Joana Quaye, the estranged wife of Ghanaian businessman Richard Nii Armah Quaye (RNAQ), has accused him of physically abusing her during their marriage.
RNAQ’s ex-wife alleged that the businessman repeatedly beat her with the metal hook of his belt.
In a soon-to-be-aired interview, Joana Quaye opened up about some of the experiences she claims to have endured during their relationship, making fresh revelations about the breakdown of their marriage.
“My ex-husband used to beat me with his belt hook,” she alleged.
Beyond the abuse allegations, Joan Quaye also made claims about her financial contribution to the establishment of Quick Credit, the financial services business associated with the businessman.
She maintained that she provided the bulk of the initial capital used to set up the company, claiming that her contribution accounted for 90 per cent of its seed capital.
“90% of the seed capital for Quick Credit was my money,” she stated.
Joana Quaye revelations are expected to generate further public interest in the marital dispute, particularly the allegations surrounding the couple’s relationship and the origins of Quick Credit.
Meanwhile, Lawyers for businessman Richard Nii Armah Quaye, commonly known as RNAQ, have replied to claims made by the ex-wife’s lawyers.
The divorce case has now turned into a full legal battle, as counsel trades statements.
Richard Nii Armah Quaye, on the Delay show, made a series of claims regarding his divorce from his former wife, Joana Quaye, with the ex-wife’s lawyers releasing a statement debunking the allegations.
In a sharp rebuttal, Sory & Partners, the legal team representing Richard Nii Armah Quaye, has also issued a press release on April 28, 2026.
Sory & Partners raised several concerns and refuted some of the claims made by Joana Coffie, including allegations of assault.
Part of the statement noted, “Regarding your blanket accusation of abuse of your client by our client, we reiterate that our client has consistently maintained that he has never abused your client, and this has been affirmed by the High Court when a submission of no case was upheld in its decision dated November 27, 2025”.
Sory & Partners statement comes on the heels of Lawyers for Joana Quaye who have refuted allegations made by her ex-husband, businessman Richard Nii Armah Quaye (RNAQ), during an interview with Delay, labelling the claims as “substantially untrue”.
According to Joana Quaye’s Lawyers, Richard Nii Armah Quaye’s self-serving ex post facto interview with ‘Delay’ cannot change the fact, arguing that the interview was a publicity stunt.
Lawyers for Joana Quaye detailed that the allegations made by RNAQ unfairly castigated the reputation and integrity of their client, Joana Quaye.
The lawyers detailed that the marriage between the parties in 2010 soon after Richard Quaye’s return from a short stay in the United Kingdom in 2009 (at a time that he was unemployed and had none of the properties he owns now) is a matter of public record – record of proceedings of the High Court, Accra dated 13th March, 2024 – and cannot be changed by a self-serving ex post facto interview with “Delay”.
They further urged the public to disregard the wild and unfounded claims of “richness before marriage” made by Richard Nii Armah Quaye, adding that their client will surely get justice for the wrongs and abuses she has suffered one fine day.
