Bernard Bediako Baidoo, the Member of Parliament (MP) for Akwatia, has dropped more details about EOCO’s evidence against the Manhyia South MP, Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah.
According to the Akwatia MP, the recent attempts by EOCO to arrest Baffour Awuah have nothing to do with his representation of Salomey Awiti Baffoe in the Ghana Jollof case.
The Akwatia MP detailed that evidence gathered by EOCO against the Manhyia South MP includes a claim that without the knowledge of the board of SIC Life, he renegotiated a judgment the state-owned enterprise had won as a micro-credit firm, Equity Micro-Finance.
Bernard Baidoo alleged that the Manhyia South legislator, on behalf of his law firm, represented SIC Life in its case against Equity after the private company could not pay back a loan of GH¢6 million.
Speaking in an interview on Accra FM after the suit, on Monday, September 28, 2026, the Akwatia MP detailed, “When he was going to court, SIC gave him GH¢280,000. The court awarded a judgment in favour of SIC for the sale of the microfinance company’s property, which was worth GH¢25 million. The auctioneer the court appointed to sell the property had even gotten a buyer, and the deal was almost done.
“All of a sudden, another company called Eco Swiss came into the frame claiming that Equity Micro Finance had sold the said property (a land) to them long ago… The matter went to court, and before the court could even determine the true owner of the land, Baffour Awuah went to settle the matter of the state entity. As we speak, this is no board decision which permitted him to do that,” the Akwatia legislator said.
He further alleged that evidence from EOCO also showed that Baffour Awuah was paid by all three companies involved in the matter – SIC Life, Eco Swiss and Equity – although he was supposed to be a lawyer for the state-owned company.
“He settled with Eco Swiss for them to pay GH¢5 million for that loan facility whose principal was even GH¢6 million for the matter to die. These are things Baffour Awuah signed as a solicitor. But as a solicitor, he has to prove here he got the authority to renegotiate a judgment of GH¢14 million.
“After this, Eco Swiss gave Baffour Awuah GH¢2.2 million. What was this for? You were not their lawyer… All of these are from EOCO documents. As if this was not enough, the people from Equity also gave him over GH¢600,000,” he said.
Meanwhile, Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah has already sued the Member of Parliament for Akwatia, Bernard Bediako Baidoo, and broadcaster Abubakar Alhassan, popularly known as Blakk Rasta.
According to Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah, his suit is against the two individuals for allegedly “spewing falsehoods” about his person.
In a statement dated Monday, September 28, Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah disclosed that he has filed a Writ of Summons against Bernard Bediako Baidoo and Blakk Rasta, over what he describes as false statements made against him.
He disclosed that he deliberately chose to pursue the matter through the civil courts, rather than seeking criminal prosecution over the alleged publication of false information.
Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah, in his statement, stated, “I have today, 28th September 2026, filed a Writ of Summons against the underlisted persons for spewing falsehoods against my person”.
“Unlike the government, I have chosen the path of democrats, by seeking relief through civil court rather than pursuing criminal prosecution for the publication of false news,” he said.
“The above having been said, I wish to state that the attempt by the government to intimidate and silence me in my quest to fight for the poor mother of three (3) minor children who was kidnapped by state security agents… and remains in police custody has failed.”
“I remain committed to fighting for Madam Salomey Awiti Bafoh’s liberty as well as Camilla Alhassan to ensure that they are reunited with their family who await their return.”
