Blessed Godsbrain Smart, popularly known as Captain Smart, the host of Onua Maakye, has quizzed the National Democratic Congress (NDC) on whether they received $500,000 from Kwabena Adu Boahene before the 2024 elections.
According to Captain Smart, Kwabena Adu Boahene bought new cars during that period, questioning the whereabouts of those cars.
The outspoken broadcaster challenged the NDC to tell Ghanaians whether they took $500,000 and the whereabouts of the four cars.
Speaking on the Onua Maakye program on Onua TV, Captain Smart questioned, “ I’m about to throw a third bomb. JB, have you heard about the name of Kwabena Adu Boahene, who has been accused by the Attorney General of purchasing 27 houses?”
“Did he give the NDC $500,000 before the elections, or did he not give them? Did the NDC take $500,000 from Kwabena Adu Boahene or not?”, he added.
Captain Smart further added, “He [Adu Boahene] procured four cars, and who received those tier rubber cars? Who kept custody of those cars, and where are those cars now?”
“And who took delivery of the $500,000? Did he give four cars, and where are the cars? Did he pay $500,000, and who took delivery of that money? There’s a question, but I have internationally kept it this way”.
However, Dr Rashid Tanko-Computer, the Deputy Director of Elections and IT for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), denied taking money from the National Signals Bureau.
Speaking on JOY News, Dr Rashid Tanko-Computer stated, “On authority, I am telling you the NDC has nothing to do with what came out from that story. You see, when they are talking about opposition, they know the opposition they were talking about.
He knows it and everybody knows it, even those people who are referring to help them in their recent demonstrations, you know, their partners, that is what he was referring to, and I am sure everybody would have seen that”.
He added, “No right-thinking person will believe my arch-opponent will give me resources to defeat him in an election, does it make sense?
Meanwhile, Captain Smart on his show also launched a scathing attack on President John Dramani Mahama’s ministers.
The outspoken broadcaster confidently emphasised that apart from President John Mahama, none of his ministers have achieved anything meaningful after eight months in office.
Speaking on his show, Onua Maakye Captain Smart stated, “Come and sit here and tell me you are doing something. Eight solid months. Yesterday, I told JB something, and he was just staring at my face.
In a communication, there is something we call silent communication, non-verbal communication, which is how people call it. The nonverbal communication you looking at the person’s face, focusing on their facial expressions”.
Captain Smart boldly added, “I told them that now eight years is over and former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is sitting at home, and now, 8 months have passed.
All the ministries, apart from John Mahama himself, which one of them has brought something important for Ghanaians to discuss? Not even one,” he argued on his show”.
However, President John Dramani Mahama has told his ministerial appointees that Ghanaians expect the NDC government to deliver, and they must deliver without any excuses but with results.
According to John Mahama, he did not select them to occupy spaces but to solve problems.
He further asserted that the business-as-usual approach will not work, and indeed, it must be buried once and for all.
Speaking at the opening of a four-day Executive Leadership Programme for Ministerial Appointees on Thursday, April 24, 2025, President Mahama stated, “You were not appointed to occupy space. You were appointed to solve problems,” Mahama stated. “The Ghanaian people expect us to deliver. And we must – not with excuses, but with results.”
“We’re not here simply to orient ministers. We’re here to shape a collective mindset”, he added.
John Mahama further warned, “The business-as-usual approach will not work. Indeed, it is dead and we must bury it once and for all”.
“Our young people are tired of waiting interminably. Our farmers, our workers, our entrepreneurs… want to live in dignity and prosperity”
“Please remember, when any of us fall short, I will not hesitate to act,” Mahama added.
President Mahama further cautioned that accountability would not be compromised under his leadership.
