0

The Headmaster, Mr Isaac Dunkwa of Prevailing Academy in the Western Region has been arrested for allegedly impregnating an underage student.

According to reports, he attempted to conceal the act by persuading a male student to take responsibility for the pregnancy in order to evade legal consequences.

A JHS graduate of the school speaking in the  video stated, “I was called by the headteacher to come to his house one Saturday. He told me there was a serious issue. He had impregnated a girl, and I was asked to take responsibility so that it could be settled at home.

I later called the girl’s family, and her father invited me to his house. Later, I heard the teacher had been arrested at the Sekondi Police Station. He was later granted bail”.

The female student further alleged that the headteacher, who sexually abused her on several occasions, tried to abort the pregnancy.

“He took me to a pharmacy and got some drugs, he asked me to swallow the pills, and also insert some,” she stated in the viral video.

In related news, the Ghana Education Service (GES) has interdicted yet another teacher for alleged sexual misconduct at the Okadjakrom Senior High Technical School in the Jasikan Municipality of the Oti Region.

Mr Mfo Richard Tibetor has been interdicted by the GES for alleged sexual misconduct involving a female student.

The GES, in a statement on Thursday, October 2, announced it had taken note of a viral video being circulated on social media implicating Mr Tibetor.

The Ghana Education Service (GES) declared the teacher’s conduct as unacceptable, unethical, and a violation of the professional teachers’ code of conduct.

Mr Mfo Richard Tibetor has been interdicted and barred from entering the school premises.

The statement signed by the Head of Public Relations at GES, Daniel Feny, highlighted the Service’s obligation to ensure discipline, professionalism, and child protection.

In related news, the Ghana Education Service (GES) has removed Charles Akwasi Aidoo, Assistant Headmaster (Academic) of KNUST Senior High School, after a viral video showed him in a compromised position with a female student.

According to the GES, Mr Charles Akwasi Aidoo has been barred from entering the school premises while investigations are ongoing.

The GES also assured Ghanaians that due process will be followed and that any disciplinary action taken will be in line with the GES code of conduct.

The GES, in a statement signed by  Head of Public Relations Daniel Fenyi, reads, “ The attention of the Management of the Ghana Education Service (GES) was drawn to a viral video circulating on social media, allegedly involving Mr Charles Akwasi Aidoo, the Assistant Headmaster (Academic) of KNU ST Senior High School, in a compromised position with a female student.

Management views the matter with utmost seriousness. In line with our commitment to safeguarding the integrity of the teaching profession and ensuring the safety and welfare of students under our care, Mr Aidoo has already been removed from office and prohibited from going to the school while thorough investigations are being carried out.

“Management assures the general public, stakeholders, parents, and students that due process will be followed, and the appropriate disciplinary action will be taken in accordance with the code of conduct of the Ghana Education Service.

The GES remains committed to upholding the highest standards of professionalism, discipline, and child protection in all our schools. We strongly condemn any acts that compromise the safety, dignity, and well-being of students”, the GES statement added.

“I’m still wondering why Wontumi called me” – Deputy CEO of Forestry Commission

0

Elikem Kotoko, the Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the Forestry Commission, has narrated a phone call he received from the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi Boasiako, commonly known as Chairman Wontumi.

The Deputy CEO of Forestry Commission revealed that Wontumi’s phone call came shortly after security officials busted people engaging in illegal mining at Samreboi in the Western Region, a site belonging to Akonta Mining Limited.

Speaking in an interview on Joy Prime, Elikem Kotoko recalled, “I’m still wondering why Chairman Wontumi called me one day after the Samreboi incident, something I never spoke about. (Wontumi said) ‘Hello, Elikem, this is Chairman Wontumi.’ I said, ‘Aha’”.

Elikem Kotoko added, “Oo, Elikem, why are you doing this to me? Your boss is my friend. When are you going to come to Kumasi so we can sit and talk?”

“What was he calling me for? I never said this anywhere, but I’ve decided… he has never called me, not even when I won my elections”, he added.

Elikem Kotoko added that he is not surprised by the legal challenges Wontumi is facing because he was alleged to be a kingpin in the galamsey menace.

“Who didn’t know that if you want to mention names, he was one of the number one people who probably was perceived to be leading people into the forest, into the places, because he saw himself as the greatest kingpin and all — nobody comes through the mine except through me, Wontumi,” he said.

Meanwhile,  Chairman Wontumi was released from police custody some weeks ago after three nights.

The Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) released comes after he fulfilled bail conditions amounting to GH₵25 million imposed across two separate illegal mining cases.

Wontumi, on Tuesday, October 7, was granted a ₵25 million bail by the Criminal Division of the Accra High Court in connection with two separate cases relating to alleged illegal mining.

Chairman Wontumi and the Operations Manager of Akonta Mining Company Limited were granted bail in the sum of GHC10 million with two sureties.

The two sureties, one must be justified with proof of landed property.

Wontumi and Akonta Mining have been accused of destroying 13 hectares of land in the Tano Nimiri forest.

The NPP Ashanti Regional Chairman pleaded not guilty to all seven charges levelled against him.

Chairman Wontumi was slapped with seven fresh charges, which stem from his alleged mining in Tano Nimire Forest Reserve in the Western Region.

The charges come barely after he appeared in a separate case.

In this case, Wontumi and four others associated with his Akonta Mining Company Limited are facing the accusations of unlawfully engaging in mining operations, environmental destruction.

Additionally, the Accra High Court has granted Wontumi a ₵15 million bail with three sureties in a separate case.

According to the court, Wontumi’s sureties must be justified with landed properties.

The presiding judge, Justice Audrey Kocuvie-Tay, granted Wontumi bail on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, after hearing arguments from Wontumi’s lawyer, Andy Appiah-Kubi, and the Deputy Attorney General, Dr Justice Srem-Sai.

Andy Appiah-Kubi urged the court to grant bail, insisting that his client posed no flight risk; however, Dr Srem-Sai, who did not oppose, called on the court to impose stringent conditions given the gravity of the charges.

He argued, “Gold mining is a capital-intensive business, and by their own admission, the accused is a man of substance. It is common knowledge that persons of substance are often greater flight risks”.

Wontumi was granted a GHC 15 million bail bond, three sureties, two of whom must justify with landed property within the court’s jurisdiction.

He is also to deposit all passports with the court registrar; he has also been placed on the Ghana immigration stop list at all entry and exit points.

Also, Wontumi must report to investigators on the first and third Monday of every month.

The Accra High Court gave the prosecution three weeks to file disclosures.

Meanwhile, the next hearing is scheduled for October 28, 2025.

Initiate a trial in absentia against Ken Ofori-Atta – Kpebu tells OSP

0

Martin Kpebu, a private legal practitioner, has told the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) to initiate a trial in absentia against former finance minister Ken Ofori-Atta.

Speaking in an interview on Joy FM, Mr Kpebu stated, “That’s how come for me, I said this is his [Ofori-Atta’s] country. He has some properties here, so let’s start. If we start and he doesn’t come, then the trial will go on without him.

“Let’s do the processes. Take the offer. Have you gone to Ofori-Atta to take his statement in America, and he says no? He says he will do it. So let’s do it. Then we can start the trial here,” he added.

He explained, “Article 19 clause 3 simply says that if you know there is a criminal case against you and you don’t appear, the trial can proceed in your absence”.

In related news, Dr Justice Srem-Sai, the Deputy Attorney General, has revealed that the Office of the Attorney General has still not received dockets from the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) for the extradition of former finance minister Ken Ofori-Atta.

According to Dr Justice Srem-Sai, the AG’s office has written multiple letters to the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP), requesting more than two months now.

He revealed that the Attorney General’s Department is the only authority that can initiate and make an extradition request.

Speaking in a yet-to-be aired interview with Accra-based GHOne TV, Dr Srem-Sai stated, “Mr. Ken Ofori-Atta is the subject of several criminal investigations. I think the most well-known is the one being conducted by the OSP, which we are made to believe is at an advanced stage where extradition may be required.

Indeed, the OSP has already put a Red Alert notice on him. But the INTERPOL alert is not an extradition procedure. If we really want the person to come, formal steps must be taken,” he said.

He further detailed, “I want to make this clear; we [the Attorney General’s Department] are the only authority that can initiate and make an extradition request, but we need the investigative docket from the OSP to do so. As of today, we still don’t have the docket, despite sending several requests, including written letters and formal demands”.

“It’s been two months, and we still have not received the docket from the OSP. Without the docket, you cannot approach the American authorities to initiate the extradition,” Dr Srem-Sai said.

It will be recalled that the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP), Kissi Agyebeng, declared Ken Ofori-Atta a fugitive for failing to appear for interrogation into corruption-related investigations.

Ken Ofori Atta has been accused of causing financial loss to the state in several dealings, including the construction of the famous National Cathedral and Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA’s) – Strategic Mobilisation Ghana Ltd (SML), Termination of a contract between the Electricity Company of Ghana Limited and Beijing Xiao Cheng Technology (BXC) for the Distribution and Ambulance Procurement: A Ministry of Health contract with Service Ghana Auto Group Limited.

Kissi Agyebeng, in a press conference, stated, “On 24th January 2025, the OSP communicated to Mr Ofori-Atta that the OSP considered him a suspect, in respect to four of the cases described above. Mr Ofori-Atta was directed to attend in person at OSP on Monday, 10th February 2025, at 10GMT for an interview”.

By communication dated 31 January 2025, Mr Ofori-Atta instructed his lawyers to inform the OSP that he was out of the jurisdiction indefinitely on medical grounds and that the firm would notify the OSP of his arrival in the country in need of rescheduling his personal attendance at the OSP.

Further, the firm offered its willingness to provide the OSP with any information the OSP may require,” he noted.

“The fugitive’s name is Kenneth Nana Yaw Ofori Atta. Mr Ofori-Atta is 66 years old. He was the minister of Finance of the republic between 2017 and 2024. Mr Ofori-Atta left the jurisdiction on or around 2 January 2025. On 24th January 2025, the OSP communicated to Mr Ofori-Atta that the OSP considered him a suspect in respect to four of the cases above. Mr Ofori-Atta was asked to attend in person on Monday, 10th February 2025, at 10GMT for an interview…Mr Ofori-Atta instructed his lawyers to inform the OSP that he was out of the jurisdiction indefinitely on medical grounds…”

On June 13, 2025, Mayo Clinic in the United States revealed Ken Ofori-Atta has been diagnosed with prostate cancer and is expected to undergo surgery on June 13, 2025.

The wife, Prof. Mrs Angela Ofori-Atta, in the statement dated June 16, 2025, explained that Mr Ofori-Atta successfully underwent the surgery for prostate cancer at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, on Friday, June 13, and lasted over four hours.

“The doctors are pleased with how the procedure went and will now place him on a postoperative regime,” she added.

“Kenneth has always been resilient. But this has been very difficult; with the OSP choosing the period just before his surgery to declare a red alert on him,” she said.

She further gave a possible timeline by which her husband would be able to honour the invitation by the Special Prosecutor to appear before his outfit in person.

According to Prof Mrs Angela Ofori-Atta, after a successful surgery on June 13, Mr Ofori-Atta would require about 3 months to recover fully.

Mr Ofori-Atta failed to appear before the OSP for an investigative interview scheduled for Monday, June 2, 2025.

The OSP later issued a notice placing Ken Ofori-Atta on the INTERPOL Red Alert Notice database, but despite the notice, the former finance minister is still at large.

Watch Kristo Asafo Church jubilate after witnessing a rainbow during Apostle Safo 40th-day observation

0

A viral video has emerged of Members of the Kristo Asafo Mission Church in jubilation after witnessing a rainbow circling the sun during the 40th-day observation of their late founder and leader, Apostle Kwadwo Safo.

According to the members of the Kristo Asafo Mission Church, the rainbow signifies the presence of their late leader.

In the viral video, the Kristo Asafo Church was spotted shouting and jubilating over claims of witnessing a rainbow.

In related news, a former member of the Kristo Asafo Church has called on Church members to wake up, as the late Apostle Dr Kwadwo Safo was not God.

According to the lady, she was once a member of this church and deeply involved in this idolatry.

She revealed they prayed through him instead of through Jesus.

The former member of the Kristo Asafo Church urged members to repent as the Kingdom of God is at hand, adding that Jesus alone is the way, the truth, and the life.

Speaking in a viral video following the death of Apostle Dr Kwadwo Safo the lady stated, “I deeply empathise with you over the passing of Apostle Dr Kwadwo Safo, but you must wake. Apostle Dr Kwadwo Safo was not God. The reason why I am so passionate about speaking about this today, idolatry,  I was part of this church, I worshipped him.

In fact, I remember that, growing up, when I was sick in any part of my body, we were taught to take a picture of Apostle Dr Kwadwo Safo, fetch a glass of water, put this picture on the glass of water and pray to Apostle Kwadwo Safo to heal us, we believed he was a god, we believe he was the survivor”.

She further added, “Today, on his passing, I am led to make this video to encourage you to find a church; you need Jesus Christ; he is the only one true God. Jesus died, but on the third day he rose again, and Apostle Dr Kwadwo Safo has died now, and he will not resurrect.

I have seen some videos about reincarnation. People are saying he would reincarnate. I am sorry, it is nonsense.

Apostle Dr Kwadwo Safo is dead. He was human, he was flesh just like you and I, he was not a God. The fact that he had some wisdom to be able to make some technological inventions did not mean he was God”.

She further added that there are so many branches of the Kristo Asafo Church all over the world, and her heart bleeds, “For the thousands of people going to hell because they believe the lie that Apostle Dr Kwadwo Safo was God, please wake up. I am pleading with you, give your life to Christ and repent from this idolatry”.

The lady’s remarks follow Osebo the Zaraman, who claims that praying to Safo Kantanka (Apostle Dr Kwadwo Safo) is more powerful than through Jesus Christ.

BOMB – AG’s office yet to receive docket from OSP to initiate Ken Ofori-Atta’s extradition

Meanwhile, Abraham Koomson, the Secretary General of the Ghana Federation of Labour (GFL), has quizzed the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) on how the former finance minister, Ken Ofori-Atta, is still roaming the streets of America despite being declared wanted.

According to Abraham Koomson, the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) must sit up as it is baffling and disappointing that Ofori-Atta, who has been declared a fugitive, continues to move freely in the United States.

Mr Koomson warned the OSP that selective or inconsistent enforcement would erode public trust in Ghana’s anti-corruption institutions.

Speaking on Ahotor FM on Abraham Koomson stated, “If someone is truly declared wanted, will he have the freedom to roam the streets of America? The OSP has said this man is wanted. Even though he is not guilty yet, he must return and testify. I will call on the OSP to sit up”.

“The OSP must show seriousness and fairness in its work. Ghanaians are watching, and confidence in our justice system depends on equal treatment for everyone,” he added.

His comments come after Ken Ofori-Atta was spotted on the streets of the United States walking with his wife, Professor Angela Ofori-Atta.

Ken Ofori-Atta was on the left, wearing a black suit jacket, white shirt, black trousers, and carrying a light-coloured backpack, with his wife wearing a dark outfit.

According to reports, the photo of Ofori-Atta and his wife was taken in the United States.

It will be recalled that the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP), Kissi Agyebeng, declared Ken Ofori-Atta a fugitive for failing to appear for interrogation into corruption-related investigations.

This is huge, even Nkrumah’s Independence Day crowd cannot match ShattaFest – Sonnie Badu

0

Renowned preacher and gospel artiste Sonnie Badu has praised the Dancehall musician Shatta Wale’s unprecedented crowd at his ShattaFest.

Sonnie Badu highlighted that, not even Dr Kwame Nkrumah’s historic Independence Day celebration can match the massive crowd at Shatta Wale’s birthday concert.

In a post on Instagram, Sonnie Badu wrote, “It’s never happened in the history of Ghana, not even on the day of our independence with Dr Kwame Nkrumah. This is huge. @shattawalenima needs to be studied.

We all go throw money for ground, feed the streets, and they got your back. Paaa paaa paaa! I think Ghana is evolving and soon we will take the centre stage again,” he wrote.

Meanwhile, the ShattaFest 2025 was a night to celebrate Ghanaian Dancehall icon Shatta Wale as he marked his 41st birthday on October 18, 2025.

Fans from various parts of Ghana crowded the Independence Square in Accra on October 18, 2025, to spend the night with the artiste as he and various other Ghanaian musicians treated the audience to hit songs.

A star-studded lineup, including Sarkodie, Samini, Wendy Shay, Medikal, Kelvynboy, Amerado, DarkoVibes, Tinny, JZyNo, Kwame Yogot, and DopeNation, among several others, featured during the ShattaFest.

Additionally,  Shatta Wale’s Public Relations Officer, Sammy Flex, has clarified that no equipment was stolen.

Speaking in an interview on Hitz FM on October 20, 2025, Sammy Flex stated, “The numbers were crazy, especially around the stage, and everybody was struggling for space. I think out of that struggle, they pulled out the cords or wires from the monitors.

So, at a point, most of the monitors went off because there were no cables connected to them. I’m sure when it started getting that serious, the sound engineers and technicians tried to mobilise and reorganize all the monitors on the stage”.

He added, “That’s why the MC was talking about it, because we wanted to continue the show after that small hold-up. We were trying to bring everything back, but even at that point, it was very tough.

The crowd wouldn’t listen or move back. We even thought that the hold-up would reduce the numbers, but it didn’t change anything. So we had no option but to continue with the performance,” he explained.

Kennedy Agyapong vows to relocate key ministries from Accra to various regions

0

Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, a  New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer aspirant, has vowed to relocate key ministries from Accra to various parts of the country.

According to Kennedy Agyapong, his proposal is aimed at shifting the administrative and economic structure of the country by empowering regions to manage major sectors of the economy.

He highlighted that decentralisation should no longer be a political slogan but a thoughtful effort to move government, employment opportunities and infrastructure development to all regions.

The former lawmaker detailed that ministries would be relocated based on the natural strengths of each region.

He revealed plans to move the Ministry of Food and Agriculture to the northern part of the country to take advantage of its fertile lands and livestock potential.

Speaking to supporters during his campaign tour of Salaga North, Mr Agyapong said, “For decades, successive governments have spoken about decentralisation without taking bold steps to make it happen. The result has been unequal development, congestion in Accra, and the slow death of towns that once had economic promise.”

“With the ministry and its agencies located there, the north would attract direct investment in agricultural processing, storage, and mechanisation, creating jobs and reducing poverty,” he said.

He added, “With its mountains, waterfalls, beaches, and rich cultural heritage, the Volta Region has all it takes to become a major tourism and creative arts hub.

“It makes no sense for young people from every region to move to Accra simply because that is where the jobs are. When we move ministries, private sector jobs will follow, and towns that are currently ignored will come alive again.”

Ken Agyapong further explained, “With digital management, video conferencing, and data integration, ministries can function effectively regardless of their location”.

“True unity is built when citizens feel that government works for them no matter where they live,” he noted.

In related news, Kennedy Agyapong, has said Ghana is not poor but poor in leadership.

He asserted that in Ghana, the same people come around telling us to vote for them, but have failed to deliver.

Speaking in a recent interview in the Upper West Region, Ken Agyapong stated, “You are not poor; you are poor in leadership. And these same people will come and tell you, ‘Vote for Mr A,’ and they cannot change your life.

Kennedy Agyapong emphasised that Ghana need a businessman who will come and create industries.

He added, “You need a businessman who will come and create industries, at least in the five northern regions. I’m going to move two ministries to the five northern regions. The first one, I know, will go to Tamale — because of the Tamale Airport. And I’m sure, because you have the airstrip (Upper West Region), whatever you have here, we have to turn it into a proper airport so that we can send our produce to the European market, UK market, and the rest with cargo planes”.

He further heaped praises on the President of Burkina Faso, Captain Ibrahim Traoré, for the development he is bringing to his country.

“We are closer to Burkina. Go and see what the young man is doing. Are you saying he’s a better human being than us? No, but he loves his country, that is all. He’s sacrificing his life for Burkina Faso. Do we have the same people here?” he quizzed.

Bawumia gaining ground among disgruntled NPP voters – Global InfoAnalytics

0

The Global InfoAnalytics, in their new poll, have revealed that Dr Mahamudu Bawumia is regaining ground among disgruntled NPP voters who switched allegiance in the 2024 general elections.

On Monday, October 20, the Global InfoAnalytics poll indicated that 63 per cent of disgruntled NPP voters in the Ashanti Region who voted for President John Dramani Mahama now prefer Dr Bawumia to lead the NPP.

The poll also revealed 39 per cent of this group also expressed renewed confidence in Dr Bawumia compared to Kennedy Ohene Agyapong’s 36 per cent.

“The fact that a majority of those who turned away in 2024 are now returning to support Dr Bawumia demonstrates his enduring appeal and credibility,” the report noted.

Dr Bawumia’s resurgence in the Ashanti Region will prove positive in strengthening unity and boosting morale ahead of the NPP’s presidential primaries.

The Global Info also announced that the beginning of its October 2025 delegates’ polls to assess whether there has been a shift in allegiance or voters remain keen on voting for Dr Bawumia.

Meanwhile, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, a New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer hopeful, has vowed to regularly engage with the party’s grassroots if elected president of Ghana.

The former vice president pledged to make grassroots participation a central part of his presidency by holding annual constituency meetings.

According to him, as the President, he would bring governance closer to the people through direct and consistent grassroots engagement.

Speaking to delegates on the first day of his tour of the Bono Region, where he visited the Banda, Tain, and Wenchi constituencies, Dr Bawumia stated, “If I am elected President, I will make time to regularly engage with the party’s grassroots”.

“Just as former President Kufuor did, I will dedicate at least one day each year to meet directly with members at the constituency level through town-hall-style meetings.”

“These interactions will allow me to listen to your concerns firsthand and work on them. This is how we will stay connected, and I will ensure that as President, your voices are heard and your issues are addressed.”

Also, in an earlier engagement, Dr Bawumia promised to introduce a constituency-based budgeting framework under his leadership.

According to Bawumia, the new proposal will overhaul Ghana’s budgeting system, which will be a more local approach to development financing.

Speaking to some NPP members in the Ashanti Region on Thursday, September 11, 2025, Dr Bawumia explained, “I am bringing a new idea to Ghana. I want to transform our current framework into a constituency-based budgeting framework.

With this, every constituency will be featured in the budget, and the management of that budget will come at the constituency level”.

Dr Bawumia highlighted that the proposed system would ensure development funds and contracts are directly tied to constituencies, which will enhance transparency, accountability, and impact.

“So, when we are awarding a contract, you will know that it is coming straight to your constituency so that you manage it from there. That will help elevate each constituency to drive development for all of us,” Dr Bawumia asserted.

Video – Haruna Iddrisu engages first-year students who raise concerns about their programmes

Haruna Iddrisu, the Minister of Education, during his visit to the Presbyterian Boys’ Secondary School, Legon (PRESEC-Legon), was spotted engaging first-year students who raised concerns about their programmes of study.

The first-year students raised concerns about the Computerised School Selection and Placement System changing their program of choice.

Also, the Minister for Education has boldly admitted that the Computerised placement system is not working well for Ghana.

The Education Minister promised to review the Computerised School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS).

Speaking during his visit to the Presbyterian Boys’ Secondary School (PRESEC), Legon, on Monday, October 20, Haruna Iddrisu acknowledged that some parents and students are unhappy with the school placement.

The education minister speaking to the media stated, “I have observed that some parents are unhappy, justified. Some students are unhappy, justified, because they chose a particular course, Science, and were given General Arts or Business. That would be a disincentive even for that child to study hard and do his best.”

“It means that the computerised placement system is not working well for the country, and I’m happy to review it, and I will review it,” he said.

He further revealed, “I’ll put in place a committee to review its performance over the decade, and then give me a credible alternative. What we need is meritorious admission. Nobody would accept that you get an Aggregate 6, and you can’t get the spot of your first choice. That’s unfair, and we’ll look very closely into that.”

“My understanding, as I’ve gone around this morning, is, we need to manage the crisis in the provision of quality Free Senior High School in Ghana. To manage it will mean deliberate, sustainable investment in education, expanded classrooms, expanded laboratories, expanded dormitories for the learners.”

The Education Minister also commended the contributions of alumni and religious institutions in supporting educational development.

He added, “What I’ve also particularly noticed is the role of old boys, old students, in supporting the state. I recognise a strong bond, a relationship between the church and the state, in providing quality education. And for our purposes today, the Presbyterian Church, I want to salute them and pay tribute to them.”

“From Odumase now to Accra, Presec have trained many young people, mentioning Okudzeto Ablakwa, Oko Boye, they are all proud students of this school,” he said.

“My assessment here is that classrooms are not adequate, dormitories are not adequate, laboratories are insufficient and not in good shape,” he said.

Additionally, Haruna Iddrisu had revealed plans by the government to reclassify some SHSs to ease pressure on category A schools.

He revealed that the proposal will see 10 Category A schools downgraded to Category B and another 10 Category B schools upgraded to Category A.

“Some people deceived me” – Rev Owusu-Bempah lashes out at Akufo-Addo govt

0

Rev Isaac Owusu-Bempah, the founder of Glorious Word Power Ministry International, has descended heavily on the erstwhile New Patriotic Party (NPP) government led by former President Akufo-Addo.

According to Rev Owusu Bempah, the former Akufo-Addo government deceived him in the past with promises they failed to fulfil.

He highlighted that he did his part of the bargain, but the NPP failed to fulfil their part of the bargain.

Speaking to his congregation on Sunday, October 19, 2025, Rev Owusu-Bempah stated, “Sometime ago, we worked for nothing; we worked in vain. We fasted and prayed for nothing. They reneged on all the promises they made to us. Because of this, we had to make them go home. We needed to put them in a cage; some were pushed into the forest.

“You make a promise to me and fail to keep it. I fulfilled my side of the deal, but you reneged on yours; then the God of David would punish you… When you labour, you must enjoy its fruits,” he said in the Twi dialect.

He added, “Some people deceived me sometime past… This time around, we are not going to suffer for nothing. If you joke, we will push your car into a ditch.”

Rev Owusu Bempah further praised the John Mahama-led government.

According to him, the John Dramani Mahama administration and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) have kept their promises to him.

He added that the NDC government are not like the former NPP government under Akufo-Addo, who locked him up after helping them gain power.

“These people (the current government) are wise. They honour promises. They are not like others I know, who even lock you up in addition,” he said.

In related news, Rev Isaac Owusu-Bempah has dropped a fresh prophecy regarding the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC).

The man of God revealed that the spirit backing the NDC has declined.

According to Rev Owusu Bempah, the NDC risks losing the 2028 general elections if the party does not take immediate steps to rekindle its spiritual backing.

Speaking to his congregation on Sunday, September 28, 2025, Rev Owusu Bempah stated, “I have seen in the spiritual realm that the NDC’s power has dropped. The spirit backing the NDC has declined, the force and power behind the party has diminished, and it is sinking”.

“If they want to rule for two consecutive terms, they must rekindle their power. Otherwise, after President John Mahama’s tenure, they will lose power in 2028”, the man of God warned.

Rev Owusu-Bempah further cautioned the NDC, “They think that any political party that comes to power must enjoy two consecutive terms. But if the NDC follows this pattern, they will be disappointed because I have seen that the power that brought them to power has dropped”.

“Let them mark today’s date and work towards it because if they fail one day, they will admit that I said it exactly as it is”, he added.

He revealed that the proposal will see 10 Category A schools downgraded to Category B and another 10 Category B schools upgraded to Category A.

Speaking at a press briefing at the Ministry on Tuesday, October 14, Haruna Iddrisu explained, “We have close to 393,000 students competing for only 76,000 spaces. The pressure on Category A schools is too high, and this makes placement less fair and transparent”.

The Education Minister added that reclassification will help distribute students more evenly and make the placement system more efficient.

He cited regional inequalities in the distribution of top-tier schools.

“Regions like North East, Savannah, Oti, and Western North have no Category A schools. We intend to deliberately prioritise these areas with infrastructure investments to improve access to quality education,” he explained.

Meanwhile, about 590,000 freshers are reporting to their placed Senior High School (SHS) to begin the 2025/2026 academic year.

“OSP delaying commencement of case with ambush amendments” – Lawyer for Mustapha Hamid

0

One of the lawyers of the former CEO of the National Petroleum Authority (NPA), Mustapha Abdul-Hamid, Akbar Yussif Rohullah Khomeini, has accused the Office of the Special Prosecutor of deliberately attempting to delay the commencement of the NPA case.

In a Facebook post soon after the court proceedings, Akbar Yussif Rohullah Khomeini stated, “We were in court this morning in the matter of the NPA. Interestingly, the OSP has made another surprising amendment to the charge sheet. This is the second time the OSP is delaying the commencement of the case with its ambush amendments.

“At the last hearing on the 26th August, the same thing happened, prompting the judge to remind the OSP that the purported amendment filed on the 20th August, 2025 was not on the court’s records.

“The action by the OSP has effectively destroyed the court’s orders of the 23rd July, 2025 directed at him to file disclosures by the 26th of August and witness statements by the 26th of September, 2025. We are back to zero!”

His comments follow the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP), revealing it has amended the charges against former Chief Executive of the National Petroleum Authority (NPA), Dr Mustapha Abdul-Hamid, and nine others.

According to the OSP statement, the accused persons in the Republic v. Mustapha Abdul-Hamid & 9 Others case has been increased from 25 to 54 following the discovery of new evidence from ongoing investigations.

The accused are alleged to have extorted hundreds of millions of cedis and foreign currency from bulk oil transporters and oil marketing companies under the guise of official duties, and subsequently laundered the proceeds through property acquisitions and business entities to conceal their illicit origins”.

The accused persons are Mustapha Abdul-Hamid, Jacob Kwamina Amuah, Wendy Newman, Albert Ankrah, Isaac Mensah, Bright Bediako-Mensah, Kwaku Aboagye Acquaah, Propnest Limited, Kel Logistics Limited, and Kings Energy Limited.

The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) statement also disclosed assets seized and frozen pending trial, “Vehicles, including tanker trucks, fuel stations, houses, apartments, and parcels of land valued at over GHc100 million”.

Background

Ellen Daaku mocks ‘cry baby’ Lands Minister Kofi Buah

0

Ellen Ama Daaku, a communications officer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has mocked the Minister of Lands and Natural Resources, Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah.

The NPP communicator labelled Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah as a crybaby who held a press conference and cried to Ghanaians.

Speaking on the Despite Media Peace FM, Ellen Darko stated, “This week, I have heard that the Minister of Lands and Natural Resources cry cry minister, Minister Buah, says he needs 10 billion dollars. He needs 120 billion cedis before he can fight galamsey.

Cry, Cry minister, if you need 100 billion, 200 billion, as Ghanaians, we do not care”.

When asked why she keeps referring to the minister as Cry Minister, she stated. “Didn’t he come crying? Did he call a press conference and cry? A minister who calls for a press conference and cries, is this what they use in fighting galamsey?”.

She further added, “This is their fight, I am not interested. They claimed they can do it, so they should fight it”.

Her comments come following Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, who has revealed the staggering potential financial scope of the anti-galamsey effort.

According to the Lands Minister, a comprehensive fight against illegal mining could cost the nation an estimated $10 billion.

The Lands minister is quoted by 3 news to have said, “The fight against galmsey could cost $10 billion”.

Also, Nana Baffour Awuah, the Member of Parliament for Manhyia South, has said the National Democratic Congress (NDC) is fixated on the figure $10 billion.

According to the Manhyia South MP, the NDC keeps repeating the $10 billion for all major projects.

Nana Baffour Awuah highlighted that the Lands minister, rather than being fixated on figures, should direct their attention toward ensuring responsible mining to maximise the country’s economic gains from the extractive sector.

Speaking on JoyNews’ AM Show on Tuesday, October 14, Baffour Awuah stated, “To begin, how did they arrive at that figure? It appears that the NDC seems to be very fixated on the figure 10 billion”.

“Anytime they quote a figure for a project in this country, they are looking for 10 billion dollars — Hope City, 10 billion dollars; Big Push, 10 billion dollars; and now they want 10 billion dollars to fix galamsey.”

He explained, “I am of the view that all we need is to ensure that there is responsible mining and we are getting the economic benefit that we should get from mining”.

“The NDC clearly and obviously has been contradictory, has been inconsistent, and it was all aimed at getting political power. That is all that the picture seems now, and it is obvious,” he added.

Meanwhile, the National Coalition on Mining has boldly told the John Mahama government point-blank that the military and police cannot stop the illegal mining menace (galamsey) facing the country.

According to the  National Coalition on Mining, if the military under former Presidents Kufuour, John Mahama and Akufo-Addo could stop galamsey, Ghana would not be having this conversation today.

They urged the government to adopt a more strategic and sustainable approach if it truly wants to end galamsey.

Speaking in an interview, a member of the Coalition, Emmanuel Ellimah, on Sunday, October 19, recounted past military intervention, saying, “Under former President Kufuor, we had Operation Flashout. During President Mahama’s first term, there was Operation Cowleg. Under President Akufo-Addo, we’ve had Operation Vanguard, Operation Halt One, and Operation Halt Two”.

“If the military could stop galamsey, we wouldn’t still be having this conversation. That’s why we are calling for a shift in the measures being applied to tackle this problem,” he added.

He called for community involvement, regulation of small-scale mining, and enforcement of environmental standards.

Ursula Owusu-Ekuful, the former Communications Minister, has officially declared her intention to contest the New Patriotic Party (NPP) General Secretary position.

In a Facebook post on Monday, October 20, which coincided with her birthday, Ursula Owusu-Ekuful disclosed her intention.

She wrote, “Dearest Patriots, I come to you on this day of my birth with genuine regards. A lot of water has passed under the bridge since our stormy face-off with ourselves and our base.

We came out bruised, our individual and collective egos battered. We lie not in a good place. However, as our great tradition had demonstrated over the years… we will thrive”.

Her post further added, “Scathed, we refuse to be burnt, and in the unlikely circumstance that we set ourselves in a blazing inferno… we will rise. It will shape us, mould us, and like the Phoenix, we will rise and be ready”

“This caretaker NDC government is there not just because they are preferred, they are there because they lied their way into government, amidst lofty promises, and caused belief in us to wane. But we will revive it,” she said.

Ursula Owusu-Ekuful further promised to restore confidence in the NPP, “From the polling stations, through to the electoral areas, constituencies, and regions to the top, we will restore confidence in our party and unity amongst ourselves. That is the only dose we need to boot out this accident-of-a-government”.

She further called for support, saying, “I come to you in all humility, to ask you, dear patriots, to join me on this rescue mission as your next General Secretary”.

Ursula Owusu-Ekuful concluded her message with a call for unity within the party: “Patriots, join me, let us commit to the struggle, for I know with unity and God on our side, as well as the collective will of the Ghanaian people, we shall overcome.”

SHOCK – Young Senegalese goalkeeper kidnapped and killed in Ghana

0

A young Senegalese goalkeeper, Cheikh Touré, has been heartbreakingly killed in Ghana.

According to reports, Cheikh Touré was found dead in Ghana, with the Senegal Ministry of African Integration and Foreign Affairs confirming the news.

Authorities have revealed that the young, talented Senegalese goalkeeper was deceived by fraudsters pretending to be football scouts.

Cheikh Touré was conned by the alleged fraudster acting as a football scout.

Reports suggest the alleged scouts told him that he had been invited to Ghana for a professional trial with a top club.

Upon his arrival, the scammers kidnapped the young goalkeeper and demanded a ransom from his family.

Despite the family of the young man’s desperate attempts to meet the ransom demands, Cheikh’s relatives were unable to pay.

Tragically, the kidnappers ultimately took his life.

Social media users have been left in shock following the heartbreaking death of young Senegalese goalkeeper Cheikh Touré.

Meanwhile, some Ghanaians have reacted to the tragic news, with the majority of X users pointing fingers towards Nigerians, saying, “A Thorough investigation must be done on this tragic incident, Nigerians might be behind it because it’s their trademark”.

“I promise, if the authorities dig deep into this incident, we’ll find that the culprits aren’t even Ghanaians, they’re just hiding here and causing all this. Smh”, a netizen wrote.

One more X user wrote, “This is where the IP address comes in. They should let the police track their numbers”.

“I don’t think it was Ghanaians behind the scam. This won’t pass the square-headed people who have flooded our country. Heartless MFs”, a netizen stated.

Another wrote, “Those of you saying it’s the Nigerians, there was a time crimes like this were rare in Nigeria till the 2010s, when global terrorism and economic decline influenced everything. We denied it at first, too. The world is changing fast; Ghana’s security needs to wake up”.

“NAA THIS UNGHANAIAN. EVERY REASONABLE NIGERIAN WILL CONFIRM THAT IT’S THEIR COUNTRY MEN BEHIND THIS, NOT GHANAIANS”, an X user noted.

I’m hoping the CID department apprehends the perpetrators of this heinous crime. Moreover, I won’t be surprised if we later find out it’s those anago people who did this.

One more netizen added, “Is this not the modus operandi of Nigerian scammers and fraudsters? Since when did kidnapping and abduction become a thing in Ghana?”

Additionally, a Ghanaian on X stated, “Ohh… we trust the Police to bring the perpetrators to book, we all know a hungry Ghanaian will never kidnap his brother for food not to talk of taking his life. This is sad”

“Your artificial cedi manipulation worse and costly” – Miracles Aboagye fights Presidential staffer

0

Dennis Miracles Aboagye, spokesperson for former Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, has tackled Presidential Staffer, Beatrice Annangfio, after she called for an apology from him.

It will be recalled that Dennis Miracles Aboagye once claimed during the Akufo-Addo Bawumia regime that if the NDC were in power, the dollar would have hit GHS25.

With the Ghana cedi now trading around 10.75 to a dollar, Beatrice Annangfio quizzed Dennis Aboagye if he would like to apologise for his statement.

She wrote, “Good evening @DennisMiracles, while we don’t expect a fixed exchange rate under the NDC, we seek relative stability, and we are working towards that.

Would you want to apologise for this statement?”, she quizzed.

In a sharp rebuttal, Miracles Aboagye slammed the NDC government for Artificial Currency Manipulation.

He claimed the government is currently manipulating the dollar with only businesspeople benefiting, while the reduction does reflect in consumer prices..

Miracles Aboagye wrote, “When you achieve stability, I will apologise. For now, we don’t even know what to plan with… the dollar moves from 14.5 in 3 months to 10cedis and then within 5 weeks it moves back from 10cedis to 13 cedis, then you inject another $1billion to move it back from 13 to 10 cedis… that’s what you want an apology for?? Stabilise it, let Ghanaians know what to plan with, then you can ask for apology”.

He added, “You actually think you are doing something productive with the dollar? That’s what you think?? Do you know why only businesses are benefiting from this artificial manipulation and why the reduction doesn’t reflect in consumer prices? It’s Becos the businesses know it’s artificial and they can’t risk reducing their prices, else it goes up again tomorrow and their capital is wiped out. What you are doing to the currency is even worse and costly that it staying at 13… only time will tell..”

Meanwhile, some Ghanaians have reacted, saying, “By the way, if it was that easy for the cedi to be strengthened against the dollar, your useless administration wouldn’t set up a committee to ascertain the depreciation of the cedi.

It doesn’t matter how it’s done, what’s important is that the cedi is doing well against the dollar”.

“I have said this many times, this approach is not sustainable, recruited teachers and nurses haven’t been paid, yer billion of dollars have been pumped into the market to stabilise the dollar, contractors haven’t been paid, isn’t it madness and stupid, to say NDC is forcing, ayoooo”, one netizen wrote.

Additionally, Dr Johnson Asiama, the Governor of the Bank of Ghana, has revealed that the Central Bank occasionally intervene to stabilise the cedi for periods of exceptional market pressure.

The BoG Governor refuted claims that the Central Bank is overstepping its bounds in managing the foreign exchange market.

According to the BoG Governor, the Central Bank’s actions fall within a flexible exchange rate framework aimed only at curbing excessive volatility.

Speaking at the IMF–World Bank Governor Talk Series in Washington, D.C., Dr Asiama explained, “The framework that we have is a flexible exchange rate management framework. Essentially, what we do is smooth excessive volatilities. Yes, there were allegations about whether we were intervening in the market, but that was not exactly the case”

Dr Asiama highlighted that in the second and third quarters of 2025, Ghana undertook several “lumpy” foreign payments, including billions of U.S. dollars to Independent Power Producers (IPPs) and domestic bondholders, adding that at the same time, remittance inflows weakened, draining liquidity from the interbank foreign exchange market.

He added, “In the mix of that, the central bank had to step in. The interbank FX market had dried up, so the central bank had to provide that support”.

“We do not over-support the market at all. What we seek to do is limit volatility to ensure smooth dynamics in the market, and that is the framework we will maintain going forward,” he affirmed.

Also, Dr Johnson Asiama says Ghana’s economy has made a firm recovery after years of instability.

He described Ghana’s economy as being “back on track” following months of policy discipline.

Dr Asiama stated, “We came to meet a challenged economy in the sense that, remember, we had a domestic debt issue in 2022, fiscal policy was highly expansionary. It led to our exiting the international financial market. There was a resort to domestic financing.

“We remember all the sovereign downgrades we had to suffer. We came into office with a lot of liquidity, high inflation, [and an exchange rate that was depreciating widely,” he said.

“And I remember when we came in, there were talks about whether we should cancel the programme altogether, there were doubts as to whether we would be able to carry on the programme.

“But I am happy to say that eight months down the road, we have turned the corner. Ghana is back,” Dr Asiama declared.

The Governor added, “Growth has rebounded, inflation has cooled, and Ghana is now outperforming expectations under the IMF programme. Inflation, which stood at 23.5 per cent in January 2025, has since dropped to 9.4 per cent in September — the first single-digit rate in four years, beating the government’s 11.9 per cent target.”

Watch viral video of MP Suhuyini presenting appointment letters to his constituents

0

A viral video of the Member of Parliament for Tamale North, Alhassan Suhuyini, presenting appointment letters to some constituents has surfaced on social media.

In the viral 30-second video shared on X, the Deputy Roads minister and MP for Tamale North was seated with some constituents, also seated to his right, and others standing.

Alhassan Suhuyini was spotted with some brown and white envelopes in his hand, which he presented to his constituents.

The viral video was shared with the caption, “MP for Tamale North, Alhassan Suhuyini, presented appointment letters (EPA, NADMO) to deserving constituents today.

These form part of his efforts to support human capital development”.

Some Ghanaians have reacted to the viral video, saying, “In times when decency was still a thing, this would have been done behind closed doors, and I wouldn’t have had any problem with it. Why the heck is this on camera?

To tell you and me that opportunity is not in any way associated with equity or equality”.

Another netizen wrote, “Very funny. Coming from someone who was on radio gold back then, ranting about the same thing being perpetuated by politicians”.

“What is sensational here? This isn’t a new norm, nor is it a wayward step to take. Probably the digital equivalent is what might be trending, but there’s absolutely nothing wrong here, and stop making good look like it’s not. Meanwhile, we have seen what your party did”, one more netizen added.

Additionally, an X user wrote, “You guys don’t know what the MPs go through when it comes to employment issues in the constituency. That’s the best, which will serve as a reminder in case they start lying that he doesn’t get his constituent employment”.

“These guys did not do any interview, what dey bore me sef be say de employer sef know see dema faces b4. Governance is too cheap in Ghana. At least I am expecting NDC to elevate the bar small, but it seems the pigs will always return to dirt after cleaning them- politicians”, an X user added.

Alhassan Suhuyini comes at a time when NDC executives and presidential staffers have been talking about their grassroots.

Presidential Staffer, Beatrice Annangfio, appealed to grassroots members of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) to remain calm over delays in appointments.

Speaking on GH Today, she stated, “I keep saying that we have a nation to build – a nation where every citizen will be happy. We also have a party, which serves as a vehicle to help us build that nation and remain in power. It is, therefore, important that the fine balance between the nation and the party is not lost on us. There must be a deliberate and calculated effort to ensure that both the state and the party benefit”.

“Personally, I respond to every text message and answer every call. Sometimes, you meet someone who says, ‘I called you, you didn’t pick up,’ or ‘I sent you a message,’ only to realise they never actually did. As I sit here speaking to you, I have 42 missed calls,” she explained.

She added, “If you visit me on an ordinary day in my office, you’ll see people coming in and out constantly. When they leave, they may not call again, but later around 10 p.m., they send text messages, usually just to empathise with me. So I want to plead with my party members to understand that no one is deliberately neglecting them”.

“People will always come back. I have worked with many individuals during the campaign, and I cannot close my doors to them because, in the next campaign, I might need to work with them again. Some people just don’t know what to say yet, so we must all be patient,” she said.

Also, Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, the National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has urged party members to remain in touch with the electorate.

Speaking during his Thank You Tour, Asiedu Nketia stated, “For some time now, we’ve missed that opportunity because of WhatsApp and Facebook. We think that by communicating on social media, we are reaching everyone. But that is completely different”.

“We must reinstitute the outreach programmes that kept us connected to the people,” he said, adding: “That’s how we can explain policies better, understand their impact on lives and make the necessary adjustments early.”

Watch Ruth Odinga introduce her Ghanian husband and sons during the funeral of Raila Odinga

0

Ruth Busia Adhiambo Odinga, a Kenyan politician and the women’s representative for Kisumu County in the National Assembly, has introduced her Ghanian husband and sons during the funeral of Raila Odinga.

Ruth Odinga is a member of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) and the daughter of Jaramogi Odinga, the first vice president of Kenya.

She is also the sister of both former Prime Minister Raila Odinga and Oburu Odinga.

Speaking at the funeral service of Raila Odinga in Bondo, Ruth Odinga stated, “Many of you do not know I have a right hand, my right hand is here today”.

The husband speaking to the crowd stated, “ I am pleased to be here with special greetings from Ghana and the Busia family and the royal family of Wenchi, to the great man who is lying down there, and I am so pleased to be here, a man who stood for Justice, for the whole of Africa, I am please to be part of this process saying a farewell to one of our finest and greetsest.

He further described Raila Odinga as a “fine person, with the finer mission, and finest mission and a finer vision of our continent”.

Ruth Odinga later introduced her two sons, who later spoke briefly to the people gathered a the funeral service of Raila Odinga in Bondo.

Meanwhile, the former Kenyan Prime Minister Raila Odinga died at the age of 80.

According to a source in Odinga’s office revealed to Reuters on Wednesday, October 15, without giving further details.

An Indian newspaper, Mathrubhumi, had earlier reported that Odinga suffered a cardiac arrest on Wednesday and was rushed to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The late Raila Odinga was undergoing treatment in the southern Indian city of Kochi.

The late Odinga was one of Kenya’s most prominent political figures.

His political career spans decades of democracy activism and five unsuccessful, yet fiercely contested, presidential bids.

Raila Odinga, as an opposition leader, lost all five of his presidential campaigns, with two of the votes leading to chaotic bouts of bloodletting and recrimination a decade apart, which marked his political legacy.

Odinga led mass protests following the disputed 2007 Election, which plunged Kenya into one of its most serious episodes of political violence since gaining independence.

The bloodshed resulted in the deaths of approximately 1,300 people and displaced hundreds of thousands from their homes.

However, his work as a democracy activist over the years helped seal two of the country’s most important reforms: multiparty democracy in 1991 and a new constitution in 2010.

In related crime news, Isaac Arhin, a 27-year-old bus conductor, has confessed to the heinous crime of killing an innocent woman who could be described as a “good Samaritan” unprovoked in her own house.

The chilling details, as recounted by Isaac, have it that he used a pestle to hit the elderly woman’s neck and wrapped her face and head in black polythene after the helpless woman pleaded with him to spare her life.

“I hit her with a pestle, and blood started coming out of her nose. She was an elderly person who was very weak and helpless. She begged me to spare her life so she could give me whatever money I wanted. I cannot sleep now. I have nightmares of the woman begging me to spare her life. I also had dreams where the woman asked me to confess that my master (Evans) is innocent. I have confessed several times, but the police officers are not taking me seriously. I can’t sleep now. The CID officer asked me whether the woman had offended.” Isaac said.

“ I admit I killed the woman alone. I don’t even understand why I did that, because she was taking really good care of me. I wanted to steal some money. After killing her, I stole GHC1500. I knew her mobile money PIN code because she used to send me on errands.” He added, confessing to the Crime Check Foundation’s Ibrahim.

After Isaac was arrested by the Kasoa police and beaten to a pulp to confess who his accomplices were, he named his former master, Evans Mensah, who worked as a bus driver.

Apparently, Isaac implicated his former boss as a way of paying him back for how he manhandled him.

“I implicated Evans Mensah because of the way he treated me when we lived together. I was his bus conductor, and he used to slap me; that’s why I hated and implicated him. He insulted me and threw my belongings out. But he is innocent and has nothing to do with this; the woman has been haunting me in dreams to confess to Evans’ innocence.”

“Regina’s current battle with drugs and alcohol abuse root of our problem” – Ned Nwoko

0

Ned Nwoko, a billionaire politician and businessman, has broken his silence following an alleged domestic violence scandal levelled against him by his actress wife, Regina Daniels.

The Senator’s comments follow a viral video showing his wife, actress Regina Daniels, in distress.

According to Ned Nwoko, Regina Daniels’ current battle with drugs and alcohol abuse is the root of their problem.

In a post shared with a short video on his Instagram handle #princenednwoko on Sunday, he wrote, “Regina was not always like this. Her current battle with drugs and alcohol abuse is the root of our problem.

“She must continue her rehabilitation programme, or I fear for her life and safety,” he wrote.

Ned Nwoko further alleged that his wife, Regina, was on a violent rampage while he was not at home, attacking staff and destroying property

He added, “She slapped and hit three staff in the past 48 hours and destroyed property, including cars and windows, for no just cause.

“Now she has moved to a place where she will have unrestricted access to drugs,” the senator alleged

Nwoko also revealed he had offered his wife two rehabilitation options in Asokoro or Jordan, “where she will not have access to drugs.”

He added, “While I took Moon to the hospital, a scene of chaos unfolded at home, orchestrated by Sammy, Regina’s main drug supplier.

“Another known supplier of drugs to Regina is the tiny evil devil called Ann,” he alleged.

Meanwhile, a viral video online also captured Regina Daniel, visibly agitated and shouting during a confrontation, which has ignited rumours and concerns.

Regina, in the footage, stated, “In Ned Nwoko’s house, I am nothing, but in my own house, I am a Queen. Not again. I can’t stand the violence, it’s too much”.

Ojeogwu Samuel Danhillman, popularly known as Sammy West, the brother of Regina, also wrote, “Anywhere wey man dey beat woman, whether na my sister or not, I go fight with my blood”.

However, the cause of the altercation remains unclear.

Regina Daniels and Ned’s marriage has long drawn public attention and debate following the huge age gap between the two couples.

The actress’s representative is yet to issue an official response to the husband’s claims.

“My brother gave birth to 11 children with four women” – Lumba’s sister

Ernestina Akosua Brimpomaa Fosu, the elder sister of the late Daddy Lumba, has revealed her brother had 11 children with four different women.

She debunked earlier claims from Akosua Serwaa, who suggested Daddy Lumba had 17 children.

Speaking on UTV’s United Showbiz, Ernestina Akosua Brimpomaa Fosu stated, “My brother gave birth to 11 children with four women. Two of the women are now married to other men. Some of the children are in Canada, and they are older.

“Some of the children are still in school, until his demise, he used to send money to his children in Germany”.

She further touched on the ongoing brouhaha regarding funeral arrangements and the cultural rites of Daddy Lumba.

“Akosua Serwaa told the family at a meeting that she wanted to be the only woman who would perform the widowhood rites as demanded by culture. As for me, I did not see anything wrong with her request because I know her as my brother’s legal wife,” she explained.

She lamented, “They wanted to do the funeral without me, Akosua Serwaa and his children, who are abroad”.

“For someone like Charles, he cannot die just like that. He is my brother, and his death has really affected me.

“We used to do everything together. However, when he passed, people were just thinking about his properties. I need to know the actual cause of death before we bury my brother,” she said emotionally.

Meanwhile, the lawyer for Akosua Serwaa’s lawyer, William Kusi, has quizzed Ghanaians about whether a slay queen can be a widow or perform widowhood rites.

William Kusi questioned Odo Broni’s legitimacy, referring to her as a  “slay queen”.

In a viral video shortly after court proceedings, amidst the legal dispute over Daddy Lumba’s widowhood rights, Akosua Serwaa’s lawyer speaking to the media stated, “I ask, can a slay queen be a widow? I’m asking the Akans, can a slay queen perform widowhood rites? So slayqueens and people who snatch other women’s husbands have no business with widowhood rites.”

“Akosuah Serwaa is at peace; she has no problem with anybody. If you even check social media, the people sympathising with Akosua Serwaa are a lot. Anyone who is not a slay queen supports her,” he stated.

Also, the legal team of Daddy Lumba’s wife, Akosua Serwaa, has issued a press release warning the family head of the late musician, Abusuapanin Kofi Owusu, and his associates.

On October 16, 2025, a statement signed by the Fosuh family, Akosua Serwaa, mentioned that the body of the late highlife legend must remain at the Transition Funeral Home in Haatso until the court gives its final ruling on the legal dispute.

Parts of the statement read, “Pending the court’s final determination, no person or group, including Mr Kofi Owusu (the Abusua Panyin) and his associates, has the lawful right to claim or remove the body of the deceased from the Transition Funeral Home in Haatso, Accra. Any such act would amount to a violation of ongoing court proceedings and could attract serious legal consequences”.

“The Fosuh family remains confident that the rule of law will prevail and that the dignity of the late Mr Charles Fosuh will be protected. They also believe that the outcome of this case will serve as an important legal precedent, reinforcing the rights of lawful spouses and women in similar situations across Ghana,” the statement added.

In related news, the High Court in Kumasi has adjourned the hearing of an injunction application filed by Akosua Serwaa, the wife of the late Daddy Lumba, to October 28.

The case was presided over by Her Ladyship Justice Dorinda Smith Arthur.

Akosua Serwaa Fosuh, the wife of the late Daddy Lumba, is seeking a court injunction to halt the funeral, demanding recognition as the sole legal widow and the right to perform traditional rites.

According to court documents, her legal team is contesting the legitimacy of the arrangements, arguing that they were made without her knowledge, consent, or involvement.

“PRAYING this Honourable Court for an Order restraining the Defendants, their agents, assigns, workmen, etc., from either collecting the body of the late CHARLES KWADWO FOSU a.k.a. DADDY LUMBA from the morgue and performing the burial and final funeral rites of the deceased, upon the grounds set out in the accompanying Affidavit,” the writ stated.

However, the Lawyers for the Fosu Royal Family of Parkoso and Nsuta have told Akosua Serwah that Daddy Lumba’s family only recognises Priscilla Ofori, also known as Odo Broni, as the wife of the musician.

According to the lawyers, Akosua Serwaa refused to relocate to Ghana some 15 years with Daddy Lumba for medical treatment.

The Lawyers further revealed that Akosua Serwaa wrote to Daddy Lumba of her intentions to initiate a divorce, and even presented Lumba’s drinks to his family, signifying the dissolution of their marriage.

“If elected President, I will make time to regularly engage with NPP’s grassroots” – Bawumia

0

Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, a New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer hopeful, has vowed to regularly engage with the party’s grassroots if elected president of Ghana.

Additionally, Dr Bawumia has appealed to party delegates not to punish him for the sins of another person.

According to Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, he does not have any issues with any delegates, so they should not attach anyone’s issues to him to destroy him.

Speaking to some NPP delegates, Dr Mahamaudu Bawumia stated, “I want all of you to know, I am the one on the ballot; it is not someone else. Maybe someone has made a mistake against you who is part of my campaign team, don’t let your hatred for him be attached to me, I don’t have anyone issues with you.

Don’t let anyone’s problem be attached to me. If you vote for me, I will come and help you. So, I am begging you, don’t let anyone issues be attached to me to destroy my life. So, give me your vote. I do not have any issue with you. I thank you”, he added.

Officer who slashed ear of innocent pregnant lady promoted by Ghana Police

A police officer with the Ghana Police Service, Clement Suputour, who beat and slashed part of the ear of an innocent pregnant young lady has been promoted to higher ranks Ghana Police Service.

This according to  Crime Check Foundation, an advocacy and philanthropic non-governmental organization (NGO)led by Ibrahim Oppong Kwarteng.

“It is very shocking to that Clement Suputour is walking as a free let alone to even talk of promotion. The Pregnant young lady[Judith Yaa Kumah] was the police station to visit her boyfriend who was arrested. She was later took in for questioning and beaten to pulp by Suputour, slashing part of the ears” Mr Akwarteng lamented.

Mr Kwarteng who was visibly disappointed in the called the service and President of Ghana not to tarnish the human rights reputation of the country.

The unfortunate incident happened last year February 29, 2024, when Kumah was arrested on when she went to the Community One Police Station to visit her boyfriend, who had been arrested but was herself detained.

She was then transferred to the Community Eight Police Station, where Corporal Clement Suputour allegedly attempted to forcibly extract a confession from her.

Despite not being informed of the reason for her arrest or her right to a lawyer, she was questioned about the whereabouts of an individual involved in a crime, which she denied knowing.

During the interrogation, Suputour allegedly cut off the upper part of Judith’s right ear using a metal object.

However, instead of receiving medical care, she was offered marijuana by the officer to alleviate her pain, which she rejected.

After being ordered by a senior officer, Suputour took Judith to the Community Two Police Clinic, which lacked the necessary medical equipment to treat her injuries.

The severed part of her ear was reportedly not kept and has since gone missing.

At the clinic, it was also discovered that Judith was pregnant, but Suputour showed no concern for her condition and instead returned her to the police station for further interrogation.

During her continued detention, Kumah was accused of being involved in a car robbery and was allegedly identified as a woman in CCTV footage related to the robbery.

Suputour then coerced her into signing a confession and threatened to cut off her other ear if she did not comply.

Despite the allegation, when taken to the crime scene, security officers did not identify her, nor was she recognized during an identification parade.

Kumah was eventually charged, but the prosecution failed to present the CCTV footage as evidence in court, leading to her discharge.

Judith Yaa Kumah , has since has filed a lawsuit seeking GH¢15 million in damages for human rights violations.

Her lawyer, Mr Andrew Khartey, has sued the Ghana Police Service (GPS), Corporal Clement Suputour (the officer involved), and the Attorney General (AG) as the legal representative of the government.

Kumah is seeking GH¢6 million for human rights violations committed by the GPS and its employees, plus an additional GH¢3 million for false arrest, assault, and battery.

She is also claiming GH¢3 million for negligence by the GPS and another GH¢3 million for violations of her fundamental rights and the torturous acts she suffered.

Apparently Isaac implicated his former boss as a way of paying him back for how he manhandled him.

“I am a sprinter driver from Assin Fosu. One day, a man called me accusing me of having sex with a minor in the car. I later discovered it was Isaac who had sex with a 13-year-old in the car. Truthfully, I beat him severely. I didn’t even have money to take the 13-year-old girl to the hospital so I pleaded with the girl’s father to give me some time to raise the money for the hospital. When I was busy trying to raise the money to pay the hospital expenses, he(Isaac) absconded from the house. I’m really suffering here in jail. I voluntarily reported myself to the police after Isaac implicated me so I could clear my name. When I got to the police station, the police really beat me to a pulp. I really need help to be free from jail.” Evans said.

He appealed to Ghanaians to help free him from jail for his innocence.

“I ask, can a slay queen be a widow?” – Akosua Serwaa’s lawyer quizzes

The lawyer for Akosua Serwaa’s lawyer, William Kusi, has quizzed Ghanaians about whether a slay queen can be a widow or perform widowhood rites.

In a new twist, a sister of the deceased Charles Kwadwo Fosu, also known as Daddy Lumba, Ernestina Fosu and his German-based wifeAkosua Serwaa, are demanding an independent probe into his death.

According to the two women, they are demanding a probe into Daddy Lumba’s demise following the inconsistencies in narrations around his death.

Meanwhile, the children of Daddy Lumba with Akosua Serwaa Fosuh have distanced themselves from their mother’s lawsuit concerning their late father’s funeral and burial arrangements.

One of the children, Charlyn Fosuh, on behalf of the siblings with Akosua Serwaa Fosuh, in a statement, stated, “It has come to our attention that there is an ongoing court process regarding the funeral and burial arrangements of our beloved father, the late Charles Kwadwo Fosuh, affectionately known as Daddy Lumba”.

“We, the children of Akosua Serwaa and Daddy Lumba, wish to clarify that and that we do not wish to be involved in any disputes or conflicts surrounding the funeral arrangements,” it further indicates.

The children added that their only wish give their father a “dignified, respectful, and peaceful manner, befitting his remarkable life and contributions.”

They urged the media to be measured in their communication.

“Wontumi going through more than what Job went through in the Bible” – Paul Yandoh cries out

0

Paul Yandoh, the Ashanti Regional Communications Director of the New Patriotic Party(NPP), has cried out that the Ashanti Regional Chairman, Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, is going through a lot at the hands of the NDC government.

According to Paul Yandoh, the government has frozen the Mobile Money account of the party’s Ashanti Regional Chairman, Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi.

He claimed the move is an attempt to frustrate Chairman Wontumi, who is facing multiple charges related to illegal mining activities.

He further highlighted that what Wontumi is going through is more than what Job went through in the Bible.

Speaking on Wontumi TV on Friday, October 17, 2025, Paul Yandoh lamented, “… Do you know that Chairman Wontumi’s Mobile Money wallet has been frozen? He cannot send nor receive money.

What Wontumi is going through is more than what Job went through in the Bible. This must be condemned by Ghanaians”.

Also, Chairman Wontumi had earlier revealed that the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) had seized 15 of his luxury cars.

It will be recalled that Wontumi was arrested by EOCO following a visit to the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) headquarters on Tuesday, May 27, shortly after leaving the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) headquarters in Accra.

Justice Srem-Sai later revealed that Wontumi is also being investigated for an International organised crime scheme.

The Deputy Attorney General noted that EOCO is assiduously working with our international law enforcement partners on the second strand of criminal investigations.

According to Justice Srem-Sai, the ongoing investigation is being handled by the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO), with asset recovery efforts already underway to secure suspected proceeds of crime.

Chairman Wontumi was released from EOCO custody on June 2, after meeting his bail GHS50 million conditions.

According to Chairman Wontumi, EOCO has seized his vehicle for no reason.

Speaking in an interview on Adom FM on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, Chairman Wontumi stated, “I have been quiet. As we are talking now, 15 of my cars have been confiscated by EOCO. I bought all the cars from Bright (sic). Bright (sic) is close to the NPP office at Asylum Down.

“He has the right registration. He paid the port fees and everything. My Bentley, Rolls-Royce, my Land Cruiser (have been taken), but I have been quiet because I don’t want to be talking about my own issues,” he said.

He added, “I want to end this conversation here. One day, God will speak for me.”

Meanwhile, Wontumi has been released from police custody after three nights.

Wontumi’s next hearing is scheduled for October 28, 2025.

“NPP made a tragic mistake in letting Alan Kyerematen leave” – Inusah Fuseini

0

Inusah Fuseini, the former Minister of Lands and Natural Resources, has weighed in on Alan Kyerematen’s rebranding of his Movement for Change into a full-blown political party.

Recall Alan Kyerematen, after the NPP’s primary defeat, left to form the Movement for Change to contest the 2024 general election as an independent candidate.

According to Inusah Fuseini, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) made a tragic mistake in letting Alan Kyerematen leave the party.

He emphasised that if Alan’s United Party grows strong and formidable, that could signal the demise of the NPP.

Inusah Fuseini is quoted by TV3 to have said, The NPP made a tragic mistake by letting Alan Kyerematen leave their party. In my view, if the United Party grows strong and formidable, that will signal the demise of the NPP”.

His comments come on the heels of Alan John Kwadwo Kyerematen, who has officially rebranded his Movement for Change to the United Party (UP Plus).

The rebranding was revealed in a ceremony in Accra on Thursday, October 16, 2025, signalled a fresh start and paid tribute to a name of historical significance in Ghanaian politics.

Speaking at the official unveiling of UP Plus, party Chairman Abubakar Saddique Boniface, National Chairman of the United Party (UP), stated, “Today, we present to you the United Party or UP Plus.  The UP Plus is a political organisation meant to bring real change to governance.

“We will make a difference because of our focus on universal values and respect for the leadership of competence. We are not just taking people to lead us, but people who are credible, competent, and have a vision,” he stated.

Alhaji Abubakar Saddique Boniface further rejected the NPP’s amnesty to return to the party.

He stated, “We were sacked from the NPP, but now they want to grant us amnesty? We will not go back”.

“We were sacked. But today they claim they are giving us amnesty. What does amnesty mean? What crime did our leader commit? What crime did I commit in the NPP for you to sack me? And today you are telling me you are giving me amnesty. No way,” he said.

He further drew a comparison to their situation with that of Islamic marriage, “When you divorce a woman three times in Islam, she’s no longer your wife until kingdom come,” he added, amid applause”.

Alan Kyerematen, the Leader of the United Party also stated, “The vision of the United Party is to make Ghana the economic powerhouse of Africa by 2040”.

“A new dawn that will bring about economic transformation, which will translate into massive job opportunities, usher in a golden age of business, and create prosperity for our country, Ghana

“A new dawn that will mobilise the collective strengths and talents of all Ghanaians for national development, irrespective of age, ethnicity, religion, or political affiliation.

“A new dawn that will promote accountable and transparent governance and introduce a policy of zero tolerance for corruption. A new dawn that will at least protect the environment and promote sustainable development. Distinguished ladies and gentlemen, this is what underpins the establishment of the United Party,” he said.

Alan Kyerematen, United Party, has also received its registration certificate from the Electoral Commission on October 3, 2025, formally cementing its new identity.

The rebranding marks a new chapter for the former Trade and Industry Minister’s political ambition as he seeks to end the dominance of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

“Ghana is not poor, but poor in leadership” – Ken Agyapong

0

New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer hopeful, Kennedy Agyapong, has said Ghana is not poor but poor in leadership.

In related news, Kennedy Agyapong has boldly declared he will not apologise to any fake pastor he criticised in the past.

The former lawmaker emphasised that his actions in the past were to correct some pastors’ wrongdoing within the church.

According to Ken Agyapong, his confrontations helped to correct certain misconduct among some pastors he claimed were allegedly duping church members.

Speaking to members of the Seventh-day Adventist (SDA) Church over the weekend, Mr Agyapong explained, “Someone said I should apologise to some of the pastors I spoke against. But I said that if I apologise to them, it means I won’t lead the country truthfully if I become president.

Some of these pastors have come to my house to apologise. If they had done the right thing, would they have sent people to my house to apologise?” he quizzed.

Mr Agyapong further added, “One of them was doing an illegal connection, and I made sure the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) disconnected the lights until he paid his bills.

Another one had taken someone’s property, and I ensured the property was returned to its rightful owner. So, it is not today or tomorrow that I will apologise to any fake pastor. And it is not because I want to be president that I will go and apologise. I am not an antichrist, I believe in God”, he added.

Recall that Kennedy Agyapong in the past launched a crusade to expose what he described as fake pastors in Ghana.

Mr Agyapong’s on his Hot Seat show on Net 2 TV targeted Prophet Nigel Gaisie, leader of Prophetic Hill Chapel, and Bishop Daniel Obinim, founder and leader of International God’s Way Church, and other men of God he claimed were fake.

“Of course I’m NDC and I’ll always be an NDC” – Former aide to Dr Bawumia, Rosemond Obeng

0

Rosemond Obeng, a former aide to Dr Mahamudu Bawumia and now Presidential Staffer under President John Mahama, has declared she will always be a member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

According to Rosemond Obeng, in the viral video, she left her former boss, Dr Bawumia, because he did not have a mind of his own and was always manipulated by unpatriotic people around him.

Speaking to the media in reaction to people describing her as a snitch, Rosemond Obeng explained, “Would you continue to align yourself with a group of people who are greedy, selfish and incompetent. Whose aim is to impoverish people and enrich themselves.

Will you continue to serve under a leader who doesn’t have a mind of his own, who will always be manipulated by unpatriotic people or misled by people around him? Will you continue to serve under such a leader? Your guess is as good as mine”.

She further added, “It is time young people who are interested in doing politics look at the interest of the country. We need young people who will be confident to speak truth to power; that is what I did. For me, I am focused, I am just focused on propagating the unprecedented good works of John Mahama.

In recent times, I have been speaking. I am not speaking because I have the opportunity to serve under John Mahama, but we all can see that the country is headed in the right direction. We all can attest to the good leadership we are now enjoying”.

Rosemond Obeng further declared she is now NDC and will always be NDC.

She added, If not being corruptible, having integrity, speaking truth to power, if acting in good conscience makes me a snitch, then I am guilty as charged.

We rode on the NDC to win power, and people listened to our manifesto. People believe in the reset agenda, and so we are on course. I believe in the leadership of the NDC and our current president. Of course, I am NDC, and I will always be NDC”.

It must be noted that Rosemond Obeng was a former assistant to ex-NPP flagbearer Dr Mahamudu Bawumia and has since been appointed as a Senior Presidential Staffer by President John Mahama.

Rosemond Obeng, commonly known as “People’s Mother”, resigned from the NPP to join the NDC a few days before the December 2024 Election.

A few days before the December 2024 election, Rosemond Obeng launched a media campaign badmouthing her former boss after she defected to the then-opposition.

On GHOne’s “State of Affairs” program in late 2024, Rosemond Obeng stated, “We require crucial leadership, and I am aware that my father and former boss are unable to provide it. We get bad results, output, and performance from bad leadership”.

Meanwhile, in 2022, Rosemond Obeng posted on social media how his boss, Dr Mahamudu  Bawumia, helped her to pursue further studies and expressed appreciation to him.

In related news, Grace Akosua Amoabeng, a Member of the  NPP Communications Team, has tackled Rosemond Obeng.

According to Grace Akosua Amoabeng, Rosemond Obeng has a credibility crisis after her last-minute switch from NPP to the NDC ahead of the 2024 elections.

Speaking on GHOne TV, Rosemond Obeng accused embattled Chairman Wontumi of being Dr Mahamudu Bawumia’s financier in the 2024 elections.

However, Grace Akosua Amoabeng hits back, saying Rosemond Obeng could be here cooking up stories, as her credibility is questionable.

On the same show, the NPP communicator stated, “I think she was a bit rude. We are having a conversation, so you don’t speak when I am speaking. At least I have come here and we have had conversations, then you can prompt me that she is speaking, but she is doing that is rude.

I heard her say she knows Chairman Wontumi was the financier for Bawumia, which is false; a lot of people supported the party to go for the elections. You cannot sit here and say without any evidence or anything to show, and just sit on TV and say that Chairman Wontumi was coming to the campaign with sacks of money, that is false”.

Grace Akosua Amoabeng added, “The fact that you were there doesn’t mean you have information; it can even be that what you are saying is false. You were with them as a main core team member of the campaign, and then, within a few months of the elections, you switched to the other side.

So, why should we even sit here and trust what you are saying? It could be that you have even cooked up the story to come and tell Ghanaians. From the outside, your credibility is questionable because you cannot sit here and cook up a story and tell Ghanaians that you were on the other side. Why didn’t you stay on the other side?”.

Torkornoo runs to court to halt Baffoe-Bonnie’s vetting as Chief Justice

0

Gertrude Torkornoo, the former Chief Justice, has run to court, filing a legal challenge to halt the vetting and appointment of Justice Baffoe-Bonnie as Ghana’s next Chief Justice.

The former Chief Justice, in her suit filed at the High Court, seeks to nullify all actions taken by the Justice Gabriel Scott Pwamang Committee, which was established to investigate petitions leading to her removal.

Gertrude Torkornoo is asking the court to declare the committee’s proceedings invalid and to nullify the Presidential Warrant that affected her removal from office.

According to a report, her application was filed through her lawyer, Kwabena Adu-Kusi, on Thursday, October 16, 2025, submitted two reports to support her legal challenge.

One of the reports from a committee chaired by Justice Dr Owusu-Dapaa, and the other from the National Signals Bureau.

In both reports, Francis Baiden was identified as a Judicial Service staff member in charge of the e-Justice system, as the prime suspect in the tampering of judicial documents.

She argued that it is illogical to remove her from office for transferring Biden after evidence showed he was involved in tampering with documents in the Gyakye Quayson case.

Torkornoo, in her suit, also points out that Justice Baffoe-Bonnie transferred judges when he became Acting Chief Justice, which she claimed was unfair that her transfer decision is being treated as a removable offence while similar actions by Baffoe-Bonnie were not questioned.

Her legal action comes at the time the Parliamentary Appointments Committee is set to vet Justice Baffoe-Bonnie to become the next Chief  Justice.

President John Mahama named His Lordship Justice Paul Baffoe-Bonnie as the new Chief Justice of Ghana.

The announcement was made on Tuesday, September 23, by the Minister of Government Communication, Felix Kwakye Ofosu.

Justice Paul Baffoe-Bonnie was appointed to the Supreme Court in June 2008 by then-President John Agyekum Kufuor and is among the most senior justices of the apex court.

Justice Baffoe-Bonnie is now expected to be vetted as Chief Justice by parliament before his swearing-in as Ghana’s next Chief Justice.

His appointment follows. President John Mahama sacking the Chief Justice, Her Ladyship Justice Gertrude Araba Esaaba Sackey Torkornoo, from office with immediate effect after he received a first report from the five-member committee he constituted to investigate three petitions brought against the Chief Justice.

Hours after President Mahama received the committee reports, Chief Justice Torkornoo was sacked with immediate effect.

A statement from the presidency stated, “President John Dramani Mahama has, in accordance with Article 146(9) of the 1992 Constitution, removed the Chief Justice, Her Ladyship Justice Gertrude Araba Esaaba Sackey Torkornoo, from office with immediate effect”.

“This follows receipt of the report of the Committee constituted under Article 146(6) to inquire into a petition submitted by a Ghanaian citizen, Mr. Daniel Ofori. After considering the petition and the evidence, the Committee found that the grounds of stated misbehaviour under Article 146(1) had been established and recommended her removal from office.

“Under Article 146(9), the President is required to act in accordance with the Committee’s recommendation,” the statement concluded.

Paul Yandoh, the Ashanti Regional Communications Director of the New Patriotic Party(NPP), has made a shocking claim against the John Mahama-led government.

“He who conceded two years ago cannot hold a candle to he who concedes to protect lives” – Akosua Manu

0

Akosua Manu, a special Aide to former Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, has reminded Kennedy Agyapong that he conceded to the NPP’s defeat two years ago before the 2024 elections.

In a Facebook post on Friday, October 17, 2025, Akosua Manu reminded Ken Agyapong that he cannot hold a candle to Bawumia, who conceded defeat to protect lives.

Akosua Manu, in her post, wrote, “The lives of patriots and citizens would have been needlessly lost in defence of a cause he [Kennedy Agyapong] believed was long lost. He who conceded two years ahead of time cannot hold a candle to he who concedes after the polls to protect the lives of party supporters and Ghanaians”.

Also, Dennis Miracles Aboagye, spokesperson for former Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, has tackled Kennedy Agyapong.

According to Dennis Miracles Aboagye, a presidential candidate refusing to concede defeat when he knows he has been beaten is cowardice, and a danger to our democracy.

Miracles Aboagye wrote, “A Prez Candidate who refuses to concede defeat in the face of obvious loss at a time when there are multiple incidents of violence across the country is a coward and a danger to our democracy.

Courageous leaders act in time to save our peace,” he wrote on his Facebook page.

Their comments come following  Kennedy Agyapong stating that until the last constituency is counted, he would never have conceded defeat if he were the presidential candidate of the NPP in the 2024 elections.

Mr Agyapong highlighted that the NPP needs bold and courageous leaders ahead of the 2028 elections to match the NDC.

Speaking to party faithfuls as part of his regional tour in the Savannah Region on Wednesday, October 15, Kennedy Agyapong stated, “Until the last constituency is counted, if I am a presidential candidate, I will never accept defeat. I will never accept defeat until the Electoral Commission comes out to declare. I will never accept defeat,” he stated firmly, drawing cheers from his supporters.

He added that, “We need bold men… the party needs people who can match the NDC in every respect and defend the interests of our supporters.”

He further urged delegates to reject any candidate who focuses on personal attacks instead of addressing key issues such as job creation.

“The delegates must reject any candidate who does not talk about jobs but spends time attacking my personality and saying I am not presidential,” he said.

Meanwhile, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia had already given details of some of the events that led to his concession speech.

Speaking to a gathering, Dr Bawumia stated, “Even though the Electoral Commission had not yet pronounced, in fact, some of my people in my team were saying you can’t go out to concede, we don’t know if all this data is right, let’s wait. And all of that. I said, Look, we know this data is right from our own system, you know, so if you wait, you build up more tension, and violence could come because people would think we are trying to rig the election.

“Because that is the message that is coming, that we are trying to rig the election. But nobody has ever conceded an election without the EC coming out to pronounce. And I said there’s a first time for everything. For the interest of the peace and stability of our country, I will come out, I’ll be the first person to concede even before the EC comes out”, he said.

He added, “And so at 9 am I came out and I conceded right here where we are standing. I spoke to the country, I said that I believe that in the interest of peace and security, our democracy and also our economic environment, any violence discourages investors from coming to this country, and it only encourages the terrorists around our sub-region to come here because there is instability, and this is not what God has for Ghana. God wants a peaceful Ghana.”

NPP considering legal action against Alan Kyerematen – Walewale MP

0

Tia Kabiru, the Member of Parliament for Walewale, has revealed that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) is considering legal action against Alan Kyerematen.

According to Tia Kabiru, the NPP will consider legal action to stop Alan from using the United Party as the name for his newly formed political movement.

He highlighted that Alan Kyerematen’s choice of name is “problematic,” given that the NPP traces its political roots to the historic United Party (UP) tradition.

Speaking in an interview on GHOne on Thursday, Kabiru accused the former Trade Minister and his team of attempting to hide under the flag of the UP tradition.

He alleged that the move could mislead the public and distort political history.

Tia Kabiru stated, “First and foremost, I think the Movement for Change, the name choosing is problematic because the tradition of the NPP is out of the United Party,” he said in an interview.

“I’m sure fair-minded Ghanaians and members of the Republic will first even test it in court to find out what that name is,” he noted.

When asked if the NPP would pursue legal action, he answered, “Of course. It is a very good case to test, to see whether that name will even stand.”

His comments come following Alan John Kwadwo Kyerematen’s official rebranding of his Movement for Change to the United Party (UP Plus).

The rebranding was revealed in a ceremony in Accra on Thursday, October 16, 2025, signalled a fresh start and paid tribute to a name of historical significance in Ghanaian politics.

“Rosemond Obeng prime example of political opportunism” – Netizen

0

Albert Nat Hyde, commonly known as Bongo Ideas, has reacted to a viral video of Rosemond Obeng, a former aide to Dr Mahamudu Bawumia and now Presidential Staffer under President John Mahama.

Rosemond Obeng, in the viral video, described her former boss, Dr Bawumia, as not having a mind of his own, who is always manipulated by unpatriotic people and those around him.

Reacting to her video, Bongo Ideas stated, Rosemond Obeng is a typical example of political opportunism and warned the NDC to avoid her.

He wrote on X, “At the end of the end of video, he almost nearly mentioned NPP! This girl can’t be trusted!

She’s a prime example of political opportunism! NDC gotta avoid her if they know what’s good for them!”, he added.

NSA scandal – Case adjourned as former Boss and Deputy failed to show up in Court

0

The High Court in Accra has adjourned proceedings in the cases involving the former Director-General of the National Service Authority (NSA), Osei Assibey Antwi, and his deputy, Gifty Oware-Mensah.

The court decision follows the two suspects failing to show up in court.

However, the former Director-General, Osei Asibey Antwi lawyer appeared before the High Court today, informing the court that his client had been instructed to report to police investigators in Kumasi.

The lawyer further revealed that the defence team had not yet been served with a charge sheet.

The High Court then directed that the charge sheet and hearing notices be served to the accused, after which the case would be recalled for hearing.

Hearing Gifty Oware-Mensah was also adjourned after lawyers informed the court she had submitted a two-day medical excuse duty

Osei Assibey Antwi and his deputy, Gifty Oware, were expected to appear before the Court today, Friday, 17th October 2025.

Both were supposed to be in court to answer charges of alleged financial misconduct involving several million cedis during their roles at the National Service Authority (NSA).

Osei Assibey Antwi, the immediate past Executive Director of the National Service Authority (NSA), has been charged with  14 counts.

His charges included causing financial loss to the Republic, stealing, and money laundering, in a case involving more than GH¢500 million.

According to the charge sheet, Osei Assibey Antwi is accused of authorising payments to over 60,000 non-existent national service personnel and misappropriating public funds.

The former NSS boss is facing multiple counts under sections 179A(1) and 124(1) of the Criminal Offences Act, 1960 (Act 29) and section 1(2)(c) of the Anti-Money Laundering Act, 2020 (Act 1044).

Prosecutors allege that the former NSA boss “willfully caused financial loss of GH¢500,861,744.02 to the Republic by authorising the payment of allowances to over 60,000 “ghost” service personnel between August 2021 and February 2025. Also facing six counts of stealing.

The theft includes, “GH¢3.6 million on August 22, 2023, GH¢516,000 each on September 11, October 26, and November 23, 2023, GH¢1.03 million on December 18, 2023, GH¢2.06 million on May 14, 2024.

He has also been accused of transferring GH¢8.26 into his personal account.

Also, Gifty Oware-Mensah, who is a Deputy Director-General of the National Service Authority, has been charged with stealing and willfully causing financial loss to the state.

The Attorney-General’s Department alleged Gifty Oware-Mensah misappropriated a total of GH¢38,458,248.87 between February 2022 and March 2024, overseeing finance, audit, and procurement at the NSA.

According to prosecutors, she dishonestly transferred GH¢31.5 million from a loan facility meant to support National Service Personnel into her private company accounts.

The said money was under the pretext of supplying goods on a hire-purchase basis; however, investigation revealed no such goods were supplied, and the names used to secure the loan were ghost names from the NSA’s internal system.

AG also alleged, “Out of the money received, the accused transferred GH¢22,925,518,69 to Amaecom Global Company of which she was a director, and the remaining amount to three other companies.”

Gifty Oware-Mensah’s charges include “Stealing GH¢31,502,091.40 belonging to the National Service Authority. Willfully causing financial loss to the state through the fake hire-purchase arrangement, Abuse of public office for personal gain and Money laundering through the transfer of funds into personal and affiliated accounts”.

“Publicly admitting to let the country burn before conceding defeat biggest threat to our democracy” – Ken Agyapong slammed

0

Akosua Manu, Special Aide to former Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, has slammed  New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer hopeful Kennedy Ohene Agyapong following his recent remarks.

According to Akosua Manu, Ken Agyapong publicly admitting to letting the country burn before conceding defeat is the biggest threat to Ghana’s democracy.

Ms Manu, in a Facebook post on Thursday, October 16, 2025, wrote, “Publicly admitting a willingness to let the country burn before conceding is the biggest threat to our democracy. You cannot preach PhD yet push unpatriotic behavior”.

In another Facebook post, on Friday, October 16, 2025, Akosua Manu fired Kennedy Agyapong for conceding to the NPP’s defeat years ago before the 2024 elections.

“The lives of patriots and citizens would have been needlessly lost in defence of a cause he [Kennedy Agyapong] believed was long lost. He who conceded two years ahead of time cannot hold a candle to he who concedes after the polls to protect the lives of party supporters and Ghanaians,” she wrote.

Demolished Akufo-Addo’s statue to be reinstalled following repair works

0

The information gathered suggests the statue of former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, located at the Effia-Nkwanta Regional Hospital in Sekondi, will be reinstalled following repair works.

On November 6, 2024, the statue was unveiled to honour the then-president Akufo-Addo. The statue in December 2024 received repairs to the leg after it suffered noticeable damage.

Following the repair works, the entire statue was toppled and destroyed, with the head to the knee area smashed. It reportedly occurred at about 1:30 am on January 13, 2025.

According to the report, a replacement statue has been completed and will soon be re-erected at the Effiankwanta Regional Hospital Roundabout in Sekondi.

This was revealed by the independent parliamentary candidate Prophet Elisha Joshua for the Evalue Gwira constituency in the 2024 Election, who had earlier pledged to restore the monument, emphasising that such actions of political intolerance should not be condoned.

Speaking in an interview on Connect FM’s Omanbapa Morning Show, Prophet Joshua, “Acts like these must not be encouraged since they could create a dangerous precedent. Tomorrow, someone may decide to destroy whatever President Mahama will also build”.

Prophet Joshua claimed that the statue was initially dismantled due to ongoing road construction at the site.

He revealed he intends to seek formal approval from regional authorities before reinstalling the monument.

Prophet Joshua added, “The main reason it was taken down was because the road was not completed. Now that the road is done, the statue can be erected without opposition from anyone”.

“The roundabout and the pillar where the statue stood are still intact. The new statue has been moulded, and we’ll soon meet with the regional leaders to get their consent for reinstallation,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Paramount Chief of Lower Dixcove, Nana Akwasi Agyeman IV, denied involvement in the Akufo-Addo statue.

Speaking to a Takoradi-based radio station, Nana Akwasi Agyeman clarified, “Frankly, I promised not to comment on the statue issue because of the widespread insults we chiefs have suffered. I, Nana Akwasi Agyeman, can confirm that the statue was not done by the chiefs of the Western Region. It is never true. No chief contributed a pesewa towards its construction. If any chief contributed towards it, I’m yet to know”.

“The chiefs never met as the House of Chiefs to discuss donating a statue to honour the then-President Nana Akufo-Addo,” he added.

He recounted, “We only received an invitation to attend the former President’s thank-you tour. It was there that Okyere Darko Mensah sent someone to inform me that he would like us to join them to present a gift of appreciation to the President, and so we would all go to Effia-Nkwanta Hospital”.

“It was upon arriving there that I got to know it was a statue. I didn’t even know it was a statue. I was not the only Paramount Chief who went there; in fact, we were about seven. Again, it was there that I was told I would help the President unveil the statue. Honestly, I initially didn’t want to do it, but I was worried about creating a scene, so I kept quiet,” Nana Agyeman said.

“I have seized Bawumia’s steering wheel” – NPP’s Bryan Acheampong

0

Bryan Acheampong, a candidate for the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) presidential primary, has declared he has seized Dr Mahamudu Bawumia’s steering wheel.

Speaking in an interview with GHOne TV, the NPP flagbearer aspirant, the former Vice President’s famous campaign slogan, “Give me the steer,” which dominated his 2024 presidential bid.

Dr Acheampong made the statement in a light-hearted manner while he outlined his plans to lead the New Patriotic Party into the next general elections.

It will be recalled that Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, in the run-up to the 2024 election, used the slogan, “Give me the steer and I will drive Ghana to the next level”, which he used to symbolise his readiness to take charge of the country’s leadership from then-President Akufo-Addo.

In related news, Bryan Acheampong has dismissed polls putting him at just 1% support among delegates ahead of the party’s primary.

According to Dr Bryan Acheampong, polls putting him at just 1 per cent are sponsored and meaningless.

He asserted that on January 31st, that is the only poll that truly matters.

Speaking at his campaign office on Wednesday, October 15, Dr Acheampong stated, “I mean, I’ve seen some polls that put me at 1% and some aspirants who have not even left their bedrooms at 20%, and it’s quite interesting,” he said.

“So please, I’m not concerned about that at all. The day of the election, January 31st, we will see what the real polls look like.”

He added, “Many people come with the proposal that, ‘Oh, you are winning, you are at 90%, you are at 70%, give us money so that we can go and put it in the papers, put it on online posts.’ I’m not interested in any of that,” he stated.

Also, he has said he fears no candidate in the party’s flagbearer race.

According to Bryan Acheampong, he is not afraid of the so-called establishment, as the establishment is the entire party architecture, the delegates, and the workers of the party.

Speaking to the media on Wednesday, October 15, Dr Acheampong stated, “I have no fears at all about any so-called establishment. And there’s really no establishment in this. It is the establishment that is going to vote – the entire party architecture, the delegates, and the workers of the party.”

He noted, “National executives themselves are 17 out of 250,000. Constituency executives, who are about 5,000 people, are only a small part of the whole. One person may have most of them, but that does not determine the final outcome.”

“I’ve been around this party for a long time. I know the influence of these people on the delegates. I’m hoping it’s going to be free and fair”.

“I’m running a solid campaign, and I know that nothing – except the delegates – can influence their way”, he added.

He further added that job creation will be a key focus of his campaign and future government if elected.

According to Dr Acheampong, his private sector experience gives him the foundation to deliver meaningful employment opportunities for young people.

Dr Acheampong added, “I assured party people that the key areas I would focus on, should we win power, would be jobs,” he said. “It allows them to look at what I have done for myself in the private sector, and I will be able to leverage that with government policy to create more jobs, meaningful jobs for young people.”

“What I have done in my personal life will also inspire a lot of young people, which will bring them to vote for us in 2028,” he said.

He further promised, “Our future government will focus on infrastructure, health, education, and roads everywhere that we go. The Eastern Region, when I started, we were just talking about roads.”

Adu Boahen’s bid to halt criminal trial thrown out

0

The High Court has thrown out an application filed by lawyers for former Director-General of the National Signals Bureau, Kwabena Adu Boahen.

The legal team for Kwabena Adu Boahen were seeking to criminal trial pending the outcome of an appeal.

Kwabena Adu Boahen’s legal team had urged the court to stay proceedings until the Court of Appeal determines their challenge to an earlier ruling.

The court’s earlier ruling partially dismissed a request for further disclosures made on behalf of the first and second accused persons in the ongoing trial.

Also, on Wednesday, October 15, a notice filed at the High Court in Accra revealed Ms Donkor was formally discharged under Section 59 of the Criminal and Other Offences (Procedure) Act, 1960 (Act 30).

Mildred Donkor is now expected to give insight into the alleged theft and misappropriation of state funds by the former National Signals Bureau boss, Kwabena Adu-Boahene, and his wife, Angela Adjei-Boateng and their company, Advantage Solutions Limited.

Earlier, Ms Donkor abruptly dismissed her lawyer in open court on July 18, saying, “I wish to take a separate lawyer, please,” she told the judge at the time.

In the six-page document signed by the Deputy Attorney General, Dr Justice Srem Sai, it detailed how Mildred Donkor became involved in Adu-Boahene’s scandal.

Mildred Donkor, in her witness statement, labelled her association with the first and second accused persons as longstanding from their days at Cedar Mountain Assemblies of God Church in East Legon. In her witness statement, Donkor alleged that it all started when Adu-Boahene requested that she become a director of Advantage Solutions Limited when he couldn’t meet the registration requirements when he wanted to open a bank account for his business.

Parts of the document read, “This was sometimes in the year 2010. At the time of opening the account for (A4), A4 could not meet the minimum requirement for two directors. A4 had only one director, as the other director on A4’s record was deceased. To satisfy the minimum directorship requirement for A4, A1 requested that I become the second director, which I consented to. I put my name down as the second director. That is how I became a director of A4”.

She detailed on page two of the document how she ended up working for Adu-Boahene after she resigned from UMB in July 2018.

“I never received a letter of employment or appointment at A4. Therefore, I was not given specific duties nor formal terms of employment. I only acted on ad hoc instructions from A1 and A2. However, I was paid a monthly stipend. For instance, I was paid Three Thousand One Hundred and Thirty-Seven Ghana cedis (GH¢3,137) up to January 2021,” she added.

She further told the prosecutors that she managed several transactions on behalf of the accused persons, including withdrawal and delivery of a large cash sum from bank accounts belonging to Advantage Solutions Limited and another firm, adding that the first and second accused provided her with pre-signed blank cheque books, allowing her to withdraw from GH¢2,000 to GH¢1 million.

Mildred Donkor detailed, “A1 and A2, from time to time, instructed me to carry out tasks on their behalf in respect of A4. For example, they had, on one occasion, instructed me to facilitate the payment of cheques signed by A1 and A2 to third parties… When I withdrew such cheques, I delivered the monies either A1 or A2. Sometimes, too, I transfer the monies to Madam Margaret Aba Donkor at her request”.

“Throughout my work with A1 and A2, I took no major decisions – whether financial, operations, or strategic – on my own. I followed the decisions and instructions of A1 or A2. Throughout my works with A4, I was never invited to, neither did I ever attend, a board of directors’ meeting. I was never a signatory to any bank account”, she added.

The AG is now expected to rely on her testimony to strengthen its case against the remaining accused persons.

“Pending the court’s determination, no one has the right to claim Lumba’s body” – Lawyers for Akosua Serwaa

The legal team of Daddy Lumba’s wife, Akosua Serwaa, has issued a press release warning the family head of the late musician, Abusuapanin Kofi Owusu, and his associates.

“We kindly ask the general public, especially the media and social media commentators, to be measured and respectful in their commentary regarding the family, any ongoing legal matters, and the funeral arrangements. We believe our father deserves a farewell that reflects the peace, dignity, and unity he valued in life,” the statement said.

“Sikadwa will deal with whoever feigns his love for me” – Otumfuo warns

0

Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the Asantehene, has issued a stern warning to individuals around him who feign affection toward him.

According to Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, many smile with him and pretend to love him, but have ill intentions towards him.

The Asantehene highlighted that anyone pretending to love him while harbouring ill motives will be dealt with by the Golden Stool, also known as Sika Dwa Kofi.

Opemsuo.com quoted the Asantehene during an Asanteman Council meeting on October 16, 2025, to have said, “Many of you smile with me, pretending to love me, but have ill intent towards me. Sikadwa will deal with whoever feigns his love for me. I have a pure intent towards all of you”.

The Asantehene further announced plans to hold a closed-door meeting with the traditional leaders, saying, “We all sat here and delivered verdicts on both cases, but when issues arose afterwards, none of you came out to defend the decisions. Your attitude sounds like, ‘Do it alone,’ and I will definitely do it. Some of you secretly spread falsehoods about me outside.

“I was appointed to ascend Sikadwa, and they attached wisdom and power to reign. I will use them to deal with these issues and to rule. You saw Asanteman before my reign, and you have seen how it is now,” he added.

Meanwhile, Osagyefo Oseadeeyo Agyeman Badu II has said anyone who claims the Golden Stool was summoned to descend from the sky is a liar.

According to the Dormahene, the Golden Stool, when it was recently outdoored, looked welded when it was displayed in public.

Speaking during the launch of the Bonokyempem Council in the Bono Region on August 14, 2025, Osagyefo Oseadeeyo Agyeman Badu II, stated, “If anyone tells you they can summon something to descend from the sky, I, Agyeman Badu II, am saying it is a lie”.

“Didn’t you see when the Golden Stool was recently outdoored, it looked welded? Didn’t you see?” he quizzed.

Also, Historian Anokye Frimpong has revealed that all the Golden Stools in Ghana were made by the Paramount Chief of Dormaa, Osagyefo Oseadeeyo Agyeman Badu II, forbears.

According to Anokye Frimpong, Nana Dormaahene’s forbears moulded a Golden Stool, which was seized by the Ashantis and melted.

Speaking to Agyenkwa FM, Anokye Frimpong explained, “Under Opoku I, the Asantes went to war against the people of Dormaa, who were led by Nana Kofi Adu. The Ashantis defeated them and took away their Golden Stool”.

“Because Konfo Anokyi has warned that there must be only one Golden Stool and that if anyone found one, the Ashantis should go to war and conquer it, the Ashantis defeated Dormaa and took hostage of their Golden Stool, melted it, and it became the first Golden Stool melted by the Ashantis in history”.

He further revealed that another great-grandfather of the current Dormaahene, Nana Kwadwo Adinkra Karikari, also manufactured a Golden Stool during the reign of Nana Osei Bonsu as the Asantehene.

He revealed that the stool became the second one which the Ashantis seized through war and destroyed.

Anokye Frimpong added that all the welded Golden Stools in Ghana’s history were made and used by the forbears of the current Dormaahene, but not the Ashantis.

“I delivered monies to either Adu Boahene or his wife” – Mildred Donkor, in her witness statement

Mildred Donkor, the third accused person in the ongoing GHS49 million theft case against Kwabena Adu-Boahene and his wife, Angela Adjei-Boateng, in her witness statement after the Attorney General and Minister for Justice, Dr Dominic Ayine, dropped charges against her, has revealed that she delivered money to the first accused or the second accused.

On Wednesday, October 15, a notice filed at the High Court in Accra revealed Ms Donkor was formally discharged under Section 59 of the Criminal and Other Offences (Procedure) Act, 1960 (Act 30).

Throughout my works with A4, I was never invited to, neither did I ever attend, a board of directors’ meeting. I was never a signatory to any bank account”, she added.

The AG is now expected to rely on her testimony to strengthen its case against the remaining accused persons.

It will be recalled, Kwabena Adu Boahene, his wife Angela Adjei-Boateng, Mildred Donkor, and one other have been charged by the state for stealing, defrauding by false pretences, money laundering, and conspiracy to commit a crime.

According to the charge sheet, Kwabena Adu Boahene and his wife stole state funds to the tune of GHc 49 million.

The Attorney General, Dr Dominic Ayine, filed 11 charges against Kwabena Adu-Boahene and three others at the High Court in Accra.

“NPP got too arrogant, they don’t have values” – Buaben Asamoa

0

Yaw Buaben Asamoa, the General Secretary of the United Party (UP), has said the New Patriotic Party (NPP) got too arrogant and lacks values.

Speaking in an interview on JoyNews’ The Pulse, Yaw Buaben Asamoa revealed that he does not intend to go back to the NPP.

It will be recalled that the NPP revoked the membership of Yaw Buaben Asamoa and three others after they publicly endorsed Alan Kyeremanten, other than the party’s elected flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.

Yaw Buaben Asamoa, speaking on JOYNEWS, stated, “Everything they performed was overshadowed by the lack of humaneness. For me, that is the biggest problem that party has. It got too arrogant”.

“I don’t intend to go back to the NPP. They don’t have values. First of all, let’s examine the NPP — which NPP are we talking about now?”

“As far as I recollect, the roots of the NPP came from the CPP tradition for about eight years. The party was later managed by a chairman who had CPP roots but became NPP. The presidential candidate that took over has NDC antecedents, and his wife is from a PNC family with NDC connections,” he explained.

His remarks come at a time when Alan John Kwadwo Kyerematen’s newly rebranded United Party (UP).

Also, National Chairman of the United Party, Alhaji Abubakar Saddique Boniface, has rejected the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) amnesty to return to the party.

According to Alhaji Abubakar Saddique Boniface, they were sacked and have no intention of going back to the NPP.

He emphasised that the NPP had no moral ground to offer forgiveness when no crime had been committed to warrant their expulsion.

Speaking during the rebranding of the Movement of Change to the United Party, Alhaji Abubakar Saddique stated, “We were sacked from the NPP, but now they want to grant us amnesty? We will not go back”.

“We were sacked. But today they claim they are giving us amnesty. What does amnesty mean? What crime did our leader commit? What crime did I commit in the NPP for you to sack me? And today you are telling me you are giving me amnesty. No way,” he said.

He further drew a comparison to their situation with that of Islamic marriage, “When you divorce a woman three times in Islam, she’s no longer your wife until kingdom come,” he added, amid applause”.

Meanwhile, Inusah Fuseini, the former Minister of Lands and Natural Resources, has weighed in on Alan Kyerematen’s rebranding of his Movement for Change into a full-blown political party.

We have turned the corner, economy back on track – BoG Governor

0

Dr Johnson Asiama, the Governor of the Bank of Ghana, has declared at the IMF/World Bank talks that Ghana’s economy has turned the corner.

The BoG Governor declared that Ghana’s economy is back on track after years of instability.

He described Ghana’s economy as being “back on track” following months of policy discipline.

Speaking at the IMF/World Bank Governor Talk Series in Washington, D.C., under the theme “From Crisis to Confidence: Ghana’s Journey to Macroeconomic Stabilisation,” Dr Asiama stated, “We came to meet a challenged economy in the sense that, remember, we had a domestic debt issue in 2022, fiscal policy was highly expansionary. It led to our exiting the international financial market. There was a resort to domestic financing.

“We remember all the sovereign downgrades we had to suffer. We came into office with a lot of liquidity, high inflation, [and an exchange rate that was depreciating widely,” he said.

He added, “And I remember when we came in, there were talks about whether we should cancel the programme altogether, there were doubts as to whether we would be able to carry on the programme.

The BoG Boss also revealed that the Central Bank occasionally intervene to stabilise the cedi for periods of exceptional market pressure.

The BoG Governor refuted claims that the Central Bank is overstepping its bounds in managing the foreign exchange market.

According to the BoG Governor, the Central Bank’s actions fall within a flexible exchange rate framework aimed only at curbing excessive volatility.

Dr Asiama explained, “The framework that we have is a flexible exchange rate management framework.

Meanwhile, Dr Cassiel Ato Forson, Ghana’s Minister of Finance, has assured international investors that the country’s economic gains will be sustained.

Dr Forson, at the same event, declared that “Ghana is on track. We will sustain the gains.”

Security recruitment under NDC merit-based, no more ‘protocol’ – Asiedu Nketia

Johnson Asiedu Nketia, the National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has vowed that security recruitment under the NDC government would be merit-based.

According to Asiedu Nketia, the NDC government will make sure security services are properly balanced, even regionally.

He emphasised that the government will end the era of protocol recruitment into Ghana’s security services.

The NDC Chairman revealed that the Mahama government is committed to building a transparent and credible security recruitment system that reflects Ghana’s diversity and national cohesion.

Speaking in the Akatsi North constituency as part of his thank-you tour on Thursday, October 16, 2025, Asiedu Nketia stated, “We will make sure that our security services are properly balanced, even regionally.

We are departing from a system where people are recruited based on their surnames to ensure that the services are truly representative and professional”.

Meanwhile, the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) announced the commencement of the 2025 enlistment and recruitment across all 16 regional capitals of the country.

The recruitment process has been officially published in state-owned newspapers, including the Daily Graphic and Ghanaian Times.

According to the GAF, the decentralised recruitment is aimed at offering equal opportunity to all eligible applicants, regardless of location.

GAF, in an earlier press release issued on Monday, September 29, stated, “The Ghana Armed Forces wishes to inform the general public that the 2025 Enlistment/Recruitment? Enlistment into the Ghana Armed Forces will commence in the coming days at all the regional capitals of the 16 Regions of the country. This approach offers equal opportunity for all potential applicants in the entire country,

The enlistment/recruitment exercise will be announced through the official Ghana Armed Forces platforms such as gafonline.mil.gh, gafrecruitment.mil.gh, in addition to the Daily Graphic and the Ghanaian Times newspapers”.

The statement further added, “The general Public is kindly informed that any purported recruitment links on Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp or any other social media platforms inviting people for protocol recruitment is a scam and should be ignored.

Additionally, no such enlistment/recruitment invitation will emanate from any member of the Ghana Armed Forces or its High Command and should be ignored as well.

The Ghana Armed Forces counts on the cooperation of the general public in this endeavour”.

Also, Sam Nartey George, the Minister of Communication, Digital Technology, and Innovations, has said a maximum enlistment age of 35 years would serve our young people better.

According to Sam George, there are people in their 30s who are physically fit and sound enough to serve their Nation.

Sam George called for the re-examination of the maximum age for enlistment into Ghana’s military services.

In a post on X, Sam George wrote, “I honestly believe it is time for our beloved Nation to re-examine the maximum age for enlistment into our military services.

There are people in their 30s who are physically fit and sound enough to serve their Nation. We must not deny them this opportunity simply because of their age.

There is a precedent across the world. I believe an upper limit of 35 years would serve our young people better. Let’s nurture their dreams and not kill them.

For God and Country”, he added.
