Nana Frimpong Ziega, a social commentator, has provided further details about events that allegedly occurred during an attempt to alter the results of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) national executive election’s vice-chairmanship race.
Ziega, who described himself as the uncle of Kojo Fosu Boadu, popularly known as Kojo Bamba, disclosed that his nephew resisted an alleged plot to change the results to place him third in the contest.
According to Ziega, Kojo Bamba emerged ahead of Nana Akomea and Nana B in the race but was approached after the election and asked to accept a third-place position.
Nana Frimpong Ziega stated, “He did something at the Kumasi Sports Stadium which justifies that he is ready; he is not going to be compromised. Do you know that after the election they wanted to overturn the results? They wanted to overturn it so he (Kojo Bamba) comes third because of the two people who he was ahead of, Nana Akomea and Nana B”.
Ziega alleged that the move was influenced by the political relationships between the candidates, claiming that Kojo Bamba had previously served Nana B, while Nana Akomea had been involved in politics before Bamba.
“They couldn’t afford to allow Kojo Bamba to be ahead, so they called him and said, ‘Kojo, this is the situation, help us. Let us put you in third position,’” he narrated.
Ziega further alleged that Kojo Bamba warned those involved against attempting to alter the results, claiming he had 150 “macho men” at the Kumasi Sports Stadium.
Ziega stated, “He told them that, ‘I have 150 macho men at the stadium who are watching what is happening. They know that I’m first. If you make the mistake of changing the results, we would turn the whole stadium upside down.’ And people vanished”.
He further claimed that NPP flagbearer Dr Mahamudu Bawumia did not know about the alleged attempt to alter the results.
Meanwhile, Kojo Bamba, has clarified that there are no issues with Nana B or any of the newly elected national executives, adding that they are all committed to working together for the good of the party.
He also clarified rumours suggesting there were attempts to exchange his position with Nana B after he won the election are untrue.
Speaking in a video shared on social media on October 7, 2026, Kojo Bamba stated, “Some of you are also saying that I have an issue with Nana B. I want you people to know that I don’t have any issue with Nana B. In fact, I have worked with him for about 10 years now, and we haven’t once argued.
“Before the delegate conference, we went our separate ways because we were all focused on campaigning, but after the conference, I called him and Nana Akomea… So there is no problem between us,” he added.
He further explained why he was absent when the party’s newly elected national leadership held its first meeting.
According to Kojo Bamba, he was informed about the meeting with Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.
He, however, added that due to his other engagement, he sought permission from the party’s leadership to be excused.
Kojo Bamba stated, “I had other engagements; that was why I couldn’t attend the meeting. I was aware of the meeting because I was informed”.
“I asked for permission from the leadership, and I was permitted. So there is no bad blood between the leadership and me,” he said.
