Prices of fuel drop, Petrol selling at GH¢11.59; diesel goes for GH¢12.47

0

Prices of fuel at the pumps have begun to drop following some Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) commencing the reduction in fuel prices from November 1, 2025.

Following the reductions, Petrol is now selling at GH¢11.59, and diesel goes for GH¢12.47.

Star Oil, the leader of the Oil market in Ghana, is selling a litre of petrol at GH¢11.59, down from GH¢12.77. Also, Diesel has dropped from GH¢12.97 per litre on October 20 to GH¢12.47.

Zen Petroleum, another market player, on October 31 also reduced its prices — petrol now sells at GH¢11.97 per litre, while diesel goes for GH¢12.17.

The reduction comes following the Chamber of Oil Marketing Companies (COoMAC), in its latest outlook report, projecting a significant reduction in the price of petroleum products from November 1, 2025.

COoMAC projection details, “Petrol is expected to decline by up to 5.21% per litre, bringing the pump price down to about GH¢12.92 from the previous GH¢13.93 quoted by some oil marketing companies.

Diesel could also fall between 6.03% and 8.13%, resulting in a litre being sold at around GH¢13.10, down from GH¢14.56.

Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) is projected to decrease by up to 6.66%, which will bring the price per kilogram to about GH¢13.60”.

Reports also show it will be the first time in a long while that a petroleum product records a double-digit percentage reduction within a single month.

Some OMCs are expected to start reducing their prices as early as this weekend, November 1, 2025.

However, others may wait to sell existing stock before adjusting prices next week.

The Chamber of Oil Marketing Companies added that the reason for the drop in price is driven by a drop in global crude oil prices and a strong cedi in October.

The expected drop in fuel prices will hinder the driver unions’ plans to increase transport fares.

The drop will also help keep inflation within single digits in the coming months, which will ease the prices of food, goods, and services.

Recall, the Ghana Private Road Transport Union (GPRTU) had revealed plans to increase transport fares if fuel prices fail to remain stable.

According to the Deputy Public Relations Officer of the GPRTU, Samuel Amoah, the rising fuel costs and the spare parts dealers’ refusal to reduce prices have forced the union to consider adjusting transport fares.

Speaking to Eyewitness News, Samuel Amoah stated, “When we were asked to reduce our transport fare by 15%, the fuel price was around 12.59p for diesel, and the petroleum too was around 11.34p”.

“After that, the expectation was that maybe the fuel price was going to remain the way it was, but then we noticed that it kept going up. At the same time, we are also complaining about the cost of spare parts and other components that we use to run our business.”

Immigration officer shot dead, another in critical condition following an ambush

0

One officer of the Ghana Immigration Service has been shot dead, while another is in critical condition following an ambush on November 2, at Nagani in the Tempane District of the Upper East Region.

According to reports, the two officers were returning from night duty on a motorbike when unidentified assailants ambushed them, opening fire on them.

“The attackers laid an ambush and shot at the unsuspecting officers,” a source revealed.

Reports suggest the incident occurred between 10:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m. and is believed to have been carried out by bandits operating within the Bawku area.

The attackers are said to have reportedly seized the service weapons of the officers before fleeing the scene.

The Ghana Immigration Service has not yet released an official statement following the incident.

This attack follows another some months ago, where an  Immigration Officer with the Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) was reportedly killed, and another injured, following an armed attack.

According to reports, the armed attack happened at the Gbintri inland checkpoint in the East Mamprusi Municipality of the North East Region on Friday, October 3, 2025

Reports suggest the armed attack occurred around 1:30 a.m. when some unidentified assailants opened fire on officers stationed at the checkpoint.

The dead immigration officer has been identified as Rafiq Mohammed, an Assistant Immigration Control Officer II (AICOII) who died instantly from a gunshot.

Oppong Daniel, also an AICOII, and his colleague sustained serious injuries to the jaw and back.

He is currently receiving treatment at the Baptist Medical Centre in Nalerigu.

Police investigation recovered AK-47 shell casings at the scene along with a GIS service rifle.

Meanwhile, Superintendent Francis Brobbey, Gambaga Municipal Police Commander, and DIS Moro Tanko Mohammed, North Regional Intelligence Officer of the GIS, were dispatched to the Gbintri inland checkpoint.

An investigation has begun to establish the circumstances of the attack and to track down the criminals.

Some Ghanaians have reacted to the tragic news, saying, “I said it yesterday to someone that the Sahel is booming and we don’t even have a defence minister. Either we start buying weapons to defend our border or we also get attacked in the near future”.

“Care must be taken seriously; the northern part of our country has been chaotic recently. Safety integrity at that part has been compromised, and it’s a cause to worry”, another Ghanaian added.

One more X user wrote, “Any country that becomes unstable starts from the north. We must learn from other African countries before it becomes worse. The north must be heavily guarded, or else some foreign countries will. Take advantage of the situation and make it worse. No potable.drinking water but guns”.

In related fire news, the Kwapong Nursing Training College in the Asunafo South District of the Ahafo Region has been gutted by fire.

Reports suggest that students were seen rushing to safety as part of the Nursing Training College caught fire.

The cause of the fire remains unknown.

According to the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), they received a distress call at 7:12 a.m., with the Kukuom fire crew arriving shortly around 7:30 a.m.

Other firefighters joined later, with the blaze brought under control by 8:45 a.m. and completely quenched at 10:26 a.m.

Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) investigations indicate that the fire began in one of the rooms on the first floor of a one-storey dormitory block before spreading.

The fire destroyed the roof, ceiling, personal belongings, books, beds, and bedding, with two fire extinguishers exploding.

Meanwhile, no casualties were recorded in the Kwapong Nursing Training College fire.

Also, China City Mall, located at Santasi and opened just six months ago and was consumed by the blaze on Thursday afternoon, with the fire quickly spreading through the mall, with thick smoke visible from a distance.

The Ghana National Fire Service worked to control the blaze, but the mall, which contained shops selling groceries, electronics, and home items, was completely lost, with millions of dollars of goods being destroyed following the devastating fire.

An eyewitness recounted, “I was returning from class when I saw smoke coming from the back of the mall. We rushed to the scene and called the firefighters, who said they were on their way”.

Regional Fire Commander ACFO Peter Tettey at the scene explained, “We can’t enter because the building may collapse soon. They were on break when the fire started. Highly combustible items and the building’s own flammable materials caused the fire to spread quickly”.

“How can you fight Mahama and the nation?” – Eric Adjei slams NDC MP for leading mob attack on NAIMOS

0

Eric Adjei Esq, the Chief Executive Officer for the National Entrepreneurship & Innovation Programme (NEIP), has slammed Ebenezer Kwaku Addo, the Member of Parliament for the Asutifi North Constituency.

The NDC man quizzed the Member of Parliament for the Asutifi North on how he could fight President John Mahama and the entire nation.

Eric Adjei Esq described Ebenezer Kwaku Addo’s actions as unparliamentary and an embarrassment to everyone associated with the NDC.

In a post on social media, he wrote, “Your actions are unparliamentary, and it is a shame for you as a member of Parliament.

How can you fight against what the President and the entire nation are seeking? You have truly embarrassed everyone”.

His comments follow, reports that two sitting National Democratic Congress(NDC) Members of Parliament have been fingered in a mob attack against NAIMOS officials in the Ahafo Region.

The MPs fingered in the mob attack are Member of Parliament (MP) for Asutifi North, Hon. Ebenezer Kwaku Addo and Alhaji Collins Dauda, the Member of Parliament for Asutifi South.

On Saturday, November 1, 2025, the National Anti-Illegal Mining Operations Secretariat (NAIMOS )’s crackdown on illegal mining in the Ahafo Region turned violent when officials narrowly escaped death in a mob attack.

NAIMOS officials were attacked by an angry mob in Hwediem in the Ahafo Region.

In a viral video on social media, armed police officers were spotted mounting a guard to protect the military officers amid the huge and agitated crowd.

Five of the officers were escorted into a packed 4×4 vehicle, which had reportedly been vandalised by the angry galamseyers.

The information gathered suggests the mob attack followed the soldiers’ discovery of an illegal mining site at Bronikrom near Hwidiem, where they stormed the location, arresting the site owner, confiscating two vehicles, mobile phones and two pistols and setting fire to some wooden structures and mining equipment belonging to the owner.

NAIMOS’s raid reportedly provoked some residents numbering over 600 who stormed the Hwidiem Police Station, where the soldiers had gone to lodge an official complaint.

The crowd demanded the instant release of the two seized vehicles and insisted that the police hand over the soldiers for discipline.

Joy News, Journalist Erastus Asare Donkor has revealed that Member of Parliament for Asutifi North, Hon. Ebenezer Kwaku Addo, was at the scene with several thugs.

According to the MP for Asutifi North, he was directed by Hon Collins Dauda, the MP for the area, who demanded that the Director release the arrested galamsey kingpins, including a Burkinabe.

The director, however, politely declined the unlawful request.

He asserted that the arrests were appropriate and that the right procedure was followed through to the Police.

After the rejection of the MP’s demand, the MP and his thugs became violent and forcefully snatched the handcuff keys from one of the soldiers.

He took the handcuffs off the kingpins before chasing the NAIMOS team while going to the police station.

Also, Paa Kwesi Schandorf, NAIMOS spokesperson, described the situation as extremely and profoundly disappointing.

He noted that the team was carrying out a lawful enforcement exercise.

According to Paa Kwesi Schandorf, NAIMOS Director of Operations, he narrowly escaped harm.

“It was a huge surprise that the locals became agitated, demanding the release of those arrested, and then began attacking the NAIMOS team,” Schandorf said in an interview with TV3.

“He indicated that he survived clearly by the mercy of God. If you look at how they were charged, the rest of the team could have lost their lives,” he said.

“Apparently, there are kingpins who are sponsoring this, and investigations have started. In due time, we will identify those who facilitated this risky and fatal development,” he said.

Mahama spends GH¢20,000 monthly on each constituency to service NDC – Gbande

0

Mustapha Gbande, the presidential Staffer and Deputy Director of Operations at the Presidency, has said President John Mahama gives each constituency GH¢20,000 monthly to service the party.

The NDC deputy General Secretary highlighted that the move is to reinforce the NDC’s grassroots structures and ensure that executives at all levels are resourced.

Speaking to a gathering to follow NDC members, Mustapha Gbande disclosed, “For the first time, regional secretaries and field chairmen assumed the responsibility of regional ministers. If you go to the regions, about eight or nine executives of every region have been appointed to the government.

And if you go to the constituencies, about eight to ten executives of every single constituency have been appointed into some office of government at some level,” he revealed.

Gbande added, “Today, as we speak, twenty thousand cedis go to a constituency every month to service the party. And it comes straight from the President”.

“As we speak, if you look at the form and shape of governance that has been formed, Ghana has never had the kind of government we have today. The support we got was so diverse that it didn’t just come from NDC people, so you realise that at some point he appointed some strangers into our mix,” he added.

In related news, Mustapha Gbande has told NDC members to kill the conversation surrounding who succeeds President John Mahama.

According to Mustapha Gbande, he is determined that President Mahama must succeed.

He emphasised that if the National Democratic Congress fail Ghanaians, they can bring Jesus Christ as a presidential candidate, they will still go to the opposition.

Speaking on JoyNews’ News Desk, Gbande stated, “I am determined that President Mahama must succeed, and that is my focus in the meantime,” he stated.

“That is also the focus of the larger and majority of individuals in our party. We cannot fail the masses, we cannot fail you, we cannot fail the people of Ghana. So let us kill this conversation for now. That discussion is one for when the time is right.”

“We just came to power, and we are yet to give a full account of our one-year term,” Gbande said.

The NDC Deputy General Secretary added, “In the proper context of political transitions, there has never been a time when any government has, within nine months, been met with the kind of expectations we now face”.

“Our trump card will be our performance. If we fail, we can go and bring Jesus Christ to come and lead the party; we will still go to the opposition,” he warned.

Gbande also took a swipe at the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), saying, “The only luck we have is that the alternative is not something anyone would want to venture into. Currently, they are enemies of the state and very disorganised”.

“We are happy that these polls are coming, no two ways about it, but I am saying that this is not the time to engage in that conversation”, he added.

Revealed – Ken Ofori-Atta snubbed Bawumia’s directive to analyse GRA-SML deal

0

Senyo Hosi, the former CEO of the Chamber of Bulk Oil Distributors, has revealed how former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta snubbed Dr Mahamudu Bawumia’s advice to analyse contracts awarded to Strategic Mobilisation Ghana Limited (SML).

He recounted that when the contract was awarded, Dr Bawumia, the chair of the Economic Management Team (EMT), instructed that Senyo Hosi and his team analyse the contract to ensure all loopholes were addressed.

Senyo Hosi highlighted that Ofori-Atta, who did not attend the meeting due to illness, later cancelled Dr Bawumia’s directive.

Speaking on Channel One TV on November 1, 2025, Senyo Hosi detailed, “DMB had directed that we be engaged, and Ammishaddai should contract us to do the work. We were even going to deploy technology to automate the analysis so we wouldn’t need anyone to manually review the data. Then suddenly, Evans Adusei and others appeared. It started with Ken Ofori-Atta”.

Hosi added, “He was sick at the time, so he wasn’t at the EMT meeting. DMB had directed that this be done to resolve the issue immediately. Ken Ofori-Atta sent a message to my partner asking what Senyo and I wanted to do. Then, out of nowhere, there was a new directive. DMB had instructed something, and Ken Ofori-Atta cancelled it without even consulting the EMT. Now Ammishaddai is stranded”.

“Now Ammishaddai has to do the analysis. That’s when all the data came in. You remember your guy in IT, he was commissioned to analyse the situation. But no comparative analysis was done. The data wasn’t used for anything. And you didn’t need any system for it. They never used the system for the analysis. They never interpreted the existing data. Yet, the government was paying them GH¢24 million,” he explained.

Ammishaddai knows that that contract was unholy; he knows that that contract was technically loot. These people knew, but they walked around as church elders. This country, we are wicked people, this was absolutely loot.

His comments come on the back of President John Dramani Mahama’s cancellation of the Strategic Mobilisation Ghana Limited (SML) under the Akufo-Addo administration.

On Friday, October 31, 2025, President John Dramani Mahama directed the Minister of Finance, Dr Cassiel Ato Forson, to terminate all existing contracts between the Government and Strategic Mobilisation Ghana Limited (SML).

This follows the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) concluding its probe into the dubious contracts awarded to Strategic Mobilisation Ghana Limited (SML).

Dr Callistus Mahama, in a letter, instructed the Finance Minister to take immediate steps to end all contractual arrangements involving SML, the revenue assurance company.

Manasseh Azure Awuni, reacting to the Mahama government’s termination of the SML deal, highlighted that the cancellation saves the country over $500 million.

In a post on X, he wrote, “Over $500 Million or GHS5 Billion + has been saved from the cancellation of SML’s dubious contracts. One day at a time.”

Furthermore, Manasseh Azure Awuni has said it takes extreme wickedness for the former finance minister, Ken Ofori-Atta, to sign contracts like Strategic Mobilisation Limited (SML).

According to Manasseh, it takes extreme wickedness against one’s nation and its people to sign contracts like SML.

He detailed that the former finance minister, Ken Ofori-Atta, masterminded the dubious contract.

In a post on X, Manasseh Azure Awuni detailed, “This man masterminded a dubious contract that said that SML should have a fixed percentage of revenue from:

1. Every litre of petroleum product you buy anywhere in Ghana.

2. Every barrel of oil Ghana produces.

3. Every ounce of gold Ghana produces.

4. Additional revenue from imported goods at the ports and harbours of Ghana”.

He added, “But for our investigation that ensured that the 2023 consolidated contract did not take off, SML would have been entitled to over 500 MILLION UNITED STATES DOLLARS for the first five years. The contract was renewable for another five years.

“Ladies and Gentlemen, it is not for nothing that Kwesi Pratt Jnr said SML was the “mother of all scandals” in the scandal-ridden Akufo-Addo administration”, his post concluded.

“Your demeanour at PAC not bravery; it is hypocrisy cloaked in authority” – A Plus fires Abena Osei-Asare

0

Kwame Asare Obeng, popularly known as Kwame A Plus, the member of Parliament for Gomoa Central, has fired shots at the Chairperson of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC), Abena Osei-Asare.

According to Kwame A-Plus, what ethical framework allows Abena Osei-Asare, who served as Deputy Minister of Finance under the previous administration, to challenge others on accountability?

In a long post on Facebook, Kwame A-Plus wrote, “The Public Accounts Committee of Parliament is currently led by a former deputy of Ken Ofori-Atta, Abena Osei Asare, who at one point was in charge of revenue. Let me go straight to the point: it lacks both credibility and moral authority for Abena Osei Asare to question anyone in this country. It doesn’t take a law to realise this. It takes the fear of God.

How can any serious nation permit this individual to question appointees of President John Dramani Mahama, who have been in office for less than a year, when she and her superior spent nearly a decade deliberately driving this country toward chaos?”

The Gomoa Central further highlighted that Abena Osei Asare was part of the financial infractions of the Akufo-Addo government.

He added, “This same woman, not too long ago, was seen on live television passionately defending the then Commissioner-General of the Ghana Revenue Authority, Rev. Ammishaddai Owusu-Amoah, for refusing to disclose his age.

Under the regime she served, Ghana has been engulfed in numerous contentious contracts that are now being scrutinised by the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP):

Take the Strategic Mobilization Limited (SML) Contract — a multi-billion cedi agreement established between the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) and SML during Ken Ofori-Atta’s time in office. The OSP is currently investigating the validity of this contract and its financial implications for the nation.

Then there is the ECG–Beijing Jao Loss Reduction Contract, which involved the Electricity Company of Ghana and Beijing Jao, purportedly aimed at minimising system losses. Investigators are now assessing whether proper procedures were followed and if the nation faced undue losses.

Additionally, consider the Health Ministry’s Ambulance Deal with Service Ghana Auto Limited — a contract for ambulance procurement that is undergoing investigation for potential violations of procurement regulations and mismanagement of public resources.

These are not mere whispers; these are active investigations into the very administration where Abena Osei Asare played a significant role. Thus, what ethical framework allows her to challenge others on accountability?”.

A Plus further quizzed, “How can a woman who served as deputy to a man involved in the most dubious “holy project” in our history, a National Cathedral that not only drained the state’s coffers but practically scammed our heavenly Father, now presume to judge others?

The deputy of a man who “built” a temple without walls, “accounted” for faith without receipts, served God Almighty with a “tsobo” budget, now sitting in Parliament, questioning appointees about accountability. Anokwa!”.

According to A Plus, Abena Osei Asare was not just an observer but an integral part of an administration that oversaw economic decline.

“Abena Osei Asare was not merely an observer—she was an integral part of an administration that oversaw economic decline, reckless borrowing for personal gain, and the gross mismanagement that brought hardships to countless Ghanaians. Yet here she stands today, brazenly questioning appointees who are still finding their footing.

Her demeanour at Committee hearings is not bravery; it is hypocrisy cloaked in authority. It undermines the struggles of every Ghanaian striving to navigate the consequences of her catastrophic leadership.

Her position in that committee, interrogating state officials live on television, transcends irony—it is a national disgrace. By this point, she should be facing the inquiries by the committee herself, rather than posing them”, he added.

“I’m in politics to serve, not to enrich myself” – Dr Bawumia

0

Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, a former Vice President and New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer hopeful, has said he is in politics to serve the people of Ghana and not to enrich himself.

According to Dr Bawumia, his political motivation for entering politics is rooted in service to the nation.

Dr Bawumia detailed that if he were in power to enrich himself, he would not have cancelled the Mobile Money Interoperability project, which the NDC had proposed a contract worth $1.2 billion.

He revealed that the entire project was completed for just $4.5 million and could have pocketed the rest to enrich himself.

He highlighted that his greatest joy comes from seeing how his projects are transforming the lives of Ghanaians.

Speaking to delegates during his campaign tour of Amenfi West in the Western Region, Dr Bawumia stated, “I entered politics to serve the people, not to enrich myself. When we initiated the Mobile Money Interoperability project, the NDC had proposed a contract worth $1.2 billion.

We cancelled that deal and completed the entire project for just $4.5 million, not even up to $5 million. This initiative has greatly benefited Ghanaians and created thousands of jobs,” he said.

He added, My greatest joy comes from seeing how these projects are transforming lives, not from personal gain. I am not in politics for money; I am here to make a difference in the lives of ordinary Ghanaians,” he added.

In related news, three individuals from the campaign of Bryan Acheampong, one of the flagbearer aspirants for the upcoming NPP primaries, have launched a verbal attack on Dr Bawumia over what they described as a measly GHC50 given to them as a transportation fee.

The 3 who hail from Abetifi, Bryan’s constituency, openly declared their allegiance to him in a viral video while expressing unwarranted anger at the campaign team of Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.

According to them, they spent more than 90 cedis on their transport to attend the campaign event, but were only given 50 cedis.

They claimed that some NPP delegates in other areas received GHC 100, calling it a sign of disrespect.

The delegates are now rallying behind Hon. Bryan Acheampong, urging all Abetifi delegates to vote massively for him in the upcoming NPP presidential primaries.

Speaking in a viral video, the NPP delegates stated, “ We rushed to Kwahu Tafo because they told us that Bawumia should come. When we got there, they gave us 50 cedis. When we said 50 cedis would not be enough for our transportation, they said Dr Bryan Acheampon had spoiled us with money.

When there is money and a person, we will choose the money and leave the person. We took the car in and out, and you gave us 50 cedis”.

They further added, “We are not fools to vote for someone who does not have respect for people. Opare Ansah gave the Suhum people 100 cedis, and they gave the Abetifi constituency 50 cedis. They have insulted us.

I am standing on this 50 cedis, if the Abetifi do not vote for Dr Bryan Acheampong, I will curse all of you”.  Another suggested they will burn the town.

Felix Kwakye Ofosu, Member of Parliament for Abura-Asebu-Kwamankese and Minister for Government Communications, stated, “NAIMOS continues to strike at the heart of illegal mining. This time, they flushed out illegal miners at Bronikrom-Hwediem, in the Ahafo Region.

They arrested Galamsey operators, including a Burkinabe, at a Galamsey site about 10 meters from the main HWEDIEM – GOASO Highway.

Meanwhile, the Bureau of Public Safety (BPS) has called for the immediate arrest and investigation of Ebenezer Kwaku Addo member of parliament for Asutifi North.

EOCO clarifies probe into Kevin Okyere, remains tight-lipped on alleged arrest in Dubai

0

The Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) has clarified the probe into Mr Kevin Okyere, Chief Executive Officer and promoter of Springfield Energy.

EOCO, in its statement, clarified that the claim made by the news portal Norvanreport.com that Kevin Okyere was arrested because EOCO failed to act on a petition is false.

According to EOCO, there are two active investigations involving  Mr Kevin Okyere, the promoter of Springfield Energy.

On Sunday, November 2, 2025, EOCO, in a statement read, “The Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) has taken notice of a publication by online news portal “Novareport” alleging that one Kevin Okyere, CEO and promoter of Springfield Energy, has been arrested and or detained in Dubai following what the news portal claims is EOCO’s failure to act on a petition alleging defrauding by false pretense.

Contrary to the claims made by Novareport, EOCO has two active investigations involving Springfield Energy. The first is a petition against Springfield Energy, and the second is an explosive case between BOST and Springfield Energy. It is the policy directive of the leadership of EOCO that investigations must precede arrest and not the reverse”.

They added, “We wish to emphasise that the case involving BOST and Springfield is of priority to EOCO due to its immediate impact on BOST’s finances and the local economy.

Though EOCO does not comment on active investigations, it is regrettable that Novareport did not seek clarification from EOCO before running the false story.

EOCO assures the public that it is committed to investigating and prosecuting economic and organised crimes in Ghana. And we will continue to work diligently to achieve our mandate.

We urge the public to disregard the false claims made by Novareport and to note that EOCO is actively working on not one, but two investigations involving Springfield Energy”.

EOCO statement comes following reports, Kevin Okyere has been arrested and detained in Dubai, over an alleged $90million fraud.

Reports suggest Kevin Okyere was arrested on November 1, 2025, on arrival in Dubai for a business meeting.

Mr Okyere arrest is in connection to what is described as a “systematic and orchestrated economic crime” involving nearly US$93 million allegedly perpetrated by Springfield Exploration & Production Limited and GMP Energy Limited, both Ghanaian oil companies, along with their senior executives.

In June 2025, the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) and the Criminal Investigation Department of the Ghana Police here received a petition Swiss energy trader, Petraco investigate and prosecute Mr Kevin Okyere.

According to the petition, dated 16 May 2025 and signed by Alberto G. Salsiccia, Chief Financial Officer of Petraco Oil Company SA, Springfield, GMP Energy, and their key officers, Kevin Okyere, Geena Malkani Punjabi, and Emmanuel Ansah Bernasko are conducting a sophisticated fraud scheme through “calculated deception and abuse of business relationships” in Ghana’s petroleum sector.

The petition stated that Kevin Okyere-led Springfield and GMP together with it collaborators committed a petroleum products fraud totalling over US$30 million, and a unitisation loan fraud amounting to at least US$63 million.

“We will hit the streets if” – Unemployed teacher trainees threaten ahead of 2026 budget

0

The Unemployed teacher trainees of the 2023 batch of Colleges of Education are threatening to hit the streets by November 10.

According to them, they will hit the streets to protest if the government fails to give a definite timeline for their recruitment into the Ghana Education Service (GES).

The Graduates from the 2023 batch of Colleges of Education revealed they have completed their national service and passed the Ghana Teacher Licensure Examination.

They asserted that they have been waiting for nearly two years now without a posting from the government despite petitioning the Finance Ministry, Education Ministry and the GES countless times.

Vice President of the Concerned Unemployed Teacher Trainees, Eshun De-Graft Brown, speaking on Channel One, stated, “We were even asking for a clear timeline for our recruitment, but since we’ve not heard anything, I am told on Monday the Public Accounts Committee will be meeting the Minister of Education.

We want to know when clearance will be given to us,” he said on the Channel One Newsroom on Sunday, November 2.

“By roughly the 10th of November, we are planning to hit the streets if we do not hear any clear timeline from either GES, the Ministry of Education, or the Ministry of Finance,” he warned.

However, Haruna Iddrisu, the Minister of Education, has announced that the Cabinet has approved the absorption of 6,200 teachers working for over eight months without pay.

According to Haruna Iddrisu, the decision comes following the affected teachers who petitioned his ministry over their pay.

Speaking at a press briefing at the Ministry, Haruna Iddrisu stated, “A few weeks ago, myself and the Chief Director received a petition from some teachers who were unhappy with the government over their unending work for a number of months without their pay,” he said. “I’m happy to announce that the Cabinet has given approval for the 6,200 teachers to be absorbed. We’ll begin the process in due course.”

He further disclosed that the Ministry of Finance has been authorised to allocate about GH¢1.1 billion to cover payments for both health workers and teachers.

“Cabinet gave the Minister of Finance approval to vire about GH¢1.1 billion to absorb a category of health workers and teachers. The process will start soon, so there’s no need for further picketing.”

Meanwhile, the Finance Ministry had organised a two-day stakeholder consultation as part of preparations for the 2026 Annual Budget.

The consultations brought together representatives from “Banking and Non-Banking Financial Institutions, Think Tanks, Professional Bodies, Trade Organisations, Social Partners, and other organised groups. Also in attendance were Civil Society Organisations (CSOs), Faith-Based Organisations (FBOs), Academia, and various Associations”.

Speaking at the event, the Deputy Minister for Finance, Mr Thomas Nyarko Ampem, stated, “Today’s engagement provides an avenue for Government to listen to your perspectives, your proposals, and your expectations as we shape the 2026 Budget. The insights gathered from stakeholders such as yourselves will guide us to design policies that promote growth, equity, and resilience”.

“The recent successful staff-level agreement with the IMF under the Extended Credit Facility, and the credit rating upgrade by Moody’s, reaffirm international confidence in Ghana’s economic direction” he said.

Kevin Okyere arrested in Dubai over alleged $90m oil fraud

0

Chief Executive officer of Springfield, Kevin Okyere has been arrested and detained in the United Emirate Arab’s capital Dubai over an alleged $90million fraud.

This portal has learnt that Kevin Okyere was arrested on November 1, 2025 on arrival arrival in Dubai for business meeting.

In June 2025, the Economic and Organized Crime Office (EOCO) and the Criminal Investigation Department of the Ghana Police here received a petition Swiss energy trader, Petraco investigate and prosecute Mr Kevin Okyere.

Accroding to the petition, dated 16 May 2025 and signed by Alberto G. Salsiccia, Chief Financial Officer of Petraco Oil Company SA, Springfield, GMP Energy, and their key officers Kevin Okyere, Geena Malkani Punjabi, and Emmanuel Ansah Bernasko are conducting a sophisticated fraud scheme through “calculated deception and abuse of business relationships” in Ghana’s petroleum sector.

The petition stated that Kevin Okyere-led Springfield and GMP together with it collaborators committed a petroleum products fraud totalling over US$30 million, and a unitisation loan fraud amounting to at least US$63 million.

claims that GMP Energy Limited fraudulently retained over 35,000 metric tonnes of gasoline (worth US$29.3 million), which was supplied under a contract with EDURC Company DMCC and subsequently assigned to Petraco.

Despite receiving full payment from the state-owned Bulk Oil Storage and Transportation Company (BOST), GMP executives are alleged to have deliberately concealed the receipt of the funds and falsely claimed non-payment.

“Geena Malkani and Kevin Okyere also admitted to wrongfully retaining the funds during a face-to-face meeting with us in Accra on 3 February 2025,” Mr Salsiccia wrote.

“Despite receiving full payment from BOST, Geena Malkani, Kevin Okyere, and Emmanuel Ansah Bernasko have: deliberately concealed the receipt of this payment from us; made systematic false representations about non-payment coordinated with certain officials at BOST to corroborate these false claims; and diverted the proceeds for their personal benefit and other business operations.”

According to Petraco, the second scheme centres on a US$50 million loan extended to Springfield Exploration & Production Limited under a Facility Agreement signed in February 2023. The money was purportedly intended to finance a pending unitisation project involving Eni Ghana a project Petraco now asserts was never realistically viable.

“Our due diligence was based on misrepresentations by Springfield and its executives, particularly Kevin Okyere,” said Mr Salsiccia. “They claimed the unitisation was imminent, had full government approvals, and guaranteed returns, none of which was true.”

He added, “The perpetrators have leveraged their business connections to evade accountability. These actions constitute organised economic crime and are of serious international consequence.”

The petition outlines the following allegations concerning the loan arrangement: “The second scheme involves the fraudulent obtaining of loans totalling US$50 million through the following deception:

“Kevin Okyere approached our company seeking a loan to facilitate a purported unitisation project with Eni Ghana Exploration & Production Limited, representing that the unitisation of Eni’s Sankofa Gye Nyame (SGN) Field and Springfield’s West Cape Three Points (WCTP) Afina discovery was imminent and certain.

“Springfield Exploration & Production Limited claimed it had secured all necessary approvals from the Petroleum Commission and government. The project was said to guarantee returns, with repayment to be made from crude oil proceeds.

“Based on these representations, our company agreed under a Facility Agreement dated 7 February 2023 to make available up to US$100 million to Springfield, to be drawn in two tranches of US$50 million.

“Springfield drew down the first tranche of US$50 million in two disbursements of US$25 million each, under utilisation requests signed by Kevin Okyere on 7 and 27 February 2023.

“Springfield represented that it would repay the US$50 million if unitisation did not occur within 18 months of the first utilisation date, that is, by 7 August 2024.”

“premeditated and methodically executed”, involving “multiple corporate entities across different sectors” and sustained over an extended period. He accused the perpetrators of obstructing justice by failing to cooperate with CID investigations and leveraging high-level connections to delay accountability.

“These actions constitute serious offences under various Ghanaian laws,” he noted, referencing the Economic and Organised Crime Office Act, the Criminal and Other Offences Act — including defrauding by false pretences, conspiracy to defraud, and criminal breach of trust — and the Anti-Money Laundering Act.

Petraco insists that:

“The existence of civil proceedings does not preclude criminal liability. The facts reveal criminal intent beyond mere contractual disputes. The systematic deception and the organised nature of the schemes elevate them to criminal conduct. Public interest demands criminal investigation alongside civil remedies.”

The petition warns of reputational risks to Ghana’s investment climate, suggesting that similar schemes may have targeted other foreign companies.

How does Akufo-Addo feel knowing all this loot happened under his watch? – KSM quizzes

0

Kwaku Sintim-Misa (KSM), a Ghanaian satirist and anti-corruption advocate, has quizzed former president Akufo-Addo on how he feels knowing all the loot happened under his watch.

According to KSM, there is a culture of indifference among some members of NPP, despite reports of corruption against former appointees of the Akufo-Addo administration.

KSM described former Akufo-Addo’s eight-year term as “eight years of barbaric loot”.

Speaking on his KSM show, Kwaku Sintim-Misa stated, “What does he go through knowing that all this painful loot happened under his watch?”

“They all say it was COVID, but that’s just an excuse. The NPP got more aid during that period than ever before, and yet we saw massive financial leakages”, he criticised.

He alluded that if the NPP had broken the eight, “it would have been a continuity of loot”.

In related news, Ghanaian business mogul Sir Sam Jonah has said there is a refreshing wind of change going through Ghana.

According to Sir Sam Jonah, President John Dramani Mahama took an important step with ORAL to deal with corrupt officials under the former government and hopes the government will see it through.

Sir Sam Jonah noted that ORAL would help ensure transparency and accountability in public office and hoped the foolishness and the culture of impunity would not continue under the Mahama administration.

Speaking in a recent interview on Starr FM, Sam Jonah stated, “The signs are good. There is a refreshing wind of change that is going through the country. An important first step was the ORAL. One hopes that they would have the courage to see it through.

“It is an inconvenient truth to say that ORAL should not be pursued because there must be accountability, there must be transparency,” he said.

Sam Jonah added, “So, to the extent that he has publicly made that one of his commitments to ensuring that there is accountability — not just with the previous government but even with his government. We hope that important lessons have been learnt, that some of the foolishness that we saw would not continue, that the culture of impunity would not continue.”

Meanwhile, Kobina Tahir Hammond, the former Member of Parliament for Adansi Asokwa, has confidently warned that no one should brand the New Patriotic Party (NPP) as a corrupt party.

He cautioned against labelling the NPP as a corrupt political organisation.

KT Hammond argued that corruption allegations against some members should not be used to tarnish the image of the entire party.

According to KT Hammond, the NPP has not been implicated in any corruption case as a political party.

Speaking in an interview with Kwesi Parker-Wilson of Oyerepa TV, KT Hammond stated, “No one should brand NPP as a corrupt party. It is not the party that is corrupt; it is certain individuals who have been accused of corruption”.

“Every family has a bad nut, but that does not mean the family is bad,” he explained.

Kobina Tahir Hammond further added, “Names were mentioned, and we have different characters. No one has sued NPP. The NPP as a political party has not been to court; it is individuals within the party that have been called out”.

“The heart and mind cannot be known by the president to tell whether the person is corrupt or not until they are given appointments,” he added.

“I will be more than Alan, I swear to God” – Ken Agyapong warns NPP

0

Kennedy Agyapong, a New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer, has warned the party ahead of the January 31 presidential primaries.

The former Assin Central lawmaker confidently stated that nobody can threaten anyone in the party.

According to him, if the NPP likes, they should repeat the mistake that happened on August 26 and warned that he will be more than Alan Kyerematen.

Speaking on his campaign platform, Kennedy Agyapong boldly stated, “Nobody can threaten anybody; if they like, they should make a mistake and repeat what happened on August 26, I will be more than Alan, I swear to God”.

Meanwhile, the former Member of Parliament for Adansi Asokwa, K.T. Hammond, has issued a warning to all presidential aspirants in the New Patriotic Party (NPP) race.

K. T Hammond warned the presidential aspirants to refrain from attempting to leave the party after losing the primaries on January 31, 2026.

According to him, none of the aspirants will be allowed to use the party and subsequently break away after losing the primaries, like Alan Kyerematen.

He emphasised that it will not be easy for any aspirants who decide to leave the party after the primaries.

Speaking in an exclusive interview, K.T. Hammond stated, “ The leadership, particularly those out there aspiring to become presidential candidates, know how to go about it, watch how you talk, let us choose a candidate, after electing a candidate.

Those of you involved in the primaries, no one dares say he did not win the primaries, so he is leaving the party, like the way we will handle that person in this country”, he warned.

He further added, “Look at what Alan did; he will never come back to the NPP. If you like, try and let’s see if you think we are joking. We are not going to destroy the party. No one will be allowed to use the party and subsequently break away after losing the primaries”.

Meanwhile, all five aspirants in the New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential race have pledged their commitment to former President Akufo-Addo not to abandon the party if they lose the primaries.

According to the five aspirants, they will rally behind any eventual winner in the 2026 NPP presidential primaries.

A statement from the former President’s office said, “In a significant show of solidarity, each of the five aspirants gave their personal assurance, and that of their campaign teams, to maintain a healthy but competitive campaign atmosphere.

Furthermore, they expressed their commitment and that of their supporters, to rally behind the eventual winner and uphold the unity of the party after the primaries”.

“Ken Ofori-Atta may be signing contracts to sell off his assets” – Kpebu blows alarm

0

Private Legal Practitioner, Martin Kpebu, has blown an alarm on the Office of the Special Prosecutor’s (OSP) poor handling of the former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta’s case.

Lawyer Kpebu highlighted that Ken Ofori-Atta may be signing contracts to sell off his assets, including Databank, since he has no intention of returning to Ghana.

According to Lawyer Kpebu, the OSP had the SML case for more than a year, but sat on its hands doing nothing.

Speaking on TV3’s Key Point, Lawyer Kpebu stated, “The key thing we have to watch is that right now, we’ve not been able to freeze Mr Ofori-Atta’s assets, as we are talking about right now, it’s even possible that he is signing agreements to sell their shares in Data Bank, his share in Enterprise Insurance.

There are many assets he has. That is where our target should be. So we need this case to enter court quickly. And just before we enter, the law allows OSP to freeze their assets and then, after about two weeks, go back into court and get a longer duration for freezing their asset”.

He added, “So this is very key, very, very key. That’s why I’ve been saying that Kissi Agyebeng has been very incompetent in this Ofori Atta case. You know the man has many man-assets in Ghana. Manasseh did this work for one year, from December 2022 to December 2023.

When Manasseh presented a petition to the OSP, Manasseh and then Aziamu Mensah and Adobea, the other lady, three journalists. So this petition against Ofori-Atta and co was presented in December 2023. By December 2024, OSP had had these petitions for one year. One year, an OSP sat on his hands, pussyfooting Kukwasa. So much so that now we believe this is criminal negligence”.

Meanwhile, Kissi Agyebeng, the Special Prosecutor, has provided an update on the extradition of former finance minister Ken Ofori-Atta.

According to Kissi Agyebeng, even if Ken Ofori-Atta has US citizenship, it will not stop his extradition.

He highlighted that the US citizenship status doesn’t prevent extradition.

Kissi Agyebeng added that the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) is working closely with the Office of the Attorney General to complete the extradition procedures.

Addressing the media during a press conference on Thursday, October 30, 2025, the Special Prosecutor explained, “It’s unfortunate that there’s been talk about dockets and we’ve refused to give the docket and all. That is beside the point; that is not the issue at all”.

“The issue is that you need to get it right the first time; you don’t keep going back and forth.”

“US citizenship status doesn’t prevent extradition. We will not give up; we will still move on with the processes and ensure that Ghanaians become less restive and appreciate the work we’re doing with the Attorney General,” Kissi Agyebeng noted.

Also, Kissi Agyebeng has revealed he will press charges against the individual implicated in the controversial revenue assurance contracts between the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) and Strategic Mobilisation Ghana Limited (SML) by the end of November 2025.

The Special Prosecutor named, former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta, former Commissioner-Generals of the GRA — Rev Ammishaddai Owusu-Amoah and Emmanuel Kofi Nti, also GRA officials, Isaac Crentsil, and Kwadwo Damoa. A former member of the Finance Ministry, Ernest Akore, is expected to be charged before the end of November 2025.

“I will present a petition for OSP removal if he does not take steps to freeze Ofori-Atta’s assets” – Lawyer Kpebu

Lawyer Martin Kpebu has threatened to initiate the removal of the Special Prosecutor Kissi Agyebeng if he fails to immediately freeze assets related to the terminated SML contract.

Speaking on TV3’s Key Point, Lawyer Kpebu stated, If the OSP doesn’t take immediate steps to freeze Ken Ofori-Atta’s assets, I will present a petition for his removal from office.

How the Greater Accra Region became Ghana’s national capital

0

Historian Yaw Anokye Frimpong has explained how the Greater Accra Region, the home of the Ga people, became Ghana’s national capital.

Yaw Anokye Frimpong detailed that Ghana’s British colonial masters changed the Gold Coast capital from Cape Coast to Accra because of the King of the Ga people, Nii Tackie Tawiah.

According to him, the British colonial masters noted that the people of Cape Coast were always defeated by the Asantes, but the Gas could defend and protect their territory.

He detailed that the Gas, led by King Tackie Tawiah, defended their territories from the Asantes, who sought to expand their territory, and the colonial masters, who realised that the Ga King and his soldiers could better protect them.

Speaking in an interview, Historian Yaw Anokye Frimpong stated, “When he became king in 1862, Asantes and Ewes were close allies, and they were always making incursions into the coastal areas. He brought together the Akuapems, the Akyems and the people of Ada, and he led them to drive away the Asantes and Ewes. He was able to do this about three times.

“The whites realised that the capital town, which was in Cape Coast, was not being properly protected because the Fantes were not strong, and so the Asantes were always defeating them. So, if this man (Nii Tackie Tawiah) was able to protect Accra, they should make it the capital town,” he said.

He added, “This was one of the reasons Accra became the capital of Ghana… This was the political reason behind Accra becoming the capital of Ghana. The whites thought that if they made Accra the capital, they would get soldiers led by Tackie Tawiah to protect them.”

“One of the reasons Accra became the capital was because of its stability during the reign of King Tackie Tawiah. Because of his (the Ga Mantse’s) wisdom, economic activities in Accra skyrocketed.

“The whites were mostly concerned about trade. They looked at where they could get their security and safety to trade. And they felt that once King Tackie Tawiah was in Accra, they would be better protected than in Cape Coast,” he reiterated.

In related news, Content Creator Kobe Boujee has revealed the true meaning behind some of the towns in Greater Accra, particularly Amasaman.

According to him, towns in Accra were named after the first King of the area or the things that were found there.

Kobe Boujee disclosed that Amasaman was named after the first king of the place, Nii Amasa man.

Speaking in one of his narration videos, Kobe Boujee  explained, “Is there really a town I Ghana that was named after a ghost?”

If you are a Ghanaian, I am sure you have heard the name Amasaman. Most people think that this word is actually a Twi word, and was named after the ghost of Ama. Now we typically look at the Ga words, we have places like Amasaman, Pobiman, Sarpeiman.

He further explained,  “The town of Amasaman was named after the first king of the place ‘, Nii Amasa man’. In Ga, Nii basically means a King Amasa is the name of the king, and the man means town. In Twi, ‘oman’ means country. That is why you hear names like Ashaiman named after Nii Ashai I, Nii Man, which is now Nima, basically meaning the Kingstown. For Kpobi Man, it is actually Nii Kpobi Man.

Most towns in Accra were named after the kings or the things that were found over there. Names like Teshie, which means under the stone, mean stones were found in the area or Shiashie shia, which means sand”.

“It’s as simple as ABC; If you have not done anything wrong, why are you running?” – Ofori-Atta quizzed

0

Emmanuel Kotin, the Executive Director of the African Centre for Security and Counterterrorism, has quizzed former Minister of Finance, Ken Ofori-Atta, on why he is refusing to return to Ghana to face prosecution.

The Security analyst quizzed whether Ken Ofori-Atta has not done anything wrong, why is he running away from Ghana?

Speaking in an interview, Emmanuel Kotin stated, “If I were the former Minister of Finance, Ken Ofori-Atta, I would have come back to defend myself if I had not done anything wrong. It’s as simple as ABC. If you have not done anything wrong, why are you running away? Ghanaians want to know, and you owe them that”.

“He (Ken Ofori-Atta) is creating a certain path that would damage his image and his children. And if you look at what is ahead in the future, it might not look good for the family. We had a former finance minister who had been declared a fugitive from justice and was not willing to turn himself in,” he stated.

“I think the OSP has not performed well at all. If you look at the office and the number of resources allocated to the Office of the Special Prosecutor and the level of prosecution so far, I think that we need to have a rethink about the Act altogether,” he added.

Meanwhile, Frank Davies, a lawyer for embattled former Minister of Finance Ken Ofori-Atta, has told the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) to go ahead and charge his client and stop the long talks and gimmicks.

According to Frank Davies, his client Ken Ofori-Atta is not afraid of prosecution.

Speaking in an interview on October 31, 2025, Davies dismissed the OSP, stating, “Coming to narrate and talk long and needless English is a conviction in itself. He (the Special Prosecutor) says he’s going to charge him (Ofori-Atta); he should go ahead and stop this gimmicking.

Come on, is this the first time the OSP has come out to say something about Ken Ofori-Atta?” he quizzed.

Frank Davies further recounted, “Once upon a time, what did he tell us? That Ofori-Atta should either come to this country, or he would force his entry. I mean, come on,” he said.

Frank Davies further highlighted that Ofori-Atta is not afraid of prosecution and that he is ready to meet the OSP in court.

“Let me tell you, Kenneth Nana Yaw Kuntunkununku Ofori-Atta is not afraid of prosecution. Let the car roll for the OSP; the accused person will have his vehicle. So, let’s stop these theatrics, A lawyer’s place is in the courtroom, not behind microphones”, he indicated.

His comments come on the back of the OSP naming former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta as the chief patron, supporter, and promoter of the SML deal.

“When OSP is pushed small on Ofori-Atta, the next thing is a press conference” – Solomon Owusu fumes

0

Solomon Owusu, the Director of Communications for the United Party, has proposed that the office of the Special Prosecutor be scrapped, with its budget redirected to the Attorney General’s office.

According to Solomon Owusu, when Ghanaians push the OSP small about former finance minister Ken Ofori-Atta, the next thing he does is hold a press conference and later goes back to sit for months.

He argued that the Special Prosecutor has not done enough and only appears in the media to hold press conferences when faced with mounting pressure.

Speaking on TV3’s Key Point, Solomon Owusu stated, “I don’t have any trust or confidence in this OSP and the office. At best, that outfit must be scrapped, with his budget allocation given to the attorney general if their 20-day rise is unable to recruit more lawyers, by virtue of which he could recruit more qualified lawyers to help the state around what we are doing smarter”.

He added, “When you push him small on Ken Ofori-Atta, the next thing you will hear is a press conference just to come and weather the storm, then he goes to sit down for a month when he hears there is pressure, then he comes, when all of us know that Ken Ofori-Atta must be in this country.

We are talking about the National Cathedral. How much did he explain to you about PDS? How many years spent there? He led this country to borrow 13.5 billion dollars. You understand the man says he won’t come back through the country. The last time we heard something from him was through his wife when she said that her husband was doing okay, and he was going to come. Up to now, where is he?”

Solomon Owusu’s outburst comes following the OSP’s recent press conference naming former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta as the chief patron, supporter, and promoter of the SML deal.

In a detailed press briefing, Kissi Agyebeng revealed that the SML (Strategic Mobilisation Ghana Limited), which aimed to provide revenue assurance services in the petroleum, mining, and liquid bulk distribution (LBD) sectors, lacked a legitimate operational requirement.

According to Kissi Agyabeng, both Ofori-Atta and SML management were criminally minded in their operations.

He emphasised that the OSPs’ investigation established that the SML contract was not grounded in any genuine operational need, adding that the payment made to SML was a misuse of public funds.

Kissi Agyabeng, addressing a press conference on Thursday, October 30, revealed that the Strategic Mobilisation Ghana Limited (SML) lacked both the tools and technical competence to execute the audit and revenue assurance services that it was contracted to perform for the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA).

He highlighted that the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) uncovered glaring statutory breaches, conflicts of interest, and unjustified payments.

Speaking to the media, he stated, “There was no genuine need for contracting SML for the work it purported to perform”.

Kissi Agyabeng described the SML agreements as blighted by statutory breaches.

He added that the GRA failed to submit the full agreements between SML and its third-party collaborators, “GRA failed to submit the agreement between SML and other parties, such omissions violated public procurement and governance protocols”.

Meanwhile, Kissi Agyebeng has revealed his outfit seeks to recover ₵125 million from the controversial revenue assurance contract between the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) and SML (Strategic Mobilisation Ghana Limited).

Kissi Agyebeng also revealed he will press charges against the individual implicated in the controversial revenue assurance contracts between the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) and Strategic Mobilisation Ghana Limited (SML) by the end of November 2025.

The Special Prosecutor named, former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta, former Commissioner-Generals of the GRA — Rev Ammishaddai Owusu-Amoah and Emmanuel Kofi Nti, also GRA officials, Isaac Crentsil, and Kwadwo Damoa. A former member of the Finance Ministry, Ernest Akore, are expected to be charged before the end of November 2025.

Bawumia’s Zipline was used to deliver condoms and even exam papers – Tony Goodman

0

The Ministry of Health spokesperson, Tony Goodman, has launched a scathing attack on Zipline, accusing it of failing to fulfil its core mandate.

According to Tony Goodman, Zipline diverted from its intended purpose, and its drones were being used to deliver condoms and even exam papers.

It will be recalled, the former Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, on Wednesday, April 24, 2019, launched the drones-for-medical-supplies initiative at Zipline’s first distribution centre at Omenako in the Eastern Region.

The $12.5 million contract was to enable the Ghana Health Service to fly blood and other essential medical supplies to deprived and hard-to-reach areas.

Speaking on Kessben FM, Tony Goodman alleged, “Zipline was supposed to be transporting essential medical items like drugs and vaccines to health facilities. But what did they end up doing? They were rather delivering condoms and even exam papers”.

He added, “They didn’t have the full logistics to function as expected, so they found other things to do. That’s why we’re saying the project did not deliver on its mandate”.

He further highlighted that the Health Minister is determined to fix challenges facing health trainees.

“There are young people who complete their attachments and then sit at home without jobs.

“Some were not even placed on allowances or being fully employed. These are the issues the Minister wants to address,” he emphasised.

Meanwhile, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, last year 2024, shared the reasons why he initiated the establishment of ZIPLINE Drone operations in Ghana.

Speaking at a Youth Connect event as part of his campaign leading to the 2024 elections, Dr Bawumia explained, “Today, we have brought drones into Ghana to deliver medicines, vaccines, and blood. Many people were dying needlessly because they could not get medicine on time. A snake can bite you on the farm, and you need medicine—anti-ssnake serum immediately. A mother can be giving birth in a village and needs blood immediately. In 2002, my father had an operation in Tamale and he was losing blood. We were looking for blood; the blood bank was locked. We tried to find the operator, but we couldn’t find him. By the morning, my father had passed away,” Bawumia narrated.

He added, “So when I heard about drones and ZIPLINE and what they could do in delivering blood, I took my team and went to San Francisco. We met the ZIPLINE company, and we convinced them to come to Ghana and set up six drone centres in Ghana. We have six drone centres which are delivering medicines, blood, and vaccines to 2700 hospitals and health centres in Ghana.

Every day, we are saving lives. So far, the drones have flown 540,000 flights, and what is interesting is that all six drone centres are managed by Ghanaians; no foreigners are managing the drone centres. Hundred per cent being manned by Ghanaians”.

“It is very important that recently the US Vice President, Kamala Harris, made a statement congratulating Ghana for taking the lead and the leadership role in medical drone delivery. Why did she say so? Because your own Ghana, our own Ghana, is the whole world’s largest medical drone delivery service, the whole world.

We are leading the whole world. A few months ago, ZIPLINE came and took somebody from Ghana to go and train drone flying operators in San Francisco. And so we are taking the lead,” Bawumia added.

0

Eric Agyemang, Deputy Constituency Secretary for Asunafo South and former Campaign Secretary for the Kennedy Agyapong team in the area, has defected to Dr Bawumia’s camp.

According to Eric Agyemang, he regrets his previous actions and statements made against Dr Bawumia during the party’s internal campaign.

He claimed upon reflection on his actions, he realised that much of the information he helped spread against Dr Bawumia was false, and he sincerely apologised.

Speaking at a gathering of New Patriotic Party (NPP) supporters in Asunafo South, Agyemang stated, “I came to all of you to campaign for Kennedy Agyapong in the past, but I have come to realise that the things we said about Dr Bawumia were lies and falsehood.

“I regret it deeply, and I am withdrawing everything I told you about him. Let us all come together and support Dr Bawumia,” he said.

In related NPP news, Justin Kodua Frimpong, the General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has dissociated the party from comments made by Member of Parliament for Asante Akim South, Kwaku Asante Boateng.

The NPP General Secretary stated that the Asante Akim South MP’s remarks are unfortunate.

In a statement issued by Justin Kodua Frimpong, on November 1, read, “The National Secretariat of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has noted with concern certain comments attributed to the Honourable Member of Parliament for Asante Akim South, Kwaku Asante Boateng, and considers such a statement unfortunate and disassociates itself from those remarks”.

“As a political tradition founded on the principles of freedom, justice, democracy, and equal opportunity, the Party remains dedicated to fostering a society where every Ghanaian, irrespective of race, ethnicity, gender, religion, or social background, can participate meaningfully in the governance and development of our nation,” it stated.

“The Party emphasises that political membership and recognition within the NPP are not defined by personal attributes or identity, but by one’s loyalty, commitment, and service to the Party’s ideals and the national interest. The NPP, therefore, welcomes all citizens who subscribe to its core values and principles and are willing to contribute to the advancement of Ghana’s democratic and developmental agenda,” the statement added.

It added, “As a Party of unity and progress, the NPP assures the Ghanaian people that it will continue to uphold the dignity of every citizen and to promote a political culture anchored in tolerance, respect, and inclusiveness”.

The NPP’s General Secretary’s statement follows that of Kwaku Asante Boateng who labelled Dr Bawumia as an alien and a stranger.

According to the NPP member of parliament, Dr Bawumia was an alien and a stranger in the NPP who was brought in and made vice president and should have stepped aside after serving for eight years as vice president.

He claimed, Dr Bawumia is part of the reason there is no peace in the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

He claimed, Dr Bawumia is part of the reason there is no peace in the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

The Asante Akyem South MP likened Dr Bawumia’s situation in the NPP to a stranger in a family who was brought into the family but was later made the successor, which causes conflict in the family.

Speaking on Adom TV on the Badwam show, Hon. Kwaku Asante Boateng explained, “If there is a seat at home, and your uncle or brother is the one sitting on the seat, you know that when he dies, you are next in line. But later, they go and bring someone who is not part of the family, saying that when the Chief die, he is going to replace him. This brings conflict in the family; this is the issue happening in the NPP.

We went to bring the stranger (Bawumia) and gave him a position as vice president, even though there were people who could have also been vice president”.

When asked what Dr Bawumia should have done after serving as vice president, he added, “ I feel Dr Bawumia should have pulled himself away and later return, which would not have brought out the internal conflicts”.

He is a factor of the NPP internal conflict; he is a part of it.  Are we saying that at the party will not get any Northerner who has been with the party for so long for that position?, It was about recognition that was why he was called”, he added.

“Politicians turning SOEs into milking cows” – Dr Zaato

0

Dr Joshua Zaato, a Political Science lecturer at the University of Ghana, has said politicians are turning State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs) into milking cows.

According to Dr Zaato, Ghana’s increasing incidence of corruption in the public sector is due to political patronage.

Dr Zaato noted that Politicians see a position in State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs) as their birthright.

Speaking on TV3’s The KeyPoints on November 1, Dr Zaato explained, “The political people think they have a birthright for a position in State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs). That culture has to be curbed. If we don’t do that, then we are turning these SOEs into milking cows”.

He noted that, “there is another culture. If you are a public servant and you steal, we say ‘everybody chops at their workside’. The high-profile corruption cases are politicians, but we tend to trivialise corruption by public servants.

“What is happening now is due to poor management. Today, there are SOEs which do not have boards for 8 months. The board is supposed to guide you and approve all that you do. But these men and women are already working. Before the board comes in, the CEO will know more than you, and before you realise you are just coming in to approve things,” he explained.

He added, “The right thing is that the board is there, the CEO comes in, and we approve you. So that is one area we have to look at to ensure that we do the appointment right.

Dr Bawumia, an alien and a stranger, should have stepped aside – NPP MP

The member of parliament for Asante Akyem South, Kwaku Asante Boateng, has said the former vice president, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, should have stepped aside after serving for eight years as vice president.

In related NPP news, three individuals from the campaign of Bryan Acheampong, one of the flagbearer aspirants for the upcoming NPP primaries, have launched a verbal attack on Dr Bawumia over what they described as a measly GHC50 given to them as a transportation fee.

Another suggested they will burn the town”.

“Don’t engage an angry soldier” – Security analyst advises following viral pharmacy assault video

0

Richard Kumadoe, a Security expert, has advised civilians not to engage with visibly enraged military personnel.

He noted that civilians confronting an angry soldier could escalate dangerously.

Speaking on Joy Prime on Friday, October 31, 2025, Richard Kumadoe addressed the viral CCTV footage. Richard Kumadoe explained, “The soldier has a duty of care, and we also have a responsibility to provide customer service within a military zone.

These officers understand the consequences of unprofessional behaviour, but sometimes they disregard them — and that’s part of their training,” he explained.

He added, “If I were the young lady, even though she had every right to be there and her father holds a senior position in the army, I wouldn’t have engaged with an angry soldier.

I would’ve walked away and filed a report indicating that one of the officers might be experiencing emotional or psychological distress, especially after assaulting someone. The ramifications are serious.”

Also, Retired Ghana Air Force officer and Chairman of the Convention People’s Party (CPP), Patrick Nelson Sogbodjor, has said that while the police may charge the officer with assault, the military would handle the case differently.

He stated, “The military cannot charge a Non-Commissioned Officer (NCO) for assault; that’s a civil matter. However, after internal investigations, the military may charge him with conduct unbecoming of a senior MCO. If found guilty, he could be demoted or summarily dismissed. The police will handle the assault charge, and the military will follow up accordingly, but he cannot be dismissed instantly for assault alone,” Sogbodjor explained.

“It’s unfair to tag the military as undisciplined. The men we train are disciplined. What we saw on television was unacceptable, but it reflects an individual’s actions, not the entire force. There will always be exceptions, but the military as an institution upholds discipline.”

Meanwhile, the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has confirmed the arrest of the soldier captured in a viral video assaulting a drug store attendant and a female customer.

In a statement signed by Captain Veronica Adzo Arhin, Acting Director General of Public Relations for the GAF, she assured Ghanaians of Justice in the pharmacy assault case.

Captain Veronica Adzo Arhin, in the statement, noted that the said military officer was arrested on Thursday, October 30, 2025, by the Ghana Military Police.

Part of the military statement read, “The suspect is assisting in the investigation over the incident,” the statement said, adding that the victims “have undergone medical attention and are also assisting with investigations.”

“The Ghana Armed Forces assures the general public that it will not condone any acts of assault on civilians and will not shield any soldier engaged in such,” Captain Arhin said.

“What kind of stupidity is this? How can you do this to a girl who is in school? If someone does this to your daughter, would you be happy?” she quizzed.

She further went on to pick up a cane and proceeded to give Francis some lashes before resuming her seat and putting her wig back on.

In related news, Samuel Armah, also known as Koti Nyan, a forty-year-old fisherman, has been jailed for 10 years with hard labour for defilement.

On Tuesday, October 28, 2025, the case was called with the accused fisherman pleading charge and was convicted on his own plea.

The case was presided over by Her Honour Nana Aba Quiba Nunoo.

The Fisherman has been remanded to the Ankaful Prison to begin serving his sentence following the court ruling.

He lured the victim into a ghetto in Mumford, recorded the incident and circulated it in a viral video.

Mahama’s cancellation of SML contracts saves Ghana over $500m – Manasseh Azure

0

Manasseh Azure Awuni, an investigative journalist, has reacted to President John Dramani Mahama’s cancellation of the Strategic Mobilisation Ghana Limited (SML) under the Akufo-Addo administration.

Meanwhile, the Special Prosecutor, Kissi Agyebeng, has revealed his outfit seeks to recover ₵125 million from the controversial revenue assurance contract between the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) and SML (Strategic Mobilisation Ghana Limited).

SML, which was contracted to perform the dubious auditing and revenue assurance services, is not licensed to perform the services, according to the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Ghana. The company had no prior experience and lacked the capacity to perform the contracts, for which reason the PPA denied the approval on three separate occasions, but the GRA pushed through”.

Also, Kissi Agyebeng has announced that he will press charges against several individuals implicated in the controversial SML revenue assurance contracts.

The Owner of the Burma Camp Pharmacy, where a military officer assaulted a Pharmacy attendant and a female customer, has shared details on their conditions.

According to the pharmacy owner, the pharmacy attendant in the viral video is complaining of severe migraine and a ringing sensation in his ear.

He also added that the female customer is also traumatised.

The Burma Camp Pharmacy owner is quoted by GHOne TV to have stated, “The pharmacy attendant in the viral video is complaining of severe migraine and a ringing sensation in his ear, the lady is also traumatised”.

The military man has been identified as Williams Mensah.

According to reports, the lady the military man slapped is the daughter of the former Provost Marshall of the Military Police.

Saddick Adams, in a post on X, wrote, “The lady assaulted by the Military officer at the Pharmacy is the daughter of the former Provost Marshall of the Military Police.

The Provost is essentially a senior military officer responsible for law enforcement, discipline, and security within the armed forces.

He coordinates or oversees all investigations into crimes involving military personnel”.

His arrest comes after he assaulted a drugstore attendant and a female customer at a pharmacy in Burma Camp in civilian clothes.

In the CCTV footage going viral on social media, the alleged military man is seen slapping both the woman and the pharmacy attendant.

The information gathered suggests, the military officer demanded a refund of about ₵65 after rejecting the medication he had sent a boy to purchase on his behalf.

The pharmacy attendant reportedly informed him that the drugs sold are not returnable, which irritated the man and led him to assault both the attendant and the woman.

In the viral video, the military officer pushed the female customer on the chest when the phone pull out her phone to record him. He then slapped the female twice before taking his aim at the pharmacy attendant.

It is unclear what triggered his anger in the video, but his violent actions left the attendant and the woman visibly distraught.

The DVLA boss, in a post, acknowledged receiving the summons earlier in the week. He stated, “I received a letter from the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) on 29th October 2025, at 11 am. I will be available at the OSP’s office on Friday, 31st October 2025, at 11 am”.

He further confirmed his compliance, “This morning, I formally honoured the invitation extended by the Office of the Special Prosecutor. I attended the meeting with a full delegation.”

“I wish to express my sincere appreciation for the professionalism demonstrated by the OSP officers. I have given them my assurance of unwavering readiness to cooperate fully with any investigation they deem necessary.”

Furthermore, reports suggest the DVLA boss left the Office of the Special Prosecutor after nearly two hours of questioning.

The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) invitation comes after the DVLA boss revealed he rejected a GH¢4 million bribe to stop implementing the new Digitalised Vehicle Registration Plate (DP) policy.

The DVLA boss, in an interview, revealed some powerful individuals had tried to influence him to abandon the initiative.

According to the OSP, it is seeking further information from the DVLA boss to verify the allegation and identify those purportedly involved in the GH¢4 million bribery attempt.

The DVLA boss was quoted by Angel TV Ghana to have stated, “ I rejected GHS4 m bribery cash to stop implementing the new DP plate policy”.

Meanwhile, Julius Neequaye Kotey and the technical team have outlined the upcoming nationwide vehicle registration reforms, aimed at modernising the system, enhancing security, and addressing longstanding issues like plate abuse and data inaccuracies.

The DVLA Justifications for the New System include,

Database Cleanup: Builds a credible, updated vehicle registry to tackle stolen/unaccustomed vehicles and fraud (e.g., easy plate duplication from garages).

State-Controlled Printing: Plates will be produced in-house by DVLA (not private entities) after verification, reducing unauthorised access.

Owner Identification: Links plates to verified owners to boost public safety, crime prevention (e.g., vehicles in crimes), road enforcement, and regional harmonisation (e.g., ECOWAS integration).

Best Practices: Aligns with global standards for reliable data and anti-fraud measures.

“You are vying for a running mate, do you like LGBTQ+ or not?” – Afenyo-Markin asks Haruna Iddrisu

0

Alexander Afenyo-Markin, the Minority Leader in Parliament, has asked the Minister of Education, Haruna Iddrisu, whether he likes LGBTQ+ or not.

According to Afenyo-Markin, Haruna Iddrisu’s silence on the issue stems from his desire to maintain foreign aid for his ministry.

Speaking on the floor of Parliament, Afenyo Markin stated, “You supported it; you were the Chief Legal Adviser. You supported it. Now you are running away.

Mr Speaker, the bill was suffocating the government at the time; we were in a difficult situation. We pleaded with our colleagues to manage the situation.

Now, the education minister needs grant, he needs foreign aid, he needs support for his ministry. Do you like LGBTQ+ or not? Say it; let’s hear you on record,” Afenyo-Markin said.

He further reiterated, “You are vying for a running mate. Do you like LGBTQ+ or not? Say it. You want a woman to be president, and possibly you’ll be the vice president. Do you support LGBTQ+? Declare your position, Minister of Education,” he said.

Meanwhile, Haruna Iddrisu, reacting to the debate on the floor of parliament, Haruna Iddrisu noted it is interesting that minority MPs were in Ghana when parliament passed the law, but did not voice their thoughts after Nana Addo Dankwah breached the constitution.

Speaking on the floor of parliament, Haruna Iddrisu stated, “When I see leaders in front, shouting that is not for leaders to do; if you are a good leader, you must have those who will do that for you”.

He further slammed the minority on the Anti-LGBTQ Bill, saying, “I saw them a while ago talking about LGBTQ, Hon Habib, interesting times in Ghana, you were in Ghana parliament, passed the law, Nana Addo Dankwah was in breach of the constitution, you didn’t have a voice.

Read Article 106, 7, 8. He was in breach of the constitution. If parliament gives a bail to the president and he can assent or not assent, the constitution provides what he should do. Did you do that?”

He added, “You allowed it to elapse, then today we are discussing the same matter. I heard the leader talk about how there was no administrative error, but there was a constitutional error.

The constitution is elaborate, President Akufo-Addo can disagree with parliament, but if he disagrees convey it back to parliament that I disagree with you, and this is my reasoning. I will not do it for this reason”.

Haruna Iddrisu further declared, “We should pass it, I equally would have ended by saying Why didn’t you pass it, but it will be passed”.

Meanwhile, the Anti-LBGTQ bill under the former Akufo-Addo government faced several lawsuits filed against the bill, leading to a delay in its signing.

Eventually, the bill, which became a burden for the previous government, remained just a bill and was not passed into law before Akufo-Addo left power.

“Ken Ofori-Atta has a lot of cases to answer” – Financial Intelligence Centre

0

Ing. Kwadwo Twum Boafo, the Chief Executive Officer of the Financial Intelligence Centre (FIC), has said former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta has a lot of cases to answer.

The FIC CEO urged Ken Ofori-Atta to return to Ghana and submit to the judicial process.

Speaking in an interview on GHOne, Ing. Boafo stated, “He (Ken Ofori-Atta) has a lot of cases to answer on how he steered this economy. People will want to know, and I would have wished that he had come back willingly to answer the questions.

“Those same questions were posed to Seth Tekper, and he didn’t run. Seth Tekper was here, he didn’t run,” he said.

He further added, “The OSP is working with the Attorney General’s department to make sure they have a case that they can present to the US authorities. That is not easy because even though we have a mutual legal agreement with the US, the process drags. In the case of the money launderers that they took to the US, it took six years. They had to come and present a case to our judges here.

“Our judges, rightly so, will scrutinise extradition requests to the tee because no country is happy to extrude its citizens without putting a fine-tooth comb through the evidence. There are several layers through which that request goes, and at the end of the day, a judge must determine if that must happen,” he said.

It will be recalled that the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP), Kissi Agyebeng, declared Ken Ofori-Atta a fugitive for failing to appear for interrogation into corruption-related investigations.

Ken Ofori Atta has been accused of causing financial loss to the state in several dealings, including the construction of the famous National Cathedral and Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA’s) – Strategic Mobilisation Ghana Ltd (SML), Termination of a contract between the Electricity Company of Ghana Limited and Beijing Xiao Cheng Technology (BXC) for the Distribution and Ambulance Procurement: A Ministry of Health contract with Service Ghana Auto Group Limited.

On June 13, 2025, Mayo Clinic in the United States revealed Ken Ofori-Atta has been diagnosed with prostate cancer and is expected to undergo surgery on June 13, 2025.

The wife, Prof. Mrs Angela Ofori-Atta, in the statement dated June 16, 2025, explained that Mr Ofori-Atta successfully underwent the surgery for prostate cancer at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, on Friday, June 13, and lasted over four hours.

“The doctors are pleased with how the procedure went and will now place him on a postoperative regime,” she added.

“Kenneth has always been resilient. But this has been very difficult; with the OSP choosing the period just before his surgery to declare a red alert on him,” she said.

She further gave a possible timeline by which her husband would be able to honour the invitation by the Special Prosecutor to appear before his outfit in person.

According to Prof Mrs Angela Ofori-Atta, after a successful surgery on June 13, Mr Ofori-Atta would require about 3 months to recover fully.

Mr Ofori-Atta failed to appear before the OSP for an investigative interview scheduled for Monday, June 2, 2025.

The OSP later issued a notice placing Ken Ofori-Atta on the INTERPOL Red Alert Notice database, but despite the notice, the former finance minister is still at large.

GAF extends recruitment deadline

0

The Ghana Armed Forces has extended its ongoing recruitment exercise for one week following challenges on the portal.

According to the Ghana Armed Forces statement, their decision to extend the deadline was a result of some technical challenges encountered on the recruitment portal.

GAF’s new recruitment deadline is now 7 November 2025.

GAF, in a press release, wrote,  “The Ghana Armed Forces has extended the deadline for the ongoing recruitment exercise by one week due to some technical challenges encountered on the recruitment portal during the initial period.

The new deadline is 7 November 2025.

The Armed Forces regrets any inconvenience caused and counts on the cooperation of the general public”.

In related news, Rockson-Nelson Dafeamekpor, the Majority Chief Whip and Member of Parliament for South Dayi, has threatened legal action against the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) if they fail to review the maximum age requirement for enlistment.

According to Dafeamekpor, the current age cap should be aligned with the National Youth Authority Act, 2016 (Act 939).

Speaking on Eyewitness News on Thursday, October 9, 2025, Dafeamekpor argued, “I intend to test this matter because, you see, we need to test systems to let systems work. And when systems are supposed to work, they must work within the existing legal framework. We must all obey the law”.

“I won’t have any problem if the armed forces say that the person between the ages of 15 years and 35 years is eligible to apply, but subject to a medical fitness test, because in a lot of countries, persons below 18 years are eligible to be recruited into the army, subject to parental consent,” he noted.

He further explained, “So this matter must be tested; if the army resists this call, it may leave me with no option but to seek a remedy in the judicial forum. Our army is constitutionally established and given effect to it under Article 102 by Parliament, and subsequently with legislation such as the National Youth Authority Act, which is the law that governs the youth bracket of this country, whether the army can continue to conduct its business without recourse to this laid down legislation”.

Meanwhile, Rev John Ntim Fordjour, the Ranking Member on Parliament’s Defence and Interior Committee, has told Sam George and Rockson-Nelson Dafeamekpor to go and read and stop the uninformed populist agenda.

In a post on a social media page, Ntim Fordjour wrote, “Hon Dafeamekpor and those who want to make Ghana Armed Forces dumping grounds for unqualified aged NDC foot soldiers, be guided.

Go and read and stop your uninformed populist agenda because it has woefully backfired. Otherwise, if the intention is to turn your unqualified party footsoldiers against your government, that’s your own cup of tea.

If your Principals sent you to test the waters, by now they’ve picked the reaction that Ghana will resist your vile political attempt to lower GAF recruitment standards”.

He highlighted that if Dafeamekpor and Sam George only read and paid attention to GAF recruitment, they would realise that qualified persons 30-35 years old are eligible to apply for enlistment.

The MP added, “If you only read and paid attention to GAF recruitment and enlistment requirements, you would have realised that qualified persons 30-35 years old are eligible to apply for enlistment into relevant regiments and brigades in Ghana. This practice has been there for years – has nothing to do with your populist calls.

If only you read, you would discover in the Section F of the Armed Forces advertisement published, that the age limit is 30yrs for that particular section of recruits. Check the various age limits. This your one age fits all agenda is backward and dangerous!

Add to your reading the median age of Ghana, and you will know it is 21.3 years, if you understand what that means”.

“Wontumi will be jailed for 15 years if…” – Prophet Roja drops prophecy

0

Prophet Samuel Henry, popularly known as Prophet Roja, has dropped a prophecy regarding the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi Boasiako (Chairman Wontumi).

According to Prophet Roja, Wontumi will be jailed for 15 years if Ghanaians and his loved ones do not pray for him.

He emphasised that Wontumi has wronged someone who is now in a position of power and influence, capable of ensuring his imprisonment.

Prophet Roja emphasised that an urgent spiritual intervention is needed by  Wontumi to avert the foretold prophecy.

Speaking on Onua TV with Captain Smart, Prophet Roja stated, “If Ghanaians don’t pray for Wontumi, he would be jailed for 15 years. I am saying it on TV, his loved ones should pray for Wontumi.

It is all over the news, I am seeing that they have written the number 15, and it is on TV that they have jailed Wontumi for 15 years. He should pray hard”.

He further added, “Wontumi stepped on someone’s foot, and that person will sit with him to gain his freedom from what he is going through. There is a communication going on behind his back. If he allows God in his life, Ghanaians will come out to see what I said on the Captain Smart show. I am seeing 15, and it will not be more than that”.

Meanwhile, in court this week, the Accra High Court withdraw it earlier bench warrant issued for the arrest of Wontumi.

The High Court decision comes after Wontumi showed up to court shortly after the bench warrant was issued for his arrest for not showing up to court.

The Court issued the warrant around 9:40 a.m. Wontumi and his legal team arrived after 10 a.m. and pleaded with the court for its withdrawal, which was rescinded at 11:39 a.m.

In court, Andy Appiah-Kubi, the counsel for embattled Wontumi, explained that he had informed his client to appear at 10 a.m. with the impression that proceedings were scheduled for a case management conference.

The Judge on the case cautioned Chairman Wontumi to be punctual in future appearances before rescinding the arrest order.

It must be noted that Wontumi was released from police custody some weeks ago after three nights.

His release comes after he fulfilled bail conditions amounting to GH₵25 million imposed across two separate illegal mining cases. Wontumi, on Tuesday, October 7, was granted a ₵25 million bail by the Criminal Division of the Accra High Court in connection with two separate cases relating to alleged illegal mining.

Chairman Wontumi and the Operations Manager of Akonta Mining Company Limited were granted bail in the sum of GHC10 million with two sureties.

Meanwhile, Andy Appiah-Kubi, the Lawyer for Chairman Wontumi, has refuted claims by the Attorney-General.

According to Wontumi’s Lawyer, the Attorney-General, Dr Dominic Ayine, lied to Ghanaians.

Andy Appiah-Kubi boldly asserted that Chairman Wontumi has not made any offers for a plea deal in any of his cases.

Nigerian man busted in Ghana for allegedly using juju to extort money from a woman

0

A Nigerian man has been busted in Ghana for allegedly using charm ‘juju’ to extort money from a woman.

According to a report, the Nigerian man of Igbo descent was arrested in Ghana for allegedly using juju to control a woman and extort money from her.

The information gathered suggests the alleged woman was giving this Nigerian man money for over the past four years.

Reports indicate that the Nigerian man is happily married in Nigeria with kids, and sometimes remits money to them.

Some Ghanaians have weighed in on the viral video, saying, “This Igbo man really said ‘remote control’ isn’t just for TV. Used juju on a woman in Ghana for 4 years, collected money, then sent it home to his wife and kids. If hustling were a degree, some people deserve a PhD”.

“Anyway, the thing is that this kind of thing doesn’t work whether you get it from a Mallam, Pastor or a fetish priest. If it works, there won’t be poverty anymore in Africa”, a netizen added.

“Since when did law enforcement personnel have the authority to arrest for the use of juju? Can you also arrest some of those herbalists posting as Prophets in our churches?”, one more X user wrote.

“The people in the video are ignorant of seeing no difference between this & those who go to Church or Mosque with the same intentions. So, does it mean it is accepted in Islam & in Christendom? Stop beating the man for the same thing you all do in your religions. Hypocrites nkoa”, one Ghanaian suggested.

Additionally, a netizen added, “What makes this man an Igbo person? Seriously, you people just want 2 be stupid. He never spoke Igbo, nor did any identification show anything about him being Igbo. Just ur stupid caption and narrative, which is totally misleading and malicious.. I think Igbo union should sue u”.

In other news, a disturbing video has emerged of Nigerian residents in Ghana clashing in violent rival cult clashes in Accra.

In the viral video that has surfaced online, the Nigerian residents were captured in an all-out brawl with some police officers trying to settle the violence.

Many Ghanaians are calling for immediate investigations and arrests of the persons involved.

Meanwhile, some months ago, there was a growing tension in Ghana as some groups of Ghanaians gathered at Accra’s Obra Spot some months ago to stage a protest demanding the immediate expulsion of Nigerians from the country.

They accused Nigerians of being behind a rise in crime and social vices.

The demonstrators carried placards with messages saying “Nigerians Must Go,” “End Kidnapping,” “End Prostitution,” “End Armed Robbery,” and “End Ritual Murders.”

Also, Ghanaian traders have claimed Nigerian traders are violating the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC) Act 865 of 2013, which bars non-citizens from engaging in small-scale trading. Many Ghanaian traders argue that they are increasingly dominated by foreigners.

Additionally, Chief Albert Baylor Ashaolu, the president of the All Nigerian Community in Ghana, has urged Ghana and Nigeria to come together and find a lasting solution to the dispute.

Speaking on GTV’s Breakfast Show, he stated, “This matter has lingered for some time now, and it will not help the long-standing relationship between Nigeria and Ghana. Our governments, the higher leaders of the two countries, should look into this matter and find a lasting solution”.

“The same consideration given to foreigners from the West should not be applied to West Africans, especially Nigerians. You can walk from Nigeria into Ghana without borders stopping you. Our forefathers wanted integration, and they would be disappointed to see Africans treating each other this way”, he added.

He added, “Ghana and Nigeria cannot be compared with other countries. We are brothers through business, marriage, and history. We should be finding ways to strengthen this bond, not weaken it.”

In a separate post, she stated, “On 3rd October,2025, I became a mother, and it’s been the most beautiful, humbling and joy-filled journey I’ve ever known. This journey has been everything I dreamed of and more. Overflowing with love, growth, laughter and the purest kind of joy I’ve ever known. The sleepless nights, the little giggles, the quiet moments of wonder and every part of it have filled my heart beyond measure.

I’ve never felt this kind of peace, this kind of purpose or this much happiness. Motherhood has changed me most beautifully; it’s softened my soul, opened my heart, and filled my days with pure joy. Here’s to new beginnings, endless love, and a future brighter than I ever imagined because my greatest blessing is finally here”, she said.

Earlier in the year, there were rumours that Hajia Bintu had quietly welcomed a baby, which took over the social media space in Ghana.

Some Ghanaians reacted, saying, “Do you all down here with negative comments like where’s the baby daddy and so on, clear off and let her enjoy this beautiful moment. Do you think if she did not know of the baby daddy, she would have given birth, and even if she did, it’s not our business”.

“Motherhood is a great feeling 😍 welcome to motherhood”, another stated.

Now, Hajia Bintu’s baby shower video puts an end to the rumours; however, the question yet to be answered is the father of Hajia Bintu’s child.

Several high-profile names in Ghana and Nigeria have been allegedly linked to being the baby’s father which including Don Jazzy, the Nigerian music icon and Mavin Records boss.

Ova Wise Ghanaian entrepreneur and musician, has also been linked, but claimed he had never spoken to her before. UK-based Ghanaian artist Danny Lampo has also allegedly suggested. The embattled Kofi Boat, and finally controversial internet personality Archipalago.

“I know nothing about baby showers, but is the guy not supposed to be here? Or this is the social media version?”, one more netizen added.

“lol.. is funny you all believe she doesn’t know the father of the baby”, a netizen added.

A netizen alleged, {Her father left her mum, and she doesn’t know her father. She doesn’t know the daughter’s father, and the daughter may never know the true identity of her dad. A shameful cycle that needs to be broken by the daughter, but can she mould the daughter in a way that breaks the cycle?”

“So who gave Bintu doggy style to preg like that, man be genius because slay queens are not in for babies but enjoyment”, one more netizen wrote.

“Well, for your information, she gave birth. And it’s a girl. Read her captions to understand. Her pregnancy was late last year, not the beginning of this year”, a netizen added.

“Is that part of your business?” – Watch how Ofori-Atta’s Lawyer slammed JOY FM’s Fostina Sarfo

0

Frank Davies, lawyer for former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta, has angrily slammed JOY FM’s Fostina Sarfo following a question she posed to him.

He emphasised that it was not a matter of public concern whether his client is in good health or not.

Frank Davies noted that no charges have been filed against his client, who is not afraid of prosecution.

Speaking on JOY FM, the top story, when asked by Fostina Sarfo if his client was in the best of health to return to the country, Frank Davies responded, “ Why is that part of your business?, Is that something which us the utmost concern to you?”

The OSP says he is charging him, so he should charge him and bring him. Ah, if the man has not been charged, if he is charged, he will come; he has not been charged yet. We are told the end of November, so let us all wait till the end of November.

Why ask me whether he would come? I have told you that Kenneth Nana Yaw Kuntunkununku Ofori-Atta is not scared of prosecution. So why are you asking me this question?

Also, Frank Davies has slammed the Special Prosecutor, Kissi Agyebeng.

The lawyer for Ken Ofori-Atta told Kissi Agyebeng his place is in the courtroom and not behind microphones.

He urged the OSP to go ahead and charge his client and stop the long talks and gimmicks.

According to Frank Davies, the Special Prosecutor should focus on rebuilding the credibility of his office rather than engaging in ‘media performances’.

Frank Davies emphasised that the OSP press conference was needless and accused Kissi Agyebeng of turning serious legal matters into public drama.

Some Ghanaians have reacted to the interview, saying, “HMMM GHANAAA!!!SOMEBODY IS PLAYING GAMES WITH GHANAIANS!!! HOW CAN FRANK DAVIES SAY THERE ARE NO CHARGES AGAINST OFORI ATTA??? IF THAT IS TRUE, WHY HASN’T THE OSP FILED CHARGES ALL THIS TIME???”

“If he didn’t want to grant an interview, he should have just declined. What sort of stupid arrogance and disrespect is that? No wonder he’s counsel for that kind of person”, one more netizen wrote.

Another netizen stated, “Frank Davies de3 the way he dey see e body i expected he’d run his own business without coming close to public office. It’s like Ghana has never seen his level of knowledge in law before. Massa nipa ani abre ooo. U figa Ghana belongs to only you people? Smh”

“We must know the cause of death” – Sister of Daddy Lumba says as she invokes Otumfuo’s Great Oath

Ernestina Fosu, the sister of Daddy Lumba, has angrily told the family head, Abusuapanin Kofi Owusu, the cause of the death of the late legendary musician before his burial.

The sister of highlife legend Daddy Lumba invoked the Otumfuo’s Great Oath, demanding that the family head investigate the cause of the musician’s death before proceeding with his burial.

She warned that if the family fails to act, the oath will take effect against those responsible.

In a separate interview, Ernestina Fosu on Adum TV after her court appearance on 28 October 2025, vowed to block his burial until the cause of death is known.

She stated, “The funeral will not be held on 6 December. We did not file for an injunction because we are insane. We still do not know what killed my brother. We cannot allow people to rush his funeral”.

She further alleged that some members of the funeral committee are exploiting her brother’s death for financial gain.

“Some people have taken deals. They signed a contract with Flora Tissue and kept two billion for themselves; that’s why they are in such a hurry,” she alleged.

Meanwhile, the family head of the late Daddy Lumba’s family, Abusuapanyin Kofi Owusu, has vented his anger at journalists, bloggers, and media personalities.

According to Abusuapanyin Kofi Owusu, he is not happy as journalists, bloggers, and media personalities keep insulting him every day because of the legendary musician’s funeral.

He asserted that following the legal disputes surrounding his late brother’s funeral began he has been at the receiving end of many insults from the media.

Speaking to reporters after the Kumasi High Court dismissed an injunction of Akosua Serwaa, Abusuapanyin Kofi Owusu stated, “I’m not happy at all. Some of these young media people insult me every day because of this funeral issue. I could be old enough to be their father, yet they speak with no respect. They should stop insulting an old man who is the head of a family”.

“The court has given my family and me the green light to organise the funeral, and at this point, no one can stop us. We will work together to give my brother a befitting burial,” he declared.

“Decorum and respect must guide how people report on family issues,” he added.

Her Ladyship Dorinda Smith Arthur presiding,  on the case ruled that, under Ghanaian customary law, the family holds the right to make decisions regarding a deceased person’s remains.

Twist – Daddy Lumba’s ‘side chick’ Odo Broni files a counterclaim in court

Priscilla Ofori, also known as Odo Broni, the partner of late Highlife legend Daddy Lumba, has filed a counterclaim in court.

According to reports, Odo Broni is seeking a judicial declaration that Daddy Lumba had divorced Akosua Serwaa before his passing.

This information was revealed by the lawyer representing Akosua Serwaa.

According to lawyer William Kusi, Odo Broni’s counterclaim not only challenges Akosua Serwaa’s marital status but also seeks recognition as Daddy Lumba’s lawful wife.

Speaking in an interview on Top Radio’s Final Point show, lawyer William Kusi explained, “She (Odo Broni) has now opened her defence in court and filed a counterclaim asking the court to declare that Daddy Lumba divorced Akosua Serwaa. She also wants the court to recognise her as Daddy Lumba’s legal wife”.

“The judge ruled that only the person who took the body to the mortuary has the right to view it. Anyone with legal authority can also do so. But you know his sisters are upset about that. Imagine if your brother passed away and you came from abroad but couldn’t see the body — that would be a serious issue,” he added.

Meanwhile, the Kumasi High Court threw out an injunction application filed by the wife of the late Daddy Lumba, Akosua Serwaa Fosuh, to halt the highlife legend’s burial and funeral arrangements.

Her Ladyship Dorinda Smith Arthur presiding,  on the case ruled that, under Ghanaian customary law, the family holds the right to make decisions regarding a deceased person’s remains.

Akosua Serwaa Fosuh’s injunction application sought to block the head of the extended family and Odo Broni, also identified as his spouse, from proceeding with funeral rites.

The case was presided over by Her Ladyship Justice Dorinda Smith Arthur.

Akosua Serwaa Fosuh, the wife of the late Daddy Lumba, was seeking a court injunction to halt the funeral, demanding recognition as the sole legal widow and the right to perform traditional rites.

According to court documents, her legal team is contesting the legitimacy of the arrangements, arguing that they were made without her knowledge, consent, or involvement.

“PRAYING this Honourable Court for an Order restraining the Defendants, their agents, assigns, workmen, etc., from either collecting the body of the late CHARLES KWADWO FOSU a.k.a. DADDY LUMBA from the morgue and performing the burial and final funeral rites of the deceased, upon the grounds set out in the accompanying Affidavit,” the writ stated.

However, the Lawyers for the Fosu Royal Family of Parkoso and Nsuta have told Akosua Serwah that Daddy Lumba’s family only recognises Priscilla Ofori, also known as Odo Broni, as the wife of the musician.

Watch the video below:

@omanpatv Lawyer Kusi, counsel for Akosua Serwaa, clarifies that Odo Broni has not sued Akosua Serwaa in any Accra court, but rather in the same Kumasi court, claiming that Daddy Lumba ended his relationship with Serwaa and married her (Odo Broni) — insisting she is the legally recognized wife.#awal #fyp #goviral #omanpatv #viral ♬ original sound – OMANPA TV

0

Frank Davies, a lawyer for embattled former Minister of Finance Ken Ofori-Atta, has told the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) to go ahead and charge his client and stop the long talks and gimmicks.

NOBISCO bursar arrested for stealing foodstuffs meant for students

Fedelia Kudaariwo, a bursar of the Northern School of Business Senior High School (NOBISCO), has been arrested.

The NOBISCO bursar was arrested after she was caught diverting food supplies meant for the school.

Reports revealed Fedelia Kudaariwo attempted to make away with nine bags of maize in the school’s minibus.

A team of volunteers who apprehended the drivers on Thursday, October 30, revealed some students had blown an alarm on the syndicate carrying food out of the stores at night, which prompted their attention to keep monitoring the activities.

The driver, who was busted, named the bursar of the school as the one who had asked him to haul the items to her house.

They later went to the school bursar’s house, where some food items were allegedly found, including bags of rice, cooking oil, and tins of mackerel.

However, reports suggest the bursar escaped before the team got to her house, but later turned herself in to the police.

Alhassan Dokurugu, the Headmaster of NOBISCO, has expressed his disappointment, adding that the school management was working hard to project the school’s image others were giving the school such a bad image.

He added that the school management will cooperate with the necessary investigation.

Meanwhile, some Ghanaians have reacted to the video, saying, “I remember the same incident happened in my school.. chale all school caterers dey dooo just that their cup is not yet full”.

“Even the driver and anyone who helped load it should not be spared”, a netizen added.

“You must be fundamentally wicked to even think of this, let alone execute it. Food meant for children ?! How wicked can you be? Until we imprison or punish them severely to serve as a deterrent, this will continue to happen”, one more netizen added.

A netizen also added, “Challe this country di3, I say most people be criminals o. They just haven’t gotten the chance to be in that position. Or just haven’t been caught. The secret syndicate going on in some sectors err”.

“How can anyone rise to such a position and yet can’t stop stealing food meant to feed students? What’s the difference between Hanan Wahab of Buffer Stock and this Bursar of NOBISCO?. People like this woman don’t deserve mercy; in 1979, many bursars were jailed for embezzlement”, an X user also added.

Additionally, a netizen added, “Sometimes, how this stuff dey suprise some of u no edey shock me ooo make I tell u corruption dey happen in all the government institutions just say boys no dey get time to record.  So nibbies like this no dey shock me cos wanna leaders dey do more than this”.

“President Mahama SHOULD declare “marshall law” to deal with this type of WICKED behaviours in the name of corruption, stealing and democracy.  We shouldn’t deal with these criminals in our democratic justice system. They steal, make money, and hire good lawyers to fight us”, one more X user wrote.

“But for our investigation, SML would have been entitled to over $500m” – Manasseh

0

Manasseh Azure Awuni, an investigative journalist, has said that but for his team’s investigation, Strategic Mobilisation Limited (SML) would have been entitled to over $500m in five years.

The investigative journalist noted that it takes extreme wickedness for Ghana’s former finance minister, Ken Ofori-Atta, to sign contracts like Strategic Mobilisation Limited (SML).

He detailed that the former finance minister, Ken Ofori-Atta, masterminded the dubious contract.

According to Manasseh, it is not for nothing that Kwesi Pratt Jnr described the SML as the “mother of all scandals” in the scandal-ridden Akufo-Addo administration.

“Ladies and Gentlemen, it is not for nothing that Kwesi Pratt Jnr said SML was the “mother of all scandals” in the scandal-ridden Akufo-Addo administration”, his post concluded.

“A lawyer’s place is in the courtroom, not behind microphones” – Frank Davies slams OSP

0

Frank Davies, a lawyer for embattled former Minister of Finance Ken Ofori-Atta, has slammed the Special Prosecutor Kissi Agyebeng.

Furthermore, Kissi Agyebeng has revealed he will press charges against the individual implicated in the controversial revenue assurance contracts between the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) and Strategic Mobilisation Ghana Limited (SML) by the end of November 2025.

They employ hundreds of our youth, so we will do whatever we have to do to assist them, if possible, to come back.”

“The fire department was able to evacuate all the staff. All the workers, with the help of bystanders, were able to evacuate. What we have is the losses that we have,” he added.
