Godsbrain Smart Nkansah, popularly known as Captain Smart, a broadcast journalist, has thrown shade at former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo during an event while introducing President John Dramani Mahama.
Captain Smart, in a viral video, was the master of ceremonies (MC) and introduced President Mahama to deliver his speech.
The broadcast Journalist introducing Mahama described him as a leader who listens to the people and does not discriminate.
He also asserted that President Mahama is a President who does not ask chiefs to stand before greeting them, as former President Akufo-Addo was noted for.
In the viral video, Captain Smart stated, “The president who listens, the president who does not discriminate, the president who does not ask chiefs to stand up before he greets them… help me welcome John Dramani Mahama”.
President Mahama, who was seated after the introduction, stood up, smiling and waved to the audience before taking his seat again.
In other news, Captain Smart has warned President John Dramani Mahama about a possible coup attempt to topple his administration.
According to Captain Smart, President Mahama must be careful, or else he won’t complete his second term in office.
Speaking on his Onua Maakye show, Captain Smart stated, “I don’t care about the National Security, and the military, I don’t care, I just don’t sit here just like that. John Mahama, listen to me properly, today I will not call you His Excellency.
Whoever is listening and watching, tell him, if Mahama does not go to grade the land, he might not be able to complete his four years. There are so many coups in Africa, and I support all of them”.
Captain Smart added, “The one that is going to happen in February, I support it; the one that is going to happen in April, during Easter in Ghana, I support it; it will not happen in Ghana, but I support it.
Africa is the richest continent, but we have the poorest mentally poor people, who are not able to lead us the way we want”.
Meanwhile, Tsatsu Tsikata, the renowned legal practitioner, has warned the John Mahama-led government appointees over the danger of becoming complacent.
The renowned legal practitioner cautioned Mahama’s appointees against measuring their success in governance by marginal improvement over the Akufo-Addo administration.
According to Tsatus Tsikata, such an approach breeds complacency and weak leadership.
He highlighted that public service must not be reduced to comparison politics, where officials are satisfied simply because they perform a little better than those who came before them.
Speaking at the ceremony to rename the NDC’s national headquarters on June 22, 2026, Tsatsu Tsikata stated, “There is a danger, especially after what the country went through in the disastrous 2017 to 2024 period, under then President Akufo-Addo and his Vice President Bawumia.
“There is a danger that we lower the bar of what the nation expects of us in the NDC and that we aim to be just a little better than the previous government”, he stated.
“Appointees would only seek to compare themselves to their predecessors and, by that measure, be content with some improvements in performance and therefore become complacent,” he said.
