A Senior High School graduate has thrown a wild question in response to her mother’s request for her to pursue higher education.

According to the SHS graduate, the mother wants her to go and check her WASSCE results following WAEC’s release of the 2025 provisional results.

The SHS graduate in the viral video boldly declared she has no intention of pursuing higher education as she prefers going to China to import goods into the country.

Speaking in a self-recorded video, the SHS graduate stated, “My mother, the results are in, she says I should go and check and buy University forms, give me money to travel to China for importation, you’re saying university, University for what?”

Her video has since ignited debate on social media, with some netizens saying, “She has a point. Everyone should pursue what they think is best, cos school nowadays no longer guarantees job security.

But it’s always nice to at least have some formal education first, though”.

A netizen added, “The plane flying to China is operated and maintained by engineers who, as you’d expect, went to university. This isn’t to diminish the work of traders, but if your passion doesn’t require a university degree, don’t look down on those whose professions do”.

One more netizen quizzed her, “You go the china there Wey them use Google translate to describe the items and features, ugo know say school dey need”.

Additionally, a Ghanaian added, “Who in their right senses would give money to this one to go to China? Nobody should come and tell me ‘don’t judge a book by its cover’, shit here”.

“University is very important, and Business is equally important. But the most important here is Basic education. As she has secured that, she can either grow a business and get a degree later or have her degree first and grow a business after. It works both ways, love”, one more netizen stated.

One more netizen added, “She is not wrong with what she is saying. Ghanaian parent still believe formal education is the only gateway for their kids to become successful in life. Things are changing, and it’s high time the country starts focusing on other areas that Ghanaians are naturally do at & institutionalise it”.
