Ghanaians on social media platform X have expressed outrage at Her Honour Angela Attachie, Judge of the Adenta Circuit Court 1, following her decision to remand nurse and mother of three, Salomey Bafoh Awiti.
The backlash comes just weeks after public criticism directed at the Chief Justice, with social media users once again raising concerns over judicial decisions and the treatment of accused persons.
The development follows reports suggesting Salomey, a nurse based in Techiman in the Bono East Region, was arrested during a midnight operation at her residence in Hansua.
The incident reportedly occurred between 11 p.m. and midnight on Sunday, September 13, 2026.
According to Salomey’s brother, who was present, three individuals, comprising two men and a woman, arrived at the residence at about 11:30 p.m. dressed in black uniforms, believed to be from National Security.
The family described the allegation as a case of mistaken identity and insists that Salomey has no association with the anonymous account.
She has since been remanded for two weeks by the Adenta Circuit Court 1 over allegations that she is linked to a TikTok account identified as Ghana Jollof, which has been critical of government officials.
The Adenta Circuit Court 1 decision follows the nurse’s arrest in connection with investigations into individuals allegedly linked to the social media account.
Speaking to the media, her lawyer and MP for Manhyia South, Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah, questioned the basis for her continued detention.
He argued that authorities had told the court that the person behind the Ghana Jollof account is currently in the United Kingdom.
“Because you want to arrest Ghana Jollof, you have remanded her for two weeks. Meanwhile, you told the court that Ghana Jollof is in the UK,” he said.
Ghanaians on X reacting to the development shared pictures of the judge and also called her out, saying, “This judge at the Adenta Circuit Court, Angela Attachie, also the sub queen of Asogli state is doing very well in “helping the oldboy to succeed….” by allowing her court to serve as a conduit for jailing/remanding members of the opposition party for exercising their right to free speech, she has now kept an innocent mother of three behind bars for two weeks, despite the fact that she has committed no crime.
I’m told her husband has also been appointed by John Mahama as the Director General of the Cyber Security Unit.
We wish them well.

Meanwhile, Private legal practitioner Martin Kpebu has questioned the Ghana Police Service’s justification for keeping senior nursing officer Salomey Awity Baffoe in custody.
Lawyer Kpebu argued that investigators can examine her phone without detaining her for two weeks.
According to Lawyer Kpebu, based on his experience as a lawyer, there was not sufficient justification for the Adenta Circuit Court 1’s decision to remand the nurse as investigations continue into her alleged links to the Ghana Jollof TikTok account.
Speaking on Eyewitness News on Thursday, September 17, Lawyer Kpebu stated, “Based on my experience as a lawyer, from what I read, I don’t think this woman should be in custody. I don’t think so”.
Lawyer Kpebu argued that if investigators believe material linked to the Ghana Jollof account was shared through Baffoe’s phone, they could examine the device without keeping her in custody.
“The phone is seized. Then police will come back for an order to go and search the phone, etc. But not the person in custody,” he said.
“Her phones are what you need. You don’t need a person in custody,” he said.
