Alexander Akwasi Acquah, the Member of Parliament for Akim Oda, has said the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) has failed to deliver on its campaign promises.
According to Akim Oda, the next NPP government will do much better when they resume power in 2028.
Alexander Akwasi Acquah highlighted that the NDC in opposition made several claims that the country was facing economic hardships and promised to perform better.
He, however, argued that the NDC government has failed and is only arresting, harassing, and intimidating citizens who speak out or complain.
The NPP MP assured Ghanaians that the next New Patriotic Party (NPP) government under the leadership of Dr Mahamudu Bawumia will deliver superior leadership, economic stability, and accountable governance.
Speaking on Frontline on Rainbow Radio 87.5FM, Alexander Akwasi Acquah stated, “I want to assure Ghanaians that the next NPP government will do much better when we resume power. Whenever you are voted out of power and in opposition, you use the opportunity to learn from past mistakes, correct them, and return to do much better. Going into opposition is not something we wanted, but it is an opportunity for us to learn from our mistakes”.
He added, “We had the belief that the NDC would have done better so that when we return, we will continue from where they stopped. However, they failed in delivering on what they promised the people of Ghana.
“But I want to assure them that we will return and do much better. 2028 will come soon, and so we will ask Ghanaians to be patient. The thievery, unprecedented levels of corruption, the arrest, intimidation, and harassment of critics of this government are alarming. They don’t want Ghanaians to criticise them, but Ghanaians should have patience and hope that a new NPP government will do much better.”
In other news, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, a former President of Ghana, has urged the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to win the 2028 elections.
According to Akufo-Addo, the NPP must grab the opportunity the 2028 election presents to bring the party back to power in 2028.
Speaking with Dennis Miracles Aboagye when he visited him at his office, Akufo-Addo stated, “2028, come what may, we have to win this election. The opportunity is 2028; let’s grab it and make sure we bring an NPP government back into office”.
He further highlighted that after the internal elections, there will be a need for the party to bring everyone on board to help fight for power in 2028.
In related news, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has said the party’s primary objective is to regain political power in the 2028 elections.
According to Dr Bawumia, the August 15 regional elections should not be viewed as the end of the party’s internal activities but rather as part of a broader process aimed at creating a stronger and more effective political organisation capable of winning back power in the 2028 election.
He also reminded the executives that their election should be viewed as a responsibility rather than merely a political achievement.
Dr Bawumia stated, “The goal for all of us is to win the 2028 election. This is just a stepping stone towards winning 2028. As a party, we have been engaged in an exercise of reorganisation. We have had our polling station elections, our electoral area elections, we have had our constituency elections, and we have now had our regional elections.
“We will culminate that process on October 10 with the national elections and therefore, at the end of that, the party will be in a good position to have that vehicle that drives us to victory in 2028. So there is a lot of work ahead of us.”
