Sam Pyne, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) First Vice Chairman aspirant, has said the problems Ghanaians criticised the NPP administration for, the NDC government is doing worse.
According to Sam Pyne, concerns over cronyism, alleged corruption, rising prices and other governance challenges raised against the NPP have worsened under the current Mahama administration.
Sam Pyne also compared criticisms of corruption under the previous NPP administration with the current situation.
He argued that the NDC had no basis to claim that the NPP’s record should prevent Ghanaians from considering the party again, noting that economic pressures, including rising prices of goods and services, are also affecting Ghanaians under the current government.
Speaking on Eyewitness News on Friday, September 11, 2026, Sam Pyne stated, “What Ghanaians said that the NPP did, which was wrong, we’re having it worse now”.
“They accused the NPP of cronyism and family and friends, and it was a topical issue. I remember you had a panel here, and for weeks the running story was about President Akufo-Addo having a cabinet of his own people. What do we see now?” he asked.
“Now goods and services are skyrocketing, but they use propaganda to suppress it, and the Ghanaians are feeling the heat,” he said.
Sam Pyne further acknowledged its shortcomings and asked Ghanaians for forgiveness for areas where it fell short.
“After all, forgiveness is divine. We’ve told the world that yes, there are certain things we did not do right, and therefore we plead for forgiveness,” he added.
Meanwhile, Dennis Miracles Aboagye, an aspiring NPP communications director, has boldly stated no politician can beat the party flagbearer Dr Mahamudu Bawumia in the 2028 general election.
According to Miracles Aboagye, if Ghanaian voters focus on the issues affecting their lives, no politician can beat Bawumia in the 2028 elections.
He argued that the most important question for voters in 2028 would be which candidate had credible solutions to the challenges facing the country.
Speaking in an interview with Accra-based Starr FM, Dennis Miracles Aboagye stated, “When people are going to vote, they vote for the roads they don’t have. They vote for the schools they don’t have. The teacher is going to cast his vote based on what he thinks will benefit him.
The nurse, the architect, the trotro driver, the taxi driver, all these people, they are going to get up in the morning to go and cast their vote, not because of the colours.
That is why I am of the opinion, and I’m very convinced in that opinion, that in 2028, it’s not about what you did right or what you did wrong,” Mr Aboagye said.
Miracles Aboagye added, “It’s about who are the people coming to us to ask us for our votes. Now, amongst all the people asking for our vote, who amongst them is proposing solutions that address the challenges we face as of 2028?”
He further argued that the Ghanaian electorate in the 2028 election would not necessarily vote for a candidate solely based on the performance of the political party that candidate represented.
“They are going to put Dr Mahamudu Bawumia here, and put any other person also vying for president, and see who is telling us the things that will give us relief,” he said.
“And that, for me, is why we should not allow any politician, especially those in government, to create a facade and continuously distract us from paying attention to the issues,” he said.
Miracles Aboagye boldly stated that Dr Bawumia would emerge victorious if voters concentrated on the issues rather than distractions.
“I can tell you, if the Ghanaian voter should focus on the issues and pay attention, no politician can beat Dr Mahamudu Bawumia in the 2028 elections,” he added.
