Emmanuel Nii Adom Quaye, popularly known as Strika, a Ghanaian actor who starred in the 2015 Netflix film Beasts of No Nation, has reportedly been sentenced to seven years’ imprisonment.
Reports disclosed Strika was sentenced following his appearance before an Accra court over the vandalism and theft of parts of the Kwashieman pedestrian bridge.
The development follows Strika, who was busted while attempting to steal metal railings at the Kwashieman footbridge in Accra.
According to reports, Strika was caught by some residents of Kwashieman cutting metal parts from a footbridge, reportedly intending to sell them as scrap.
In a viral video shared on social media on Saturday, August 29, 2026, Strika was captured being confronted by a group of residents.
Strika was widely known for his role as a child soldier in Beasts of No Nation, where he starred alongside acclaimed British actor Idris Elba.
Reports suggest Strika was paid $30,000 for Beasts of No Nation, the same amount as Abraham Attah, as 1% of profits.
Mawuko Kuadzi, the casting director, confirmed this repeatedly, revealing that the money was held in a Barclays trust due to his age and situation.
Reports suggest Strika later accessed the funds, including GHC 40k in 2019. His later struggles stem from other factors, not non-payment.
The development has triggered a mixture of disappointment and debate online, particularly because of Strika’s outstanding rise to fame at a young age.

One more Ghanaian added, “While I condemn stealing, for this guy, it is survival. He needs support not jail. Politicians like Gifty Oware, Agyemang Kingsley etc are roaming around with millions of tax payers money. They are meant for jail”.
One last netizen added, “While the jail term might be too much, the moment some of you start comparing him to politicians and other offenders not receiving such punishment is where you go off. You can ask for mercy for don’t justify wrong doing with this kind of mentality. It’s annoying”.
