Koku Anyidoho and Asiedu Nketia

Koku Anyidoho, a former Deputy General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has told Johnson Asiedu Nketia he forgives him for deliberately seeking to destroy his political career.

The former Deputy General Secretary wished his former boss, Johnson Kwadwo Asiedu-Nketiah, the best of luck as he exits the NDC Headquarters after 21 years of service.

Koku Anyidoho made this known in reaction to Johnson Asiedu Nketiah’s decision not to seek re-election as party National Chairman.

According to Koku Anyidoho, Asiedu Nketia’s 21-year era at the NDC headquarters is coming to an end.

Koku Anyidoho, in a post on X, reminisced about how Asiedu Nketia was elected in 2005 to replace the then-embattled General Secretary, Dr Nii Armah Josiah Aryeh.

He disclosed that Asiedu Nketiah has been the longest-serving General Secretary of the party and the first person to move from GS to National Chairman.

Mr Anyidoho argued that there is more that unites them than divides them, adding that he has chosen to look at the positive sides of life rather than dwell on the negatives.

He stated, “I believe that there is more that unites us than divides us.  Besides, I have chosen to look at the positive sides of life rather than dwell on the negatives, and that’s why the enemies don’t see me walking around dejected, and it hurts them more.

I honestly had no issues whatsoever working with him as his Deputy, so when he got bitter that I contested him and took a unilateral decision to say he had suspended me based on his whims and caprices, I was taken aback.

As it is, that supposed suspension holds no water as I remain a member of the NDC who CANNOT be suspended nor sacked by any flimsy line of thought.”

I thank God He did not create me with a petty mind nor petty heart, so I say to Johnson Kwadwo Asiedu-Nketiah, Ayekoo.

“Onipa be ye bi ..”,  I forgive you for what you sought to do to just destroy my political career by deliberately provoking me to get angry and say things that would have been haunting me today. Ultimately, you wanted me to get angry and say I have resigned from the NDC, but because I was your Deputy and know your modus operandi, I did not fall for your bait, and I have said consistently that I remain a bona fide member of the NDC.

I have moved on in life and wish you well as you also move on in life”.

“A 21-year era is coming to an end at the NDC HQ.

In 2005, @ Koforidua, we elected him as General Secretary to replace the then embattled General Secretary, Dr Nii Armah Josiah Aryeh (may his soul RIP).

He has been the longest-serving General Secretary and the first person to move from GS to National Chairman.

Of course, I served as his Deputy and the first & only Deputy to have contested him as a boss.

He knows, and most people know, I contested because he had assured me that he would not contest again.  As it is, the rest is history.

He is leaving the NDC HQ and shall never again be in charge the way he has been, and that will certainly be a new terrain for him.

From the Paloma HQ to the Adabraka HQ, he created a colossus out of himself.

Of course he has intentions of moving up to become Flagbearer – we will see how that pans out for him.

I recently (about 2 months ago), met him by chance at the Kumasi airport and he shouted “The Bull” 🐂.  I responded “General”;  we shook hands and cracked a few jokes.   We sat on the same plane; arrived in Accra; had a little chat and parted ways.

I believe that there is more that unites us than divides us.

As it is, that supposed suspension holds no water as I remain a member of the NDC who CANNOT be suspended nor sacked by any flimsy line of thought.

Let’s see how he climbs up the political ladder with some of the people he conspired with against me, now his ardent enemies.

We live by God’s grace to watch how the future unfolds.

He has certainly written some history politically within the NDC and Ghana.

I thank God He did not create me with a petty mind nor a petty heart, so I say to Johnson Kwadwo Asiedu-Nketiah, Ayekoo.

“Onipa be ye bi ..”,  I forgive you for what you sought to do to just destroy my political career by deliberately provoking me to get angry and say things that would have been haunting me today. Shalom”.

His comment follows, Mahdi Gibril, the NDC Director of Elections and IT, who disclosed that the party’s National Chairman, Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, popularly known as “General Mosquito”, is not seeking re-election.

According to Mahdi Gibril, Asiedu Nketiah had not picked forms by the close of nominations and had not indicated an intention to contest.

Following Asiedu Nketia’s skipping the NDC chairmanship contest, speculations about his presidential ambition have reemerged.

Although Asiedu Nketia has not formally declared his presidential bid, the speculation comes amid rumours he intends to contest the NDC’s presidential primary ahead of the 2028 general elections.

The NDC National Chairman on numerous occasions refused to rule out contesting for the flagbearership position of his party.

According to Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, he would make his intentions known when the time was right, adding that his political options remain wide open.

He argued that ambition was an essential part of politics, adding that politicians without ambition are in the wrong profession.
