President John Dramani Mahama has said he does not know and has never spoken to controversial media personality Kevin Taylor.
According to Mahama, Kevin Taylor once appeared on his show displaying an NPP party card but has since turned against the party.
President Mahama made this known while discussing some controversial media personalities, including Captain Smart, Kelvin Taylor, Avraham Ben Moshe and others, noted for their harsh words at a breakfast meeting.
Speaking in a video, President Mahama, stated, “Captain Smart has insulted me so many times, but because today things are not going well, he has given me my stone. He is not a member of the NDC.
Because things are not going well, it has also affected him. He is somebody I can call because he is a journalist to tone down the insults.
He further added, “Kevin Taylor was an NPP member; he even showed his party card on his programme, but he is now firing the NPP, and he has added some pastors. I do not know him, and I have not spoken to him before.
Avraham Ben Moshe: I don’t know him; he is not a member of the NDC; he has his own mind”.
In recent times, Samson Lardy, a renowned legal practitioner and journalist, has clashed with the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Member of Parliament for Akwatia, Bernard Bediako Baidoo, over controversial media personality Kevin Taylor.
The clash follows Bernard Bediako, during a panel discussion on the programme, trying to discriminate between the commentary made by media personality Kevin Taylor and Ghana Jollof.
The Akwatia MP claimed that Kevin Taylor only insults personalities, but Samson Lardy rebutted his defence, arguing that the US-based media personality is worse.
According to Samson Lardy, Ghanaians are not daft when they alleged that the NDC sponsors Kevin Taylor.
He further cited when Kevin Taylor came into Ghana and was never arrested after insulting numerous personalities but was given VIP treatment.
Samson Lardy stated, “Kevin Taylor does more than insult. You see, you people, let’s call a spade a spade. When he calls the IGP and the CID boss, when he calls them criminals and calls them people who are corrupt? Is that an insult?
“When he came into this country, did they not know where to find him? Did they arrest him? That’s what the people are asking you. Did they arrest him?… He was policed, walked into the Supreme Court, and walked out free, and he’s jubilating around the place,” he fumed.
He added, “People are not daft too. People are saying that was so arranged. Otherwise, it would not even be in the country. All right. People are making connections.”
Bernard Bediako, however, argued that even though he disagrees with the commentary of Kevin Taylor, it is wrong for people to use him as justification not to punish others.
According to him, the fact that Kevin Taylor was not arrested for the wrongs people are saying he has done does not mean that nobody should be arrested if they act the same way or worse.
“So if 1000 people are arrested in connection with 20(sic), you keep mentioning Kelvin. Kelvin. Kelvin,” Bernard Bediako argued.
Samson Lardy reacted, saying, “He’s doing worse, and you people are watching, and people know that you sponsor… now the police have found sponsors of Ghana Jollof. When the person is sponsored by the people, nobody cares”.
