Speaking during his ShattaFest 2026 show at the Accra Sports Stadium on Saturday, October 17, Shatta Wale questioned why young people were being arrested for fraud while public officials accused of financial wrongdoing are not facing similar consequences.

He disclosed that he had several friends involved in fraud but insisted that he would not report them to the authorities.

Shatta Wale subsequently accused ministers of stealing public funds without being arrested, comparing their perceived treatment with that of young people who are apprehended for fraud.

Shatta Wale stated, “Make I tell you, I get plenty fraud boys wey be my friends, but me, I no be snitch wey I go snitch anybody. The country no good, so if you go fraud, fraud. Ministers dey steal, they no dey catch them. Them dey steal our money, they no dey catch them, they dey catch young boys for Ghana”.

The Dancehall king criticised what he perceives as unequal enforcement of financial crime laws, questioning why young people suspected of fraud face prosecution while public officials accused of corruption appear to receive different treatment.

In related news, some months ago, Shatta Wale, during his live performance at the Gomoa Street Carnival on April 5, 2026, called for the release of entrepreneur Frederick Kumi, popularly known as Abu Trica.

According to Shatta Wale, Abu Trica must be freed, as nobody does fraud.

Shatta Wale, during his performance at the Gomoa Street Carnival, led sections of the crowd in chants demanding Abu Trica’s freedom.

Speaking to the crowd, Shatta Wale stated, “Free Abu! Free Abu! Free Abu! Nobody does fraud here. Would they say someone is a fraudster if they had given us jobs? We all want money,” he told the audience.

Meanwhile, Shatta Wale has alleged that the government owes him about GH¢5 million.

According to Shatta Wale, the GH¢5 million owed him by the government was for promotional activities and advertisements he undertook in support of the Black Stars’ participation in the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Shatta Wale revealed he was yet to receive any payment despite having completed the work.

Speaking in an interview with GHOne TV, Shatta Wale said, “ I am happy with President Mahama his idology.

When asked by Serwaa Amihere about his best performing minister or appointee, Shatta Wale stated,  “So, I don’t have any; I can give you examples”.

He further stated, “With the World Cup that we did, you know we had to promote whatever…We were supposed to be paid. Up till now, I have not been paid. For the postings and ads, a lot. I think now they owe me about GH₵5 million,” he said.

Shatta Wale further expressed frustration over his attempts to obtain payment.

According to him, when he calls ministers for his payment, they refuse to answer his calls.

“Oh, not a penny. You call the minister; he will not pick up. The deputy minister of finance will also not pick up. Disrespect, total disrespect in this country,” he fumed.
