The caretaker of Hallelujah Hostel at Koforidua Technical University has fumed over Rent Control Commissioner inspecting the facility.
According to the Caretaker of Hallelujah Hostel, whoever reported them to Rent Control is better off dead than living.
The Caretaker further went on to curse the student who reported them to Rent Control, quizzing whether they expect them to come and clean the hostel after renting the rooms.
Speaking in a leaked audio shared on X by EDHUB, the Caretaker of Hallelujah Hostel stated, “Whoever went to report us to the Rent Control Department, you’ve done yourself more damage than good. I promise you, whatever disgrace you’ve gone to bring upon us, you’ll pay for it for the rest of your life. No anointing will change it. Whoever went to report us will really suffer.”
When you are living in a room, who has to clean the room for you? After renting the room, should I come and clean the room for you?”.
The Caretaker of Hallelujah Hostel stated, “You keep yourself dirty and report that the place is dirty. Whoever went to report will suffer. If they close down Hallelujah Hostel, it is a second income we are working for.
Whoever did it, you have cursed yourself; you are better off dead than living. After doing this, will you go and sleep at the hostel? Posterity will judge whoever has done this. Whoever put that thing on TikTok, be ready; you will suffer in this life”.
Some Ghanaians reacting to the leaked audio stated, “This is one problem with some blind religious Ghanaians… you attribute all this mentioning God’s name cursing all because… you didn’t do the right thing.. this country errrhhh”.
One X user added. “Look at this nonsense: if it’s expensive, go to a different hostel… why would you even say this as a human who has a head brain and is educated.. selfish and greedy hostel owners”.
“The individual making these statements should be apprehended due to the threats being made against students who have reported substandard accommodation conditions”, a netizen added.
A netizen added, “That’s the Ghanaian mentality. Once you report wrongdoings, it ends up with threats & curses. Anyway, this audio is clear evidence against her. Should anything happen to any of the students who lived there, she must answer”.
“You see the behaviour of some of these so-called Christians. If indeed she had the fear of God in her heart, would she have rented that facility to her son or daughter? Now she is playing the victim card. That’s witchcraft. It’s obvious that woman is not a good person. Moron”, an X user added.
Meanwhile, the Rent Control Commission and the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) have shut down Serwaa Heights and Adehye3 hostels in Koforidua over poor sanitation and substandard living conditions.
The Rent Control Commission follows complaints by students of Koforidua Technical University (KTU), who have called on the two institutions to close down unsanitary private hostels operating around the university.
Mr Jones Haruna Nelson, speaking to journalists, stated, “We came and realised that the place is not fit for purpose. We didn’t know there were hostels here, because they are doing illegal business. The place is unkempt, the air coming in is bad, so we have served them a notice of closure.”
Also, Acting Rent Control Commissioner Frederick Opoku assured affected students that they would receive refunds for monies paid.
He disclosed that the commission would work with the Ghana Tourism Authority to safeguard the welfare of students renting private accommodation.
