Dormaahene, Osagyefo Oseadeeyo Agyemang Badu II, has said he will gift the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, two cows if he can resolve the Bawku Conflict.
The Dormahene is quoted by EDHUB to have said, “I will gift Otumfuo two cows if he can resolve the long-standing Bawku conflict”.
The Bawku conflict escalated following the return of rival Chief Alhaji Seidu Abagre from exile.
Alhaji Seidu Abagre fled Bawku after an arrest warrant was issued against him; however, the High Court in Kumasi on October 17, 2024, nullified the warrant, allowing him to resurface.
In the past months, fresh violence has exploded in Bawku after a student of Bawku Senior High School was apparently pulled from his dormitory and shot dead by unknown attackers.
The residence of the Member of Parliament for Bawku and Majority Leader, Mahama Ayariga, was also reportedly set on fire.
Also, there is the recent killing of a Kusasi chief in Kumasi, which has sparked a series of reprisal attacks.
Reports suggest two more individuals were reportedly killed in Kumasi in connection with the chieftaincy tensions.
Despite increased efforts by security forces to suppress the unrest and safeguard commuters, armed assailants continue to unleash deadly attacks.
Meanwhile, the Manhyia Palace, in a statement signed by the Chief of Staff, Kofi Badu, on Monday, November 10, 2025, has announced the concluding session of the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, mediation into the Bawku chieftaincy conflict.
According to the Manhyia Palace statement, the Otumfuo Osei Tutu II has scheduled November 30 and December 1, 2025, for the final mediation sessions.
The statement shared on X read, “Manhyia Palace is pleased to announce that His Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Asantehene, has scheduled two days, November 30 and December 1, 2025, for what is expected to be the concluding session of his mediation in the Bawku chieftaincy conflict”.
“His Majesty praises both sides for their positive approach to the mediation so far and appeals to all concerned to avoid any actions likely to affect the progress towards a lasting solution to the Bawku conflict”, it added.
Also, the Minister of Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, Ahmed Ibrahim, has revealed that plans are in motion to help resolve the ongoing feud between Dormaahene, Osagyefo Oseadeeyo Agyemang Badu II and the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.
Ahmed Ibrahim revealed he has engaged some stakeholders to help mediate the feud that appears to be escalating.
