Three individuals are said to be battling for their lives following a brutal crash between a group of men and some illegal miners (galamseyers) at Aboboye.
Reports suggest the incident occurred at Aboboye, a galamsey community in the Twifo Atti-Morkwa District of the Central Region.
According to the information gathered, the men, numbering six, stormed Tarkwa on Saturday, November 15, claiming to be acting on the orders of the Twifo Praso District NADMO Director to extort money from illegal miners.
The six men demanded 20,000 cedis from the illegal miners, but the galamseyers, citing poor business, offered to pay only 2000 cedis, which led to the disagreement.
The confrontation escalated after the men started setting pumping machines and other mining equipment on the site ablaze.
Three of the six men were severely injured and rushed to the nearby hospital for treatment, and were later arrested by police while the other three bolted.
Isaac Yawson, the Twifo Atimorkwa DCE, in his reaction, accused the NADMO Director and his associates of unauthorised and galamsey operations across the district.
He further confirmed that the six men linked to the District NADMO Director tried to extort money from the illegal miners, leading to the violent clash.
