Phillis Naa Koryoo Okunor, a member of parliament for Awutu Senya East, has said there are no wee boys in Kasoa.
According to the Awutu Senya East, ghetto boys in Kasoa do not engage in smoking, but they drink ‘Ataya’, a local tea drink.
She highlighted that her constituency has much to offer and that she is working diligently to improve its public image.
Speaking in an interview on Metro TV Ghana on March 16, 2026, Phillis Naa Koryoo Okunor stated, “There are no ‘wee boys’ in Kasoa. In every community, there may be ghettos, but that does not mean they smoke. My boys take Ataya. They don’t smoke – it’s not ‘wee’; it’s a drink.”
The Awutu Senya East MP further disclosed that she is familiar with many of the ghetto boys in her communities and regularly interacts with them.
Phillis Naa Koryoo Okunor further disclosed that she gives the Kasoa boys Ataya as she love Ataya and drinks some.
“I know them. I spend time with them. I give them Ataya because Ataya is tea…Yes, I take Ataya, we give them Ataya and sugar …because Ataya goes with a lot of sugar because Ataya is very bitter. I love Ataya, I drink Ataya because Ataya is tea.”
“I have never seen or heard of Ataya being laced with ‘wee.’ As far as I know, they do not smoke at all it is pure Atay”, she added.
Some Ghanaians on X reacting to the MP for Awutu Senya East’s remarks stated, “An MP just defended a constituency’s drug reputation using her own tea habits.

Is this relatability or is this the bar we’ve set for parliamentary representation?”.
Another X user added, “kwasia they talk as if those dbees in east legon sef dont smoke weed..I don’t smoke weed, but I would never judge someone smoking weed. If you don’t smoke weed and someone smokes, you’re gonna label him as bad?..u might take alcohol, they also won’t.”.
One more X user added, “We regret voting for her. She’s basically doing nothing, we don’t even hear her voice in parliament. She should up her game or else it’ll be her last time in parliament”.
A netizen added, “When you use the old market stretch, you will see the boys smoking late in the evening. What is she saying and not doing anything productive? It’s affecting us, a country called Ghana, only God can save us”.
“This woman does nothing. So many illegal migrants in the Kasoa Wallantu area, and she’s doing nothing about it. Nobody knows who they are or where they’re from. They just showed in large quantities”, one X user added.
A netizen added, “If you contributed to making this thing a parliamentarian, then more people have issues in that community”.

This is a disgrace”.
