A teacher at Nyinahini Catholic Senior High School has been arrested after a viral video captured him assaulting a female student on campus.
In the trending video, the teacher at Nyinahin Catholic Senior High School in Atwima Mponua district was involved in a physical altercation with a female student in the school’s dormitory.
The teacher in the viral video repeatedly punched the female student and, at one point, lifted her and threw her to the ground, leaving her helpless.
In the viral footage, some people were heard urging the teacher to consider that the student was a girl and to refrain from assaulting her.
However, the teacher, who appeared obviously enraged, answered back by asking, “Is she aware she is a lady?”
Reports suggest the circumstances that led to the confrontation have not yet been disclosed by school authorities.
According to the Public Relations Officer of the Ghana Education Service (GES), Daniel Fenyi, in a Facebook post on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, the teacher has been arrested.
Daniel Fenyi, in a Facebook post, wrote, “The Nyinahini Catholic SHS teacher seen in the viral video fighting a female student arrested! Regional education directorate is investigating the matter. Full report to be submitted to HQ”.
Meanwhile, the GES regional education directorate has launched an investigation into the incident.
Some netizens reacting to the video stated, “This is very serious. I know they are going to blame the girl simply because she is young. That is the classic Ghanaian vibe. The teacher went very far by fighting the girl. It seems he has lost his moral authority. He has to be investigated….”.
A netizen added, “The global community appears to hold differing perspectives on gender-related issues; had the female student been capable of overpowering the instructor, it is unlikely that calls for her apprehension would have materialised”.
One X user added, “You see that school, Mawuli School at Ho, that at a point went rosy on the internet nu; there’s a French teacher there called Nufe. I swear to the almighty God that Nufe used to beat people with a metal rake, mop and anything at all he could grab. Man really left me traumatized”.
A netizen added, “But wait ooo what is a male teacher doing around a girls’ dormitory, talk less fighting her? It’s always those people from that particular region doing nonsense”.
“I think it’s student first don’t know about that in our country, but no matter how threatening a student is, you don’t get to take the matter into your hands. The first point of contact should be the school authorities; if they don’t act, then maybe the police. But never take matters into your hands- no, no!”, one X user added.
One last X user added, “Upon seeing this video, it breaks my heart in a way; per what is going on, it’s an assault on the younger one. But what will even give you that confidence to go blow to blow with your teacher! That’s another angle. Students these days err, as a teacher, you should be very careful”.
