In a viral video shared on social media on Saturday, August 29, 2026, Strika was captured being confronted by a group of residents.

Strika was widely known for his role as a child soldier in Beasts of No Nation, where he starred alongside acclaimed British actor Idris Elba.

Reports suggest Strika was paid $30,000 for Beasts of No Nation, the same amount as Abraham Attah, as 1% of profits.

Mawuko Kuadzi, the casting director, confirmed this repeatedly, revealing that the money was held in a Barclays trust due to his age and situation.

Reports suggest Strika later accessed the funds, including GHC 40k in 2019. His later struggles stem from other factors, not non-payment.

The viral video has triggered a mixture of disappointment and debate online, particularly because of Strika’s outstanding rise to fame at a young age.

Some netizen reacting stated, “This is pathetic

This is as a result of leadership failure over the past 5 decades.

Why blame leadership?

It is simple. No structured and proper Roadmap to absorb the youths. This guy can be absorbed by the creative industry if it is properly structured.

He never wished for this”.

A netizen added, “U can say whatever u want to say. But if you don’t know what is really happening to this guy, don’t insult him like that. Nobody can just choose this life while a better one is there. Things like this have a spiritual side. U can believe me or not, but it’s true. Strika kos3 wae. Ny3 w’ani a”.

One X user added, “To all the people, especially GenZs, who think fighting drug addiction is an EASY thing to do, I encourage you to try giving up your phone for ONE day. For 24 hours, no phone or social media. Not even 1 week, 1 month, or 1 year. JUST ONE DAY. Then sit and write down how you feel”.

A netizen added, “It’s very unfortunate for him, but he was really a kid when he acted in Beast of No Nation. As a kid who gained fame in such a violent movie, good management or even a mentor was needed to properly manage him. Now look where he’s headed.

You guys don’t really know the negative impact of that movie on this boy”.
