More troubles for ex-GRA boss as CHRAJ bans him, orders AG to prosecute him

0

The Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ) has ordered the prosecution of former Commissioner-General of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA), Rev Ammishaddai Owusu-Amoah.

CHRAJ has referred the former GRA boss for prosecution after their probe found him culpable of procurement breaches in a vehicle supply contract.

Rev Ammishaddai Owusu-Amoah has been accused of corruption, fraud, and procurement breaches resulting in a financial loss of GHS 8,971,933.43 to the state.

CHRAJ has also banned the former GRA boss from holding any public office for five years

CHRAJ’s investigation follows a petition received in 2022 filed by the Movement for Truth and Accountability (MFTA).

The report noted that the contracts were inflated, fraudulent, duplication, and, in some cases, nonexistent contractors.

According to CHRAJ, despite the last-minute attempt by the petitioners to withdraw the complaint, they proceeded with the investigation, which revealed a financial loss to the state amounting to USD 826,551 round about GHS 8,971,933.43).

The CHRAJ report concluded that the former GRA boss presided over fraudulent and irregular contract awards to three companies.

The companies have been listed to us: Ronor Motors Ghana Limited, Telinno Ghana Limited, and Sajel Motors and Trading Company Limited.

CHRAJ also found that the companies involved were not tax compliant at the time, adding that two of the companies, Telinno Ghana Limited and Sajel Motors and Trading Company Limited, could not be traced.

Also, CHRAJ has urged the Board of the Public Procurement Authority to prohibit Sajel Motors Ltd and Telinno Ghana Ltd from engaging in any future business with the state.

They further urged  PPA to ensure strict enforcement of the Public Procurement Regulations, 2022 (L.I. 2466).

Meanwhile, the former GRA boss has also been fingered in the controversial revenue assurance contract between the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) and SML (Strategic Mobilisation Ghana Limited).

SML, which was contracted to perform the dubious auditing and revenue assurance services, is not licensed to perform the services, according to the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Ghana. The company had no prior experience and lacked the capacity to perform the contracts, for which reason the PPA denied the approval on three separate occasions, but the GRA pushed through”.

In a detailed press briefing, Kissi Agyebeng revealed that the SML (Strategic Mobilization Ghana Limited), which aimed to provide revenue assurance services in the petroleum, mining, and liquid bulk distribution (LBD) sectors, lacked a legitimate operational requirement.

According to Kissi Agyabeng, both Ofori-Atta and SML management were criminally minded in their operations.

He emphasized that the OSPs’ investigation established that the SML contract was not grounded in any genuine operational need, adding that the payment made to SML was a misuse of public funds.

Kissi Agyabeng, addressing a press conference on Thursday, October 30, revealed that the Strategic Mobilization Ghana Limited (SML) lacked both the tools and technical competence to execute the audit and revenue assurance services that it was contracted to perform for the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA).

He highlighted that the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) uncovered glaring statutory breaches, conflicts of interest, and unjustified payments.

Also, Kissi Agyebeng has announced that he will press charges against several individuals implicated in the controversial SML revenue assurance contracts.

The Special Prosecutor named, former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta, former Commissioner-Generals of the GRA — Rev Ammishaddai Owusu-Amoah and Emmanuel Kofi Nti, also GRA officials, Isaac Crentsil, and Kwadwo Damoa. A former member of the Finance Ministry, Ernest Akore, is expected to be charged before the end of November 2025.

Five Chinese warehouses dealing in changfan production shut down by EPA

0

The Chief Executive Officer of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Nana Ama Browne Klutse, has led her team to shut down five Chinese warehouses dealing in changfan production.

The information gathered suggests the warehouses were shut down at the Anwia Nkwanta in the Ashanti Region.

According to the EPA, the warehouses, which were registered as spare parts storage facilities, were discovered to contain hundreds of changfan machines..

Professor Klutse, speaking in an interview, revealed, the operation forms part of the EPA’s broader strategy to curb the devastating effects on Ghana’s water bodies, forests, and farmlands caused by galamsey.

The  Environmental Protection Authority (EPA) moves follow the announcement of the ban on the manufacturing, importation, sale, and use of “Changfan” machines.

According to the EPA, their decision stems from severe environmental destruction caused by illegal miners.

The EPA, in a statement, announced that the fabrication of Chanfan machines is being carried out without the necessary environmental permits.

They highlighted that while the fabrication and sale of the machines have provided income for some individuals, the destruction caused by illegal miners has led to widespread pollution of water bodies.

Part of the EPA statement read, “In exercise of the powers conferred on the Environmental Protection Authority under sections 3(2)(b) and 35 of the Environmental Protection Act, 2025 (Act 1124)… the following directive is hereby issued.

The directive prohibits the fabrication, importation, and use of Chanfan machines without an EPA permit. It further warns that “any workshops or shops found producing or selling these machines will be shut down, and all existing equipment will be seized and dismantled.”

The EPA, in their statement, ordered individuals, workshops, and establishments that deal in Chanfan machines to cease operations immediately.

Meanwhile, Prof Nana Ama Browne Klutse, Executive Director of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), has said Ghana will need US$200,000 to pilot nano nano-liquid technological solution to reverse the devastation caused by illegal mining (galamsey).

According to the Executive Director EPA, the dechemicalization solution, containing a copper-based ‘nano liquid,’ has been laboratory-tested and proven effective in purifying heavily contaminated rivers.

She revealed the EPA is looking at various options, including membrane-based purification.

Speaking on JOYNEWS The Probe, October 5, Prof. Nana Ama Browne Klutse explained, “I want to tell my fellow Ghanaians that there is still hope, because we are in a technology age”.

“Yes, there’s a nano liquid that is copper-based that can be used. That’s just one”.

She added, “We have tried this, which has been tested in Greece. I have seen for myself. We have done the test in the lab for the EPA and advised the government on this; we have tested it, and it works, and it’s doable.”

“To do pilots to show to Ghanaians and even the presidents that this is doable. We need 200,000 USD if I get it today, we will do the pilot for every Ghanaian to see that with the flowing river, this particular technology can be used.”

“We are looking at all of the options, and we will have to decide on the one that is more affordable, not just cheap affordable, because it’s effective and also cost-effective”, Prof Nana Ama Browne Klutse added.

“Unless they bring Jesus Christ, the number of people we will arrest when NPP wins power” – Sam Pyne warns NDC

0

Sam Pyne, a Former Ashanti Regional Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and Kumasi Mayor, has warned the NDC-led government over their excessive bail conditions in recent corruption-related cases.

According to Sam Pyne, if such trends continue, the next NPP government might as well launch a One District, One EOCO Office initiative.

He further warned that when the NPP comes to power, the NDC appointees will have to bring the crucified Christ on the cross as their bail conditions.

Mr Pyne urged State authorities to be measured and fair in everything as they pursue justice.

He warned that excessive bail terms could erode public confidence in the legal process.

Speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen on Tuesday, Sam Pyne stated, “With what is happening now, maybe when NPP comes into power, we’ll build EOCO offices in every district, office by office, department by department. The bail condition unless they bring the crucified Christ on the cross before they will be allowed to go”.

He further expressed worry about the over GH¢800 million bail imposed on the former NSA boss, whom he described as his own brother.

“Imagine my own brother Osei Assibey’s GH¢800 million bail and six sureties to be justified. That is a lot. We may laugh about it, but it is no joke,” he moaned.

Mr Pyne explained that bail conditions should not be too punitive

“I believe bail conditions shouldn’t be punitive because we can even take people’s passports. There’s no way someone can travel with a passport or even apply for a new one without their biometric data showing up,” Mr Pyne explained.

His remarks come on the back of Osei-Assibey Antwi being granted bail in the sum of GHC800 million, with six sureties.

The case presided over by Justice Kizita Naa Koowa Quarshie on Thursday granted the accused a GHC800 million bail with six sureties required to provide landed property equivalent to the bail amount as security.

Osei-Assibey Antwi, as part of his bail condition, is expected to deposit all passports at the Court Registry. He has also been placed on a stop list pending.

Sam Pyne’s remarks have since triggered widespread reactions online, with netizens saying, “When we say it’s NPP folks who destroy Ghana, some people will not let us think. See this man saying it clearly. He doesn’t care whether those being arrested have indeed been corrupt or have stolen from the country. Tweaaa”.

Another netizen added, “NPP can choose to establish CIA offices in the sky. The political gangs will be dealt with appropriately according to the law. What has NPP not done in the past 8 years?”

“Yeah, make u guys arrest your body. Instead of saying, “we will make sure there’s no corruption”, you’re thinking of reciprocating arrests. That means you go still chop wana money, vim!”, one more netizen added.

One more Ghanaian wrote, “We have these men as our mentors and leaders?  They could even choose to build them in homes if they wish. Every leader who accepts a public position in government must understand that accountability comes with the role. When you lead, you must also answer”.

“So does he mean those who have embezzled public funds should be allowed to get away with the crime? Just because they’re his party members?

Blind loyalty to any political party will make you blind to the meaning of your own words”, another netizen quizzed.

CHRAJ indicts former GRA Boss Rev Ammishaddai for causing GHC 8.97m loss to state

“Everyone should go out, we’re locking this place” – MCE kicks out China Mall patrons

0

The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of the Ledzokuku Municipal Assembly has ordered the immediate closure of the China Mall in the municipality.

In a viral video, the Ledzokuku MCE was heard ordering everyone to go out, as they were locking the place.

According to reports, the MCE gave staff and customers just 10 minutes to vacate the premises over unpaid property rates.

However, there was a heated confrontation between members of the Ledzokuku Constituency Municipal Assembly, led by their MCE, Isreal Adjetey, and some senior staff of the China Mall in the area, following the instruction to all workers to vacate the mall and close it down due to unpaid permit fees.

A viral video that surfaced on social media on November 5, 2025, captured the Ledzokuku MCE and some task force members in a heated confrontation at the China Mall.

“We are locking this place because you have not paid. Can I go and do this in your country? You can be here for 100 years, but you have to pay,” she said.

The foreign national at the China Mall stated, “We can discuss this, but you can’t tell me to go out. I have been here for 15 years. Why are you talking like that, madam? Every year, we pay for everything”.

Some Ghanaians have reacted to the video expressing mixed opinions about the confrontation, saying, “Let’s charge him and the company if we think they have flouted any of our laws, but her behaviour was most unfortunate and unprofessional, especially since the MCE was leading the charge and present. For crying out loud, allow him to lead the confrontation.

And I don’t know why most of these appointees and political actors have adopted the paparazzi style of working. It’s really worrying. Why can’t we just work in silence?”.

A netizen also wrote, “Favourite line of Ghanaian regulators to foreigners: “Can I go and do this in your country?”

“You don’t treat foreign business like enemies, summon the company heads to your office or court, you don’t barge in to demand a closing of business, what kind of village showmanship is this?”, another Ghanaian wrote.

“No sense of diplomacy any more oo, right now everyone wants to be seen to be doing their job, and in Ghana, the more you shout, the more you are seen to be doing your job. Sam George is on my mind”, one more X user added.

“I wish they could channel their energy into the salaries of an average worker in Ghana, especially those working at the malls.

Most salaries are low income, and the most painful part is that you’re overused and spend almost your lifetime at work, including holidays”, one more netizen added.

An X user also commented, “This is not the best, madam. Why shouting like this? Like he said, they pay every year, and it’s one month to the end of the year, so you could have talked to him politely and advised him to pay on time to avoid any inconvenience. At least he has reduced unemployment in the country”.

“I don’t agree with this approach. Have they been served a warning letter or cautioned about the unpaid debts? If not, the user duly summons the in charge and has an engagement with them to find a solution forward, but not to outburst in public like they are thieves operating the mall”, A netizen added.

Additionally, another netizen added, “Someone owes you, just approach them calmly and respectfully. Remind them politely, focus on facts, and seek a solution. No need to turn somebody’s office into a drama theatre.

Precise how many Ghanaian shops by the roadside and markets even pay the permit fee”.

“OSP didn’t watch Ofori-Atta leave; we were powerless” – Kissi Agyebeng

0

Kissi Agyebeng, the Special Prosecutor, has admitted that the Office of the Special Prosecutor was powerless under the former Akufo-Addo government.

The Special Prosecutor revealed that the OSP saw former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta leaving Ghana after the 2024 elections, but they were powerless.

According to Kissi Agyebeng, the OSP lacked the operational backing required to enforce any travel restrictions.

Speaking KSM Show, Kissi Agyebeng clarified, “We didn’t watch him leave; we were powerless, that is the truth. We saw him leave, but we couldn’t prevent him from leaving the airport.

We don’t control the airport, we don’t control the exit point. Let’s face facts, before John Dramani Mahama was sworn in on 7th January, Nana Akufo-Addo was the president, that was his cousin.

Now we can rely on the Ghana Immigration Service to block someone, but at the time he left, you call up Immigration, no one will bother to respond to you”, he added.

He further added, “When he left, the President was Nana Addo Danquah Akufo-Addo at the time he left. We were not getting the cooperation at the time from other security agencies”.

“National Security, no (cooperation at the time), situation is different now, National Signal Bureau, no, at the time, the situation is different now, National Intelligence Bureau, zero, at the time, the situation is different now, I mean the security set up was against the OSP, so we will not be able to perform our job, this was the situation,” he disclosed.

His remarks follow the backlash the OSP has been receiving for allowing Ken Ofori-Atta to leave Ghana, particularly from private Legal Practitioner, Martin Kpebu.

Lawyer Kpebu highlighted that Ken Ofori-Atta may be signing contracts to sell off his assets, including Databank, since he has no intention of returning to Ghana.

Speaking on TV3’s Key Point, Lawyer Kpebu stated, “The key thing we have to watch is that right now, we’ve not been able to freeze Mr Ofori-Atta’s assets, as we are talking about right now, it’s even possible that he is signing agreements to sell their shares in Data Bank, his share in Enterprise Insurance.

There are many assets he has. That is where our target should be. So we need this case to enter court quickly. And just before we enter, the law allows OSP to freeze their assets and then, after about two weeks, go back into court and get a longer duration for freezing their asset”.

He added, “So this is very key, very, very key. That’s why I’ve been saying that Kissi Agyebeng has been very incompetent in this Ofori Atta case. You know the man has many man-assets in Ghana. Manasseh did this work for one year, from December 2022 to December 2023.

When Manasseh presented a petition to the OSP, Manasseh and then Aziamu Mensah and Adobea, the other lady, three journalists. So this petition against Ofori-Atta and co was presented in December 2023. By December 2024, OSP had had these petitions for one year. One year, an OSP sat on his hands, pussyfooting Kukwasa. So much so that now we believe this is criminal negligence”.

Meanwhile, Manasseh Azure Awuni, an investigative journalist, has revealed he heard Ghana’s embattled former finance minister, Ken Ofori-Atta, will never come back to the country.

According to Manasseh Azure Awuni, he heard from someone close to Ken Ofori-Atta that he’s never coming back to Ghana.

The investigative journalist is quoted by GHOne TV as having stated, “I heard from someone close to Ken Ofori-Atta about three or four months ago that he’s never coming back to Ghana”.

“Your petition against Abena Osei-Asare, dead on arrival” – Osei Nyarko tells A Plus

0

Kennedy Osei Nyarko, the Member of Parliament for Akim Swedru, has told the Gomoa Central MP Kwame Asare Obeng, popularly known as A Plus, that his petition against Abena Osei-Asare is dead on arrival.

The Akim Swedru MP advised A Plus to withdraw his petition seeking the removal of Abena Osei-Asare as Chairperson of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC).

According to Kennedy Osei Nyarko, A Plus should take his time and learn the parliamentary rules and procedures properly.

He schooled Kwame A-Plus that the Speaker has no powers to remove any Member of Parliament from any committee, adding that only the leadership of the caucuses, through the Committee of Selection, can make changes to committee leadership.

In a Facebook post responding to A Plus’ petition, Kennedy Osei Nyarko wrote, “My colleague A Plus should take his time to learn the parliamentary rules and procedures properly”.

“He should know and understand that the Speaker has no powers to remove any Member of Parliament from any committee — not even the Leader of Government Business in the House has such powers.”

He added, “His petition to the Speaker to remove Hon. Abena Osei-Asare is dead on arrival.”

Hon Osei Nyarko further urged A Plus to immediately withdraw the request “to avoid any embarrassment to himself.”

His remarks follow A-plus submitting a formal petition to the Speaker of Parliament calling for the removal of Hon. Abena Osei Asare as Chairperson of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC).

In his petition, Kwame A-Plus argued that Hon. Abena Osei Asare’s previous position as Deputy Minister of Finance, along with her alleged involvement in or connections to contracts awarded during the tenure of former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta, presents a potential conflict of interest.

He further argued that it creates a conflict of interest and weakens the committee’s credibility.

According to Kwame A-Plus, it is morally indefensible for Abena Osei Asare to preside over a Committee that demands accountability from newly appointed officials.

The Gomoa MP’s statement read, “The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) remains one of Parliament’s most critical instruments for ensuring transparency, accountability, and the responsible use of public funds. It is, therefore, deeply concerning that Hon. Abena Osei Asare, former Deputy Minister of Finance, now serves as the Chairperson of this important Committee”.

He further detailed, “Her close association with the Ministry of Finance during the tenure of Hon. Ken Ofori-Atta: – a period defined by reckless borrowing, fiscal indiscipline, and multiple controversial contracts- undermines the credibility of her leadership. These include the Strategic Mobilisation Limited (SML) contract, the ECG-Beijing Jao Loss Reduction agreement, and the Service Ghana Auto Limited ambulance procurement deal, all of which are currently under investigation by the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP).

Furthermore, her public defence of the Commissioner-General of the Ghana Revenue Authority, Rev. Ammishaddai Owusu-Amoah, when he refused to disclose his age, raises serious doubts about her commitment to transparency and accountability.

Rt Hon. Speaker, it is morally indefensible for Hon. Abena Osei Asare to preside over a Committee that demands accountability from newly appointed officials on matters that occurred under her direct watch as Deputy Minister of Finance. Such a situation not only compromises the impartiality of the Public Accounts Committee but also diminishes public trust in Parliament’s oversight role”.

His petition added, “It is inappropriate, and indeed inconsistent with the ethical standards of parliamentary oversight, for someone so deeply tied to the very administration and financial irregularities under review to preside over hearings demanding accountability from others. Such a posture erodes public confidence and brings the image of Parliament into disrepute.

In view of the foregoing, I respectfully urge your esteemed office to take immediate steps to support the removal of Hon. Abena Osei Asare as Chairperson of the Public Accounts Committee to safeguard the integrity, impartiality, and moral authority of both the Committee and Parliament as an institution”.

“Attack on NAIMOS officials most worrying” – Speaker Bagbin vows not to shield wrongdoers

0

Alban Bagbin, the Speaker of Parliament, has condemned the attack on officials of the National Anti-Illegal Mining Operations Secretariat (NAIMOS).

According to Alban Bagbin, Parliament will not protect any MP found guilty of misconduct.

Speaker Bagbin described the two Members of Parliament’s alleged involvement in the attack on NAIMOS as most worrying.

Speaking on the floor of parliament on Tuesday, Alban Bagbin stated, “The report of attacks on a team from the National Anti-Illegal Mining Operations Secretariat, a task force established to combat illegal mining activities in the country, is most worrying”.

“Also worrying is the fact that the attack was allegedly incited by one of our own, the Member of Parliament for Asutifi North, Ebenezer Kwaku Addo, who further roped in a senior member of this House, Honourable Collins Dauda.”

He further added, “I want to take this opportunity to condemn in no uncertain terms the attack on the team of security officers who have been assigned to help deal with the menace of galamsey, which must be addressed robustly”.

“I have therefore instructed the Office of the Clerk and the Legal Services Office to provide all necessary support to the Ghana Police Service in its investigations, within the framework of the 1992 Constitution, the laws of this country, and the Standing Orders of the House.”

A police statement on the attack on the National Anti-Illegal Mining Operations Secretariat (NAIMOS) near Bronikrom–Hwidiem read, “Preliminary investigation has established that on Saturday, 1st November 2025, the NAIMOS Director and his team intercepted illegal miners operating near Bronikrom in the Ahafo Region and arrested some suspects. Exhibits retrieved from them include a side-hang bag containing one (1) Smith & Wesson pistol, two (2) pistol magazines, twenty-one (21) rounds of 9mm ammunition, an unregistered Range Rover vehicle, an unregistered Toyota RAV4 vehicle and several mobile phones.

While the team were preparing to hand over the suspects to the Hwidiem Police Station, the MP reportedly arrived with a group of men and demanded their release. When his demand was refused, the group forcibly removed the suspects’ handcuffs and chased the NAIMOS team from the scene.

A mob numbering about 600, allegedly incited by the MP, later besieged the Hwidien Police Station, demanding the release of the miners and seized vehicles. The crowd vandalised the Director’s vehicle, damaged parts of the police station, and threatened to set it ablaze. Reinforcement teams from the Ahafo Regional Command were deployed to restore order and prevent further destruction”.

Meanwhile, Ebenezer Kwaku Addo, the  Member of Parliament for Asutifi North, has been granted bail of GH¢150,000.

The lawmaker has also been barred by the court from leaving the Greater Accra Region without notifying investigators.

The Asutifi North MP was arraigned on Tuesday, 4th November 2025.

He is to report to investigators once every two weeks until the order is reversed or the trial begins.

The MP was also warned against any conduct that would frustrate the ongoing investigation.

The prosecution by Chief Inspector Alex Odonkor, citing videos circulating on social media, alleged and argued that the lawmaker could use his influence to interfere with investigations.

However, the defence opposed the prosecution’s request for remand, arguing that the accused is innocent until proven guilty.

Ebenezer Kwaku Addo Addo was granted bail by the court and is set to reappear on December 1, 2025.

Meanwhile, other accused persons, including Zakaria Yakubu, one Alex, and others, are currently on the run.

A JHS graduate of the school speaking in the video stated, “I was called by the headteacher to come to his house one Saturday. He told me there was a serious issue. He had impregnated a girl, and I was asked to take responsibility so that it could be settled at home.

I later called the girl’s family, and her father invited me to his house. Later, I heard the teacher had been arrested at the Sekondi Police Station. He was later granted bail”.

The female student further alleged that the headteacher, who sexually abused her on several occasions, tried to abort the pregnancy.

On Wednesday, October 22, 2025, lawyers of the Labone SHS French teacher pleaded for bail for the accused. The prosecution did not oppose the bail application.

The court granted the French teacher a GHC50,000 bail with two sureties to be justified.

He has also been ordered to report to the Police every two weeks at the Cantonment Police station.

Meanwhile, the case has been adjourned to December 10, with the presiding judge ordering the prosecution to file their disclosures before the next hearing.

He is holding weed and some other items, and holding plans, and came here as if he was part of the meeting”, he added.

The video has since triggered widespread reactions online, with netizens expressing their opinions, saying, “Besides the weed, the man does not do anything, and how did they know to randomly search him? This is screaming foul play”.

One more netizen added, “It can be a framed-up thing. I was once stopped, and a police officer dropped a weed in my car to frame me up. He didn’t know I was recording him with my eyeglasses; later, he ended up begging when I told him. We’re going to court and I will deal with him”.

“Lol, what is the name of this movie, cuz these politicians are playing with the Ghanaian day poor people will realise these people are just playing with your mind, then it’s too late”, another X user added.

“Someone has committed a crime, and we are quick to associate him with a political party. What does that crime have to do with the party he’s affiliated with? Like”, one more netizen added.

One more netizen added, “Settings nkoaa eeeiii NDC government. How can you just arrest someone and immediately tag him as an NPP member? Critical thinking is a level 100 course I did at UG”.

Additionally, another X user wrote, “This country will continue to be like this forever. An individual has committed a crime; instead of treating it like a crime, you’re tagging a political party. Wtf has politics got to do with this? Must everything be treated as a political issue in this country?”

Mahama orders Auditor-General to conduct a forensic audit into the 13th African Games spending

0

President John Mahama has directed the Auditor-General to conduct a forensic audit into the finances of the 13th African Games held in Accra in 2023.

This follows the submission of a report by the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB) on the organisation and management of the 13th All-Africa Games.

John Mahama’s directive forms part of efforts to promote accountability, transparency, and value for money in the use of public funds.

The Auditor-General is expected to scrutinise all financial and operational aspects of the Games.

The forensic audit is expected to cover procurement and contracting, financial management, project delivery, asset utilisation, and institutional oversight.

Reports suggest the audit will also “examine the tendering and selection of contractors and suppliers to ensure compliance with the Public Procurement Act, the management of funds and expenditures, including sponsorships, as well as the timelines, costs, and value-for-money outcomes of facilities built for the Games.

Also, verify the ownership and current state of assets procured or constructed and review the coordination among agencies and committees involved in organising the event”.

On Tuesday (4 November), a statement from the Presidency stated, “government’s commitment to accountability, transparency, and the prudent use of public funds”.

“Specifically, the review will focus on:

Procurement and Contracting Processes: Examining tender procedures, selection of contractors and suppliers, and compliance with the Public Procurement Act (Act 663), as amended.

Financial Management and Expenditure Control: Reviewing funding sources, disbursements, expenditures, and sponsorship arrangements.

Infrastructure and Project Delivery: Assessing project timelines, cost variations, and value-for-money outcomes of works executed for the Games”.

Meanwhile, the Attorney General, speaking at the press briefing on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, revealed that investigations are still ongoing in respect to the All-African Games.

The African Games, held from March 8 to 23, 2024, drew public criticism over its expenditure of more than $195 million on infrastructure and an additional $46 million reportedly needed for operational costs.

Asutifi North MP granted GHS150k bail, barred from travelling outside Accra

0

Ebenezer Kwaku Addo, the  Member of Parliament for Asutifi North, has been granted bail of GH¢150,000.

Furthermore, Ebenezer Kwaku Addo, the Member of Parliament for Asutifi North, has broken his silence regarding the confrontation between some residents and members of the National Anti-Illegal Mining Operations Secretariat (NAIMOS) task force.

According to him, under no circumstances will he incite the youth against security officers and any government-planned agenda.

“I wish to state that under no circumstances will I incite the youth against security officers and any government-planned agenda.

As a responsible lawmaker, I offered my support to ensure there is calmness in the area and will always work together with every security agency to maintain law and order”, he added.

OSP freezes GH¢100 million assets in NPA scandal case

0

The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has announced the seizure of assets valued at more than GH¢100 million and US$100,000 in the National Petroleum Authority (NPA) scandal case.

The OSP made this known in a sharp reply to a viral video of the former Chief Executive of the National Petroleum Authority (NPA), Dr Mustapha Abdul-Hamid, who referred to the OSP case against him as useless.

A post by the OSP on social media detailed the facts behind his prosecution and why the State considers the case both serious and substantial.

In a viral video shared on social media, Mustapha Abdul Hamid was spotted in a very happy mood as he greeted some people at the courthouse.

Speaking to some media at the Accra High Court on November 4, 2025, Abdul-Hamid boldly stated, “I came to support my friend Wontumi. Me, my matter is useless. There is nothing in it”.

The former NPA boss stated before proceeding to enter his vehicle.

In a sharp rebuttal, the OSP wrote, “Following a video in which the former Chief Executive of the National Petroleum Authority (NPA), Dr Mustapha Abdul-Hamid, dismissed his ongoing criminal case as ‘useless,’ it is important to restate the facts behind his prosecution and why the State considers the case both serious and substantial.

Dr Abdul-Hamid, the first accused, is standing trial before the Criminal High Court in Accra on several counts of serious corruption and financial crimes”.

It further detailed the facts regarding his cases, “These include:

*Conspiracy to Commit Extortion by a Public Officer– jointly with two NPA officials, accused of plotting to extort GH¢291,574,087.19 and US$332,407.47 from bulk oil transporters and oil marketing companies between December 2022 and December 2024.

*Two Counts of Extortion by a Public Officer– an unlawful receipt of GH¢24 million and  GH¢230,000 from oil transporters and haulage companies under the guise of official duties.

*Two Counts of Using Public Office for Profit– accused of abusing his office as NPA Chief Executive for private gain, unlawfully enriching himself with GH¢24 million and  GH¢230,000.

*Money Laundering– found to be in possession of GH¢15,343,251.29, an amount disproportionate to his known legitimate income and suspected to be proceeds of crime.

In total, Dr Abdul-Hamid is alleged to have played a leading role in a grand extortion and laundering scheme that caused the State and petroleum sector losses exceeding  GH¢291 million and over US$330,000”.

The OSP also revealed that Mustpha Hamid’s assets valued at more than GH¢100 million and US$100,000 have already been seized and frozen.

“The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has already seized and frozen assets valued at more than GH¢100 million and over US$100,000, with additional assets under active tracing. These actions are based on strong documentary, banking, and transaction evidence linking the proceeds to the alleged offences.

This case represents a major step in protecting public funds, ensuring accountability in the petroleum sector, and affirming that no public official is above the law. The seriousness of the charges and the scale of the alleged losses make this prosecution a critical test of Ghana’s commitment to fighting corruption”.

The statement concluded by adding that the case has been adjourned to Thursday, November 13, 2025, for the next court hearing.

“It is morally indefensible” –  A Plus says as he petitions Speaker to sack Abena Osei-Asare as PAC Chair

0

Member of Parliament for Gomoa, Hon Kwame Asare Obeng, popularly known as A-plus, has submitted a formal petition to the Speaker of Parliament calling for the removal of Hon.

The Gomoa MP’s statement read, “Rt. Hon. Speaker, I respectfully write to draw your kind attention to a matter that concerns the integrity and dignity of Parliament and the confidence that citizens repose in its oversight responsibilities.

The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) remains one of Parliament’s most critical instruments for ensuring transparency, accountability, and the responsible use of public funds.

Meanwhile, Kwame A-Plus had earlier fired shots at the Chairperson of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC), Abena Osei-Asare.

According to Kwame A-Plus, what ethical framework allows Abena Osei-Asare, who served as Deputy Minister of Finance under the previous administration, to challenge others on accountability?

A Plus argued that Abena Osei Asare was not just an observer but an integral part of an administration that oversaw economic decline.

“I heard Ken Ofori-Atta will never come back to Ghana” – Manasseh Azure

0

Manasseh Azure Awuni, an investigative journalist, has revealed he heard Ghana’s embattled former finance minister, Ken Ofori-Atta, will never come back to the country.

Manasseh Azure Awuni’s remarks come after Kissi Agyebeng revealed he will press charges against the individual implicated in the controversial revenue assurance contracts between the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) and Strategic Mobilisation Ghana Limited (SML) by the end of November 2025.

The Special Prosecutor named, former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta, former Commissioner-Generals of the GRA — Rev Ammishaddai Owusu-Amoah and Emmanuel Kofi Nti, also GRA officials, Isaac Crentsil, and Kwadwo Damoa. A former member of the Finance Ministry, Ernest Akore, us person he is expected to be charged before the end of November 2025.

Furthermore, Frank Davies, a lawyer for embattled former Minister of Finance Ken Ofori-Atta, has told the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) to go ahead and charge his client and stop the long talks and gimmicks.

According to Frank Davies, his client Ken Ofori-Atta is not afraid of prosecution.

Speaking in an interview on October 31, 2025, Davies dismissed the OSP, stating, “Coming to narrate and talk long and needless English is a conviction in itself. He (the Special Prosecutor) says he’s going to charge him (Ofori-Atta); he should go ahead and stop this gimmicking.

Come on, is this the first time the OSP has come out to say something about Ken Ofori-Atta?” he quizzed.

Frank Davies further recounted, “Once upon a time, what did he tell us? That Ofori-Atta should either come to this country, or he would force his entry. I mean, come on,” he said.

Frank Davies further highlighted that Ofori-Atta is not afraid of prosecution and that he is ready to meet the OSP in court.

“Let me tell you, Kenneth Nana Yaw Kuntunkununku Ofori-Atta is not afraid of prosecution. Let the car roll for the OSP; the accused person will have his vehicle. So, let’s stop these theatrics, A lawyer’s place is in the courtroom, not behind microphones”, he indicated.

Meanwhile, Private Legal Practitioner, Martin Kpebu, has blown an alarm on the Office of the Special Prosecutor’s (OSP) poor handling of the former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta’s case.

“Four years is enough; if we stop wasting them” – Kwaku Azar on presidential terms debate

0

Professor Stephen Kwaku Asare, also known as Kwaku Azar, a legal scholar and governance advocate, has joined the debate surrounding the presidential term limits in the country.

According to Kwaku Azar, both arguments that four years is too short and two terms are not enough sound reasonable, but both miss the point.

He highlighted that the problem is not the length of the term, but it is the quality of the governance.

In a Facebook post, Kwaku Azar wrote, “Four Years Is Enough—If We Stop Wasting Them. Every election season, two familiar claims echo across our political space: “Four years is too short,” and “Two terms are not enough.”

Both sound reasonable, but both miss the point. The problem is not the length of the term — it is the quality of the governance”.

Kwaku Azar proposed a solution that, with just four years, the country’s governance could be effective.

He added, “Proponents of longer terms say governments need more time to plan, implement, and consolidate reforms. They argue the first year goes into appointments, the second into launching programs, and the rest into campaigning. But that is not a constitutional flaw! That is a managerial problem.

Across mature democracies, campaign seasons are brief. Canada’s longest was 74 days; Japan allows just 12. Here, the campaign never ends.

Appointments drag on for months; reshuffles outnumber reforms. This is not a four-year problem — it is a forever-campaign problem.

Governance can work efficiently within four years if we fix the culture: shorten campaign seasons, cut political appointments, institutionalise transition planning, and empower a professional civil service to provide continuity beyond elections”.

He further dismissed arguments that giving presidents more time in office would lead to greater achievements.

Mr Azar noted that some African leaders, despite long tenures, have contributed little to the development of their countries.

“The call for longer tenure confuses continuity with longevity. Many of the long-serving leaders in Africa had time but no transformation. Development does not depend on how long a leader stays; it depends on how well institutions work after they are gone.

Two terms are not just enough; they are essential. They protect democracy, prevent power from personalizing, and allow citizens to renew leadership before it calcifies into entitlement”, he added.

According to Kwaku Azar, Ghana waste too much time governing poorly and too little time governing well.

“A government that cannot deliver in eight years will not perform miracles in twelve. The cure is not to extend mandates but to enforce discipline, efficiency, and accountability.

Transformation is not a function of tenure but of vision and governance. The problem is not how long we let leaders stay — it’s how little they do while they are there.

We do not need more years added. We need fewer years wasted”, his post concluded.

Discontinuation of Ahmed Suale murder case is unacceptable – GJA tells AG

0

Albert Kwabena Dwumfuor, the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA), has told the Attorney General that the discontinuation of the murder case of investigative journalist Ahmed Suale is unacceptable.

According to Albert Kwabena Dwumfuor, the discontinuation of the case sets a dangerous precedent.

The GJA further expressed frustration over the State security authorities’ inability to bring a closure to the case after seven years.

Albert Kwabena Dwumfuor further demanded an update from both the Attorney General’s Office and the Ghana Police Service.

Addressing the media on Monday, November 3, 2025, to mark the International Day to End Impunity for Crimes Against Journalists, the GJA President stated, “The GJA demands a full and transparent explanation from the Attorney General’s Department on the reasons for discontinuing the case. The Ghana Police Service must also provide clarification, as we now have a contrary briefing or report.

“We call on the police to outline the clear steps being taken to identify the real culprit,” he said.

Meanwhile, Dr Justice Srem-Sai, the Deputy Attorney General, has revealed that the suspect in Ahmed Suale’s case will be re-arrested.

According to Dr Justice Srem-Sai, the Attorney General’s office requested further investigation in the Ahmed Suale case.

He disclosed that the Attorney General did not advise that the suspect be discharged by the court.

Speaking on GHOne TV, Dr Justice Srem-Sai stated, “ We asked for further investigation in the Ahmed Suale case; we didn’t advise that the suspect be discharged. He will be re-arrested.

His comments come after reports that the Attorney General’s Office has discontinued prosecution in the murder case of investigative journalist Ahmed Suale.

The Madina District Court has discharged the accused following a directive from the Attorney General’s Office.

According to reports, the prosecution, led by Nana Afua Bamfoa Bamfo, informed the court on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, that “They had been directed by the Attorney General, Dr Dominic Akuritinga Ayine, to discontinue the case”.

The Madina District Court, presided over by Susan Nyarkotey, subsequently discharged Daniel Owusu Koranteng and disposed of the case.

It will be recalled, in 2019, Ahmed Suale, a key member of the Tiger Eye P.I. investigative team, was shot and killed in January by unknown assailants.

His murder ignited a national and international outrage, with demands for justice from press freedom advocates and human rights organisations.

Owusu Koranteng was later arrested following joint investigations by the FBI and Ghanaian law enforcement authorities.

The suspect was charged with abetment of crime and murder in connection with the death of investigative journalist Ahmed Suale; he, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.

According to the prosecution, the suspect led two other alleged culprits currently at large to the home of Ahmed-Hussein Suale, where he was eventually shot and killed by unknown assailants.

Ahmed Suale was a member of the Tiger Eye PI investigative team led by Anas Aremeyaw Anas.

In court, the A-G’s legal opinion, grounded in a meticulous analysis of the police docket.

They concluded that the claimed call records used to implicate Mr Koranteng were inconclusive and failed to establish any direct or circumstantial link between him and the commission of the offence.

They further added that none of the sketches generated by the police based on vivid descriptions of the eyewitnesses resemble the accused Mr Koranteng.

The Attorney-General then advised that the prosecution redirect its investigative efforts toward identifying and apprehending the principal perpetrators of the heinous crime.

Meanwhile, the two unidentified gunmen who executed the fatal attack remain at large six years after the incident.

Mr Koranteng, who appeared in court clad in a white shirt, was accompanied by his legal counsel, Emma-Jean Markin, Esq., and Frederick Gurah Sampson, Esq.

0

The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has replied to a viral video of the former Chief Executive of the National Petroleum Authority (NPA), Dr Mustapha Abdul-Hamid, referring to the OSP case against him as useless.

The OSP in a post on social media detailed the facts behind his prosecution and why the State considers the case both serious and substantial.

“I don’t understand the MP” – Prof Azar fires Asutifi North MP with 10 questions on attack on NAIMOS

0

Professor Stephen Kwaku Asare, also known as Kwaku Azar, a renowned US-based Ghanaian lawyer and scholar, has punched holes in the statement of the Asutifi North MP Ebenezer Kwaku Addo following the attack on a NAIMOS team.

According to Kwaku Azar, the MP claims he only intervened after calling his colleague, MP for the area, Collins Dauda, was problematic.

He highlighted that he does not understand why the MP will call Hon Collins Dauda, who was outside the country, instead of the District Commander or Operation Commander.

Prof Azar detailed that a single act sums up everything wrong with the MP’s statement; he labelled it as blurred roles, political shortcuts, and unanswered questions.

In a Facebook post he quizzed, “Here are the top ten issues that still hang in the air:

1. Who authorised the MP to visit a military operation zone and act on behalf of another MP?

2. Why call an MP abroad instead of contacting the district or military commander in charge of the operation?

3. What exactly was the MP’s role at the scene — observer, mediator, or participant?

4. When did the MP arrive and when did he leave, and who can confirm his timeline?

5. Who were the “youth” the MP met, and how did they know to expect him?

6. What does the MP mean by saying the military’s pickup was “tampered with”? Did he see the tampering? Who did it? If not, how did he conclude that it was tampered with?

7. Why were soldiers transported in the Zongo Chief’s private vehicle instead of calling for backup?

8. Who smashed that vehicle, and did you witness the attack? What do you mean by the glass was smashed, by then you had left?

9. Did you enter the restricted mining area, and if so, on whose authority?

10. Why didn’t the MP coordinate with NAIMOS, the police, or the regional security command if your goal was to “maintain calm”?

“When MPs insert themselves into live security operations, confusion follows and discipline suffers. In Hwidiem, the public deserves clear answers, not cloudy statements”, he added.

Meanwhile, Ebenezer Kwaku Addo, the Member of Parliament for Asutifi North, has broken his silence regarding the confrontation between some residents and members of the National Anti-Illegal Mining Operations Secretariat (NAIMOS) task force.

Meanwhile, Christian Tetteh Yohuno, the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), has ordered the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) to take over the probe involving the attempted mob attack on the Director of Operations of the National Anti-Illegal Mining Operations Secretariat (NAIMOS) and his team.

According to the Police statement, Ebenezer Kwaku Addo, the Member of Parliament for the Asutifi North Constituency, has been invited to assist with the probe.

AG intends to obstruct justice – Wontumi’s Lawyer react to AG dropping charges against Akonta Mining Manager

0

Lawyer Andy Appiah Kubi, Chairman Wontumi’s legal representative, has expressed disappointment over the AG’s decision to drop charges against the General Manager of Akonta Mining after he agreed to testify against Chairman Wontumi in court.

According to Appiah Kubi, this move by the Attorney General indicates an intention to obstruct justice.

He argued that the way the Attorney General is  poaching his own accused persons suggests that there is an intent to undermine the cause of justice.

Speaking in an interview with TV3 on November 4, 2025, Appiah-Kubi stated, “… If the Attorney General, with all the materials and all the resources available to him, including human personnel, is just for him to only rely on the former accused person to prosecute a matter against one of the accused persons or some of the accused persons, and he thinks that justice may not be undermined, that is his decision.

I would have thought that his role as Minister of Justice would have persuaded him at all times to be careful that freedom and justice of the moment be served also on all the accused persons until they are proven guilty. The way that the Attorney General appears to be poaching his own accused persons suggests that there is an intent to undermine the cause of justice. We will resist the oppressor’s rule,” he said.

“We have just been served with the notice of withdrawal of the fourth accused person, so they have come under the rules of court and have every right to do so. We are going to prepare our case when they are ready. It doesn’t change our position. We have still pleaded not guilty, and we will come to prosecute the case religiously in the best of our professional expertise,” he added.

Meanwhile, the Office of the Attorney-General (AG) dropped all charges against the Manager of Akonta Mining Company Limited, Mr Edward Akuoko.

The Attorney-General’s move comes after the Akonta Mining General Manager agreed to testify for the state in Wontumi’s Tano Nimire Forest galamsey trial.

In court, the Office of the Attorney-General filed a formal notice at the Accra High Court (Criminal Division) on Monday to drop the charges in accordance with Section 59 of the Criminal and Other Offences (Procedure) Act, 1960 (Act 30).

The formal notice was signed by  Deputy Attorney-General, Dr Justice Srem Sai.

The notice added that Edward Akuoko had been discharged from prosecution in connection with all charges brought against him.

The Manager of Akonta Mining Company Limited was facing charges alongside four: Chairman Wontumi; Operations Manager of Akonta Mining, Kwadwo Owusu Bempah; and a co-director of the company, Kwame Antwi, who, along with Bempah, is currently said to be at large.

Meanwhile, in court, Chairman Wontumi, the NPP Ashanti Regional Chairman, has had two mining cases adjourned.

Wontumi’s mining cases have been adjourned to November 12 and December 4, respectively.

In the first case, which concerns Wontumi’s Akonta mining activities at Samreboi without the required approval, proceedings were adjourned to November 12.

The adjournment was requested by the prosecution to enable them to serve the defence with the necessary disclosures.

Also, in the second case, Wontumi is accused of engaging in mining operations within the Tano Nimire Forest Reserve without authorisation.

The case was postponed because the presiding judge is on leave.

“Respectfully, Minister, stop it right there” – Abena Osei tells Sam George, in a square up at PAC

0

Sam Nartey George, the Minister of Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations, during his appearance at the Public Accounts Committee, did not mince words to criticise the Akufo-Addo government’s financial mismanagement.

The Communications Minister chides the chairperson of the Public Accounts Committee, Abena Osei-Asare, who was then a deputy minister of finance, Ken Ofori-Atta and Dr Bawumia for the high expenditure recorded at the Ghana Postal Services Corporation.

Speaking during the PAC hearing, Sam George answered a question posed to him, stating, “Mr Chairman, the answer is just simple in one word, the mismanagement of the economy by the Akufo-Addo administration, a lot of the increases. You know, Ghana Post pays a lot of Airlines for the transportation of the parcels that we send to Europe and the United States; we pay that in dollars.

When you saw the mismanagement when Ken Ofori-Atta, Abena [Osei-Asare] and co were at the finance ministry and Dr Bawumia in charge of the economic management team, you then saw….”

Abena Osei-Asare interrupted Sam George for his criticism of individuals, saying, “Respectfully, Minister, stop it right there. Just go straight to your answer and don’t be name-calling, please answer the question, I don’t think that is what we should do here.

You have been here before, I have been where you are before, let’s just go straight to the point”.

Sam George later responded,  “I’m guided Chairman”,  and explained, “In 2023, when the cedi depreciated, because we were paying in dollars, if you were paying a fee of $100 to an airline and the exchange rate was 8, our expenditure would have been 800 cedis, when it went to 16 in 2023, the expenditure now become 1600 cedis. So it is the Forex that loses.

I am sure that when you see the 2025 financial, even though we are doing more volumes, our expenditure will have dropped, because with a better, stronger cedi that is trading very favorable, our forex expenditure will be better”.

Some Ghanaians reacted to the video, saying, “Not surprising because she was part of that administration, and she was scared her name might be mentioned too. Morally and ethically, should she be there?”

“I’m out of here sef such a disgrace. Leaders solve problems and aren’t bent on letting their followers know this is how your past was. Leaders bring on board intellectuals to create solutions and not rant day and night about the usual problems that everyone knows”, one netizen added.

One more netizen added, “Oh, so, this minister from the previous gov’t, among the public accounts committee..Wow, no wonder she was criticising Sam George mentioning Akuffo Addo’s corrupt appointees’ names!!”.

“The funny thing is, he has every right to name-call, who was in charge of the government’s finances, as well as the deputy minister guiding and supporting any decisions made by the finance minister. If the economy were in good standing, she would have asked him to mention names sia”, one more netizen added.

Video – NDC woman demands alimony after Juaben party Chairman allegedly ‘chop’ her without fulfilling promises

0

A disgruntled Ghanaian woman identified as Mary Agyapongmaa has levelled a series of allegations against the Juaben National Democratic Congress (NDC) constituency chairman after failed relationship promise.

Mary Agyapongmaa, an NDC women’s coordinator, is demanding alimony from two of her ex-lovers, including the Juaben NDC Constituency Chairman.

She accused the NDC Juaben of allegedly promising her enrollment on the government payroll, but she has since forgotten about her.

According to her, the chairman, identified as Chairman Salifu, promised to include her name on the government payroll if she engages in a sexual relationship with her.

Mary Agyapongmaa explained that Chairman Salifu, after sleeping with her, has ignored her, refusing to honour his end of the bargain.

Speaking during a discussion on Lawson TV, the woman narrated, “I met the Juaben constituency chairman in 2018, and we decided to have a relationship.

During our relationship, things were not going well, so we broke up, but after the election, he came to apologise and we started another relationship”.

She added, “He could sometimes call me around 9 PM to visit him, and I would leave my children behind. After everything, he sometimes gives me GH¢250 or 300 with the assurance that he would put my name on the government payroll. I recently heard that he has married a new wife and has ignored me after the promise”.

He doesn’t pick up my calls, and since he has married a different woman, he should compensate me. And Ahmed also promised to open a container for me”.

In related news, Oheneni Adazoa, a popular presenter with Sompa FM, has lashed out following a man confessing to sleeping with her stepdaughter.

During her show on October 30, 2025, a man confessed to having an affair with his stepdaughter since she was 13 years old.

According to reports, the man allegedly sexually abused his stepdaughter and also forced her to commit seven abortions over the period.

The man, after confessing his deeds, shockingly tried to defend himself.

He claimed that it was his stepdaughter who seduced him.

The man confidently stated, “She is the one who has been renting the guest house, not me, Francis”.

Oheneni Adazoa, the Sompa presenter, was irate with the man defending his actions. She took off her wig when she could not hold back her anger.

The visibly angry Oheneni Adazoa fumed at the man, identified as Francis for defending his actions.

Oheneni Adazoa angrily stated, “You have sinned greatly, and you are sitting there saying stupid things. If not for (sic), I would get up and give you some hot slaps.

“What kind of stupidity is this? How can you do this to a girl who is in school? If someone does this to your daughter, would you be happy?” she quizzed.

She further went on to pick up a cane and proceeded to give Francis some lashes before resuming her seat and putting her wig back on.

“We should consider appointing deputy MPs” – Former NPP MP suggests

0

Dr Dickson Adomako Kissi, the former Member of Parliament for Anyaa Sowutuom, has suggested that Ghana consider the appointment of deputy MPs.

He highlighted that MPs have an intense workload from balancing legislative duties and constituency development in Ghana.

According to Dr Dickson Adomako Kissi, the appointment of deputy members of parliament will ease the pressure on lawmakers.

The former NPP lawmaker is quoted by GHOne TV to have stated, “Perhaps we should consider appointing deputy MPs to ease the pressure on MPs.”

Additionally, Nikyema Billa Alamzy, a member of parliament of Chiana-Paga, has claimed an MPs work harder than anyone else in Ghana.

Meanwhile, some Ghanaians on social media have cut the former NPP MP’s suggestion in shreds, saying, “Ewuradze!  Deputy MPs and Deputy Ambassadors (when there are zillions of foreign service Professionals waiting for postings).

What will the political class not think of to make itself relevant (the only game in town)!  For starters, scrap Article 78 of the 1992 Constitution.  That should free up enough time for MPs to do what they were elected to do:  represent the people and keep the Executive Branch honest!   Constitutional Review Now!”.

Another Ghanaian wrote, “Could you explain the nature of the pressure? We don’t have a problem if you’re willing to cut your pay to your proposed deputy. But let’s be clear: as good citizens of Ghana, we will not allow another financial burden on the public purse”.

“If you will share your salary and allowance with the deputy dea cos we are not going to pay anyone a dime”, another netizen wrote.

One more netizen added, “Then what’s the sense in appointing MPs? MPs shouldn’t hold any ministerial position. There are a lot of candidates that can hold those positions, so why does the government continue to give more work to the ones that are already employed?”

However, one netizen backed the former lawmaker’s suggestion, saying, “I think this is a good call, but probably not to appoint politicians. I think that our chiefs can be used as a second parliament. Their exclusion from our governance system has created some form of inadequacy in our society. They must be made to be part of our governance structure”.

His comments come at a time when Speaker of Parliament Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin has threatened Members of Parliament who fail to attend sittings.

According to him, the Members of Parliament who fail to attend sittings risk losing their seats.

Speaker Babgin revealed, he received attendance reports of the first and second sittings in parliament, but decided not to publish in the hope of the attendance improving.

Addressing the House on Wednesday, Mr Bagbin stated, “It looks like that was a catastrophic mistake I made,” the Speaker said. “I should have brought it out and referred members to the Privileges Committee.”

“I have given directives to the clerks at the table to take the records for this meeting. We will be taking action to compel members to sit or to be considered to have vacated their seats,” Mr Bagbin stressed.

At the time, he was walking to a nearby lorry station to pick a vehicle for his journey when the robbers demanded his bag, money, and phone. He resisted and attempted to fight them but was shot in the rib”, the report noted.

According to an eyewitness, the taxi driver had stopped driving and was working with a contractor on the Kasoa-Winneba Road project.

The eyewitness claimed the taxi driver underestimated the robbers, seeing them as small boys, which led to confrontations.

“He kissed and dipped his hand in my pants” – Old student of Mawuko Girls SHS accuses head teacher of sexual assault

0

An old student of the Mawuko Girls Senior High School has called out a head teacher, identified as Mr Ebenezer Krakani, with the school accusing him of sexually assaulting her while at the school.

According to the old student of Mawuko Girls, she was subjected to sexual assault by a teacher, which was a traumatic experience that she has been carrying with her for years.

Speaking in the viral self-recorded video, the lady narrated, “Mr Kakrani, if you are listening to this, I don’t want you to die, I want you to suffer, I want you to be very miserable, I want you to feel every pain, I want you to be paralysed for the rest of your life”.

I finished high school at the age of 17, so I was not even 18 at any point in the story. Mr Krakani was the head teacher who did not live on campus”.

According to the old student, any time school is on vacation, his male friends from other schools ask her about Mr Kakrani and caution her about him; however, she defended him as being a good man until he sexually assaulted her.

She added, “I saw Mr Kakrani on campus and he told me that my dad wants to speak to me. I had no idea that my dad made those plans. We had spoken about it, but we haven’t really finalised the plans, so I followed Mr Kakrani to his office to speak with my dad. After speaking with my dad, he told me my sister will be picking me up after my last paper.

Mr Kakrani started engaging me in a conversation, and was like, ‘Why don’t I stay with my aunty so he can show me around?. From nowhere, Mr Kakrani started walking towards me. I was seated on one of the tables, and I wanted to get up and leave, so I was confused. She was asking me to stay in Ho so he could show me around, but was approaching me from nowhere, his mouth was all over me, I will not call it kissing. Those who know him know he has a very big mouth. His mouth was all over me, the only thing I could do is to fold, and press my lips”.

She continued her narration, “I broke into tears, and he was saying, ‘Why was I crying, I am not a baby anymore’ while he was saying that, he dipped his hand in my pants. I was in a sports jersey”.

“I bet on it that I was not the only one he ever did that thing to, because if he was bold enough to do such things to me, he probably did it to other girls. When he went to close the window for some privacy, I ran away”.

Her video comes at a time when multiple sexual allegations have been levelled against some teachers in Ghana’s Senior High Schools.

In related news, the Ghana Education Service (GES) has interdicted yet another teacher for alleged sexual misconduct at the Okadjakrom Senior High Technical School in the Jasikan Municipality of the Oti Region.

“There will be a coup if I fail; all surviving ex-presidents will be killed” – What Mahama told Domelevo

0

Daniel Domelevo, the former Auditor-General, has recounted a conversation he had with President John Dramani Mahama over his fears of being overthrown if he fails to deliver in government.

The former Auditor-General revealed that Mahama told him there could be a coup if he failed, with all surviving ex-presidents facing the firing squad.

According to Daniel Domelevo, President Mahama’s fears stem from the Burkina Faso leader, Ibrahim Traoré, receiving loud cheers during Mahama’s own inauguration on January 7, 2025.

Domelevo revealed that Mahama added that Jerry Rawlings and Evans Atta Mills are fortunate to be dead, but the living former presidents would not go scot-free.

He also noted that Ghanaians want leadership and not just democracy, citing reactions to Burkina Faso President Ibrahim Traoré’s attendance at his inauguration.

Domelevo revealed he told Mahama that no nation is immune to a coup, but it depends on how the system is run.

Speaking on the recent interview on Nhyira FM, Daniel Domelevo stated, “Do you know what he told me? He said that ‘his research has shown that if he fails, there would be a coup in Ghana.’ These were the words from his mouth. He said there would be a coup soon if he fails because he has realised that Ghanaians like the military approach; they want to see things happening at a faster pace,” he said.

“He added that ‘if that coup happens, all the former presidents would be taken to the firing squad and shot one by one.’ He said this and added, ‘Rawlings and Atta Mills are fortunate because they are dead, but those of them alive would not go scot-free’,” he added.

Domelevo added, “He said if he fails to deliver good governance, he knows there could be a coup in Ghana, and that he and other former presidents might be targeted. He emphasised that this is his biggest fear”.

“President Mahama told me in a private meeting that he was deeply concerned after witnessing how Ghanaians celebrated Burkina Faso’s leader, Ibrahim Traoré, during his visit to Ghana. Ghanaians are demanding leadership more than just democracy,” Mr Domelevo emphasised.

He indicated, “I told President Mahama, and I will say it again, that no nation is immune to a coup, but it depends on how the system is run. We need strong institutions to be able to fight corruption. The institutions are there, just empower them”.

“I told the president that Ghanaians are looking for leadership and not democracy. And so he should be careful that he does not give us democracy.

Meanwhile, some Ghanaians have reacted to Daniel Yao Domelevo’s revelations, saying, “It’s good John Mahama has been reading my messages. If ORAL fails, I’ve promised the coup in Ghana and no one will stop it”.

Another netizen added, “Domelevo, those conversations were to you and your ears. You needn’t bring that part into the public domain. Sometimes, take into consideration the emotions of the bereaved families. This is wrong”.

“I always said this. @JDMahama has tamed down the anger of Ghanaians in the meantime. We lost hope after Akuffo-Addo failed. If not for the Mahama government, Ghana go get coup. I am saying this based on the youth uprising from the frequent demonstrations. It was really getting there”, another netizen wrote.

An X user added, “In this state of governance, I don’t think it’s appropriate to share such crucial information with the public. It must be deleted as soon as possible. We need peace in this country”.

One more X user added, “This goes to tell u how best these leaders know our plights, but kudos to Prez., Mahama. He’s indeed bought some time for Ghana. People r really tired of their governments, hence the widespread uprisings in the world. Only the elites r having things easy and SM is exposing that”.

“A day would come when the youth would wield guns and storm Burma Camp” – Security analyst warns

0

Asiedu Tetteh, a Security analyst, has warned that a day would come when the youth would wield guns and storm Burma Camp.

According to the Security analyst, the riot which occurred outside the Hwidiem Police Station following the arrest of two individuals by NAIMOS is not surprising.

He highlighted that for over 600-strong angry mob that stormed the police station was something that was bound to happen.

Speaking on the issue, the Security analyst detailed, “What happened at the Hwidiem Police Station was not surprising. We all saw it coming. We allowed it to happen. Any security analyst worth his salt knew this day would come. Analysts knew a day would come when the youth of Ghana would face off with the military, and police stations would be set ablaze.

We knew a day would come when the youth would gather the boldness, wield guns, and storm the Burma Camp to attack the facility. This is because the government has refused to act”.

“If care is not taken, we will reach the point where we will witness gun and shooting exchanges between our security services and the youth. The security gaps we will witness will be worse”, he added.

Asiedu Tetteh blamed Ghanaians for failing to prioritise security issues and warned that the nation must prepare for worse scenarios.

His comments come on the back of a mob numbering about 600, allegedly incited by the MP besieging the Hwidien Police Station, demanding the release of the miners and seized vehicles.

In a statement issued by the police read, “The Member of Parliament for Asutifi North, Hon. Ebenezer Kwaku Addo, who is alleged to have incited the mob and obstructed the NAIMOS team, has been invited to assist the ongoing investigation into the incident.

Preliminary investigation has established that on Saturday, 1st November 2025, the NAIMOS Director and his team intercepted illegal miners operating near Bronikrom in the Ahafo Region and arrested some suspects.

AG drops charges against Akonta Mining Manager, after agreeing to ‘spill the beans’ against Wontumi

0

The Office of the Attorney-General (AG) has dropped all charges against the Manager of Akonta Mining Company Limited, Mr Edward Akuoko.

In court last week, the Accra High Court withdrew it earlier bench warrant issued for the arrest of Wontumi.

The High Court decision comes after Wontumi showed up to court shortly after the bench warrant was issued for his arrest for not showing up to court.

The Court issued the warrant around 9:40 a.m. Wontumi and his legal team arrived after 10 a.m. and pleaded with the court for its withdrawal, which was rescinded at 11:39 a.m.

In court, Andy Appiah-Kubi, the counsel for embattled Wontumi, explained that he had informed his client to appear at 10 a.m. with the impression that proceedings were scheduled for a case management conference.

The Judge on the case cautioned Chairman Wontumi to be punctual in future appearances before rescinding the arrest order.

In related news, Prophet Samuel Henry, popularly known as Prophet Roja, has dropped a prophecy regarding Chairman Wontumi.

According to Prophet Roja, Wontumi will be jailed for 15 years if Ghanaians and his loved ones do not pray for him.

He emphasised that Wontumi has wronged someone who is now in a position of power and influence, capable of ensuring his imprisonment.

Prophet Roja emphasised that an urgent spiritual intervention is needed by  Wontumi to avert the foretold prophecy.

Speaking on Onua TV with Captain Smart, Prophet Roja stated, “If Ghanaians don’t pray for Wontumi, he would be jailed for 15 years. I am saying it on TV, his loved ones should pray for Wontumi.

It is all over the news, I am seeing that they have written the number 15, and it is on TV that they have jailed Wontumi for 15 years. He should pray hard”.

He further added, “Wontumi stepped on someone’s foot, and that person will sit with him to gain his freedom from what he is going through. There is a communication going on behind his back. If he allows God in his life, Ghanaians will come out to see what I said on the Captain Smart show. I am seeing 15, and it will not be more than that”.

Ato Forson and Jinapor, Mahama’s preferred presidential ticket – Adom-Otchere claims

0

Paul Adom-Otchere, a Ghanaian broadcaster and the host of Good Evening Ghana, has claimed that President John Mahama has identified Ato Forson and John Jinapor as his preferred NDC candidates for the 2028 elections.

According to Adom-Otchere, John Mahama is backing Ato Forson following his performance in handling the Ghanaian economy as Finance Minister.

Adom-Otchere described the ticket of Dr Cassiel Ato Forson and  John Abdulai Jinapor as the president’s ticket.

Speaking on his Good Evening Ghana show on October 31, 2025, Adom-Otchere alleged, “This is President Mahama’s ticket, from what we are hearing, Cassiel Forson, the finance minister… He’s been told that if he continues doing what he’s doing until the end of next year, he will be the anointed choice of John Mahama as the next flagbearer of the NDC”

Who is going to be his running mate, our good friend John Jinapor, member of parliament and minister for Energy. The two ways the NDC want to say they are doing well in government are one of them, energy, and the other is finance”.

He added, “Ato Forson will tell you that the cedi was 17, it is now 10, it’s a feather in his cap. He will tell you gold reserves have improved and petroleum prices have been stabilised”.

He further alleged that Cassiel Ato Forson has his eyes set on becoming the leader of the NDC.

“Cassiel Ato Forson is firmly focused on becoming the leader of the NDC, the presidential candidate of the NDC, going forward to the 2028 election, and his running mate is John Jinapor.

“John Jinapor, they call him ‘JJ’ in Parliament, and he’s the deal. The two of them, Ato Forson and Jinapor, are the president’s ticket. Forget about everything else,” Adom-Otchere asserted.

Meanwhile, Ato Ahwoi, a founding member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), had earlier fired shots at Paul Adom-Otchere over his remarks concerning the NDC’s flagbearership race.

The NDC founding member highlighted that President Mahama has barely done nine months out of his four years.

According to Ato Ahwoi, Paul Adom-Otchere must keep quiet and shut his mouth and allow Mahama to serve.

Speaking on Metro TV’s Good Morning Ghana show on Friday, October 3, 2025, Ato Ahwoi, calling in the show, stated, “Mahama has done only nine months of the four years, and I don’t understand why we are going through this thing of trying to select a flagbearer now. It is not yet time.

President Mahama has done only nine months, and we have three and a half more years to go. So, people should just keep quiet and let him do his governance.

Paul Adom-Otchere, please keep quiet and shut your mouth and let Mahama serve his term. You never did what you are doing today when Akufo-Addo was in power,” he fumed.

Ato Ahwoi added, “I would like him [Paul] to concentrate on his NPP things, while we also concentrate on our NDC things. The NDC is very clear. It says that it will select a flagbearer at least within one year of the election, so it means we can choose to select our flagbearer sometime in 2028 or 2027”.

“All these things that are going on, causing confusion between Asiedu Nketiah and Julius Debrah, and everybody is a typical trademark of Paul Adom-Otchere and I don’t think we should give him the chance to do what he’s doing on the TV. We have our party, and we are running our party, and we know when we are going to elect our flagbearer”, he added.

GRA Boss, top officials summoned by OSP over SML

0

The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has summoned Anthony Sarpong, the General of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA), Celestine Annan, the Assistant Commissioner in charge of Finance, and Kenneth Agyei-Duah, the Commissioner-General.

The three top officials are expected to appear before investigators in connection with ongoing probes into the GRA–Strategic Mobilisation Ghana Limited (SML) revenue assurance contract.

According to reports, the three GRA officials allegedly instructed the Acting Head of Legal to issue a letter to lawyers for SML in mid-October.

The OSP noted that this is the second time the Commissioner-General and the Assistant Commissioner for Finance have been invited.

Reports suggest that their earlier statements contradict the contents of the letter they are alleged to have approved.

This summons comes following the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has announcement of the arrest of Freeman Sarbah, the Acting Head of Legal Affairs at the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA).

Freeman Sarbah has been arrested over his alleged involvement in corruption and obstruction of justice related to the controversial GRA–Strategic Mobilization Ghana Limited (SML) revenue assurance contract.

In a post on a social media page on X, the OSP wrote, “The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has arrested the Acting Head of Legal at the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA), Freeman Sarbah.

Mr Sarbah is under investigation for suspected corruption and corruption-related offenses, as well as obstruction of justice, in respect of the GRA–Strategic Mobilization Ghana Limited (SML) revenue assurance contract”.

Meanwhile, the Special Prosecutor, Kissi Agyebeng, has revealed his outfit seeks to recover ₵125 million from the controversial revenue assurance contract between the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) and SML (Strategic Mobilization Ghana Limited).

Furthermore, President John Dramani Mahama has cancelled the Strategic Mobilization Ghana Limited (SML) under the Akufo-Addo administration.

On Friday, October 31, 2025, President John Dramani Mahama directed the Minister of Finance, Dr Cassiel Ato Forson, to terminate all existing contracts between the Government and Strategic Mobilization Ghana Limited (SML).

This follows the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) concluding its probe into the dubious contracts awarded to Strategic Mobilization Ghana Limited (SML).

PAC refers Ridge, KATH and 10 others to AG for prosecution

0

Samuel Atta Mills, the Ranking Member of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) of Parliament, has referred Ridge Hospital, Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) and 10 other public institutions to the Attorney-General for prosecution.

The 12 public institutions have been referred to the Attorney-General over their failure to recover funds that were wrongfully paid.

According to Samuel Atta Mills, his decision follows persistent non-compliance by the affected institutions.

Speaking during the Committee’s sitting on Monday, November 3, 2025, the Ranking Member, Samuel Atta Mills, stated, “Those who hadn’t completed their assignments within 30 days—do they come back to you to explain why they haven’t done it? I would recommend that those who haven’t complied within the period be referred to the Attorney-General for prosecution”.

“Komfo Anokye, for instance, has an unearned salary of GH¢3 million that remains unrecovered. The Regional Health Directorate of Agona East has not responded regarding Tier Two contributions, and Amansie South is also among those being referred,” he added.

In related news, Samuel Atta-Mills has tackled the management of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) for exceeding its budget by over GHC180 million.

According to Samuel Atta-Mills, it is mindboggling that the ECG spend all these, and still wants to increase the tariffs of Ghanaians.

Speaking during a PAC meeting on Tuesday, October 28, ranking member Samuel Atta-Mills stated, “It is extremely worrying. Before I refer you to the Attorney General for prosecution, let me go through some of these items. There are thirteen items in your budget that you exceeded, without approval from the board.

This happened in 2023. It is the way you guys spend money at ECG”, he added.

The list of ECGs’ approved budgetary allocations against unapproved expenditures for the year 2023 is as follows;

Foreign Training-GH¢31 Million —GH¢91 Million

Cleaning Expenses-GH¢2.8 Million—GH¢10.4 Million

Honorarium Expenses-GH¢3.8 Million—GH¢4.6 Million

Hotel Expenses-GH¢9.3 Million—GH¢12.2 Million

Staff Fuel-GH¢2.8 Million—GH¢7.9 Million

Communication Expenses-GH¢4.2 Million—GH¢7.9 Million

Consultancy Expenses-GH¢40 Million—GH¢58.6 Million

Industrial Relations-GH¢2 Million—GH¢13 Million

Stakeholder Expenses-GH¢3.1 Million—GH¢49 Million

Publicity Expenses-GH¢5.7 Million—GH¢21.8 Million

Professional Fees and Subscriptions-GH¢731k—GH¢1.5 Million

Overseas Travel Expenses-GH¢14 Million—GH¢29.8 Million

Call Centre Expenses-GH¢23.5 Million—GH¢29.3Million

“All these you did on your own without even board approval. Stakeholders’ expenses: your budget was 3.1 million, and you spent 49 million. And you want to increase our tariffs. Budget approval was for 144 million, and you spent 333 million, which is an excess of 189.2 million”.

He further recommended that the managers involved face the Attorney General for prosecution due to the financial indiscipline.

“This shows financial indiscipline. Those managers who were involved, I’m recommending that they need to face the Attorney General for prosecution,” he added.

He added, “Nana Kwame Bediako will become the president of Ghana; it is merged in time, Kennedy Agyapong will team up with Alan Kyeremanten to shake the NPP for 2032 and in that condition, they will still lose the elections”.

Meanwhile, Mustapha Gbande, the Deputy General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has told party members to kill the conversation surrounding who succeeds President John Mahama.

According to Mustapha Gbande, he is determined that President Mahama must succeed.

“I did not order the release of any suspects” – Collins Dauda breaks silence on NAIMOS attack

0

Collins Dauda, the Member of Parliament for Asutifi South, has broken his silence on the confrontation between some residents of his constituency and members of the National Anti-Illegal Mining Operations Secretariat (NAIMOS) task force.

According to Collins Dauda, he never ordered the release of any suspects arrested by the NAIMOS task force.

Speaking on Asempa FM on Monday, November 3, 2025, Collins Dauda explained, “I left Ghana to attend meetings for the Pan-African Parliament in South Africa. I received several calls from people in my constituency about the presence of some military men conducting operations.

“I asked the assemblyman to visit the site so I can speak with the leader of the team [soldiers] to give me a briefing. When the assemblyman arrived, the leader of the team [soldiers] refused to speak with me,” he narrated.

He added, “In the same moment, the Asutifi North MP [Ebenezer Addo] called me that he was coming to my constituency to attend a funeral, and so I called him, considering his higher position to visit the site so I can speak with the commander of the team and maybe the commander will not refuse to talk to me since he is an MP.”

He continued, “He had no plans of coming there but went there because of my request and demand for briefings… When he [Addo] got there, the commander agreed to speak with me. The commander said that some people were illegally mining in the area, and they had demolished the shelters. I did not say anything to him, the call dropped in the process, and I did not call him back.”

“I later heard that some angry youths had attacked the team at the police station… No. I never ordered the release of any suspects. I wasn’t even aware of any thugs going to the site. Why would I organise thugs and direct an MP to lead the thugs to go and attack them?” he said.

His comments follow reports of  the National Anti-Illegal Mining Operations Secretariat (NAIMOS )’s crackdown on illegal mining in the Ahafo Region turned violent when officials narrowly escaped death in a mob attack.

NAIMOS officials were attacked by an angry mob in Hwediem in the Ahafo Region.

In a viral video on social media, armed police officers were spotted mounting a guard to protect the military officers amid the huge and agitated crowd.

Five of the officers were escorted into a packed 4×4 vehicle, which had reportedly been vandalised by the angry galamseyers.

The information gathered suggests the mob attack followed the soldiers’ discovery of an illegal mining site at Bronikrom near Hwidiem, where they stormed the location, arresting the site owner, confiscating two vehicles, mobile phones and two pistols and setting fire to some wooden structures and mining equipment belonging to the owner.

NAIMOS’s raid reportedly provoked some residents numbering over 600 who stormed the Hwidiem Police Station, where the soldiers had gone to lodge an official complaint.

The crowd demanded the instant release of the two seized vehicles and insisted that the police hand over the soldiers for discipline.

Joy News, Journalist Erastus Asare Donkor has revealed that Member of Parliament for Asutifi North, Hon. Ebenezer Kwaku Addo, was at the scene with several thugs.

According to the MP for Asutifi North, he was directed by Hon Collins Dauda, the MP for the area, who demanded that the Director release the arrested galamsey kingpins, including a Burkinabe.

“There could be a coup; Ex-Presidents could face firing squad if I fail” – Listen to what Mahama told Domelevo

0

Daniel Domelevo, the former Auditor-General, has said President John Dramani Mahama fears being overthrown if he fails to deliver in government.

According to Daniel Domelevo, President Mahama’s fears stem from the Burkina Faso leader, Ibrahim Traoré, receiving loud cheers during Mahama’s own inauguration on January 7, 2025.

Also, Daniel Domelevo has called for internal auditors and directors to be prosecuted where corruption is identified.

According to Domelevo, the fight against corruption will yield results when it is extended to auditors, directors, and heads of institutions who preside over corrupt practices.

Speaking on Ghana’s corruption fight, Daniel Domelevo stated, “Internal auditors, directors, and heads of institutions where corruption is identified must also be prosecuted”

“[President] Mahama can eliminate corruption by strengthening Article 286(4) of the Constitution and ensuring that provisions on reverse burden and unexplained wealth are actively enforced,” Mr Domelevo explained.

He added, “Corruption cases are likely to worsen in the next five years if we fail to enforce existing laws,” said Mr Domelevo

“Fast-tracking corruption cases to a maximum of three months can serve as a strong deterrent to other public officials,” he said.

BoG to release another $1bn into Foreign Exchange Market in November

0

The Bank of Ghana (BoG) is expected to release $1 billion into the market in November under the central bank foreign exchange (FX) intermediation under its Domestic Gold Purchase Programme.

According to reports, the initiative will see the Central Bank auction about $300 million twice a week in November to licensed commercial banks.

This was made known in a notice circulated to dealers and traders of participating commercial banks.

The Central Bank added that subsequent monthly volumes will be determined based on prevailing market conditions.

In October, BoG sold up to  $1.15 billion to the market under its Domestic Gold Purchase Programme.

Speaking at a meeting with heads of commercial banks in Accra, the Governor of the BoG, Dr Johnson Asiama, stated, “Beginning October 2025, the Bank of Ghana will commence foreign exchange (FX) intermediation under the Domestic Gold Purchase Programme, with plans to sell up to US$1.15 billion for the month.

These sales will be conducted on a spot basis through twice-weekly, price-competitive auctions open to all licensed banks,” he said.

The move is to deepen the interbank FX market, improve price discovery, and stabilise the cedi.

The Domestic Gold Purchase Programme is part of the BoG’s broader strategy to reduce reliance on foreign currency and support long-term exchange rate stability.

Meanwhile, Dr Johnson Asiama, the Governor of the Bank of Ghana, has revealed that the Central Bank occasionally intervene to stabilise the cedi for periods of exceptional market pressure.

The BoG Governor refuted claims that the Central Bank is overstepping its bounds in managing the foreign exchange market.

According to the BoG Governor, the Central Bank’s actions fall within a flexible exchange rate framework aimed only at curbing excessive volatility.

Speaking at the IMF–World Bank Governor Talk Series in Washington, D.C., Dr Asiama explained, “The framework that we have is a flexible exchange rate management framework. Essentially, what we do is smooth excessive volatilities. Yes, there were allegations about whether we were intervening in the market, but that was not exactly the case”

Dr Asiama highlighted that in the second and third quarters of 2025, Ghana undertook several “lumpy” foreign payments, including billions of U.S. dollars to Independent Power Producers (IPPs) and domestic bondholders, adding that at the same time, remittance inflows weakened, draining liquidity from the interbank foreign exchange market.

He added, “In the mix of that, the central bank had to step in. The interbank FX market had dried up, so the central bank had to provide that support”.

“We do not over-support the market at all. What we seek to do is limit volatility to ensure smooth dynamics in the market, and that is the framework we will maintain going forward,” he affirmed.

Also, Dr Johnson Asiama says Ghana’s economy has made a firm recovery after years of instability.

He described Ghana’s economy as being “back on track” following months of policy discipline.

Dr Asiama stated, “We came to meet a challenged economy in the sense that, remember, we had a domestic debt issue in 2022, fiscal policy was highly expansionary. It led to our exiting the international financial market. There was a resort to domestic financing.

“We remember all the sovereign downgrades we had to suffer. We came into office with a lot of liquidity, high inflation, [and an exchange rate that was depreciating widely,” he said.

“And I remember when we came in, there were talks about whether we should cancel the programme altogether, there were doubts as to whether we would be able to carry on the programme.

“But I am happy to say that eight months down the road, we have turned the corner. Ghana is back,” Dr Asiama declared.

The Governor added, “Growth has rebounded, inflation has cooled, and Ghana is now outperforming expectations under the IMF programme. Inflation, which stood at 23.5 per cent in January 2025, has since dropped to 9.4 per cent in September — the first single-digit rate in four years, beating the government’s 11.9 per cent target.”

GRA’s acting Head of Legal picked up by OSP

0

The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has announced the arrest of Freeman Sarbah, the Acting Head of Legal Affairs at the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA).

Speaking in an interview on TV3, he stated, “When the incident happened yesterday, having spoken to the director of operations of NAIMOS, he indicated to me that he survived clearly by the mercy of God because if you look at the intensity of the anger and how they were very much charged, he and the rest of the team would have lost their lives.

“… you should have heard him or the rest of the team narrate the incident. It was bloody, and it could have been a different story altogether”.

Also, Christian Tetteh Yohuno, the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), has ordered the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) to take over the probe involving the attempted mob attack on the Director of Operations of the National Anti-Illegal Mining Operations Secretariat (NAIMOS) and his team.

As a responsible lawmaker, I offered my support to ensure there is calmness in the area and will always work together with every security agency to maintain law and order”, he added.

“Under no circumstances did I incite the youth against NAIMOS” – Asutifi North MP

Ebenezer Kwaku Addo, the Member of Parliament for Asutifi North, has broken his silence regarding the confrontation between some residents of his constituency and members of the National Anti-Illegal Mining Operations Secretariat (NAIMOS) task force.

According to Kwaku Addo, he has been compelled to respond to the misunderstanding of his involvement in the confrontation.

In a statement issued on November 3, 2025, Mr Addo narrated, “On 1st  November 2025, while en route to a funeral at Acherensua in the Asutifi South Constituency, I inquired from Hon. Collins Dauda, the MP for the Asutifi South Constituency, whether he was available so we could move together.

Hon. Dauda indicated that he is currently not in the country, so I could represent him upon reaching Hwidiem. I realised there was tension in town, so I inquired and was told there was a Military operation going on at a gold extraction site. 1 quickly called back Hon. Dauda to inform him of the development.

He asked me to go to the site to enable him to speak with the Team to ascertain what was going on because one of the assembly members whom he sent wasn’t spoken to by the Military team”.

His statement added, “Upon reaching the site with my constituency Vice Chairman and driver, I introduced myself to the leader and asked that he speak to the person on the phone. Having arrived at the place, I saw some youths at the site, while others gradually massed up.

The only advice I could give was for us to move to the police station to officially make a statement and subsequently hand over items and suspects to the police to calm tensions.

Upon reaching the police station, it was seen that the major road had been blocked, preventing vehicular movement”.

The MP’s statement added, “Together with the Military, the Regional Police Crime Officer, NIB operatives, and the Kenyasi Police Commander, we all remained in the police charge office while statements were being taken.

I went further to call in the Zongo Chief of Hwidiem to assist us in calming the situation, and he came.

Having finalised the handing over of items to the Regional Crime Officer, the Zongo Chief volunteered to pick up the Military officers in his Toyota Sequoia vehicle because the pick up of the military had been tampered with

The Toyota vehicle of the Zongo Chief had its glass smashed at the back, and by then, I had left to attend other funerals in Ntotroso. Gyedu and Wamahinso”.

According to him, under no circumstances will he incite the youth against security officers and any government-planned agenda.

On Saturday, November 1, 2025, the National Anti-Illegal Mining Operations Secretariat (NAIMOS )’s crackdown on illegal mining in the Ahafo Region turned violent when officials narrowly escaped death in a mob attack.

The director, however, politely declined the unlawful request.

He asserted that the arrests were appropriate and that the right procedure was followed through to the Police.

After the rejection of the MP’s demand, the MP and his thugs became violent and forcefully snatched the handcuff keys from one of the soldiers.

Manhyia defers hearing involving Lumba’s sister, invocation of the ‘Great Oath’

0

The Manhyia Palace has deferred the hearing of a case involving a relative of Daddy Lumba for invoking the Great Oath of the Asantehene.

In Asante custom and tradition, cases involving the Great Oath must be resolved at the Manhyia Palace, as courts are not empowered to handle them.

The Lumna family was summoned to appear before the palace for resolution on Monday, November 3, 2025.

However, the Manhyia Palace hearing was rescheduled as a result of a pending court case awaiting a verdict.

It will be recalled that Ernestina Akosua Bimpomaa invoked the Great Oath of the Asantehene during a court hearing on Tuesday, October 28, 2025.

The sister of highlife legend Daddy Lumba invoked the Otumfuo’s Great Oath, demanding that the family head investigate the cause of the musician’s death before proceeding with his burial.

She warned that if the family fails to act, the oath will take effect against those responsible.

In a separate interview, Ernestina Fosu on Adum TV after her court appearance on 28 October 2025, vowed to block his burial until the cause of death is known.

She stated, “The funeral will not be held on 6 December. We did not file for an injunction because we are insane. We still do not know what killed my brother. We cannot allow people to rush his funeral”.

She further alleged that some members of the funeral committee are exploiting her brother’s death for financial gain.

“Some people have taken deals. They signed a contract with Flora Tissue and kept two billion for themselves; that’s why they are in such a hurry,” she alleged.

Her comments come following the  Kumasi High Court threw out an injunction application filed by the wife of the late Daddy Lumba, Akosua Serwaa Fosuh, to halt the highlife legend’s burial and funeral arrangements.

Her Ladyship Dorinda Smith Arthur presiding,  on the case ruled that, under Ghanaian customary law, the family holds the right to make decisions regarding a deceased person’s remains.

Meanwhile, the family head of the late Daddy Lumba’s family, Abusuapanyin Kofi Owusu, has vented his anger at journalists, bloggers, and media personalities.

According to Abusuapanyin Kofi Owusu, he is not happy as journalists, bloggers, and media personalities keep insulting him every day because of the legendary musician’s funeral.

He asserted that following the legal disputes surrounding his late brother’s funeral began he has been at the receiving end of many insults from the media.

Speaking to reporters after the Kumasi High Court dismissed an injunction of Akosua Serwaa, Abusuapanyin Kofi Owusu stated, “I’m not happy at all. Some of these young media people insult me every day because of this funeral issue. I could be old enough to be their father, yet they speak with no respect. They should stop insulting an old man who is the head of a family”.

“The court has given my family and me the green light to organise the funeral, and at this point, no one can stop us. We will work together to give my brother a befitting burial,” he declared.

“Decorum and respect must guide how people report on family issues,” he added.

Kevin Okyere to be extradited to the UK to face an alleged US$94m fraud case

0

Kevin Okyere, the Chief Executive Officer of Springfield Exploration and Production Limited (SEP), is reportedly set to be extradited to the UK to face an alleged US$94 million fraud case following reports of his arrest in Dubai.

According to reports, Dubai authorities are preparing to extradite Kevin Okyere to the United Kingdom after he allegedly failed to honour a court summons.

Kevin Okyere, who holds UK citizenship, allegedly ignored multiple court orders.

Ghana Chronicles in a post stated, “Reports suggest that Dubai authorities are preparing to extradite Kevin Okyere to the United Kingdom after he allegedly failed to honour a court summons over a US$29.3 million petrol cargo dispute involving EDURC Company DMCC. The shipment, valued at US$29,321,064.51, was reportedly discharged at Tema, Ghana.

Mr Okyere, who holds UK citizenship, allegedly ignored multiple court warnings to appear and prove his innocence by September 3, 2025, prompting the issuance of a bench warrant for his arrest”.

They further added, “There are several claims regarding the circumstances of Mr Okyere’s arrest, with some asserting he was en route to Paris, France, on an Emirates Airlines flight when Dubai police detained him upon landing for a transit stop on Friday night.

Other reports claimed that Kevin Okyere had quietly flown out of Accra the previous night to meet with a senior official from a major oil company to discuss a prospective partnership with Lukoil, as well as with officials from Ghana’s Ministry of Energy. However, what was meant to be a discreet business meeting in the Gulf rapidly escalated into a diplomatic and legal storm”.

Mr Okyere’s arrest is in connection with what is described as a “systematic and orchestrated economic crime” involving nearly US$93 million allegedly perpetrated by Springfield Exploration & Production Limited and GMP Energy Limited, both Ghanaian oil companies, along with their senior executives.

In June 2025, the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) and the Criminal Investigation Department of the Ghana Police here received a petition Swiss energy trader, Petraco investigate and prosecute Mr Kevin Okyere.

According to the petition, dated 16 May 2025 and signed by Alberto G. Salsiccia, Chief Financial Officer of Petraco Oil Company SA, Springfield, GMP Energy, and their key officers, Kevin Okyere, Geena Malkani Punjabi, and Emmanuel Ansah Bernasko are conducting a sophisticated fraud scheme through “calculated deception and abuse of business relationships” in Ghana’s petroleum sector.

The petition stated that Kevin Okyere-led Springfield and GMP, together with its collaborators, committed a petroleum products fraud totalling over US$30 million, and a unitisation loan fraud amounting to at least US$63 million.

Meanwhile, the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) has clarified the probe into Mr Kevin Okyere.

EOCO, in its statement, clarified that the claim made by the news portal Norvanreport.com that Kevin Okyere was arrested because EOCO failed to act on a petition is false.

According to EOCO, there are two active investigations involving  Mr Kevin Okyere, the promoter of Springfield Energy.

On Sunday, November 2, 2025, EOCO, in a statement read, “The Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) has taken notice of a publication by online news portal “Novareport” alleging that one Kevin Okyere, CEO and promoter of Springfield Energy, has been arrested and or detained in Dubai following what the news portal claims is EOCO’s failure to act on a petition alleging defrauding by false pretense.

Contrary to the claims made by Novareport, EOCO has two active investigations involving Springfield Energy. The first is a petition against Springfield Energy, and the second is an explosive case between BOST and Springfield Energy. It is the policy directive of the leadership of EOCO that investigations must precede arrest and not the reverse”.

They added, “We wish to emphasise that the case involving BOST and Springfield is of priority to EOCO due to its immediate impact on BOST’s finances and the local economy.

Though EOCO does not comment on active investigations, it is regrettable that Novareport did not seek clarification from EOCO before running the false story.

EOCO assures the public that it is committed to investigating and prosecuting economic and organised crimes in Ghana. And we will continue to work diligently to achieve our mandate.

We urge the public to disregard the false claims made by Novareport and to note that EOCO is actively working on not one, but two investigations involving Springfield Energy”.

“Put your money in assets; it’s better than the bank” – Cheddar advises

0

Nana Kwame Bediako, also known as Cheddar, a Ghanaian businessman and real estate mogul, has advised aspiring entrepreneurs to put their money in assets.

According to Cheddar, putting money in assets is sometimes better than in the bank.

Nana Kwame Bediako made this known when he was captured during a  brief street interview with The Venture Room.

Cheddar also disclosed some untapped global investment opportunities, particularly in Africa, where low-income housing, the industrial sector and real estate are goldmines.

Speaking during the interview, when asked about his line of work, he replied briefly, “Real estate.”

He described it as “a lucrative business,” but declined to disclose how much he has earned from it.

He advised, “If there is any advice I can give to people, put your money in assets. Sometimes it’s better than the bank”.

“If you want to invest in industry, I would say that Africa has the most critical minerals, petrochemicals, and all of that to invest in the industrial sector. If you want to invest in hotels, the best place is Europe because they have high tourism. If you want to invest in low-income housing, then it is Africa.”

“Everybody wants to be rich and successful, but first of all, you need to see how you can add value to people and society. By that, you’ll be significantly recognised,” he said.

In related news, renowned Ghanaian Prophet Telvin Sowah has said the leader of New Force, Nana Kwame Bediako, will be the president of Ghana.

Prophet Telvin Sowah, speaking on Ghana’s political future, made this revelation but did not disclose any timeline for his prophecy.

He confidently stated that Nana Kwame Bediako will one day become Ghana’s president.

Speaking on Accra FM in a video shared on TikTok, Prophet Telvin Sowah detailed, “Nana Kwame Bediako will become the president of Ghana; it is merged in time, Kennedy Agyapong will team up with Alan Kyeremanten to shake the NPP for 2032 and in that condition, they will still lose the elections”.

In other news, Ghanaian businessmen Daniel McKorley, popularly known as McDan, and Richard Nii Armah-Quaye have been cleared of any wrongdoing by the Financial Intelligence Centre (FIC).

The two Ghanaian businessmen have been cleared following detailed investigations into their financial transactions.

It will be recalled that the Financial Intelligence Centre (FIC) in March 2025 froze the accounts of the two entrepreneurs as part of a wider inter-agency probe into alleged financial irregularities.

According to FIC, the decision was taken in accordance with Section 56(1) of the Anti-Money Laundering Act, 2020.

After months of scrutiny, the FIC has unfrozen the accounts, restoring their full access to funds.

This was revealed by the Chief Executive Officer of the FIC, Kwadwo Twum Boafo, in an interview with Accra-based GHOne television.

Ing. Kwadwo Twum Boafo, in an interview with GHOne TV, stated, “McDan’s issue has been resolved. That is why I keep saying we don’t do personal vendettas. You can speak with him… His accounts are unfrozen.

“The accounts of Richard Nii Armah-Quaye were frozen, but they have been unfrozen now because there was a determination that there was no need for it to go forward,” Ing. Boafo said.

Ing. Kwadwo Twum Boafo detailed that both men cooperated fully with investigators during the process.

He explained, “He came here, sat down with us and gave a thorough explanation of what he does, and there was no problem. We deal with people fairly, there are no personal vendettas”.

He further detailed that the probe into the two Ghanaian businessmen was not politically motivated or targeted at specific individuals but was guided strictly by evidence and due process.
