Charles Asiedu, the Member of Parliament for Tano South and son of National Democratic Congress (NDC) National Chairman Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, has debunked claims that his father is stingy.
According to Charles Asiedu, his family’s approach to politics is rooted in accountability rather than using public office to accumulate money for distribution.
The Tano South MP disclosed that he only began to fully understand why some people describe his family as “stingy” after becoming a Member of Parliament.
Speaking in an interview on Neat FM, Charles Asiedu stated, “I have heard people say that my family is stingy. When I became a Member of Parliament, that was when I began to understand things properly. What I have noticed is that, in the way we go about our jobs, we simply do not know how to steal from the nation.
We do not know how to use the positions entrusted to us by the citizens of this country to steal from the state and accumulate enough money to share with people,” he said.
“I have accounted for every penny in my statutory fund. If I have accounted for how I spend the money and my salary is finished, where would I get money to share with the public?” he asked.
“I just do my job. I do not think too much about the next election. I have four years to work. I do what I can and account for it properly. Every penny is accounted for and we know where it was spent,” he stated.
“So, if someone says I am stingy, or that Asiedu Nketiah is stingy, I am sure those people have monitored his political activities and seen how he conducts his politics. You do not expect us to steal money, keep it somewhere and then share it with people. It is not that he is stingy. He simply does not want to steal from the nation,” he added.
In related news, the Tano South MP has explained why his father has consistently emerged victorious in elections he contests.
According to Charles Asiedu, his father does not enter electoral contests without first doing an assessment.
He disclosed that Asiedu Nketia carefully assesses the position he intends to contest, his track record in his current position and the strengths he possesses that could enable him to perform.
The Tano South MP added that once his father completes his assessment and becomes convinced that he is ready to contest, he approaches the election with confidence, notwithstanding the strength or identity of his opponent.
Charles Asiedu disclosed that his father’s careful approach to elections is one of the major reasons he has been able to maintain his winning record in the various elections he enters.
Speaking on Neat FM on August 20, 2026, the Tano South MP, stated, “The reason Asiedu Nketiah contests elections and does not lose is that he carefully assesses where he is going, the work he has done and his strengths in the position he seeks to contest. Once he has made all these assessments and decides to contest, no matter who his opponent is, he will emerge victorious”.
“I think my father could make a good President of Ghana because, if you look at the work he has done to support the NDC and the country in general, and if the time is right, God wills it, the people of Ghana support him, and he himself believes the time is right, he would be a perfect President for Ghana,” he noted.
