A total of 33 Ghanaians have been rescued from a camp in Nigeria after reportedly falling victim to a fraudulent travel scheme involving fake United Kingdom visas.
The victim include 12 women, have been rounded up at a reported camp in Anyigba in the Dekina Local Government Area of Kogi State, Nigeria, following concerns that they may have been lured into a scheme promising travel to the United Kingdom.
According to reports, the group was intercepted during a raid by a special team from Ghana after relatives raised concerns over repeated demands for additional money from some of those who had travelled to Nigeria.
Reports suggest some Ghanaians sold businesses and parted with significant sums of money after being led to believe that their stay in Nigeria was part of a process to secure travel to Europe.
The information gathered disclosed that some members of the group reportedly alleged to have paid as much as GH¢300,000 in the hope of travelling to the United Kingdom.
It has been reported that the Ghanaians have denied that they were being prepared for illegal migration, insisting that they were in Nigeria to participate in network marketing.
According to reports, the group was found at one of six reported camps in the Anyigba area, where they had reportedly been staying.

According to the man, after being promised an opportunity to travel to the UK, he was dumped in Nigeria by IGNITE, a network marketing company.
He disclosed that he had to shut down his drugstore business and hand it over to a friend in preparation for the journey, disclosing that he was told during his travels that he would transit through Nigeria.
Richmond Tucson narrated that after arriving in Nigeria, he has been unable to continue his journey to the UK.
Speaking in a viral video shared by EDHUB, the Ghanaian man stated, “I was a former registered nurse, but I stopped and started my own drug business in Accra, Lapaz. But I closed it and gave it to a friend when an opportunity came to travel to the UK.
“They asked me to transit, and I found myself here. But they told me the business is IGNITE, and they told me they sell products, so I am learning. I have practised as a nurse for over seven years,” he said.
Meanwhile, the General Overseer of Action Chapel International Ministry, Archbishop Nicholas Duncan-Williams, has said he dreams of an Africa where no son and daughter of the continent will queue for visas for greener pastures abroad.
According to Duncan-Williams, he is optimistic that Africa will develop to a point where citizens can achieve their dreams and aspirations without travelling abroad.
The man of God called for a sustained commitment to Africa’s growth and transformation.
Speaking at the 4th Inter-Parliamentary Conference on Family, Sovereignty and Values on June 3, 2026, Archbishop Nicholas Duncan-Williams stated, “I have a dream that in my lifetime, Africa will be so developed by principles that work for us, not by principles that work for others, but by principles that work for us as we look at our culture and as individual sovereign countries”.
That no son and no daughter of the continent of Africa will queue for visas to go to other nations for greener pastures.
But our sons and our daughters will work and labour in our own land and our countries and achieve their dreams and goals, fulfil their desires and destiny, succeed and prosper within their own countries and their own borders and not go to any other country to seek greener pastures.
I have a dream that our young men and women will not be scattered around the nation world, but Africa will rise to the occasion to fulfil its God-given destiny and mandate. This is a dream I look forward to seeing, praying for”.
