The Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) has dismissed media reports suggesting that the Member of Parliament for Manhyia South, Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah, has been granted a GH¢50 million bail.
EOCO reacting to a news card claiming that Baffour Awuah had been granted GH¢50 million bail with three sureties on Friday, October 2, 2026, EOCO described the report as “fake” and called on the public to also “disregard the information”.
Also, Samuel Atta Akyea, a lawyer for Baffour Awuah has also denied reports that his client had been granted bail.
Speaking on Adom FM on Friday, October 2, 2026, Atta Akyea stated, “It is not true that he has been granted bail”.
“What I’m even hearing is that they want to further detain him and take him to the court that granted the arrest warrant for it to grant him bail instead,” he disclosed.
Meanwhile, the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) has disclosed that the Manhyia South Member of Parliament, Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah, is under investigation over criminal conspiracy, financial loss to SIC Savings and Loans and money laundering.
According to EOCO, Baffour Awuah surrendered himself and was subsequently placed under arrest, adding that he is currently cooperating with investigators as the investigative process proceeds.
In a statement, EOCO detailed, “The Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) wishes to inform the public that Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah, Senior Partner of Sarkodie, Baffour Awuah and Partners, voluntarily surrendered himself at the premises of EOCO today at approximately 10 am to assist investigators in ongoing investigations.
His appearance follows several months of efforts by the Office to secure his attendance before investigators in connection with ongoing investigations into allegations relating to criminal conspiracy, financial loss to SIC Savings and Loans, money laundering, tax-related offences and other matters under investigation.
The Office subsequently commenced the applicable investigative and operational procedures in respect of Mr Baffour Awuah.
In accordance with those procedures, Mr Baffour Awuah was subsequently placed under arrest and is currently cooperating with investigators as the investigative process proceeds.
EOCO further wishes to assure the public that its investigations will progress professionally, independently and in accordance with due process
The Office will continue to pursue all relevant lines of inquiry, examine the available evidence and afford all persons involved their rights under the Constitution and applicable laws.
The public is therefore urged to allow the investigative and judicial processes to proceed without speculation or premature conclusions regarding the culpability of any individual.
EOCO will provide further information when it is appropriate and legally permissible to do so”.
