drive to the hospital where she works. She is getting better. As a family, we want nothing less than justice.”
“It happened in the States, and we want to believe that the laws there will be enforced fully. You can’t marry someone’s daughter, and just because she says she no longer wants the marriage, decide to end her life. If justice isn’t served in the States, when he comes to Ghana, we will seek justice,” he added.
