“I gave GHS2m each to 26,000 NPP polling station executives” – Bryan Acheampong

0

Dr Bryan Acheampong, a New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer aspirant, has revealed he personally financed the NPP’s campaign in the Eastern Region during the 2024 election season.

According to Bryan Acheampong, he funded the party’s campaign activities by giving each NPP polling station executive in November, numbering about 26,000, GHS 2 million each.

Dr Bryan Acheampong further revealed that he also financed 33 parliamentary candidates in the Eastern region with GH¢100,000 every month from May to October.

In a viral video sighted Dr Bryan Acheampong stated, “In 2020, we were in government, so nobody needed my money. But in 2024, the regional chairman and the regional secretary are here, in the Eastern Region, except for about six MPs who were financially independent. I gave each of the remaining parliamentary candidates GH¢100,000”.

“It was from May to October — May, June, July, August, September, October. In November, my regional chairman and regional secretary can bear witness, we have 26,000 polling station executives in the Eastern Region, and I gave each of them GH¢2,000,000 in November to work with at their polling stations,” he added.

Also, Dr Bryan Acheampong has already officially announced his intention to contest the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) flagbearer position.

According to Bryan Acheampong, he will contest when the NPP officially opens nominations.

Bryan Acheampong made the announcement after the leadership of the Presbyterian Church offered prayers for him.

In the viral video, Bryan Acheampong was on his knees surrounded by some clergy members as they offered prayers for him.

Shortly after the prayers, he officially declared his intention.

He revealed that his decision is influenced by an exploratory team he set up, which spent a month assessing the sentiments of NPP delegates.

Speaking to the media, on Tuesday, June 24, Dr. Acheampong stated, “…A decision has been made that I will contest when the party opens nominations, but to do that, as a product of the church, it will be a disappointment per my tradition, if the moderator of the church hears it for the first time on the radio.

“So, before the formal announcement is made, I thought it wise to inform the general council and the moderator of the presby church. Most importantly, I am here to also seek the blessings of God.”

In addition to Bryan Acheampong, some months ago detailed that his years of dedication and experience to the party have prepared him to lead the party into a new era.

Dr Acheampong recounted his journey within the NPP, from grassroots mobilisation to serving as a Member of Parliament and Cabinet Minister.

Speaking at the NPP’s Constituency Chairmen Caucus Conference on Saturday, June 21 stated, “I’m not here to test the waters. I’m here for power”.

His declaration drew loud applause from the auditorium.

“I have walked the path, I have served, and I have built. I am ready to take this party to victory in 2028,” he added.

Meanwhile, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) is gearing up for its presidential primaries on January 31, 2026.

The former Minister for Agriculture, Bryan Acheampong, will have to tussle with Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, Kennedy Agyapong, former Minister for Education Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum, and Kwabena Agyei Agyepong to stand a chance of contesting in the 2028 elections on the ticket of the NPP.

The primary will mark a pivotal moment for the NPP as it seeks to elect a flagbearer capable of steering the party into the 2028 general elections, building upon its legacy.

“I never thought I would witness that level of inefficiency” – Hamza Suhuyini fires GAF

0

Hamza Suhuyini Sayibu, a member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Communications Team, has criticised the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) over its response to the tragic military helicopter crash.

According to Hamza Suhuyini Sayibu, he never thought he would witness that level of inefficiency from the Ghana Armed Forces.

Speaking on TV3 New Day on Tuesday, August 12, 2025, Hamza Suhuyini stated, “I am in pain. I have struggled because of this, and the pain is yet to leave my chest. I was thinking that the grief that has engulfed our state institutions, excluded the military due to their conduct”.

“For hours, after the Ghana military issued a statement about the missing helicopter and the news about the discovery, it had to take civilians to be seen actively on the site of the crash, trying to salvage the situation,” he added.

“They could not dignify their gallant service by even taking charge of the remains of our fallen heroes and conducting it as a military duty. What I witnessed, I never thought in my lifetime I would have witnessed that level of inefficiency,” he stated.

Hamza Suhuyini Sayibu further questioned, “There is a military base in Kumasi. Where was our military? The defence minister of Ghana?”

“It is not just about the death of these people. It also sends a signal internationally about the reputation of the Ghana Army. This conduct has exposed the country badly,” he said.

Also, Bright Simons the IMANI Africa’s Honorary Vice President, has questioned whether the Ghana Armed Forces are trained to operate in the forest following the August 6 tragic military helicopter crash.

According to Brigt Simons, how do Ghanaians expect the military to respond if they are not trained to operate in difficult forest terrain?

He noted that there are global standards that exist for such operations, and Ghana must follow them.

Brigt Simons boldly emphasised that the Authorities, citing the challenging forest terrain as their delay in responding following the tragic incident, is not acceptable.

Speaking on JoyNews’ PM Express on Monday, August 12, Bright Simons detailed, “You have to start by saying, what are the rules that are established globally in this country? And I’m saying that for a search and rescue operation, there are response times. There are designated first responders.

“There are rules around trying to make sure you have site containment. There are rules around trying to preserve evidence, preventing unauthorised access. These are all rules that we all saw on TV that were not met.”

He added, using situations in Nigeria, Cote d’Ivoire, and Benin as examples, “Now, the argument is that the terrain was difficult. My response to that is that, of course, the terrain was difficult. Some of the training that the Armed Forces received, or members of the Armed Forces received, is specifically in difficult terrain, because we know, for instance, that in Nigeria, Cote d’Ivoire, in Benin and some of these countries, we’ve seen that bad actors tend to use a masking to prevent easy response.”

“So in Nigeria, the case with a famous Sambisa forest matter, that is where they were hiding in the forest, if you don’t train your soldiers so they can go into the forest and respond to a situation, then how are you going to do that?”, he added.

Bright Simons reiterated, “So when we say that, you know, because the place was a forest area, but I beg to differ, I think that we have soldiers that, if that situation were an insurgency, for instance, we would expect that they respond quicker.”

However, the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has urged the media to exercise restraint and accuracy in their commentary on the recent Air Force Z-9 helicopter crash in the Ashanti Region.

GAF is calling on media practitioners, commentators, bloggers, and content creators not to draw conclusions based on opinion, perceptions.

According to GAF, premature conclusions risk misleading the public, but also deepen the pain of the bereaved families.

Captain VA Arhin, Acting Director General of Public Relations, in a statement wrote, “For the sake of the bereaved families and loved ones, the Armed Forces urge media practitioners, panelists, social commentators, bloggers, and content creators to be circumspect in their reportage as a way of according respect to the memories of the fallen heroes and to mitigate the sorrows of the bereaved families”.

“At this point in time, any purported conclusions based on opinion, perceptions, and conjectures will be premature and misleading. The public is therefore advised to be wary of such reportage,” the statement emphasised.

The statement concluded, “May the souls of our patriots continue to rest in peace”.

“My expectation is for NDC to exit the Akwatia by-election”  –  Nana B

0

Henry Nana Boakye, the National Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has said his expectation is for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to withdraw from the upcoming parliamentary by-election for the Akwatia Constituency.

According to Nana Boakye, the NDC has lost five important party dignitaries and going into a fierce contest for them after their burial will not serve their memory.

He asserted that the NDC, in respect of their five members who died in the helicopter crash, should not go into active politics just after their burial.

Speaking in an interview on JoyNews, Nana Boakye stated, “That is my expectation, but then we leave it to them. The reason why I say so is that Akwatia is in the Eastern Region, and the NDC has lost five important party dignitaries, and we are mourning with them.

So, for me, you have a stalwart like Hon. from the Eastern Region, I would say that right after the state burial, then we enter into such fierce contest, for me it will not serve his memory right”.

He added, “I would say that if I were in the NDC, I think that the tension in the country, we can lower it, we can bring it down”.

“Recently, we had Ablekuma, which was a negative story, and then we’ve had this devastating news of this helicopter crash, and after this, we have a by-election ahead of us… It is their decision to make. For us, we are of the view that we do not think that we need to contest in the Tamale Central by-election,” he added.

Nana Boakye’s comments come following the NPP’s decision not to contest following a National Steering Committee meeting held on Monday, August 11, 2025.

The NPP asserts that they believe it would be inhumane and unconscionable to subject the nation to a competitive process in search of a replacement for the late Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed.

In a statement signed by Justin Kodua, the NPP General Secretary, on August 11, 2025, read, “The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has resolved that it would not take part in the Tamale Central Parliamentary by-election to elect a replacement for the late Alhaji Hon. Dr Murtala Mohammed, Member of Parliament (MP) for the Constituency, who was among the ecight (8) who lost their lives in service of the Republic in the helicopter crash that occurred on Wednesday, August 6, 2025.

The statement added, “In arriving at the decision, the Party considered many factors, including the circumstances under which the Tamale Central seat has become vacant and the possibility of a further polarisation of the country at this critical time.

The NPP is of the belief that it would be inhumane and unconscionable to subject the nation to a competitive process in search of a replacement for the departed MP. The Party believes that the tension and acrimony often associated with the conduct of by-elections in the country should be avoided”.

The NPP statement continued, “It is the considered view of the Party that the greatest tribute that the NPP and the rest of the nation can pay in honour of the departed is not only to win the fight against Galamsey but also to ensure a smooth and peaceful replacement for the good people of Tamale Central.

However, Haruna Mohammed, the Deputy General Secretary, has refuted claims that the NPP’s withdrawal from the Tamale Central by-election was a political strategy aimed at getting the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to pull out of the Akwatia by-election.

Speaking on Channel One on Tuesday, August 12, Haruna Mohammed stated, “They have already chosen their candidate. How do they change their mind? We know very well that they have chosen a candidate. Once they have chosen a candidate, there is no way we can bait them.

“I have heard that they came to issue a statement. It is not different. You have already chosen a candidate and so why come back to tell the people that you are contesting? Who does not know that you are contesting?” he stated.

Meanwhile, the Electoral Commission (EC) has officially scheduled Tuesday, September 2, 2025, for the by-election in the Akwatia Constituency.

This follows the passing of Member of Parliament, Ernest Kumi.

Police arrest TikToker Fante Comedy and Akosua Jollof after threatening the lives of Mahama and his wife

The Ghana Police Service has arrested a viral content creator identified as Fante Comedy, commonly known as TikToker Fante Comedy and Akosua Jollof, over threatening the lives of President John Dramani Mahama and his wife, Lordina Mahama.

TikToker Fante Comedy and Akosua Jollof were arrested following the sighting of disturbing videos from a TikTok live stream session of him and some other users mocking the victims of the tragic GAF Z9 crash and issuing threats against Sammy Gyamfi and President Mahama.

Reports suggest TikToker Fante Comedy threatened to kill President John Mahama and behead First Lady Lordina Mahama.

TikToker Fante Comedy also made some other conspiracy comments concerning the tragic GAF Z9 helicopter crash.

In a statement issued on August 12, 2025, the Police said, “The Ghana Police Service has commenced investigations into a viral TikTok video in which an individual is heard threatening the lives of the President of the Republic, H E John Dramani Mahama and the First Lady.

The Ghana Police Service also revealed that other individuals believed to be accomplices are on the run, and a manhunt is underway to apprehend them.

“So far, two people, Prince Ofori and Yayra Abiwu, are in police custody assisting with the ongoing investigation, while efforts are underway to get other persons believed to be connected to the video to assist with the investigation.”

TikToker Fante Comedy and Akosua Jollof’s comment comes after the helicopter crash carrying eight individuals, including three crew members and five passengers, among them the ministers, Dr Omane Boamah and Dr Ibrahim Murtala.

Muniru Mohammed, Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator, and Samuel Aboagye, a former Parliamentary Candidate, and Samuel Sarpong, Vice Chairman of NDC, have all been confirmed dead.

The crew members are Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala, Flying Officer Manin Twum-Ampadu, and Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah.

The eight were on their way to Obuasi to attend an event aimed at fighting illegal mining.

In a brief statement, the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) stated that a helicopter, identified as a Z-9, had reportedly gone off the radar after taking off on the morning of Wednesday, August 6, 2025. The aircraft was headed to Obuasi when contact was lost.

Meanwhile, the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has urged the media to exercise restraint and accuracy in their commentary on the recent Air Force Z-9 helicopter crash in the Ashanti Region.

GAF is calling on media practitioners, commentators, bloggers, and content creators not to draw conclusions based on opinion, perceptions.

According to GAF, premature conclusions risk misleading the public, but also deepen the pain of the bereaved families.

“At this point in time, any purported conclusions based on opinion, perceptions, and conjectures will be premature and misleading. The public is therefore advised to be wary of such reportage,” the statement emphasised.

“Conclusions based on opinion, perceptions, premature and misleading” – GAF on helicopter crash

The statement concluded, “May the souls of our patriots continue to rest in peace”.

Meanwhile, Comfort Doyoe Cudjoe Ghansah, the Deputy Majority Chief Whip, has alleged that available evidence implies the GAF Z-9 helicopter was blasted mid-air.

According to the deputy Majority Whip, the retrieval of the black box will let Ghanaians know what really caused the aircraft to blast before coming down.

Speaking on OKAY FM, Comfort Doyoe Cudjoe Ghansah stated, “The aircraft exploded; it did not crash. Let me tell you something: with all the crashes that have happened in the past, we see that the aircraft lands at a specific location. You would usually find it at a given location where the victims can all be found”.

But in this instance, the parts of the helicopter were scattered, and the victims were found at separate locations. In an aircraft where one is in a seatbelt, how did the victims end up scattered? We are told some of them were found in a deep valley. So, the aircraft blasted before reaching the ground,” she added.

The Deputy Majority Whip added, “We thank God that the black box has been found. Whatever the details are, the government should make them available because we are all interested parties. We want to know what happened that caused the aircraft to blast before coming down”.

Also, Hamza Suhuyini Sayibu, a member of the NDC Communications Team, has criticised GAF over its response to disasters and security.

“Dr Bawumia doesn’t shout, threaten, blackmail, or send out fear” – Miracles jabs Ken Agyapong

0

Dennis Miracles Aboagye, a former spokesperson for the Dr Mahamudu Bawumia campaign in the 2024 elections, has subtly jabbed Kennedy Agyapong.

According to Miracles Aboagye, Dr Bawumia is a known entity and their surest path to victory in the 2028 elections and does not shout, threaten, blackmail, or send out fear.

He further emphasised that Dr Bawumia is the most marketed and known in every corner of Ghana.

Miracles Aboagye revealed that it is only 1,215 days to the next elections, and it is too short a period for the NPP to gamble with what they do not know.

In a social media post, he stated, “We have only 1,215 days to the next elections. Too short a period to gamble with what we do not know. We know what Dr. Bawumia has, 41.7% and we know how much more we need to cross the 50% + 1.

It’s too risky to ignore the known and go after the unknown especially at a time when we have to execute in such a short time”.

He added, “Dr. Bawumia Is the most marketed, known by face and name in every corner of this country. Considering our party members unanimous resolve to win election 2028 without excuses within a tight timeline, we reduce our risk and increase our chances by going for Dr. Bawumia who has been at the frontlines of our party on several occasions.

Dr. Bawumia is Decisive and assertive, a quiet winner, intelligent, credible, incorruptible, respect for all, doesn’t shout or threaten, doesn’t blackmail, doesn’t send out fear, he appeals to both the young and old, rich and poor and doesn’t look down upon any party member or fellow citizen”.

Meanwhile, Kennedy Agyapong has said the New Patriotic Party has a fighting chance in the 2028 elections if the party chooses him as the flagbearer.

According to Kennedy Agyapong, he is the NPP’s best bet to win the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

He boldly emphasised that he is going to beat the NDC hands down if voted as the NPP presidential candidate.

Speaking in an interview on Accra-based Pan African Television, Kennedy Agyapong stated, “The party has a fighting chance, but it depends on the candidate they choose. If they choose Kennedy Agyapong, they have a fighting chance; I will beat NDC hands down”.

3 helicopters recently bought for police are 1976-made and a flying coffin – MP

0

Ernest Henry Norgbey, the Member of Parliament for Ashaiman and a member of Parliament’s Defence and Interior Committee, has said the three helicopters recently bought for the police are 1976-made.

According to Ernest Henry Norgbey, the three helicopters are flying coffins and cannot be used after they have been grounded since their delivery.

It will be recalled that in 2022, the Akufo-Addo Bawumia government approved the procurement of a helicopter for the Ghana Police Service, $2 million was budgeted for the project, with the Vice President Dr Bawumia in charge of the procurement process.

Speaking on Joy FM, Ernest Henry Norgbey stated, “The 1976 helicopters that were delivered, as we speak now, they cannot be used because they were not fit for purpose. A 1976 aircraft that is a flying coffin”.

In addition, Lawyer Twum Barima, a member of the NDC legal team, some months ago accused the former vice president of Ghana, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, of allegedly procuring Helicopters made in 1974 for the Ghana Police Service.

According to him, Dr Bawumia, who was then the Police Council chairperson, got the courage to buy archaic Helicopters for the Ghana Police Service.

He claimed that Dr Bawumia procured three Helicopters for the Ghana Police Service, two made in 1974 and one made in 2005.

Speaking on Lawson TV, Lawyer Twum Barima revealed, “Nana Addo and the Bawumia government, when Dr Bawumia was the Police council chairperson. When they were going to buy Helicopters for the Ghana Police, they got the courage to buy archaic Helicopters and very old helicopters for them to use.

I will give you more details later, but for now, let me give you just the year. The expected life cycle of a Helicopter is 20 years, so if you are going to buy a helicopter in 2022, when you could get 2021, or you can even get a helicopter made in 2022”, he added.

Lawyer Twum Barima further detailed, “Even you can order from a particular company that you want new Helicopters, so they should make some for you, and they can do new ones for you. They were bold enough to go and buy Helicopters manufactured in 1974, and in the year 2005, two were 1974 range and one was from 2005”.

Ernest Henry Norgbey’s comments follow the tragic helicopter crash at Adansi Akrofuom District of the Ashanti Region on Wednesday, August 6, which claimed the lives of eight Ghanaians, including Dr Omane Boamah and Dr Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed, two cabinet members.

The helicopter was carrying eight individuals, including three crew members and five passengers, among them the ministers, a presidential staffer identified as Samuel Sarpong, and the ministers’ security detail.

Meanwhile, Franklin Cudjoe, the President of IMANI Africa, has said the whole country is mourning, but Ghanaians must also demand answers.

According to Franklin Cudjoe, no serious addition of helicopters and maintenance has been done for the last eight years.

He further questioned the state of Ghana’s Armed Forces as alarmingly terrible

In a social media post on X, Franklin Cudjoe wrote, “We are mourning, but we must demand answers! I am in touch with the highest echelons of power and the truth, my dear brothers and sisters, is that the state of Ghana’s Armed Forces was and is still alarmingly terrible.

He added, “No serious additions and maintenance in the last 8 years. My brother, Omane Boamah, consistently raised these issues at almost every Armed Forces Security Council meeting”.

Franklin Cudjoe recounted what a top Military liaison once told him that Ghana would want even if Togo were to attack the country.

“One top  Military liaison” if even Togo were to attack us, we would be wanting”. And yet, we had $58m to mess around with some crap edifice. More details later!   Not all mourners are genuine! I am very, very angry. You should be”, he added.

“We have to wage an all-out war on galamsey in memory of all those who died” – Sam George

0

Sam Nartey George, the Minister for Communication, Digital Technology, and Innovation, has said an all-out war must be declared on galamsey in memory of all those who died in the tragic August 6 helicopter crash.

According to him, there must be decisive action in the fight against galamsey, which is non-negotiable.

Sam George noted that it would be a disservice to the memory of the eight Ghanaians and his colleagues if decisive action is not taken to end illegal mining commonly known as galamsey.

His comments come on the back of Dr Omane Boamah and Dr Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed, two cabinet members who passed away following a helicopter crash at Adansi Akrofuom District of the Ashanti Region on Wednesday, August 6.

The helicopter was carrying eight individuals, including three crew members and five passengers, among them the ministers, a presidential staffer identified as Samuel Sarpong, and the ministers’ security detail.

Speaking on Joy FM Super Morning Show, Sam George stated, “My belief and resolve in the fight against galamsey is as strong as it has ever been”

“I lost my big brother, Kofi Omane Boamah, and seven other sons of our land because of galamsey. The least we can do in their memory is to wage an all-out war on it.”

“Omane had refused to sit in helicopters or planes since he became Defence Minister. This was literally one of the only times he agreed to fly – and it was because of galamsey. That should tell you how deeply invested he was in this fight,” Mr George noted.

He added that the late Omane Boamah believed in using both conventional methods and digital technology to fight galamsey.

Sam George revealed, “As Communications Minister, Omane had given me an assignment in the fight against galamsey. He believed in using both conventional methods and digital technology as part of a holistic solution.”

“It would be a disservice to the memory of our colleagues if we do not take decisive action. We failed to act meaningfully after the tragic death of Major Mahama, and now eight more brave souls have been lost. How many more are we waiting for?”

“There must be decisive action; it’s non-negotiable,” he said.

Meanwhile, Dr Tony Aidoo, a former Ambassador to the Netherlands, has boldly told President John Dramani Mahama to kill the illegal mining menace commonly known as galamsey before it kills his cabinet.

According to Dr Tony Aidoo, President Mahama must not let the eight people who died in last Wednesday’s helicopter crash go in vain.

He emphasised that the best tribute to the eight fallen Ghanaian heroes is for John Mahama to end the galamsey menace once and for all.

Dr Aidoo noted that victims, including two cabinet ministers, lost their lives in the line of duty in an initiative to tackle galamsey.

Speaking on Newsfile on Saturday, August 9, Dr Tony Aidoo stated, “Why were they in the air? They were in the air because they were going to fight galamsey”.

“President Mahama must kill the galamsey menace before it ends his members [of cabinet].”

He added, “God gives, yes, but God does not take innocent lives. People die by their own destruction or by lifestyle. What is President Mahama waiting for? Yesterday, I heard Kwame Mpianim say we must ban galamsey for three months.

In fact, my first reaction after the Chief of Staff gave us the details and confirmed the death was to send the message directly to President Mahama, and I said these eight patriotic souls lost their lives in the fight against galamsey.

So for God’s sake, Mr President, don’t let them die in vain. Stop the galamsey now. That’s the best tribute we can say to these patriotic deaths.”

Dr Tony Aidoo further revealed his relationship with the late Dr Omane Boamah and Dr Sarpong, and Dr Murtala Mohammed.

He added, “To be frank, I had a personal connection with only three of the unfortunate victims of the helicopter crash — Dr Omane Boamah and Dr Sarpong and Dr Murtala Mohammed”.

“Anytime I remember the departed, it is usually with teary eyes, but I am not here to eulogise nor to pay another apologetic tribute. This will be a very tiny voice among the worldwide tributes following the avoidable national tragedy”.

Dr Tony Aidoo, added, “Even though faith says we must eulogise the dead, we must look behind and look for the cause — why did they die? People will say, ‘Oh, the Lord gave us and the Lord takes.’ I say that God did not take. It was we who gave by our mistake of an avoidable death.”

“You choose your battles” – Adomako Kissi on NPP’s Tamale Central withdrawal

0

Dr Adomako Kissi, a former Member of Parliament for Anyaa Sowutuom, has backed the New Patriotic Party’s decision to withdraw from the Tamale Central by-election.

He noted that the battles are chosen and the NPP has chosen theirs by not contesting.

According to Dr Adomako Kissi, the hustle related to a by-election won’t be worth it as Tamale Central is predominantly an NDC seat.

Adomako Kissi emphasised that the move by the NPP is calculated and pragmatic and not necessarily about death.

Speaking on Channel One TV on Tuesday, August 12, Dr. Kissi explained, “This is not necessarily about the death. The numbers for specifically Tamale Central are not favourable, and I think that as a serious country, all the hustle related to a by-election won’t be worth it. Some places are very strongholds for a particular party, no doubt.

“From time in history, it has been NDC. The reality is that this seat has consistently been held by the NDC, and it will undoubtedly remain so. For lack of a better word, you choose your battles, so the NPP has chosen theirs. This is not a favour but a pragmatic decision made, and out of all of this, it is the future that matters,” he said.

Dr. Kissi also called for an enactment that would allow political parties to retain parliamentary seats for a full four-year term when vacancies arise.

He added, “I support the idea where the seat is left for the party for the four years, so that these hotly contested things based on the current behaviour of Ghanaians will be stopped.

“Because of our Ghanaian nature, and looking at the security issues and the deaths that occur during by-elections, including the near-death of a former Minister of State at Ablekuma North, I think it is worth considering,” he said.

His comments follow the NPP’s decision not to contest following a National Steering Committee meeting held on Monday, August 11, 2025.

The decision was taken by the Party at a National Steering Committee meeting held on Monday, August 11, 2025, at the Party Headquarters pursuant to Article 10(10)(1) of the Party Constitution”.

Consequently, the NPP hereby announces that when the Electoral Commission of Ghana opens nominations for the Tamale Central by-election in line with Article 12 (5) of Ghana’s Constitution, the Party will, in accord with the national interest, not take part in the contest”.

“The helicopter blasted; it did not crash” – Deputy Majority Whip

0

Comfort Doyoe Cudjoe Ghansah, the Deputy Majority Chief Whip, has alleged that available evidence implies the GAF Z-9 helicopter was exploded mid-air.

On August 6, 2025, the GAF Z-9 helicopter was carrying eight individuals, including three crew members and five passengers, among them the ministers, a presidential staffer identified as Samuel Sarpong, and the ministers’ security detail, when it crashed on a forest mountainside in the Adansi Akrofuom.

Ghana’s Minister of Defence Edward Omane Boamah, Minister of Environment, Science, Technology Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed, Muniru Mohammed, Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator, and Samuel Aboagye, a former Parliamentary Candidate, and Samuel Sarpong, Vice Chairman of NDC.

The crew members are Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala, Flying Officer Manin Twum-Ampadu, and Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensa, have all been confirmed dead.

Meanwhile, President John Dramani Mahama has announced that the Ghana Armed Forces has initiated a full-scale investigation into the tragic helicopter crash.

According to John Mahama, an investigative Board of Inquiry has been set up to lead the full-scale investigations.

Addressing the nation on August 7, 2025, John Mahama stated, “As we mourn, questions about the cause of this tragedy are natural and important. I want to assure the families and the nation that the Ghana Armed Forces has initiated a full and transparent investigation into the circumstances of this crash.

An Investigative Board of Inquiry has been set up to determine the cause of the crash. The flight data and cockpit voice recorders have been retrieved. All eight bodies of our departed comrades have been recovered, and the government is in close touch with the bereaved families regarding the identification of the bodies and their final interment.”

In addition, Bright Simons the IMANI Africa’s Honorary Vice President, has questioned whether the Ghana Armed Forces are trained to operate in the forest following the August 6 tragic military helicopter crash.

“Will important governance decisions be based on what the oracles say?” – Kwesi Pratt quizzes

0

Kwesi Pratt Jr, a veteran journalist and managing editor of the Insight Newspaper, has waded into the conversation surrounding the government’s new prophecy directives.

The veteran journalist quizzed whether important governance decisions would be based on what the oracles say.

Kwesi Pratt further questioned whether soothsaying has now been incorporated into Ghana’s governance apparatus.

In a social media post on August 11, 2025, Kwesi Pratt wrote, “What is happening? I am completely lost!

Have we now incorporated soothsaying into our governance apparatus? Will important governance decisions be based on what the oracles say?

How is this different from the hamlet chief or headman depending on the witch doctor for direction as to how to deal with problems of health, education, economy, and many more?”

He further questioned the need for an envoy for Interfaith and Ecumenical Relations.

Mr Pratt wrote, “A few days ago, I got to know that my good friend Elvis Afriyie Ankrah (@afriyie_ankrah) has been given a brand-new position – Presidential Envoy for Interfaith and Ecumenical Relations – and the first question that popped into my brain was, WHAT IS THIS?

The biggest surprise was yet to come.

The Ghanaian media reported that “the office of the Presidential Envoy for Interfaith and Ecumenical Relations has issued a significant directive, urging religious leaders across Ghana to formally submit any prophecy or spiritual insight of national significance to its office for urgent review”.

One report said, “The directive specifically targets prophecy relating to high-profile political leaders, governance, national security, or public stability, underscoring the need for prudent and thoughtful guidance”.

It will be recalled that Elvis Afriyie Ankrah, the Presidential Envoy for Interfaith and Ecumenical Relations, earlier statement on Sunday, August 10, calling on all prophets, pastors, men and women of God in the Republic of Ghana to submit any prophecy or spiritual insight of a national nature for urgent review and appropriate escalation.

The statement read, “On behalf of the President of the Republic of Ghana, His Excellency John Dramani Mahama, and the Office of the Presidential Envoy, I extend heartfelt appreciation to you and your various denominations for your unwavering spiritual support, intercessory prayers, and sustained leadership in promoting peace, moral integrity, and national unity. Your role in Ghana’s spiritual and civic life remains indispensable”.

“As part of strengthening national coordination on spiritual matters, especially in these times of uncertainty and complexity, we kindly encourage you to inform all Prophets, Men and Women of God under your oversight that any prophecy or spiritual insight of a national nature, especially those with implications for high-profile political leaders, governance, national security, or public stability should be formally relayed to the Office of the Presidential Envoy for urgent review and appropriate escalation. This is in the spirit of responsibility, discernment, and stewardship over the nation’s destiny.”

Elvis Afriyie Ankrah’s statement added, “The President of the Republic, His Excellency John Dramani Mahama; the Government and all State institutions; the bereaved families and the entire nation of Ghana.”

“May the Lord comfort the afflicted, guide our leaders, and continue to preserve our beloved country. We look forward to continued partnership and shared spiritual responsibility as we work together for the peace and prosperity of Ghana.”

Elvis Afriyie Ankrah’s directive comes after the tragic helicopter crash, which claimed the lives of 8 high-profile personalities, with many prophets claiming to have received insight before the crash.

Also, Elvis Afriyie Ankrah, the Presidential Envoy for Interfaith and Ecumenical Relations, has clarified that Prophets who defy the prophecy directive will be judged by society.

According to Elvis Afryie Ankrah, there is nothing like legal sanctions, but public opinion will be against them if they disobey the directive, which he notes as a powerful tool for accountability.

Speaking on Citi Eyewitness News on Monday, August 11, Elvis Afriyie Ankrah stated, “There is nothing like an arrest when they defy the directive, but society will judge them if they don’t obey.

Wontumi Radio and 8 others suspended by NCA over regulatory breaches

0

The National Communications Authority (NCA) has suspended the operations of Wontumi Radio and 8 others over regulatory breaches.

The NCA, in a statement dated August 12, revealed that the decision follows after they failed to meet President John Mahama’s 30-day grace period.

Sixty-two radio stations were shut down, with two radio stations affiliated with the opposition New Patriotic Party.

The 64 radio stations were previously shut down for failing to comply with broadcasting regulations.

Wontumi FM’s Takoradi outlets are reportedly among the affected radio stations listed in the NCA’s enforcement action announced on Wednesday, June 12, 2025.

A statement by the NCA specified that out of 62 media houses that were shut down, “28 were found to be operating with expired authorisations, while 14 received authorisation but failed to set up operations within two years, breaking the regulatory timelines.

Thirteen were also operating under provisional authorisation, despite having paid the required fees.

The remaining seven stations paid provisional fees, but final authorisation is pending due to non-fulfilment of requirements under Regulation 54 of the Electronic Communications Regulations”.

A statement from the presidency signed by Felix Kwakye Ofosu, Spokesperson to the President and Minister for Government Communications, revealed that Mahama has requested the restoration of those stations.

The regulator NCA revealed several stations took advantage of the amnesty period to remedy breaches.

The NCA, in its statement dated August 12, stated, “Six stations failed, refused and neglected to comply with the regulatory amnesty by taking no action”.

According to the NCA, the nine stations were operating without a valid Certificate of Compliance, contrary to Regulation 54 of the Electronic Communications Regulations, 2011 (L.I. 1991).

The statement, “Consequently, the operations of the following stations have been suspended”.

The stations affected are “Donplus Multimedia Limited (Ho, 105.9), Dreams Ghana Media Limited (New Abirem, 104.9), Jam Multimedia Limited (Kintampo, 101.3), Jewel Group Limited (Duayaw Nkwanta, 102.7), Kandai Star Community Radio (Kpandai, 107.3), Unique Gateway Communication Limited, and three outlets of Wontumi Multimedia Company Limited — operating in Accra (95.9), Kumasi (101.3) and Takoradi (101.3”.

“The NCA will continue to monitor the broadcasting space to ensure compliance with the relevant authorisation conditions and the laws and regulations,” the statement concluded.

Meanwhile, the Communication Minister, Sam George, has reacted to the National Communications Authority (NCA) directive, stressing that the NCA will continue to take decisive action in the interest of Ghana.

In a post on X, Sam George wrote, “We shall continue to take decisive action in the interest of our Country and responsible journalism that respects the terms of the frequency authorisation”.

“If soldiers aren’t trained to operate in the forest, how will they respond?” – Bright Simons

0

Bright Simons the IMANI Africa’s Honorary Vice President, has questioned whether the Ghana Armed Forces are trained to operate in the forest following the August 6 tragic military helicopter crash.

His comments follow the tragic helicopter crash at Adansi Akrofuom District of the Ashanti Region on Wednesday, August 6, that claimed the lives of eight Ghanaians, including Dr Omane Boamah and Dr Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed, two cabinet members.

The helicopter was carrying eight individuals, including three crew members and five passengers, among them the ministers, a presidential staffer identified as Samuel Sarpong, and the ministers’ security detail.

The hustle related to the Tamale Central by-election is not worth it – Ex-NPP MP

0

Dr Adomako Kissi, a former Member of Parliament for Anyaa Sowutuom, has said the hustle related to the Tamale Central by-election is not worth it.

The former MP backed the New Patriotic Party’s decision to withdraw from the Tamale Central by-election.

He noted that the battles are chosen and the NPP has chosen theirs by not contesting.

According to Dr Adomako Kissi, Tamale Central is historically dominated by the NDC and would not be wise for the NPP to waste funds.

The decision was taken by the Party at a National Steering Committee meeting held on Monday, August 11, 2025, at the Party Headquarters pursuant to Article 10(10)(1) of the Party Constitution”.

Consequently, the NPP hereby announces that when the Electoral Commission of Ghana opens nominations for the Tamale Central by-election in line with Article 12 (5) of Ghana’s Constitution, the Party will, in accord with the national interest, not take part in the contest”.

President Mahama reveals plans to fund helicopter crash victims children

0

President John Mahama has revealed plans to create a dedicated fund for the eight victims in the tragic August 6 helicopter crash.

According to John Mahama, all those who died were at the prime of their lives and had so many responsibilities.

President Mahama made this known when he attended the funeral of the late Deputy National Security Coordinator, Alhaji Mohammed Muniru Limuna.

He further reiterated plans for a state funeral for all eight victims will be held this Friday, August 15.

Speaking during an address on Tuesday, August 12, John Mahama stated, “It’s a difficult calamity. Because if you look at all those who died, they were at the prime of their lives and had so much responsibility, children still in school, and some even with infants as young as two months… These responsibilities are what we have to take up to make sure that the absence of the parents does not adversely affect the innocent children.”

“At the funeral, we will announce a programme for creating a fund that will assist with the education of their children,” he said.

He added, “Persons who want to contribute to the future of the children they’ve left behind would have the opportunity to do so”.

The helicopter was carrying eight individuals, including three crew members and five passengers, among them the ministers, a presidential staffer identified as Samuel Sarpong, and the ministers’ security detail.

Muniru Mohammed, Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator, and Samuel Aboagye, a former Parliamentary Candidate, and Samuel Sarpong, Vice Chairman of NDC, have all been confirmed dead.

“I was faced with the option of shutting down the internet” – Sam George on tragic helicopter crash videos

0

Sam Nartey George, the minister of Communications, Digital Technology and Innovation, has revealed he was faced with the option of shutting down the internet to prevent the further spread of the tragic helicopter crash videos on August 6.

Sam George noted that he got a call that disturbing videos were being circulated, with the government yet to formally complete its communications to the families of the bereaved.

Speaking on Joy FM’s Super Morning Show, Sam George revealed, “When it comes to the coverage of the tragedy, I’d say that it’s been a mixed part for me, and let me say a very big thank you to the telecom companies – MTN, Telecel, and AirtelTigo, Ghana”.

“When the incident happened, I was distraught, but we still had a responsibility to the state. I got a call with the videos that started circulating. The unfortunate situation is that most of them were circulating on WhatsApp, and WhatsApp is a platform that is not controlled by any country. It’s a private business,” he explained.

He added, “I was faced as Minister of Communication with two options, one was to shut down the internet in the country to prevent further spread of the videos, because government had not officially completed communication to the families. Government had not made a formal communication.

You had some of the kids who are old enough being online. I was worried about the mental health of those kids and their spouses, and such a tragedy needs to be broken in a certain way”.

Sam George, however, noted that the shutdown will have had its own consequences.

He added, “That was one option—to shut down, make a public announcement and say we’re turning off the internet for a period to allow for calm to prevail and have a grip of everything before we allow. But then that also came with its own consequences”.

Many of you stream the news, how people get the news via stream and all of that. You could have a ripple effect that would actually be worse than what you were trying to fix. And so, we had to leave that intact.”

The sector minister on Joy Super Morning Show revealed he opted for a behind-the-scenes effort by reaching out to Meta and activating a POC.

Sam George further narrated, “I immediately reached out to Meta and activated a POC that we had there to see what Meta could do, because Meta controls the WhatsApp platform. Then I started making personal calls to senior vice presidents that I knew at Meta to see what could be done. They assured me they were going to look into the matter.”

“Then I reached out to the NCA and asked them to get in touch with all the CEOs. I personally placed calls to the three CEOs and said they should work with the NCA. We sent out about 30 million text messages within the space of two hours, and the telecom companies bore the cost for this,” he said.

Sam George further revealed that all messages sent from the Ministry of Communications were funded by the telecom operators.

“All those messages that went out from the MOCDTI asking people to please exercise restraint, the cost was borne by the telecom companies themselves as part of working with us. The NCA coordinated the blast of the messages across the country,” Sam George added.

Meanwhile, the tragic helicopter crash at Adansi Akrofuom District of the Ashanti Region on Wednesday, August 6, claimed the lives of eight Ghanaians, including Dr Omane Boamah and Dr Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed, two cabinet members.

SHOCK – Prophet Fire Oja EXPOSED over “I don’t own a car” claims

0

Prophet Ogyaba, popularly known as Prophet Fire Oja, founder of the Holiness of Christ Zion Ministry, has been exposed after boldly claiming he does not own a car to convey government prophecy.

Prophet Fire Oja, in an interview, urged the government to give prophets cars and fuel for them to be able to convey their prophecies, claiming he does not own a car.

Speaking in an interview, Prophet Fire Oja stated, “We will follow the directives, and we are still going to say it. They must add a car and transportation to it. Probably it is not everyone will get money to board a car to deliver the message.

I am begging the leaders of Ghana, the directives that they have put out, we respect them and we will continue to pray for them and listen to them, but my only request is that if the prophecy comes and we are to bring them, we are pleading with them to help us with fuel and a car”.

Prophet Fire Oja added, “For me, I do not have a car, so when it comes, I will suffer”.

Barely 24 hours after his interview went viral, a viral photo of Prophet Fire Oja standing beside a customised Range Rover with his number plate in his name has surfaced on social media, exposing the man of God badly.

Some Ghanaians have reacted to the viral photos by saying, “You don’t need a soothsayer to tell you the modus operandi of these conmen disguised as prophets. In their minds, a plethora of Ghanaians are impressionable, especially when the discourse revolves around religion, spirituality, divination and so forth. In the end, they win”.

Another netizen wrote, “He never saw anything…. what’s bound to happen will happen bruh…I don’t believe these so-called prophets or pastors…God don’t do his works like this”.

“Bunch of criminals. All they know is to give fake and evil prophecies. They never see anything good coming”, another Ghanaian boldly stated.

Additionally, a netizen wrote, “I don’t blame him. I blame our TV stations. All of a sudden, he is on every TV station. Was that not even Stupidity and promoting criminalities by our stations?”.

Meanwhile,  Elvis Afriyie Ankrah, the Presidential Envoy for Interfaith and Ecumenical Relations, in a statement on Sunday, August 10, called on all prophets, pastors, men and women of God in the Republic of Ghana to submit any prophecy or spiritual insight of a national nature for urgent review and appropriate escalation.

“Regardless of political colours, these gestures make a nation great” – Consul of Ghana to Italy praises NPP

0

The Honorary Consul of Ghana to Italy, Massimiliano Colasuonno Taricone, has praised the New Patriotic Party (NPP) following their decision not to contest in the Tamale Central Parliamentary by-election.

According to the NPP, their decision comes following a National Steering Committee meeting held on Monday, August 11, 2025.

The decision was taken by the Party at a National Steering Committee meeting held on Monday, August 11, 2025, at the Party Headquarters pursuant to Article 10(10)(1) of the Party Constitution”.

Consequently, the NPP hereby announces that when the Electoral Commission of Ghana opens nominations for the Tamale Central by-election in line with Article 12 (5) of Ghana’s Constitution, the Party will, in accord with the national interest, not take part in the contest”.

Reacting to the NPP decision, the Consul of Ghana to Italy in a post on X August 12, 2025, wrote, “ Regardless of political parties and colours, these are the gestures that make a nation great and its people grow”.

He further congratulated President Mahama for setting Ghana on this path, saying, “I congratulate the President @JDMahama, who, with his path, is bringing a new way of seeing society beyond political colours. Ghana is a great country”.

However, Ghana’s Article 112(5) of the 1992 constitution states that whenever a vacancy occurs in Parliament, the Clerk of Parliament notifies the Electoral Commission in writing within seven days.

A by-election is then held within thirty days after the vacancy occurred, except that where the vacancy occurred through the death of a member, the by-election shall be held within sixty days after the occurrence of the vacancy.

The 112(5) added that a by-election shall not be held within three months before the holding of a general election.

Meanwhile, Mussa Dankwa, the Executive Director of Global Info Analytics, has said it’s against democratic principles for the NPP to withdraw from a by-election because someone died.

According to Mussa Dankwa, the NPP cannot pick and choose, and there must be a contest.

He is quoted by JOY NEWS to have stated, “It’s against democratic principles for the NPP to withdraw from a by-election because of death. We can’t pick and choose. There must be a contest”.

“Give us cars and fuel so we can convey prophecies” – Prophet Fire Oja

0

Prophet Ogyaba, popularly known as Prophet Fire Oja, founder of the Holiness of Christ Zion Ministry, has urged the government to give prophets cars and fuel for them to be able to convey their prophecies.

According to Prophet Fire Oja, they will follow the government’s new directive on prophecies for review if the State provides them with a car and fuel.

His comments come on the back of Elvis Afriyie Ankrah, the Presidential Envoy for Interfaith and Ecumenical Relations earlier statement on Sunday, August 10, calling on all prophets, pastors, men and women of God in the Republic of Ghana to submit any prophecy or spiritual insight of a national nature for urgent review and appropriate escalation.

Most Rev. Joseph Osei Bonsu, a former President of the Ghana Catholic Bishops’ Conference and Bishop Emeritus of the Konongo-Mampong Catholic Diocese, has urged Ghanaian prophets to learn and stop prophesying doom and gloom.

Bishop Osei Bonsu noted that most Ghanaian Prophets focus on death or disaster.

According to him, in the Old Testament, prophets were sent to preach God’s word and guide people, as they did not always prophesy doom and gloom.

Bishop Osei Bonsu emphasised that Ghanaian prophets must be discreet and sensitive when sharing prophecies.

Speaking to Citi News on Monday, August 11, 2025, Most Rev Osei Bonsu stated, “If God has revealed something to you, find the right way to go about it. My concern is that these days, most prophecies focus on death or disaster.

Elvis Afriyie Ankrah’s directive comes after the tragic helicopter crash, which claimed the lives of 8 high-profile personalities, with many prophets claiming to have received insight before the crash.

The incident quickly became intertwined with a resurfaced video of a prophecy by Ghanaian preacher Samuel Henry, also known as Prophet Roja.

They used to complain that they did not have access to victims, and now they have been given access,” he said.

The Helicopter incident quickly became intertwined with a resurfaced video of a prophecy by Ghanaian preacher Samuel Henry, also known as Prophet Roja.

In the video, Roja claimed he had a vision of a domestic plane crash on July 29, 2025, on a flight from Accra to Kumasi. While his prophecy was for a different date and type of aircraft, and he described it as “conditional” upon prayer, many citizens have drawn a direct connection.

Also, on July 13, Prophet Nigel Gaisie warned of a “plane crash” involving a smaller domestic aircraft. Weeks later, on August 3, Prophet Eric Boahen, also known as Prophet Uche, issued a similar caution.

Earlier in April, Prophet Fire Ogya advised a soldier to decline an upcoming flying assignment to avoid disaster — a soldier who followed his warning survived, while Addo perished in the incident.

Prophet Roja’s earlier video warning has also resurfaced online. He has since stated that he has a message for former Chief of Staff Julius Debrah regarding the tragedy.

Adom Kyei-Duah to give accreditation to Al Jazeera, BBC, Sky News, CNN for upcoming 31st Night

0

Stephen Adom Kyei-Duah, the Leader of the Believers Worship Centre, according to the voice of Philadelphia, is set to give accreditation to some foreign media for its upcoming 31st Night 2025 at the City of Philadelphia.

According to the voice of Philadelphia, Al Jazeera, BBC, Sky News, and CNN will be given accreditation to broadcast their 31st Night.

They also revealed that local media houses and bloggers will be given accreditation.

Speaking on the voice of Philadelphia Father Bismark stated, “This year, the city of Philadelphia, Al Jazeera, BBC, Sky News, CNN, and all the foreign media houses will be given accreditation after the local media houses and bloggers will also been given accreditation for them to come and use their eyes to see things, after they go out there, they will respect their elders”.

In related news, Stephen Adom Kyei-Duah, on Sunday, August 10, jabbed prophets, creating fear and panic over claims they foresaw the recent helicopter crash.

According to Adom Kyei-Duah, no more aircraft are going to crash in the country, declaring that the crash on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, would be the last.

He boldly urged Ghanaians not to fall for these prophets.

Speaking to his congregation, the man of God stated, “People are saying another one will happen, and others will also die. I am stating it plainly, mark my words, this is the last one in Ghana”.

Stephen Adom Kyei-Duah added, “If you are a prophet, I destool you. If you are a Christian, this is your last warning: respect your God, respect your God.

Some of the ministers who died were Muslims. Have you heard what their people are saying? They give glory to Allah over what has happened. They have accepted the course of Allah”.

He added, “Christians must learn to respect themselves and also respect their Lord and Saviour Jesus. Enough is enough; this nonsense must stop”.

According to him, President John Mahama and his ministers must focus on governing the country and ignore prophecies from certain prophets.

Adom Kyei’s comment comes following Rev Isaac Owusu Bempah, the Leader of the Glorious Word Power, saying the helicopter crash on August 6 that claimed the lives of eight Ghanaians is not the end.

According to the man of God, the tragedy that befell the nation could have been averted if government officials had not ignored his calls continuously for three months.

Speaking to his congregation on the military Helicopter crash, Rev Owusu Bempah stated, “I talked to the Archbishop and told him I have made several calls, but I hardly get anyone. I called somebody for three months and informed him about a looming tragedy, but we couldn’t meet.

“I wanted to discuss with him so that we can see his bosses and find a way to deal with it, but he always had one excuse or the other to give me for three months and never showed up,” he added.

He added, “No one should go and sit somewhere that the prophets didn’t see the tragedy coming”

He recounted, “I told Archbishop to inform Opanyin (Mahama) to avoid local flights or travelling by flights within the country, otherwise the news will be bad, and Archbishop is my witness.”

Do you know what has happened that is not the end?” he firmly added.

“NPP can’t pick and choose; there must be a contest” – Mussa Dankwa on Tamale Central by-election

Mussa Dankwa, the Executive Director of Global Info Analytics, has said it’s against democratic principles for the NPP to withdraw from a by-election because someone died.

According to Mussa Dankwa, the NPP cannot pick and choose, and there must be a contest.

Dr Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed and Dr Omane Boamah passed away following a helicopter crash at Adansi Akrofuom District of the Ashanti Region on Wednesday, August 6.

The helicopter was carrying eight individuals, including three crew members and five passengers, among them the ministers, a presidential staffer identified as Samuel Sarpong, and the ministers’ security detail.

“We have lost a mother, not just the queen mother” – Dr Bawumia

0

Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, the former Vice President, has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Asantehemaa Nana Ama Konadu Yiadom III.

Dr Bawumia, in a heartfelt statement, called the late Asantehemaa Nana Ama Konadu Yiadom III an “enduring symbol of unity, grace, and candour.”

According to Dr Bawumia, the Asante Kingdom has lost a mother, not just the queen mother.

In a social media post on X, Dr Bawumia wrote, “It is with a heavy heart that I join His Majesty the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the Asanteman Council and Asanteman in mourning the passing of our dearest Queen Mother, Asantehemaa Nana Ama Konadu Yiadom III.

Nana, throughout her reign, remained an enduring symbol of unity, grace, and candour”.

The former vice president added, “Her sense of compassion and open arms received many, of whom I am proud to have been part. Her words of encouragement and counsel, just as her prayers, have been a source of strength for me.

We have lost a mother, not just the queen mother.

Ohemaa Konadu Yiadom, Due. Asanteman Damirifa Due”, he concluded.

The late Nana Konadu Yiadom III died at the age of 91 after reigning for eight years.

She was the second most powerful person in Asanteman after the Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.

The news of her death was announced following an emergency Asanteman Traditional Council meeting on Monday, August 11, 2025.

Reports suggest the Asantehemaa passed at the dawn of August 7, 2025.

The late Nana Konadu Yiadom III, Asantehemaa, was enstooled on February 6, 2017, as the 14th Queen Mother of the Ashanti Kingdom.

She succeeded her mother, Nana Afia Kobi Serwaa Ampem II, who reigned for 39 years until her passing in 2016 at age 109.

She was born in 1927 at Benyaade Shrine at Merdan, a small town located at Kwadaso, Kumasi, in the days of the restoration of the Asante Confederacy.

Born to Nana Afia Kobi and Opanin Kofi Fofie, Nana Konadu Yiadom III, known as Nana Panin, is the eldest sister of Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.

She was chosen as the customary heir after her mother’s death, despite other eligible relatives.

The Asantehemaa was raised by her aunt in Kumasi. She received no formal education but underwent rigorous informal training, equipping her with wisdom equivalent to formal schooling.

Nana Konadu Yiadom III married Kwame Boateng, a blacksmith, and is a member of the Saviour Church.

As Asantehemaa, Nana Konadu Yiadom III advises the Asantehene, preserves Ashanti traditions, and champions women’s empowerment, education, and healthcare.

She also holds court twice weekly to resolve cultural and spiritual conflicts.

Marking her 8th year on the stool in 2025, she celebrated with traditional rites at Manhyia Palace, joined by Otumfuo Osei Tutu II and other queen mothers.

Her reign focuses on community development and cultural preservation.

In 2022, the Asantehemaa marked the fifth anniversary of her enstoolment with a durbar.

Then Vice-President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, and the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, attended the grand durbar,

The event brought out the best in Asante culture and tradition, and a colourful display.

The Asantehemaa was in a splendid, beautiful Kente, and arrived at Dwabrem in a palanquin, with the Asante Royal colours of yellow, black and green surrounding her.

Otumfuo Osei Tutu, addressing the gathering, said queen mothers played a very important role in the administration of the Asante Kingdom and the stability of the chieftaincy institution.

He noted that the queen mothers played a crucial role during the colonial days, and without them, the Asante Kingdom would have disintegrated by now.

The Asantehene paid glorious tribute to the celebrated Nana Yaa Asantewaa, the Ejisuhemaa, who led the Asante army in the Anglo-Asante war of 1900.

In addition, it will be recalled that the Asantehemaa celebrated the Asantehe, Otumfuo Osei Tutu 11, during his 75th birthday on May 6, 2025.

The Asantehemaa rarely makes public appearances, but stormed the residence of Otumfuo at the Manhyia Palace.

She was dressed in a white cloth to signify victory and joy. The Otumfuo met him with a smile in a white Kaftan.

Nana Konadu Yiadom III exchanged pleasantries with the Asantehene and the wife, Lady Julia and also prayed for a long life for the Otumfuo.

She then presented precious gifts to the Asantehene to celebrate the special day and later joined the Otumfuo and Lady Julia to cut the cake.

The Asantehene thanked Nana Konadu Yiadom III and was touched by her display of love.

Traditionally, the Asantehemaa is the mother of the Otumfuo.

Society will judge Prophets if they defy prophecy directive – Afriyie Ankrah

0

Elvis Afriyie Ankrah, the Presidential Envoy for Interfaith and Ecumenical Relations, has said that Prophets who defy the prophecy directive will be judged by society.

They used to complain that they did not have access to victims, and now they have been given access,” he said.

Elvis Afriyie Ankrah, in an earlier statement on Sunday, August 10 called on faith leaders to intensify their prayers for President John Dramani Mahama, the government and all state institutions.

According to a letter dated August 10, 2025, Elvis Afriyie Ankrah called on all prophets, pastors, men and women of God in the Republic of Ghana to submit any prophecy or spiritual insight of a national nature for urgent review and appropriate escalation.

The incident quickly became intertwined with a resurfaced video of a prophecy by Ghanaian preacher Samuel Henry, also known as Prophet Roja.

In the video, Roja claimed he had a vision of a domestic plane crash on July 29, 2025, on a flight from Accra to Kumasi. While his prophecy was for a different date and type of aircraft, and he described it as “conditional” upon prayer, many citizens have drawn a direct connection.

They see the prophecy as a warning that was not heeded, sparking conversations about fate versus free will and the responsibility of religious leaders. The fact that the prophecy was “conditional” is a significant point of debate for believers, suggesting that the tragedy could have been averted.

This belief provides a powerful but painful narrative for those seeking meaning in a senseless loss: the crash wasn’t just a random accident; it was a consequence of a spiritual failing, a warning ignored.

Several Ghanaian prophets have come forward claiming they predicted the recent military aircraft crash.

On July 13, Prophet Nigel Gaisie warned of a “plane crash” involving a smaller domestic aircraft.

The decision was taken by the Party at a National Steering Committee meeting held on Monday, August 11, 2025, at the Party Headquarters pursuant to Article 10(10)(1) of the Party Constitution”.

Consequently, the NPP hereby announces that when the Electoral Commission of Ghana opens nominations for the Tamale Central by-election in line with Article 12 (5) of Ghana’s Constitution, the Party will, in accord with the national interest, not take part in the contest”.

“We can now appreciate why we couldn’t have put Akufo-Addo in just any jet” – Ex-NPP MP

0

Dr Dickson Adomako Kissi, a former Member of Parliament for Anyaa-Sowutuom, has waded into the military helicopter crash on August 6, 2025.

According to him, the military helicopter crash may perhaps help Ghanaians to appreciate why the NPP in office could not have former President Akufo-Addo in any jet.

Speaking on GH ONE TV, Dr. Dickson Adomako Kissi is quoted to have stated, “Perhaps we can now appreciate why we couldn’t have put former President Akufo-Addo in just any jet”.

The now Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, Minister of Foreign Affairs in opposition, exposed then-President Akufo-Addo’s use of private jets.

He exposed former President Akufo-Addo’s $20,000-an-hour luxury jet travels, which he revealed as a wasteful expense.

The exposé pressured Akufo-Addo to revert to using Ghana’s presidential jet, saving millions of dollars in taxpayer funds.

Dr Dickson Adomako Kissi’s comments come following the tragic helicopter crash at Adansi Akrofuom District of the Ashanti Region on Wednesday, August 6, which claimed the lives of Dr Omane Boamah and Dr Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed.

The crew members are Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala, Flying Officer Manin Twum-Ampadu, and Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah.

According to initial reports, the high-ranking government officials were aboard a Ghana Armed Forces Z-9 helicopter en route to Obuasi when the aircraft went off radar.

The cause of the crash is not yet known, and officials have yet to release full details.

In a brief statement, the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) stated that a helicopter, identified as a Z-9, had reportedly gone off the radar after taking off on the morning of Wednesday, August 6, 2025. The aircraft was headed to Obuasi when contact was lost.

Meanwhile, the Defence Minister, Dr Omane Boamah, before his passing, revealed Ghana’s presidential jet is sick and heavily corroded.

According to the Defence Minister, the Presidential jet is in France due to serious technical faults.

Omane Boamah further revealed that the return date for the Presidential jet keeps changing.

Speaking at the Government Accountability Series on Monday, July 21, Dr Omane Boamah stated, “It is sad to note that for some time now, whenever the president’s jet goes for either maintenance or overhaul, the date that is scheduled for it to return to Ghana keeps changing”.

“They have extended it to two months before, and later two and a half. In this case, as we speak, the aircraft is still not in.”

“We are hoping that the date that has been given will see the Falcon in Ghana,” he said.

“The truth is that the presidential jet is heavily corroded… However, that does not in any way justify hiring or renting luxurious aircraft persistently for presidential use,” he asserted.

“Mr President, don’t let them die in vain, stop galamsey now” – Tony Aidoo

0

Dr Tony Aidoo, a former Ambassador to the Netherlands, has called on President John Dramani Mahama not to let the eight people who died in last Wednesday’s helicopter crash go in vain.

According to Dr Tony Aidoo, the best tribute to the eight fallen Ghanaian heroes is for John Mahama to end the galamsey menace once and for all.

His comments come following Dr Omane Boamah and Dr Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed, two cabinet members who passed away following a helicopter crash at Adansi Akrofuom District of the Ashanti Region on Wednesday, August 6.

The crew members are Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala, Flying Officer Manin Twum-Ampadu, and Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah.

Meanwhile, Dr Tony Aidoo, in an earlier interview, warned President John Mahama about the galamsey menace.

He sent a stern warning to the John Mahama-led government.

According to him, the goodwill that the people of Ghana gave the NDC is going to be dissipated due to Mahama’s inaction on galamsey and corruption issues.

He emphasised that Mahama must not think that Ghanaians do not care about the galamsey fight and warned that if he does not solve the galamsey issues, Ghanaians will vote the NDC out in 2028.

Speaking in an interview on Joy News on Thursday, July 17, Dr Tony Aidoo stated, “If the goodwill that the people of Ghana gave the NDC is going to be dissipated, it will be due to inaction on galamsey and corruption issues.

If the government is unable to solve the galamsey issue, I will be disappointed because it was an electoral promise, and you cannot take Ghanaians for a ride,” he stated.

He warned, “Akufo-Addo didn’t care, so President Mahama must not think that Ghanaians do not care about the fight. If he doesn’t solve the galamsey issues, the Ghanaian people will vote the NDC government out in 2028”.

“Six months is long enough to solve galamsey. The Blue Water Guards and the GoldBoard Taskforce are commendable policies, but he should stop the galamsey,” he added.

“Dr Omane Boamah hated helicopters” – Interior Minister

0

The Minister of Interior, Muntaka Mubarak, has revealed that the late Defence Minister Dr Omane Boamah never liked the idea of boarding a helicopter.

According to the interior minister, this was Omane Boamah’s first time boarding the helicopter since the NDC came into office.

He revealed that the late Omane Boamah used to caution him about using the helicopter.

Speaking on JOY FM Super Morning Show, Muntaka Mubarak revealed, “Dr. Omane Boamah never liked boarding a helicopter. Since we came 7 months ago, he has never boarded any of the Helis, and he hates it. He keeps warning me, I used it most often.

If you go and check the Ghana Armed Forces invoice, probably myself, Hon Haruna Iddrisu, Mahama Ayairga and a few others who have used the Helis”.

He further recounted, “The week before this incident, the weekend Saturday, something needed to be done urgently in Tamale and the President asked me to go and deal with it, so I called the Air Force commander, the Chief of Air Staff, that him should prepare the Heli for me to go to Tamale and back.

When I called him, he was like Muntaka, Why are you always using this Heli? I told you that this thing I am not comfortable with it”.

The interior minister added, “He was ready to board the Heli for the first time despite his reservations, and yet the first time he used it, he never returned.

Because of the affirmation he made to the president and the commitment he personally made to the president that he was going to fight galamsey with all the energy he was willing to board the Helicopter, and he lost his life”.

Dr Omane Boamah and Dr Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed passed away following a helicopter crash at Adansi Akrofuom District of the Ashanti Region on Wednesday, August 6.

The helicopter was carrying eight individuals, including three crew members and five passengers, among them the ministers, a presidential staffer identified as Samuel Sarpong, and the ministers’ security detail.

“Shatta Wale’s Lamborghini Urus is a rental” – DJ Slim

0

Media personality DJ Slim has called out  Ghanaian dancehall artist Charles Nii Armah, popularly known as Shatta Wale, for deceiving Ghanaians.

According to DJ Slim, Shatta Wale is not the owner of the seized Lamborghini Urus.

DJ Slim revealed that Shatta Wale’s yellow Lamborghini, the Escalade and several other cars are owned by Dream Car Collection.

Speaking on an X space,  DJ Slim stated, “I wonder what he seeks to achieve, this issue is very simple. If we are running with the Shatta narrative of ‘I bought a stolen car’ or ‘I bought a car from a third party’ just produce the third party, and then you are good, you are clean, you don’t even need to worry about anything.

“He can’t do that because he is caught between a hard place and a rock, he still comes out telling the world that he bought the car while he knows perfectly that is not the case. It’s an agreement between him and the owners of Dream Car Collection that they would come for the car. It is not just the yellow Lamborghini; the Escalade is also part of it, several cars you have seen in his music video are a part of it, from 2024 till now.

He added, “… it’s a rental, so definitely if there is an event and they have people who are in need of a Lamborghini, they would definitely go for it and use it for work and then return it to Shatta Wale. It’s a type of relationship that they have. All he needs to do is tell the world or EOCO that this is it, so he can be freed that the car eno be my own, but he is still telling the world that the car is his, and that is where the issue is.”

It will be recalled that Shatta Wale’s luxury Lamborghini Urus was seized by the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO).

EOCO revealed the vehicle is linked to a convicted Ghanaian American, Nana Kwabena Amuah, serving a jail term in the United States.

However,  Shatta Wale has cried out that he bought his luxury Lamborghini Urus $150,000.

According to Shatta Wale, he did not know the car was from the embattled former senior officer of the National Signal Bureau (NSB), Adu Boahene.

Shatta Wale, in a TikTok live session, angrily distanced himself from the ‘stolen’ Lamborghini retrieved by EOCO from his residence.

He further claimed he was merely a third party and had no knowledge of who shipped the car into the country.

Shatta Wale stated, “I bought the Lamborghini for $150,000 and didn’t know it was from Adu Boahene. I’m leaving the car for you people, don’t come to my house, and let nobody invite me.”

“Raymond Archer, I will leave the car for you people. Don’t come to my house. Don’t let anybody invite me. That’s why I have bought a new Lamborghini,” he fumed.

Shatta Wale further moaned about the treatment he has received despite his contributions to the Ghanaian music industry.

He boldly added that the ongoing situation would push him into politics.

“My music, the way I have suffered, and how they are treating me in this country, one day I will wake up and become president”.

Shatta Wale further lamented that he was being harassed by EOCO because of Adu-Boahene.

According to Shatta Wale, he has no business relationship with Kwabena Adu-Boahene.

“I bought the Lamborghini for $150,000 and didn’t know it was from Adu Boahene. I’m leaving the car for you people, don’t come to my house, and let nobody invite me.”

He added, “Shatta Adu-Boahene is going down. Listen to this carefully so that if anyone comes to my house and I say I won’t go anywhere, they don’t come and say I didn’t try. It is too much; you are using power to abuse people.

He told me Adu-Boahene is going down, and if I want to go down with him, he doesn’t give a f**k about it. He is telling me that if I don’t show them where Adu Boahene’s cars he’s given me are, he will give me to the FBI”.

“My son spent one week with his wife after marriage” – Mother of Sergeant Ernest Addo-Mensah

0

The mother of Sergeant Ernest Addo-Mensah has opened up about her son’s tragic death in the helicopter crash on August 6, 2025.

According to the Mother of Sergeant Ernest Addo-Mensah, her son only spent one week with his wife after their marriage.

Sergeant Addo’s mother also revealed that her son also secured a US visa and was planning to quit the army and travel.

He further added that his son knew God and is hopeful that he will be in the bosom of the Almighty.

Speaking in an interview, Sergeant Ernest Addo-Mensah’s mother disclosed, “My son only spent one week with his wife after their wedding ceremony, and he left for work. When he was leaving, his wife, who is a teacher, kept weeping. We could not tell why she was weeping.

We only thought that because it is a new marriage, she would miss her husband, which is the reason why she was weeping.

He did not see her until we were told that he had died on August 6, 2025,” Sergeant Ernest Addo-Mensah’s mother added.

Ernest Addo-Mensah was among the crew members who died alongside Dr Omane Boamah and Dr Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed following a helicopter crash at Adansi Akrofuom District of the Ashanti Region on Wednesday, August 6.

The crew members are Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala, Flying Officer Manin Twum-Ampadu, and Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah.

Meanwhile, President John Dramani Mahama has announced that a State funeral will be held on August 15 for the victims of the helicopter crash.

President Mahama said in a live broadcast on August 7, 2025 stated, “On Saturday, 9th August at 5.00 pm, the nation will gather at the forecourt of the State House for an Evening of Reflections and Memorial in honour of our departed colleagues”.

“Books of condolence will be opened simultaneously at the Ministry of Defence, the Ministry of Environment, Science and Technology, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ghana Armed Forces Headquarters, the National Democratic Congress headquarters, and the head office of NADMO, from Sunday, 10th August to Thursday, 14th August 2025”.

He added, “On Friday, 15th August, an inter-denominational state funeral will be held for the eight heroes at the Black Star Square. My brothers and sisters, countrymen and women, may God bless their souls”.

The inter-denominational funeral ceremony forms part of a week-long national mourning period dedicated to paying tribute to the victims, whom President Mahama described as “national heroes who died in the line of duty”.

Sam George must sanitise social media to curb spread of prophecies – Boakye-Danquah

0

Dr Palgrave Boakye-Danquah, a former Government Spokesperson on Governance and Security, has called on Sam George, the Minister for Communications, to sanitise social media to curb the spread of prophecies.

He noted that the spread of prophecies and spiritual pronouncements within the Ghanaian social media space promotes fear and panic.

Speaking on Channel One TV’s Breakfast Daily on Monday, August 11, Dr Palgrave Boakye-Danquah stated, “I think that the channels and the paths have been made clear for everyone.

I would also ask and plead with the Minister for Communications to examine the sanitisation of the social media space, as many of these social media prophecies also cause fear and panic,” he said.

He added, “Suppose there is a way that a communiqué can also come to reinforce what the special envoy has stated from the Ministry of Communications that all prophetic and spiritual issues should be communicated directly to the Presidency. In that case, I think that would be ideal”.

His comment follows the Presidential Envoy for Interfaith and Ecumenical Relations, Elvis Afriyie Ankrah, who has called on faith leaders, all prophets, pastors, men and women of God in the Republic of Ghana to submit any prophecy or spiritual insight of a national nature for urgent review and appropriate escalation.

“Kill the galamsey menace before it kills your cabinet” – Mahama told

0

Dr Tony Aidoo, a former Ambassador to the Netherlands, has told President John Dramani Mahama to kill the illegal mining menace commonly known as galamsey before it kills his cabinet.

Meanwhile, Dr Tony Aidoo, in a separate interview some weeks ago, before the helicopter crash, warned John Mahama about the galamsey menace.

“I made several calls and attempts…” – Rev Owusu Bempah on the Helicopter crash

0

Rev Isaac Owusu Bempah, the Leader of the Glorious Word Power, has revealed that the tragedy that befell the nation could have been averted if government officials had not ignored his calls continuously for three months.

According to Rev Isaac Owusu Bempah, he made several calls and attempts to reach one individual over three months, just to meet him and inform him of an impending tragedy.

He revealed that the individual always kept giving him one excuse after another.

Nevertheless, the tragic helicopter crash claimed the lives of 8 high-profile personalities, with many prophets claiming to have received insight before the crash.

Prophet Roja’s earlier video warning has also resurfaced online. He has since stated that he has a message for former Chief of Staff Julius Debrah regarding the tragedy.

However, Stephen Adom Kyei-Duah, the Leader of the Believers Worship Centre, has fired shots at Prophets who claimed they saw the helicopter crash coming.

Adom Kyei-Duah boldly declared that no more aircraft are going to crash in the country, declaring that the crash on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, would be the last.

Speaking to his congregation, the man of God stated, “If you are a prophet, I destool you. If you are a Christian, this is your last warning: respect your God, respect your God.

“Some of the ministers who died were Muslims. Have you heard what their people are saying? They give glory to Allah over what has happened. They have accepted the course of Allah.”

He added, “Christians must learn to respect themselves and also respect their Lord and Saviour Jesus. Enough is enough; this nonsense must stop.”

Stephen Adom Kyei-Duah urged Ghanaians not to fall for these prophets.

According to him, President John Mahama and his ministers must focus on governing the country and ignore prophecies from certain prophets.

Meanwhile, Presidential Envoy for Interfaith and Ecumenical Relations, Elvis Afriyie Ankrah, has called on all prophets, pastors, men and women of God in the Republic of Ghana to submit any prophecy or spiritual insight of a national nature for urgent review and appropriate escalation.

“No human being deserves to die in this manner” – Ablakwa on Helicopter crash

0

Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, the Minister for Foreign Affairs, has said no human being deserves to die tragically like the eight Ghanaians who died in the August 6 helicopter crash.

According to Ablakwa, he has asked himself where our omnipotent, omnipresent and omniscient God is?

He asserted that humans are told God’s ways are not our ways,  and questioned who will dare convince Ghanains that the Helicopter crash is God’s way?

In a post on X, Ablakwa wrote, “Shattered, devastated, speechless, shaken, traumatised, heartbroken, horrified, depressed, petrified — all these words fail to do justice to our current tribulation.

I ask, where is our omnipotent, omnipresent and omniscient God?

We are told God’s ways are not our ways, but who will dare convince us that this is God’s way?

When we were asked to disregard the forces with power over the body and focus on our creator who has power over the soul, we were never really prepared for this day.

No human being deserves to die in this manner”, he wrote.

Ablakwa added, “Certainly, our 8 martyrs — for all their exploits, kind deeds and good works for our dear country, definitely did not deserve to depart this world in such unspeakable circumstances.

The martyrs of August 6 — Dr. Edward Kofi Omane Boamah, Alhaji Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed, Alhaji Muniru Mohammed, Dr. Samuel Sarpong, Samuel Aboagye, Sqadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala, Flying Officer Mane Twum Ampadu, Sgt. Ernest Addo Mensah — all these noble compatriots have not only come to represent the mystery of life, they now epitomize courageous patriots who will eternally be celebrated locally and internationally”.

Ablakwa also added that he is moved by the overwhelming tributes from world leaders and international organisations of great repute following the tragic incident.

His post on X added, “As Ghana’s Foreign Minister, I have been deeply moved by the overwhelming tributes from world leaders and international organizations of great repute. I am particularly touched by the painstaking efforts by these leaders to personally reach out to President John Mahama and the Foreign Ministry to convey their heartfelt condolences and high regard for our fallen heroes.

Indeed, a man’s worth is not to be measured by mere longevity but by the impact they had”.

The sector minister went on to eulogise Dr. Edward Kofi Omane Boamah, Ghana’s former defence minister.

Ablakwa wrote, “I dedicate this eulogy in honour of the memory of Dr. Edward Kofi Omane Boamah — for our extraordinary relationship is no secret.

When I met Dr. Omane Boamah some 23 years ago, he was already a well respected and deeply admired student activist. His tenure as NUGS President was considered successful and consequential by many, regardless of their ideological persuasion.

In our passionate conversations those days, Dr. Omane Boamah will go on and on about how the legendary Ernesto Che Guevara inspires him.

He was the first to present to me books and manuals on revolution from Che.

Omane Boamah and Che Guevara had a lot in common — the rare phenomenon of medical students who made time for activism, medical doctors who believed revolutions heal better than medicine, frontline activists who sacrificed for a fair and just society until the very end.

And like Dr. Che Guevara, Dr. Omane Boamah died on the frontlines of active service — Che, fighting for political justice; Omane, fighting for environmental justice.

Fortuitously, they were both taken away in their prime — Che at 39, Omane at 49.

Dr. Edward Kofi Omane Boamah was my big brother, comrade, confidante and ever-present political ally.

He was the only person to read my draft NUGS manifesto.  He offered valuable inputs to make it the winning manifesto at that fiercely and closely contested 2005 NUGS presidential election, where I won with a 6-vote margin.

He had served as NUGS President some three years prior to my election. He was an outstanding President.

His famous GETFund agitations as leader of NUGS, which he later chronicled in his first book titled: GETFund: A NUGS President’s account, helped preserve statutory allocations to the GETFund.

He ought to be credited for successfully stopping diversions and under-declarations from the GETFund as NUGS President. By that defining intervention, he contributed greatly in preserving the fund which is today a major source of President Mahama’s visionary educational policies, notably: the No Fees Stress initiative, GHS50million Research Fund and Free Sanitary Pads.

When I won the NUGS presidency, Dr. Omane Boamah became my chief advisor and strategist extraordinaire”.

“Your helicopter prophecy divination and sorcery” – Pastor tackles Prophet Roja

0

A Ghanaian pastor has tackled Samuel Henry, popularly known as Prophet Roja, over his prophecy about the helicopter crash.

According to the Ghanaian pastor, Prophet Roja’s helicopter prophecy is divination and sorcery.

He noted that a prophecy must have a way out, adding that one can stand and make statements and projections, and it will come to pass.

Speaking at a vigil on August 9, 2025, the pastor stated, “He [Roja] is not part of the prophetic and apostolic ministry. He doesn’t understand. Even in life, when you travel, some people will ask about your credentials if they want you to preach to them.

They’ll ask about your level of experience. But it’s only in Ghana that someone will just get up, go on social media, and make these kinds of statements”.

He added, “I don’t believe this is what the Lord revealed. It’s divination. I’m telling you that Roja man should be careful. He’s not mature at all. This is not prophecy. A prophecy must have a way out. This is what we call divination and sorcery. I can stand and make a statement, and I’ll make projections, and it will come to pass”.

His comments come after a viral video emerged of a self-acclaimed man of God, Samuel Henry, also known as Prophet Roja, who predicted the passing of the Defence Minister, Dr Omane Boahmah.

In the viral video, Prophet Roja stated, “Who is the minister for defence right now, Omane Boamah? Wherever he is, he should call me; I have a very deep message for him. So wherever Minister Omane Boamah is, when he sees this video, he should call me”.

“My name is Prophet Roja. When he sees this video, he should call me, and I will not say the message. Anyone close to the minister of defence should show him this video and let him call me”, he added.

In a separate video, Prophet Roja added, “God is speaking to me right now, on the 29th of July, 2025. Please record this. Let all Christians in Ghana pray. This is a conditional prophecy. What I am seeing is that there is going to be a plane crash. I see a plane mid-air, and then it suddenly crashes. When it crashes, the number of survivors is up to 25. It is travelling from Accra to Kumasi”.

“Parliament must set up its own inquiry” – Amin Adam on helicopter crash

0

Dr Mohammed Amin Adam, the Former Finance Minister, has called for Parliament to also set up its own inquiry into the military helicopter crash that claimed eight lives.

According to Amin Adam, the parliament’s inquiry will ensure wider accountability and help learn critical lessons from the tragic incidents.

Speaking on Channel One News, Amin Adam stated, “While the Ghana Armed Forces have launched an investigation, it is crucial that Parliament also sets up its own inquiry.

This will ensure wider accountability and help us learn critical lessons to prevent such accidents from happening again,” he stated.

Amin Adam made these comments during the burial of Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed, Minister for Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation, and Alhaji Limuna Muniru Mohammed, Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator.

However, President John Dramani Mahama has announced that the Ghana Armed Forces has initiated a full-scale investigation into the tragic helicopter crash.

He added, “In this moment of national grief, let us remember that we are, above all, Ghanaians, united not just by nationality but by shared hope, shared humanity and now shared sorrow. Let us set aside our differences and offer our collective compassion to the bereaved families.

President John Mahama further called on Ghanaians to rise above political divisions and unite in this time of national mourning.

According to Mahama, Ghanaians must come together and bid a fitting farewell to the deceased.

John Mahama added, “This is not a time for division, speculation or political point-scoring. It is a time for strength, for empathy and for the enduring Ghanaian spirit that still stands tall when all else fails. Let our words be of comfort, our actions be of kindness, and our unity be the tribute we offer to those whose lives have been lost.

“To the families, to the Ghana Armed Forces, to the Ministries and Departments that have lost dedicated staff and to the National Democratic Congress, which mourns the passing of valued members, may you find strength in their memory and legacy.

Meanwhile, John Mahama has described Dr Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed and Alhaji Limuna Muniru Mohammed as his two brothers.

Speaking at the military cemetery on Saturday, August 10, he stated, “Murtala I mentored from when he was a new MP… he was one of our brightest intellectuals, very eloquent in Parliament, and part of our research agenda.”

“Muniru was like a younger brother. He was a permanent fixture in my house and acted almost like my personal assistant”, he added.

John Mahama added, “May we all be comforted by the knowledge that, though they are gone from our sight, they remain forever in the spirit of the nation they so faithfully served.”

The president also confirmed that the forensic reports for all eight victims have been received.

He added, “Happily, that process was ended yesterday. We received electronically the forensic results for our brothers, Murtala and Alhaji Muniru.

“And that is why we have come to bury ahead. As I speak, the forensic reports for the rest have also arrived. In consultation with the families, we will decide how their funerals will be held.

“But as we said, on August 15, we will hold a state funeral for all of them,” President Mahama said.

“We will seek clarification” – GPCC on national prophecies directive

Apostle Immanuel Tettey, the General Secretary of the Ghana Pentecostal and Charismatic Council (GPCC), has revealed they will seek clarification from the Office of the Presidential Envoy for Interfaith and Ecumenical Relations in regards to the proposed review of prophecies of national significance.

According to the GPCC, they are yet to receive formal communication from the Office of the Presidential Envoy.

The GPCC revealed that they will respond to the directive is officially communicated to them in writing.

Speaking to Citi News on Sunday, August 10, 2025, Apostle Immanuel Tettey stated, “GPCC normally will not have such controversial prophecies in the public domain. We have spoken to our member churches and leaders. If it is written to us, we will seek clarification with the Office and know the way forward”.

The GPCC comment comes on the back of Presidential Envoy for Interfaith and Ecumenical Relations, Elvis Afriyie Ankrah, who has called on all prophets, pastors, men and women of God in the Republic of Ghana to submit any prophecy or spiritual insight of a national nature for urgent review and appropriate escalation.

10 times Ghana experienced aircraft crashes

0

From 1969 to 2025, Ghana has experienced several devastating aircraft crashes, each leaving an indelible mark on the nation’s history.

April 24, 1969: A Douglas C-47A-25-DL, registered as 9G-AAF and operated by Ghana Airways, experienced simultaneous engine failure during its final approach to Takoradi Airport, Ghana. The aircraft, carrying 22 passengers and crew, was on a domestic flight from Accra.

The pilot attempted an emergency landing in a clearing, but the plane crashed approximately 3 kilometers short of the runway threshold. One passenger was killed, and eight others were injured, three seriously.

The cause of the engine failure remains undetermined, with possible factors including fuel exhaustion or contaminated fuel. No official accident report has been publicly released, and investigations at the time were inconclusive.

June 5, 1970: A Ghana Air Force de Havilland Canada DHC-2 Beaver (registration G-301) crashed in dense jungle near Daboasi village in the Western Region of Ghana, during a routine flight from Takoradi to Kumasi. All seven occupants were killed.

Rescue teams, assisted by local villagers, took five days to locate and reach the wreckage due to thick vegetation and the remote terrain, approximately 30 miles from Takoradi. The loss was a significant blow to the Ghana Air Force’s limited fleet. Sparse records from the incident make it difficult to determine the definitive cause of the crash.

November 13, 1978: A Piper PA-31-350 Navajo Chieftain, operated by Air Inter Gabon, crashed shortly after takeoff from Port Gentil, Gabon, killing the pilot and three passengers. The twin-engine aircraft, used for passenger and cargo transport on a charter flight to the Ivory Coast, went down in a wooded area west of Takoradi, near the Ghana-Ivory Coast border, and burst into flames on impact.

The cause of the crash remains uncertain, with possible factors including mechanical failure or pilot error, though no official report has confirmed details. The incident disrupted local operations and prompted an investigation, but limited records hinder further clarity, including the identities of the victims.

June 5, 2000: A Ghana Air Link Fokker F-27 Friendship 600 (Flight GH200), operated for the Ghana Air Force, crashed while landing at Kotoka International Airport, Accra, from Tamale in heavy rain and low visibility. The aircraft, carrying 52 passengers and crew, touched down hard nose-first on Runway 21, causing the fuselage to break in two.

Seven passengers were killed: Ms. Judith Thompson of PRONET, Dr. Marfo of the Centre for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), Ms. Doris Lanz, a Swiss national with the Institute of Linguistics at the University of Ghana, Legon, Dr. Abass Adams, Mr. Paul Rossen, an American, Leading Aircraftman Alberta Ankrah, and Martin Akamfund, a Nigerian.

Several others were seriously injured. Survivors included pilots Wing Commander William Kekrebasi and Flight Lieutenant Seth Owusu. The pilots reported poor visibility and had attempted landings in Lomé, Togo, and Takoradi due to the downpour but were in contact with the control tower. The crash temporarily closed the airport. Defence Minister Lt.-Col. E.K.T. Donkor stated it was too early to determine the cause, pending an investigation.

March 16, 2002: A Ghana Air Force Augusta Bell 412 helicopter crashed in the Atiwa Forest near Segyimase in the Eastern Region, Ghana, killing all seven on board during a medical evacuation mission from Nkawkaw to Accra’s 37 Military Hospital. Departing from Burma Camp at 07:00 GMT, the helicopter was transporting two critically injured individuals—a soldier and a Ministry of Defence civilian—along with a nurse from Holy Family Hospital.

The victims were Wing Commander Benjamin Acheampong (pilot), Flight Lieutenant Seth Lartey (co-pilot), Corporals Emmanuel Akoensi, Joseph Bosomfi, and Frederick Adu-Buxton, and civilians Mr. Debrah George and Mr. Victor Nyarko (nurse). Contact with Accra’s control tower was lost, and the wreckage was found after a three-day search. The cause remains unclear, prompting Defence Minister Dr. Kwame Addo-Kufuor to ground all Air Force helicopters for inspection, with support from the Augusta Bell 412 manufacturers.

On April 4, 2002, the five military personnel were buried at Osu Military Cemetery, their coffins draped in Ghana’s flag. A large crowd, including Vice President Aliu Mahama and a Togolese delegation led by Brigadier General Asani Tidjani, attended. Wreaths were laid by dignitaries, and an Air Force jet flyover honored the fallen. Reverend John Kwamina Otoo praised their sacrifice, highlighting the risks of such missions.

January 12, 2007 A Ghana Air Force Mi-17 helicopter crashed at Adukrom in the Eastern Region of Ghana while transporting the casket of Air Marshall Michael Akuoko Otu, former Chief of Defence Staff, from Burma Camp, Accra, for burial in his hometown.

During a landing attempt at Adukrom Methodist Park, where family, mourners, and dignitaries awaited, the helicopter grazed a church, struck a Tigo communication mast and a tree, and crashed, bursting into flames shortly after. All 13 passengers and 5 crew members escaped unharmed, but Air Marshall Otu’s remains were incinerated in the blaze.

A military pathologist retrieved the ashes, which were interred in a family vault following a burial service on January 13, 2007, at Adukrom Bethel Presbyterian Church. The cause of the crash remains unclear, with harmattan haze as a possible factor.

June 2, 2012: A Boeing 727-200F cargo plane (5N-BJN), operated by Allied Air as flight DHV-3 from Lagos, Nigeria, to Accra, Ghana, crashed during landing at Kotoka International Airport. The aircraft, carrying four crew members, overran Runway 03 in heavy rain and poor visibility, skidded through the airport’s perimeter fence, and collided with a minibus, a bicycle, and a taxi on an adjacent road.

All four crew members survived with minor injuries, but 12 people on the ground were killed: 10 minibus passengers, one cyclist, and one taxi passenger.

The Ghana Aircraft Accident Investigation Board attributed the crash to pilot error, citing a late touchdown 4,000 feet down the 13,000-foot runway, exacerbated by wet conditions and failure to initiate a go-around. The aircraft was written off, and the incident led to calls for improved runway safety measures at Kotoka.

October 6, 2015: A Starbow Airlines BAe 146-300 (flight S9-110, 9G-SBB) from Accra to Tamale overran runway 23 at Tamale International Airport, Ghana, at 08:31 local time, collapsing the nose gear and sustaining irreparable damage.

All 76 passengers and crew disembarked safely with no major injuries. The runway was shortened to 1,860 meters due to construction, and possible factors like rain or winds were noted, though the exact cause was under investigation by the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority. The incident, Starbow’s second major accident in a year, highlighted ongoing safety issues for the airline, which ceased operations in 2017.

March 19, 2024: A Ghana Air Force Harbin Z-9 helicopter crash-landed near Bonsukrom, Ahanta West Municipal District, Western Region, Ghana, during a routine offshore powerline inspection of the Atuabo Gas Plant.

The helicopter, carrying 21 passengers (Ghana National Gas Company staff and aircrew), suffered a suspected tail rotor malfunction, causing it to lose balance and crash into trees about 20 meters from the Bonsukrom road. No fatalities occurred, but three passengers were hospitalized, one transferred to Korle Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra.

The Ghana Armed Forces, led by Brigadier General Eric Aggrey-Quashie, launched an investigation with support from the China National Aero-Technology Import and Export Corporation. Locals disputed the GAF’s “emergency landing” claim, describing it as a crash.

August 6, 2025: A Ghana Air Force Harbin Z-9 helicopter crashed in the Adansi Akrofuom District, Ashanti Region, Ghana, after departing from Kotoka International Airport in Accra at 09:12 AM en route to Obuasi for an event addressing illegal mining (galamsey). The helicopter, carrying three crew members and five passengers, lost radar contact, reportedly struck a tree, and burst into flames in a dense forest near Adansi Brofoyedu. All eight on board perished, with the wreckage found charred beyond recognition.

The victims were: 1. Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, Minister for Defence 2. Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed, Minister for Environment, Science, Technology, and Innovation 3. Alhaji Muniru Mohammed Limuna, Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator 4. Dr. Samuel Sarpong, Vice Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) 5. Samuel Aboagye, former NDC Parliamentary Candidate for Obuasi East 6. Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala, crew member 7. Flying Officer Manaen Twum-Ampadu, crew member 8. Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah, crew member The cause remains under investigation, with the black box recovered to aid inquiries. President John Mahama declared three days of national mourning, ordered flags at half-mast, and announced a state funeral for August 15, 2025, at Black Star Square.

The crash, described as a “national tragedy” by Chief of Staff Julius Debrah, prompted condolences from leaders and organizations, including the UN and African Union.

490 NPP youth organisers, deputies contribute to pick up nomination form for Bawumia

0

Close to 490 youth organisers and deputy youth organisers with the New Patriotic Party (NPP) have contributed to pick up nomination forms for former flagbearer and Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia to contest in 2028.

This is according to David Boakye, Bono East Regional Secretary of the NPP. Mr. Boakye made this disclosure to Oheneba Nana Asiedu on Wontumi FM.

Mr. Boakye said the youth organisers and their deputies across the country approached Samira Bawumia, wife of Dr. Bawumia, right before the recently held National Delegates Conference at the University of Ghana in Accra.

“490 out of the 546 youth organisers and their deputies in Ghana have collectively contributed money to support Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s presidential candidacy for the upcoming election. They met Hajia Samira, Sammi Awuku, Dr. Gideon Boako, and Ekwow Vincent a day before the delegates conference with the proposal,” David Boakye said.

He added that the youth, together with their deputies, have already sent some selected representatives to meet Dr. Bawumia and assure him of their decision, adding that they will pick up the nomination forms for Dr. Bawumia come Wednesday, August 12, 2025.

Meanwhile, a group of 220 former MMDCEs who served under the immediate past Akufo-Addo government, on June 23, 2025, officially declared their endorsement of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia as the party’s presidential candidate for the 2028 general elections.

Dr. Bawumia held an open interaction with the MMDCEs in Accra two months ago as part of his stakeholder consultations. Following the meeting, the former MMDCEs held a press conference to declare their absolute confidence in Dr. Bawumia’s leadership and endorsed his candidature for the 2028 elections.

As the New Patriotic Party (NPP) gears up for its presidential primaries, slated for January 31, 2026, anticipation is building both within the party and across the national political landscape.

The primary will mark a pivotal moment for the NPP as it seeks to elect a flagbearer capable of steering the party into the 2028 general elections, building upon its legacy.

Dr. Bawumia, Kennedy Agyapong, Bryan Acheampong, and Dr. Yaw Adutwum have all declared their intention to contest the flagbearership elections.

“Paul Adom Otchere is a thief, carny, slimy, dirty riffraff” – Kevin Taylor

0

Kevin Taylor, a controversial social media commentator, has described Paul Adom-Otchere, the former Board Chairman of the Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL), as a thief.

According to Kevin Taylor, Paul Adom Otchere is a carny, slimy, dirty riffraff who can lie through his ass.

He fearlessly stressed that Ghanaians should not take Paul Adom Otchere seriously.

Speaking on his show, With All Due Respect, Kevin Talyor stated, “Paul Adom Otchere is a thief. Nobody should take that guy seriously; he is a typical liar. Paul Adom Otchere does not live with his wife. Paul Adom Octhere is a carny, slimy, dirty riffraff who can lie through his ass”.

Kevin Taylor’s comment follows Yvonne Nana Afriyie Opare, the managing director of the Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL), ending the scandalous revenue assurance contract with Evatex Logistics.

Kevin Taylor’s comment follows Yvonne Nana Afriyie Opare, the managing director of the Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL), ending the scandalous revenue assurance contract with Evatex Logistics.

The Office of the Special Prosecutor is all over the GACL contract with Evatex Logistics, investigating the circumstances under which the contract was awarded to the firm.

It will be recalled that Paul Adom Otchere was detained in connection with the OSP’s ongoing investigation into the GACL revenue.

Sammy Darko Appiah, the Director of Strategy, Research and Communication at the Office of the Special Prosecutor, has revealed that Paul Adom-Otchere is a key suspect in the OSP’s ongoing investigation into the GACL revenue.

According to Sammy Darko, the OSP has come across evidence that directly points to certain actions of Adom-Otchere as a board chairman that fall in line with the offences.

Nonetheless, Kevin Taylor further urged President John Dramani Mahama to dismiss the Managing Director of the Ghana Airports Company Limited, Mrs. Yvonne Nana Afriyie Opare.

According to Kevin Taylor, numerous controversies have emerged during her tenure, and she cannot be seen as not part of the crime.

He noted that several scandals unfolded at the airport under her leadership during the Akufo-Addo-led administration, including the COVID-19 testing, Akufo-Addo’s daughter selling shops at the Airport.

Kevin Taylor further raised questions about why John Mahama continues to retain her instead of appointing a more competent individual from the National Democratic Congress (NDC) who sacrificed for the president to regain power.

Speaking on his show With All Due Respect, Kevin Talyor fumed, “This woman at the Ghana Airport Company is causing too much controversy; it has been going much for too long. People are tired of this woman. It has been seven months, it is enough.

Whoever was giving this woman the favours, it is enough that this woman needs to go. This woman needs to be sacked. Mr President, with all due respect, the NDC as a political party and this government, Mr President John Dramani Mahama, it is enough”.

Kevin Taylor asserted that Mrs Yvonne Nana Afriyie Opare is bad news and part of the crimes happening at the Ghana Airport.

He added, “This woman is bad news; she is part of the crime. She did nothing for the NDC to come to power; she is an NPP appointee, in and out she works for Akufo-Addo. We don’t want to have an issue with you, Mr President, with all due respect, sack this woman this week.

Enough of the controversy at the Airport, Abobea had to work, but this woman did everything possible for Abobea to be sacked from the Airport; this Airport does not belong to this woman. When Gyankroma and Akufo-Addo were sharing the airport shops and the COVID-19 scandal, this woman was there.

So, Mr President, you cannot tell me this woman has not been part of the crime from day one; this woman needs to go, or else we are going to demonstrate against your decision you keep this woman at the Airport”.

Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko, a leading member of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), has said the late Dr Omane Boamah’s passing is a loss too huge to measure.

According to Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has lost a most formidable political strategist.

Gabby noted that Dr Omane Boamah had more years ahead of him as the NDC strategist.

He recalled Dr Omane Boamah’s days at the CJA before 2008, steering the 2024 elections.

Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko further noted his instrumental role in the NDC victory in the 2024 elections.

In a post on X on Friday, August 8, 2025, Gabby Otchere-Darko wrote, “With Dr. Omane Boamah’s passing, NDC has lost a most formidable political strategist.

From his CJA days before 2008 to steering the 2024 elections, he was instrumental in NDC fortunes. At his age, he had more active decades ahead as their strategist. A loss too huge to measure”.

Also, Bernard Mornah, the former National Chairman of the People’s National Convention (PNC), has described the late Dr Edward Omane Boamah and Dr Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed as human saints.

According to Bernard Mornah, Dr Edward Omane Boamah and Dr Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed went to their graves untainted by corruption.

Speaking in an interview with JoyNews, Bernard Mornah stated, “These two gentlemen, virtually of my age, I can say that they died without being corrupt”.

Mr Mornah described the deceased as honourable public servants who stood firm in their convictions. “They died, and they would not have taken any dime from anybody for their good rather than the good of humanity. I can attest to their level of commitment to our nation”.

“If there are human saints, I will name Omane Boamah and Murtala that in the field of public service, they can be adjudged as some of the saints that we have had,” he added.

In a separate interview, Bernard Mornah called for an investigation to be carried out to get to the bottom of the helicopter crash on Wednesday, August 6.

He noted that the tragic military helicopter crash could be deliberate or a mistake.

Bernard Mornah added, “It should be investigated; it could be deliberate or a mistake, so let’s get to the bottom of this matter.

For me, some of the things I know, Samson Agyei became the Chief of Army Staff, and I will remember that he would personally take the flight and pilot President Mills. He piloted President Mahama”.

He added, “I also remember on two occasions, Samson Agyei piloted the Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, so you will want to take some of the finest to do these things. If we do not take the finest to lead our leaders across, and we probably took a novice, I don’t know his level of proficiency in piloting, and it happened.

I don’t know why anybody would lose their wife less than one month and then they ask you to go and take a plane, even driving a car will be a traumatic situation to do so, and all these things must be investigated so we can get to the bottom of this”.
