Kwadwo Baah Agyemang, the former Member of Parliament for Asante Akyem North, has criticised the Mahama government over its silence on the current Asante Akyem North MP, Hon. Ohene Kwame Frimpong.

According to the former MP, the NDC government’s handling of the situation has been unfair to the detained MP.

He argued that the Mahama government is pretending it can’t do anything about his case, adding that he knows what the government can and cannot do.

Speaking in an interview on Salt FM on November 2, 2026, he stated, “There is something worrying. This NDC government has really been unfair to Hon. Ohene Kwame Frimpong for leaving him to rot in the custody of another country. Why is the government pretending they can’t do anything about his case?”

“The truth is, why is the government so silent about it, “he added.

Netizens reacting to his comment argued, “Is he expecting the government to go there Rambo style to extricate the MP from custody? People like to talk and be heard, but they hardly make any sense with what comes out of their mouth”.

Another X user added, “They bring back all the guys the FBI picked then, such nonsense .. One does his personal dealings, and you expect government to come waste time on this..”.

“You guys are very stupid and useless, kwasiaaa. That station you are sitting and speaking nonsense was closed under the previous government. You are so stupid; did the NDC government ask him to get himself into fraud? You think fraud cases involving the US are like makola law”, an X user added.

Meanwhile, Ohene Kwame Frimpong’s bail application has been thrown out by a Dutch court.

The information was made known by the Majority Chief Whip and Member of Parliament (MP) for South Dayi, Rockson-Nelson Dafeamekpor.

The Majority Chief Whip and Member of Parliament (MP) for South Dayi, providing the latest update on the case, disclosed that the court first dismissed the substantive bail application of the embattled MP.

He further added that an appeal filed by the Asante Akyem North legislator was also rejected by a Dutch court.

Dafeamekpor stated, “He is still in custody. He’s still in the hands of the Dutch government in Amsterdam. We have done two applications, one substantive, one appeal for his bail, but they all got refused”.

He further disclosed that the Parliament of Ghana was preparing for the substantive hearing, where the court would determine whether the Asante Akyem North legislator should be extradited to the US to answer to the crimes he is accused of.

According to Dafeamekpor, the extradition hearing is scheduled to start on November 18, 2026.

It will be recalled that Rockson-Nelson Dafeamekpor had earlier disclosed that the member of parliament for Asante Akyem North, Ohene Kwame Frimpong, is under investigation over alleged fraud and money laundering offences.

He further questioned the prolonged detention of Ohene Kwame Frimpong following his arrest.

According to the Majority Chief Whip, they will wait for the Asante Akyem North bail outcome before deciding on their next course of action.

Speaking on JoyNews on May 26, 2026, the South Dayi MP stated, “Now, what I know is that they are saying he’s under investigation. If I remember from what the lawyer told me, for fraud and money laundering, he is under investigation”.

“Do you detain somebody for this long for being under investigation? That is why we are saying that we should allow the bail application to be gone into and then we’ll see how it goes,” he added.

Reports suggest that the Asante Akyem North MP was dramatically arrested by Dutch security officials at Schiphol Airport in Amsterdam shortly after a KLM flight from Accra landed in the Netherlands.

According to CitiNewsroom, “the lawmaker departed Kotoka International Airport in Accra on Saturday, May 9, aboard KLM Flight 590. The flight reportedly left Ghana through Gate C7 at about 10:10 p.m. and arrived at Schiphol Airport in Amsterdam at approximately 4:36 GMT on Sunday”.

The information gathered from sources detailed that the incident happened moments after the aircraft touched down at Gate F3 when passengers were prepared to disembark, the pilot announced that all passengers should remain seated for what was described as a security check.

Sources revealed that a team of Dutch security officials subsequently boarded the aircraft and proceeded directly to the Business Class section where the Asante Akyem North MP was seated with another senior government official travelling on the same flight.

The Dutch security officials reportedly identified the MP, read him his rights, and placed him in handcuffs before escorting him off the aircraft into a waiting security van.
